    Hi Samantha ✨ thank you for your lovely tutorial. I was wondering how you keep your finished copper pieces from becoming tarnished? I live in a seaside town and my pieces lose their shine rather quickly. Any advice? Thank you for sharing your ideas and creativity with us. ❤

      Hello 👋 Thank you for your very kind words 🥰 It all depends on what you want from your pieces, to be honest. You can treat them with a patina like liver of sulphur, which deepens the tones of the copper, or you can leave it raw and then treat with a wax, such as Renaissance Wax, which you apply then buff off with a soft cloth. If you apply and then buff, two or three times, it leaves a very good protective layer over the copper. Or, you can just leave it raw and clean each time you wish to wear it… I do this with some of my pieces and I actually use ketchup to clean my pieces, which I then wash off after about a minute or so… unconventional, but very effective. Hope that helps 🥰

    I’m going to order the wire needed to make these cute earrings and I need to know if I order dead soft, half hard or what? I tried making the frame with 20 gauge dead soft copper wire and was not successful. Your advice would be appreciated! Thanks

      I use 1.25mm (16G) for the frames on these. Dead soft. Although when they say dead soft , it’s not really that soft in the thicker wires 🤭 When you come to hammer the frames to flatten them slightly, you will work harden it and therefore the frames will be super sturdy. I wouldn’t suggest using 20g for the frames as it’s just not thick or strong enough. Hope that helps 🥰

    How long is the wire you use for the earring frame? My ring mandrel doesn’t have “zed” 😢

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  10 месяцев назад

      Ah that’s ok. In my instructions, I just say use whatever size of frame you like, but just make sure you have about 1cm “crossover” ☺️ But if you want to make yours exactly the same size as the ones I demonstrate then you will need approximately 9cm or 3.5in which will give you plenty of wriggle room ☺️
