  • Learn how to make beautiful boho style copper wire earrings in this step by step tutorial for beginners. Create your own wire and bead jewelry with this easy DIY project!
    As always, my tutorial is paced to suit the beginner, so I will take you step by step through each design process, enabling you to create beautiful pieces of jewelry for yourself.
    The demonstration I give is for inspiration. You can make these in any size you like. Just ensure you have 1cm “crossover” of wire when shaping it around your mandrel… to enable you to make the loops for your ear wire.
    I do hope you enjoy the video. If so, please do consider giving it a thumbs up - thank you so much for watching.
    Materials needed:
    Copper wire
    Frame - 16g or 1.25mm
    Hearts - 18g or 1mm (4cm lengths for larger heart motif and 3cm length for smaller heart motif)
    Wrapping - 26g or 0.4mm
    3mm beads of your choice
    Flush cutters
    Chain nose pliers
    A mandrel
    Bench block and chasing hammer
    6 step pliers or round nose

      @@samanthalatimer1 I made these today. You are right, getting each heart started on the hoop is a bit fiddly, but worth it. Hi Samantha ✨ thank you for your lovely tutorial. I was wondering how you keep your finished copper pieces from becoming tarnished? I live in a seaside town and my pieces lose their shine rather quickly. Any advice? Thank you for sharing your ideas and creativity with us. ❤

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  3 месяца назад

      Hello 👋 Thank you for your very kind words 🥰 It all depends on what you want from your pieces, to be honest. You can treat them with a patina like liver of sulphur, which deepens the tones of the copper, or you can leave it raw and then treat with a wax, such as Renaissance Wax, which you apply then buff off with a soft cloth. If you apply and then buff, two or three times, it leaves a very good protective layer over the copper. Or, you can just leave it raw and clean each time you wish to wear it… I do this with some of my pieces and I actually use ketchup to clean my pieces, which I then wash off after about a minute or so… unconventional, but very effective. Hope that helps 🥰

    Hi there thanks for the tutorial which I made yesterday and made me cast my memory back to earrings I had made 3 years ago but I made the little hearts with a continuous wire and then connected to the ring, I found that doing them separately as you showed, the earrings aren't very stable 😊❤

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  3 месяца назад

      Ah ok. I find mine are pretty stable, so I guess it’s all about personal taste 🥰 Because I attach mine on top of the frame, they are stable but if you attach them next to the frame, they can wobble a bit ☺️

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  2 месяца назад

      I use 1.25mm (16G) for the frames on these. Dead soft. Although when they say dead soft , it’s not really that soft in the thicker wires 🤭 When you come to hammer the frames to flatten them slightly, you will work harden it and therefore the frames will be super sturdy. I wouldn’t suggest using 20g for the frames as it’s just not thick or strong enough. Hope that helps 🥰
