- Welcome back, lovely souls.
Learn how to make wire wrapped coil beads, and how to link them together to make a copper wire wrap necklace or earrings. This beginner friendly tutorial will take you step by step through the process.
Today, I thought I'd throw caution to the wind, and introduce myself. A very nervous couple of minutes showing my face (ARGH) and then I show you how to make lovely copper coil beads, which you can use for all sorts of jewellery projects.
I'd like to link a couple of wire artists' channels here, as they were invaluable when I was first learning to play about with wire, and I'd like to credit them here, for their time and generosity:
The very beautiful Yvonne at / @backtoearthcreations who is so very talented and generous with her time. I urge you to check her out. And, the lovely www.youtube.com/@LilyTree/videos who is such a talent, and I loved watching her videos when I was starting out.
Materials for today:
1mm copper wire (18g)
0.4mm copper wire (24g)
0.8mm copper wire (20g)
Flush Cutters
2 x chain nose pliers
Round nose pliers or 6-step pliers
Rule
File for rough edges
4mm beads of your choosing
6mm beads of your choosing
2.5mm knitting needle or dowel
Hope you have a lovely time making these. They're so versatile and you can use them for all sort of jewellery projects.
See you next time x Хобби
Thanks for the detailed tutorial and for the cameo appearance. I enjoy watching tutorials more when I can put a face to the voice.
Thank you so much ☺️ So nerve wracking showing ones’ face! But I always like to see someone in “real life” so to speak
i must say , you are a fabulous teacher. thankyou
That’s so very kind of you, thank you ☺️
How Pretty. The connectors look like shells to me. Pearls and shells. Thanks for sharing your views of area at home . BEAUTIFUL!
That’s a lovely way to look at them 🥰
Hi Samantha-thank you for your great channel and lessons. I’m just getting started-I have lots of supplies but many of the RUclips videos with other creators are overwhelming and go too fast. You’re easy to understand and keep me motivated to keep going and not give up. I’ve actually been afraid to start, though I’ve been collecting supplies for over a year! Thank you for your supplies list. I’m going to put it all together and get started in the morning. I’m excited to get started, no longer overwhelmed! I’m in the US but just love England! I was there in 2016 and saw a lot of the country. I loved every minute of it and wish I could get back lots more often. Hopefully again, soon. Just wanted to say hello and tell you how much I appreciate your teachings. Enjoy your weekend and thank you so much for your help and encouragement. Wish I lived closer. Would love to have you help me in a class. No classes near me here. Will be watching your uploads! 💕Bonnie
Hi Bonnie 🥰 Oh this is lovely to hear! I’m so happy you feel motivated to start your new craft and I just know you’ll LOVE it and be totally hooked like the rest of us 😅 I have tried hard to make my videos slow and deliberate for just this reason, but I’m also in awe of a lot of the wire artists here on RUclips as they’re amazing, aren’t they!!? I don’t have the same talent, but there’s always room for simple and elegant things, I think 😍 I’m glad you liked your time in England… were a complicated country, for sure, but I’m so proud to be British and I love my country very much. Have fun making, and please do let me know how you get along ❤️
@@samanthalatimer1 thank you so much for your kind and quick response. So nice to hear from you! I will certainly keep you informed as I progress and will be watching your videos. I’m just so grateful to have found you! I’m not feeling so overwhelmed as I did. Your videos are perfect for me and you are just so very sweet. Continued success to you. I will keep you posted on my progress. You have good reason to be proud of being British. Everyone was so lovely to me there, and your country is so beautiful! Enjoy your day 💕
How much I learned from you in this tutorial ❣️ Thank you very much 🌹
You’re so very welcome 🤗

I’m so happy I found you! Wonderful teacher. I am an almost retired fiber artist and teacher of several crafts and am looking forward to focusing on jewelry- especially combining beads and metalwork. Therefore you are the perfect teacher! Thank you for your clarity and encouragement. Also I live on a farm in very rural Michigan and love the glimpses of nature and your dog since these elements factor large in my life also. Again,Thanks
You’re so very welcome. I adore fibre arts and try my hand with some fibre jewellery pieces, using sari silks and banana yarns etc. Your home sounds lovely ☺️
🎉❤
That is so so pretty. So simple and and pretty. Well done. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome 🤗
You are lovely and your hair is gorgeous. Your inner kindness shines through. Like many of the other comments I am also glad I found your tutorials. Cheers from Arizona, USA.
That’s so very lovely of you to say, thank you so much ☺️

That’s so very kind of you. Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I can't wait to try my hand at this, I just love the style. The coils look so easy to make. Right now, I'm making bohemian necklaces. This way, I put my two loves together, crocheting and jewelry making. It's fun. I wore one when we took my dad out for his birthday, and the waitress fell in love with it, so naturally, I had to make her one too. I am looking forward to your next tutorial and getting a glimpse of your part of the world. Beautiful scenery......
Oh Jeanetta! I adore this! I love bohemian jewellery too and have made many crochet beaded necklaces. They’re so beautiful and playful aren’t they. And so generous of you to make one for your waitress… I’m sure she’ll treasure it. I love to crochet too, so it’s lovely to “meet” a kindred spirit. See you soon ☺️
Love these. Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome!🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I haven’t done any metal work in years. However, I am inspired by your work and I will be making these earrings and the paddle pair. I am so excited to try this again!
Ah that’s wonderful. I’m so glad you’re inspired and I hope you have fun making your pieces 🥰
Only just found your channel, thank you for sharing your story and lovely work. I have been crafting for too many years to count but beading and wire work for approximately 12 years and currently working on a silver diploma which I love, continuing for a following year and aiming to combine all my knowledge together. It’s just what you do when you retire isn’t it. Thanks again from sunny Hertfordshire UK
Sounds like a wonderful retirement to me! How lovely! I lived in Herts many years ago… it’s beautiful 😍 Lovely to have you here
Really liked the look of them but so much work! Thank you anyway.an interesting video.
They are labour intensive but soooo worth it ☺️ Thanks for watching 😍
Again it's so wonderful to have found you. Your a fantastic teacher. I plan to make my dog a collar for my Pom/Chi out of this pattern! TY so very kindly
Oh that sounds GORGEOUS! I wish I could see that 🐶
I will send a photo for you to see his birthstone is pearl. I only have fresh water baroche pearls do they are a bit on the lumpy side but he won't care.
I'm almost 71, been playing with many different mediums for jewelry making since I was in my 40's but I have to say your class is the easiest to follow I have found! TY
Thank you so much for your kind comment

So nice to meet you face to face atleast for me. I just love all of your videos. You have a wonderful way of explaining all the steps in each video. I've always been interested in wire wrapping but you have caught my attention that I am going to get what I don't have and do it. I've been looking through my craft supplies and have started a list. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤😊 Kim
You are so welcome! 🤗 and I’m absolutely delighted that you’re inspired to get going. I just know you’ll be hooked 😍 Have fun and please do let me know how you get along

That’s very kind of you, thank you 🤩
I meant to say well done sweety. I personally never ever allow a photo let alone video. So massive congratulations on doing so. I hate the sound of my own voice too. My phone is on silent 💯 of the time. And due to my chronic anxiety I never pick it up unless I'm feeling OK. So to do a video with your face and sound omg well done. I'm venturing into jewellery making myself I'm a complete newbie learning techniques before I dip my toes. Seriously well done hunny should be so proud of yourself. Your beautiful and confident go for it. 🎉
That’s such a lovely thing to say ☺️ Thank you so much ☺️
@samanthalatimer1 only speaking the truth.

Hello, and thank you so much for such lovely words. It’s so kind of you to hang in there with me, whilst I negotiated a very stressful house move and my daughter being very ill. It’s also a privilege to know that you’re inspired too and I’m very grateful for that. Von is so kind and generous and I felt it right to give her and Lily Tree a shout out as they very much inspire me too.
Lovely to have you here 🥰 I’m just working on my next tutorial and a little video of a trip out we had this weekend, when the sun shone and the air was clear and sweet.

You are a wonderful teacher dear Samantha, thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words ☺️ You are so very welcome 🤗
Thank you Samantha for inviting us all to watch your tutorial i love watching your tutorials could please teach us wire wrapping with cabachon please and one more thing were do you get your wire please let me know ❤❤
Thank you so much for your very kind comment.
I get my wire from a UK company www.wires.co.uk They have lots of different sorts of wire and very reasonable prices. So if you’re UK based, I’d go there ☺️
I don’t tend to work with cabochons, but I can direct you to some amazing artists here on RUclips that you will definitely find so helpful: OxanaCrafts, CSLDesigns, Lan Anh Handmade, Ellies Handcrafted Jewellery, and Back To Earth Creations. To name a few. They are incredible at their art and I’m sure you’ll find their tutorials easy to follow and very helpful. 🥰
Beautiful and delicate 😍
Aren’t they lovely 🥰 and so versatile
Love the coil, Sam! I’ve seen videos where they use a coiler, which seems like an expensive item. Thanks for showing how simple it can be without one. You’ve inspired me to take time from my painting and get back to beadwork! I have too many hobbies!
It was nice to put a face to the voice! Very nicely done.
I do love cheaper solutions for things, don’t you!? I have waaay too many hobbies too. There’s just not enough hours in the day 😅
Love that, going to try and make a bracelet out of those, smaller project for a first go. Thanks so much.
They will be gorgeous as a bracelet 😍
Thank you! I love the way to discuss and demonstrate this design! I actually made 10 before I could stop!! Makes very pretty beads!!!
Haha this made me laugh 😆 They’re super addictive aren’t they! They’re definitely very pretty beads 🥰
Thank you for the video. You have lovely hands (not man hands at all!) and you’re a lovely person! I appreciate your calm demeanor and how much you enjoy your craft! Well done!
@@heidijacobsen115 thank you so much ☺️ That’s very kind of you to say 🥰
Thank you for sharing your area of the world and another great tutorial. I enjoy your tutorials and the great explanations you give. I am very much a beginner and learning from these wonderful tutorials. I’m going to go through each of your videos and attempt to make these beauties myself. Thank you for all you do!
Oh this is so lovely! Thank you so much ☺️ I do live in a beautiful part of the world. Maybe I’ll do more videos showing it off in the future 🥰 I’m so glad, that as a beginner, you are finding the tutorials useful. Have a wonderful holiday period ☺️
Hi there, I'm laughing because as you are describing yourself I am saying she could be talking exactly about me! Great job with your video and getting yourself out there!
Ah I love that! It’s so nice to have a kindred spirit in this crazy world 🥰
Hello! This technique is new to me. Your tutorial is clear and I think you did a nice job . Thank you.
Thank you so much for your very kind comment ☺️
❤
❤️
Thank you for sharing your creativity and doing it so clearly & concisely. Just a wee hint. You sometimes have your hands too close to your boda & the piece is not in frame of the camera. Keep up the good work though & again thanks for sharing
I appreciate that very much. I’m trying to improve every video so I hope I’m getting it better every time ☺️
You are a beautiful lady. ❤
That’s very kind, thank you ☺️
You have a beautiful face.❤❤❤❤
Ah thank you ☺️
Is it bad if the coil wire don't all come out the same size. I've been having so much fun doing these. Thank so much I love the way you teach so patiently.
Nothing is ever bad 🥰 It’s all about the process and if you’ve had fun making them, that’s all that matters! I’d say the coil wire can have a beautiful and unique effect if they are slightly less uniform, so it’s a design feature! Thank you for your kind comments 🥰
Thank you for your introduction and your tutorial. I have enjoyed your clear instructions. May I know which brand is your long nose chain nose pliers and the Austrian pearls you used?
Hello 👋 My long nose pliers are by Tronex. And the pearls were from Swa rovski, but I don’t think you can purchase them anymore.
Made the collar, he loves it. How ever my daughter-in-law said the pearls were to girly. Lol So I used some small imperial stone beads I had. He looks so stylish! TY so very much Samantha. How can I send you a pic of it? Or him with it on?
I have an email…!! I would LOVE to see it.

Love the tutorial, but the sound is not so great
I trialled doing the tutorials in my lounge, so the sound wasn’t great on this particular one. Sorry about that. The rest of my videos are done in a different room, so you shouldn’t have any problems with those ☺️
Wow nice.Thank you for this video.😃
You’re very welcome ☺️ Thank you for watching
