    Beautiful, but I am a clod. I would have an awful time getting the "rays" on. I'm going to use the bottom wire of the ray for my frame. I will cut and bend after I do the rays. What do you think?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  7 месяцев назад

      Totally a good way to do it, for sure. Lots of people do it that way actually. I just do it this way as I find the bottom wire can get a little “battered” in the weaving process and I’m just a bit of a perfectionist lol 😂 But absolutely do it your way… it’ll look gorgeous 🥰

    Is there a reason you don’t just build it on the first wire? Once you’re done with the wire wrapping, can’t you just pull the three upper wires out, then bend the remaining wire? That seems simpler….but nicely done, nonetheless.

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  9 месяцев назад +17

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  3 месяца назад

      It does turn green for some people. It depends on your skin. You can use a preservative wax to help stop tarnish, or you can get sprays I believe. I’d use a sterling ear wire to help in the ear too ☺️

  • @lynnb1108

    I used them as drops and made a sunburst necklace with each getting smaller further from the center ...center burst is the largest sunburst drop which I made larger with a larger gemstone for the center bead and more length plus more bursts each one gets smaller with corresponding fewer bursts and smaller gemstone, plus I used a small seed bead on the apex of each burst ....think of it as a bead being on the bend/end of each long burst or a better description is a bead threaded on the wrapping wire on the 4 wire wrap or the apex of the repeating bursts( hope that helps you visualize ...so in your piece it would be 5 beads...thank you for the tutorial it helped get me out of a mental fog & inspired me to do something different with your design as my starting off point

    Hi! New to wire working. Why not use the base wires already in place to prevent possibly losing the wraps already made?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  9 месяцев назад

      You could certainly use the bottom base wire and bend that into shape the frame, but I find it easier to remove the wrapped section on place it on the frame after. It’s completely up to you how you do that part 🥰 Whenever I’ve tried to bend the frame with the wrapped section on it, the wraps tend to become distorted ☺️

    Is the 24 gauge wire for weaving also half hard? I’m wanting to order the wire I need to make these and want to make sure to get the right thing.

      I use half hard, so that should be ok 🥰

    I'm looking forward to having a go at making these, just a little worried because I'm a little heavy handed with the thinner wire 😅

      Ah you’ll be fine. Although a couple of people have suggested using the bottom base wire as the frame and bend that into shape with the wrapped wire on. That would be ok too. This is just how I make mine 🥰 Have fun 🤩

    Can these be made with sterling silver wire as well and would I use the same gauge that you use in the copper - I have never made my own earring finding so it it a little timidatingvto mr

      You absolutely could make these from sterling. They’d look beautiful 😍

    Just wondering, instead of pulling it off the last wire would it work if I just cut the base wire to the size I needed instead of transferring it?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  9 месяцев назад

      You can totally do that 👌🏼 I just do it this way as it’s the best for me, but the beauty of jewellery making is that anything goes. 🥰

      Hello, and thank you! ☺️ I have to be honest and say I am not great at gemstones or stone wrapping and it’s something I’m learning myself. I can direct you to a couple of artists here on RUclips who are amazing: Oxana Crafts and Back to Earth creations. They’re superb 👌🏼

    Qué tan bueno es el alambre de cobre para la bisutería?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  8 месяцев назад

      Es muy bueno y muy asequible. Si lo tratas con un tratamiento de cera y lo mantienes limpio, es un excelente metal para joyería y tiene un color encantador.
