Anyone who hurt themself must not of had the schematics.
I solved my problem by never buying from them
🤣🤣🤣🤣
His last statement, "If I had the schematics, I could keep thousands of iPhones out of landfills and save customers thousands of dollars on phones" is exactly why Apple and other companies don't want us to repair our devices ourselves.
They don't even want their "authorized repair dealers" to be able to fix them. Many will diagnose the problem and then say it can't be repaired without huge expenses vs purchasing a new unit. This happens for even the most basic and simple repairs beyond a new screen being replaced and a huge expense as well.
Same thing with so many other companies
I was just about to say the same thing.
Amen, you nailed it.
Yep...and notice how appliances in general don't last nearly as long as they used to...this is intentional
I love how their best defense against right to repair is “you will hurt yourself”. Ok. Let me hurt myself repairing my devices please. That is a acceptable risk and I dissolve the company of any risk.
It's like repairing your car, which is, in my opinion even more dangerous then a small computing device/cellular phone

How is this move (by Apple, the final boss of capitalism), not a capitalism issue?

Once devices start failing, minds will change.

I find Apple's whole "unsafe to replace batteries" argument absolutely ridiculous. It wasn't that long ago that an openable battery cover was a standard feature on most phones, so that you could replace it without needing to open up the entire phone. Samsung even managed to do this while having the phone be water resistant on the Galaxy S 5.
I still have my S5. Only had to replace the battery once the whole time I've had it
@@CamJam312 My backup phone, a Sony Ericsson K810i, has probably needed two new batteries since I first got it. In 2008. And that thing has been in use on a fairly regular basis.
Maybe it's the same reason we see a seizure warning in every game now: liability. All it takes is one.
Well they can't just come out and say that they want all the money for repairs and it's a huge part of their business model to get all that money.
Watched/commenting from my Galaxy Note 4. I've replaced the battery 5 or 6 times and it's still going fine, so I haven't needed a new phone. It's easier than changing the AA batteries in a TV remote.
Fixed my Apple problems by not buying them anymore. Haven't had a problem since.

"Keep old electronic out of landfills" is probably one of the better arguments. The absolute best argument is, "can you fill your politicians pockets with more money than the lobbyists can?"
NoOneOfConsequence tbh politicians don’t really care about the environment/pollution/climate change over high revenue making industries.
The money argument is that monopolies and oligopolies tend to stagnate economy quite quickly. But that’s a long term argument and one politicians don’t care about either.

Nimras AKA Wipeout uh ok listen. There’s something you must know. Factually the global temperature average has gone up over the last 30 years. So the climate has changed and the globe has warmed. But we’re talking less that 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit. And it’s likely to go back down.
Now An área in which I think you and I will agree is that humans did not/cannot affect the temperature on such a magnitude even if they wanted to. The temperature has changed a bit slightly up and down for billions of years we are just on an up. It hasn’t drastically changed since the ice age.
So there is a hoax yes.
What’s more likely?
The earth drastically changing all of the sudden after remaining at a consistent temperature for thousands of years.

I’m an ASE certified auto mechanic and have been doing electrical diagnostic work for years. I’m right there with you. Nothing is more frustrating than being told you can’t have a schematic and have to buy a $2000 module which is on back order (because it’s faulty) and end up having to spend hours tracking down a badly soldered (from factory) board or connection which would have only taken a few minutes to isolate with the diagram and taken a few cents to fix.
It’s absolutely infuriating when they’re the ones that sent it to you in the first place because they couldn’t figure it out (always a German manufacturer for some reason). SPRINTER VANS ARE HELL.
But I’m not bitter...
Cummins Diesel engine manufacturer makes you purchase a contract to do repairs on their engines. You must purchase your own laptop and when you purchase their diagnostic program they send you the program and attachment cables and give you a password to your computer to get into the program. It last for one year and then shuts down. You must continue to buy from them if you want the diagnostic information. No more buying a scan tool. And if you think that you can copy it from another computer don't. The program will install but you can't access it. Each password is for a single computer, I know, we tried. As for apple saying its proprietary is bullshit, they would make a ton of money doing what Cummins does and licensing the repair program and selling it. Last Friday an Executive Order was signed that includes a provision directing the Federal Trade Commission to issue rules preventing manufacturers from imposing restrictions on independent device repair shops and DIY repairs. While cellphone makers aren't the only ones facing criticism for obstructing repairs, the order specifically calls them out for practices that make repairs "more costly and time consuming."
Its not rocket science to know why they dont want others to repair their products. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ most of the apple repair estimates are so large people just buy a new phone. you would be sticking your hand into apples wallet and they will never let you do that .
Apples will sell you a product for 6x or more then what it cost to manufacture, then they still charge you more then the cost to manufacture for repairs. Either way, they make money off the flock no matter what.
If Apple could have it its way, it'd rig the device to explode if a battery screw was loosened.
@@DownandOutNYC - While greed is definitely their motivation for not wanting people to repair their products, your point about them selling items "for 6x or more then [sic] what it cost [sic] to manufacture..." is just dumb and completely irrelevant. When I was 12 I was making an account for my second MMO game on PC, I didn't know a thing about electronics back then, what a cool life that kid has had so far learning that stuff so many years earlier than me
then the apple representative stood up and said: that argument is invalid because I paid the government to say so.
@Common Sense Realist the fact your ideas on law are scewed into a funnel makes me laugh, they are debating a much needed change to law
People need to stop buying iPhones and move on to other devices.
I drop iphone and don't miss shit. My sony have a sd card for memory and the third party apps kick ass. Also without jail breaking my phone I unlocked the developable options in the settings so change my Bluetooth frequency to work with my radio.
I can't believe the sheep just keep throwing their hard earned cash at apple and for no other reason than vanity. There is NOTHING an iPhone can do that any other smart phone can't, except other smart phones can swap files with each other and use each others chargers, yet somehow these apple fans keep insisting their shit is better.
Please explain HOW?
Moto G Power. Fantastic phone, only about 200 bucks.
Pretty sure more people own Android phones, so who are the sheep these days?
I tried Android once and didn’t last a year, the apps were subpar and the Google Pixel 2 XL was glitchy on a daily basis. Apple just works seamlessly and intuitively, things that needed an unnecessary number of steps on Android, just take a minimal amount in iOS. Yes there were features I loved on the Pixel but ultimately convenience won me back not to mention the premium design that Apple leads.
@@SPQR_14 I have the Moto g stylus right now lol. I love it.
Might want to invite a crowd of students (and make them raise their hands) who are either:
-Taking back one year of study because an otherwise easy to repair electronic could not be repaired due to DRM, or lost the ability to finish their studies in the same situation
-Had their studies saved by someone who was told by Apple the data was hopelessly lost...
The funny thing about battery replacement, is that back in the Nokia brick phone days, the battery sometimes just flew away when you dropped the phone.
I still have a working Nokia which fell down many times. Every time it was in pieces, put together again and working fine. I even have replacement batteries for it to swap quickly.
@@MaxxMcGeePrivate I have a Nokia phone too, that probably works, but obviously nobody used it for ages.
This happens on modern smartphones with removable batteries as well (galaxy s5, etc.). It was really nice since it prevented the screen from cracking by transferring the momentum to the battery and back cover.
I used to have a phone with a flimsy back cover, and had to use silicone to stop the battery falling out. Now we have the opposite problem.
Apple with their ads that don’t allow you your right to “stop seeing this ad” makes me genuinely want to join the company just to actively sabotage it and any of its employees I possibly can. Simply to make the statement, not because I hate them by association to the apple corporation. I shouldn’t have to exit a video and click on it again to get an ad that I’m able to skip using the stop seeing this ad option.

Next time, report the ad and it should skip.
@@Orpheus1356 I do it all the time and nothing changes. I quit drinking alcohol years ago and am still in recovery, and I see nothing but ads for alcohol. I report every ad for alcohol they show and I still get the same ones over and over.
@@thomasmitchell4128 Damn, sorry to hear that dude. Stay strong.
@@thomasmitchell4128 for all their ridiculously invasive data mining on us they never get a clue. Just because I, a minor, am listed as being forty something, the platform advertises alcohol to me as well. Like, it is proven that google’s data tracking algorithms accurately determine and permanently retain peoples’ ages, race, career field, etc. Yet they don’t even use that for the targeted advertising. Leaving me with only one question: What makes you think that data is yours to collect and analyze? Because the reason you have given is bullshit. And yes, that is rhetorical. And yes, if they still take the wrong bloody hint, then my initial suggestion stands in my mind the only appropriate response.
