The third War Within tier list is all about ranged dps hero talents and reworks (where they do apply) and boy do we have some insights! At this point, all war within classes have changes and while some are total reworks, some are still bland and basically play the same (Boomkin?)
Our war within ranged rankings will be based purely on what we tested on the war within beta and it will evolve both hero and spec talents. Take it with a grain of salt as every week we get waves of changes but it’s fun to rank them nevertheless!

You're much nicer than I am. As an Elemental Shaman player I have it in F tier. I actually hate the state of the spec and the hero talents are not helping
I really like the lightning build. Feels like a lot of instant chain lightnings with stormkeepers and tempest plus a ton of earthquake spamming in AOE. What does everyone dislike about it?
@@nlerias1 we dislike that tempest sucks so much that its actually a big dps increase to run a macro on lightning bolt that cancels tempest aura and lets us cast the lightning bolt. =p

BM has more dots then affliction locks and Spriests, its a full on dot spec now 6 dots if u you include black arrow, and a BM talent that buffs dots/crit

MM Hunter is currently probably one of the craziest Mythic+ dps classes. The new Barrage with Volley will probably wipe whole rooms on its own...
Are you talking about Barrage or the talent after Rapid fire barrage?
@@Diguez I meant the Rapid Fire Barrage (because lets be real, no one will take standard Barrage on its own).
Volley provides Trickshots as long as it is on the battlefield, so all those Rapid Fires from the Barrage will bounce.

It's day 1000 and shamans still didn't receive any mention of a rework. If anyone thinks that shaman doesnt need a rework let me say this:
How in the hell is it okay that your fillers do more damage than your spenders. Bushfire build literally makes lightning, chainlightning, Earthshock and earthquake obsolete outside of Stormkeeper and proccing lavaburst
btw currently it is a gain of dps to do a cancel aura to remove tempest procs and cast the lightning bolt =p imagine designing hero talent tree where u activelly want to remove the hero spell XD roflmao
shaman has so many problems baseline that hero talents just came and increased those even more. needs a rework from ground up
That's the reason I dropped shaman this season and switched to warlock. There is no hope for shaman (both DPS) unless they turn it up side down....

BM hunter damage is low, only because Animal Companion is once again (for the 9000th time) bugged and your second pet is just not attacking anything, but the 35% dmg reduction is still in effect. Once it is fixed, dmg is going up massively. I tried doing some single target testing and BM hunter, with a single pet, and it is not that far behind destro and shadow priest etc. It is weird having to hyperfixate so much into doing fixed 1min CD dmg focus profile, though.
as Arcane, if you take concentrated power talent, you dont need to cast arcane misiles on AOE to proc the hero talents, you can use the clearcasting proc on an arcane explosion empowered
For spellslinger arcane mage, btw, arcane barrage, will ALSO consume the nether precision buff so you don't necessarily need to use arcane blast. I've been running the node where my arcane barrage has a chance to fire an arcane orb for AOE scenarios, and it feels down right amazing. It has the chance at becoming a nice rotation of firing the missiles, using two barrages (assuming i get the orb to fire for free with it) or Missiles>Barrage>orb>Barrage, repeat. All-in-all, Arcane Spellslinger has been amazing fun.
Fire mage is so good. Blizzard really nailed the fantasy

I really wanted shaman to work... I think I'm going to go with stormbringer anyway just because I've wanted to main ele for years now
BM is bugged right now. Your second pet doesn’t do any damage and you still get the -35% penalty
Came here to say this. Don't judge BM right now based on damage, it's completely screwed until they fix the bugs.
I miss Legion Affliction Warlock! It was PEAK, for me. Just go back to that, Blizzard, PLEASE!! Same for BFA Balance Druid. It was simple, easy and IT PUMPED! Can we get back to that pls?

I switched to Warlock in Dragonflight. I was tempted by Shadow Priest and Fire Mage which I also played quite a bit but it's looking like I'm going to stay with my good ole Warlock.
They should give BM hunters some other gameplay. Get one pet for each pet type and constantly summon them and switch between them like pokemon for different bonuses from each type.
Keep in mind that the dps tracking addons like Details are not accurately representing BM Hunter atm because it’s not tracking the damage by the pets

I prefer Seed + Soul Flame for Aff as well for aoe. If Seed is only gonna spread dots, it should spread more than one dot or be insta cast. The spec tree seems better for the most part but not quite perfect yet
Destro and Demo hero talents are looking pretty good though, assuming a few more changes are coming for the spec trees i'll be super ecstatic.
Mages seem like the biggest winner to me, their hero talents just nail it. Fire Mage has been my big weakness though, just never really clicked for me, maybe this time it'll be different.

Kind of sad that my beloved shaman and druid are so lackluster....but maybe it's time for me to try a pure dps class again. Mage was looking rather sexy...and I have been eying priest for awhile.

The winner's of the hero talents/ "reworks" talent wise feel amazing. While the losers well ugh yea. It's crazy atleast to me. That they are looking to move toward more "evergreen features" for wow. With hero talent's being the first of these new "evergreen features". That literally everyone will interact with right away. It's the most important one to nail. You can't have only 1/2 of them be good to great. With the remaining 1/2 being made of eh it's alright. But it's not as good as one of the better ones. Or even worse, some are just down right awful. Like pack leader could of been an email. One of the cornerstones of your expansion/path forward on your new push for ever green features. Is already falling flat on it's face.
I hate to say it. But I see them being almost as polarizing as covenants. It's great that you can freely swap them. But if some just are boring or suck visually. They will start to get disliked. Throw in the impossibility of trying to balance a system like this. You have a recipe for disaster. You have these specs, some of which don't have fun or interesting gameplay. Don't look cool. In the cases of hunters. Both Dark Ranger and Pack leader are meh at best. With the later being well, some one has to be last tier. Sorry about your luck. You have all that going on just gameplay/visual wise. Then you have to start trying to answer. What if one of your hero talent specs is great/cool, but the other sucks? What if the one that sucks is better dps/hps? It's going to feel awful. All the while you get to be jealous of the cool kids on the block, that got really cool ones. Or ones that got balanced to be closer to each other.
Good luck trying to salvage them in 11.5/7 or 11.1. If you even can. What ripcord is their to pull exactly? More dev time/redesigning them is all you can do. But if they launch with what I fear will be the above problems. It won't matter what you do in 11.5/7 or 11.1 Just like with covenants even once the rip cord was pulled. The damage was done. The system was already mortally wounded. It's crazy how this wasn't a bigger priority for them. Delves could flop. Would it suck yea. But it's not expansion breaking. People can still do what they always have done raids, m+ and pvp. If hero talents flop? If I have to sit and look at my friends with all these cool toys. While I sit here with crap. I'm not waiting around for them to maybe fix them in a couple months. I'm just going to quit. Then it won't matter if delves are good. It won't matter that warbands are shaping up to be cool quality of life. It won't matter if your new m+ affixes where good or not. It won't matter if your new battle ground was good.
The main way I interact with the game. Isn't cool or fun. So why would I keep playing?

Elemental Shaman is in such a weird spot it still have a bunch of problems, i think it needs a big rework similar to other ranged specs!

Too many talents that make one spell buff another spell, making for weird rotation interactions and punishing any mistakes, imo. It feels more confusing than fun.
@@TheNynax True! I think a rework will benefit both lightning and fire build and the hero talents as well but it needs to happen soon! so people have time to test it!

What ranged class is the easiest to play that doesn't have a ton of spells or cooldowns?
for affliction, i think rapture is better for aoe as it allows spread cleave. it feels 8.5/10 right now, they need to make every 2 point talent 1 point and make darkglare feel useful in aoe (its fine for st, but could be a bit better) then the spec is fixed. vile taint not lining up with agony isn't awful, you only need to keep it up on 4-5 targets and that's easy when mobs last long enough. hard to test it properly in heroics, same as spriest.
14:07 Holy-moly those bolts! there's no way they could make it out of test server.
Spriest: Aoe resource consumer is spreading DP to as many targets as you can. Spawning Appirations that do the aoe and DP on 3+ targets melts.
Also shadow crash comes off cooldown with 7ish seconds left on the dots it applies
This. Do not bring mindsear back. In fact don't mention it at all. Mindsear was an abomination on the same level as Malefic Rapture is.

before release I bet these A tier specs get the nerf bat and your F tier hunter goes to the top.
Started playing Deva on DF and it's exceptionally one dimensional. Also farming the leggo sounds impossible at this point. Gonna try Destro and get used to it then. My main is shaman but it's more like shakid at this point as it's all random and nothing makes sense anymore with Ele and resto.

Sentinel MM is S-tier right now tho. The kit is just too good, and that added survivability is just what hunters have needed for a long time.

Balance druid mains agree. Each change just gets worse and worse. All while we watch beauitful reworks to hunters, locks, priests, paladins, etc.

100%. Malefic Rapture was the dumbest idea they EVER came up with for Affliction. No one and I mean, no one wants it. Its just one more tedious ability that we have to track and set up for anything meaningful. I hate and most people I know hate it. Seed should be our main AOE ability, period. Its what it was made for and they kept nerfing it and kept making it mediocre. Their issue is they cant come up with a good shard spender so we are stuck with this crap.
I agree with everything but the fact that seed should be our main air ability. While I do like using it once in a while it being 90% of our damage isn’t fun, I don’t feel like an affliction lock I just feel like a worse version of destruction tbh.
@11:40 I think this is what most players feel. the top % players are not trying to get the dude at work or their new gf to try out the game like average players do. in contrast the top % are trying to clear everything and unsub out of "lack of content" that they just speed ran through.

I never liked this change at all, having the same rotation in both aoe and st gets old so fast, I do miss mind sear too. Not to mention how hard it is to balance PL, it’s either broken or dogshit

Honestly can't believe you think elemental shaman doesn't need a rework. Our defensiveness is some of the worst in the game. We bring absolutely nothing unique. Our AOE requires a minimum of 3 globals to do damage (to 4 targets) in fire spec. We have had literally 0 communication from the dev team since having our hero talents dropped and went into beta without some of them being implemented while fire mage is getting complete reworked after having a class overhaul during dragonflight. Shaman are pissed off. Farseer is F tier. Tempest is ok but needs some love and we haven't even seen a (lightning bolt increased by 1%)
