This actually be the most genuine terror I’ve ever seen be conveyed in a role. Nothing but pure, unrestrained, desperate fear brought forth by Rob Morgan here - and it’s as disturbing as it is brilliant.
The likelihood of it being demonic in the traditional sense is basically zero. Demons are the antagonistic forces of various religions, this thing doesn't fit that.
I was disappointed this part of the film was never explored further...ie his life before he was "cursed"...and did he randomly choose his victim or did he select her deliberately because he felt she somehow "deserved" it??? I gotta say if I had to choose suicide and passing it on as a curse to others, murder then passing on the curse to others, or just regular suicide with no 4th option I'd just hideaway somewhere and if I was American I'd be fortunate and just bring a gun with me to end it all as quickly painlessly& quietly on my own as possible (I think this film was an analysis metaphor of ptsd and the resulting side-mental illnesses that inevitably come along with it or after it) Edit Or like how abuse victims or SO/SA victims often go on to be abusers/perpetrators themselves....
The problem with this is the creature would toy with your mind and make you perceive things that you aren’t actually doing. For instance the scene when she tries to kill the mentally ill man from earlier in the movie. What she perceived was her killing him and succeeding only to wake up still in her car in the parking lot to the hospital. You would think you have a gun in your hand and go to shoot yourself only to wake up still in bed or something, it wouldn’t allow you to die that way.
I would think he tried to fight it as long as possible but reached a breaking point and did it at random. Considering his reaction I wouldn’t be surprised if he had held out until he saw its true form.
Yep. Says it all. He did something evil to escape that Entity and it's back in front of him and the woman with it lied to him to gain access to him just like she lied to that grieving widowed wife. His demeanor says even if he's free of that entity, he'll never be free of that traumatic event.
That was part of the point of this movie. The demon is sexual and about false sexual liaisons like with a fiancé who couldn't' care less about you or people smiling when they want to kill you. Joel did care, but he ended up dying with her to save her. That really bothered me, but I guess his love wasn't strong enough, more like rekindling an old attraction.
This movie is as good as it is because everyone is giving a 110% performance, the affect would be significantly weaker if the actors just phoned it in. But nope, the victims showing their fear, the people portraying the entity, giving that award winning smile, they earned their paycheck.
imagine if Smile 2, the next protagonist gets the smile demon. Finds a work around like he/she commits to killing themselves far from civilization where no one can see him so the demon can't transfer to a witness.... Or so they thought when the end credits scene has this same guy in prison and the smile demon comes back to him as the last guy who had the curse and was still alive.
@@leondreamcastyep basically after watching smile 2. Also funny because she responded to a man from an “unknown” number to meet up and actually think she could genuinely get rid of it as well.

I wonder if a true psychopath could end the cycle. You try to pass it on but he feels no shock or terror from it. Imagine somehow making that the protagonist of the movie...

Maybe someone like the Joker. There's a comic where he teams up with Scarecrow, but Scarecrow ends up getting fed up with Joker's attitude and exposes him to his Fear Toxin, but the toxin doesn't seem to affect Joker as he only mocks at Scarecrow, asking if he has cherry.
After watching both movies I understand why he was so adamant for her to leave and for "The patient" to make it count. The entity is ever creative with its torment
If you think about it, no two victims of the thing ever met so the only chance both of them might have had would have been if they had actually stuck together and tried to fight the thing at once

The likelihood of it being demonic in the traditional sense is basically zero. Demons are the antagonistic forces of various religions, this thing doesn't fit that.
@myremedy7691 what would you say it is?
it's trauma. . metaphorically and literally
I was disappointed this part of the film was never explored further...ie his life before he was "cursed"...and did he randomly choose his victim or did he select her deliberately because he felt she somehow "deserved" it???
I gotta say if I had to choose suicide and passing it on as a curse to others, murder then passing on the curse to others, or just regular suicide with no 4th option I'd just hideaway somewhere and if I was American I'd be fortunate and just bring a gun with me to end it all as quickly painlessly& quietly on my own as possible (I think this film was an analysis metaphor of ptsd and the resulting side-mental illnesses that inevitably come along with it or after it)
Edit Or like how abuse victims or SO/SA victims often go on to be abusers/perpetrators themselves....
@@duckman9467 mental illness analogous
More intelligent than the average slasher horror
@@curiositypiqued6573 you what now?
I would think he tried to fight it as long as possible but reached a breaking point and did it at random.
Considering his reaction I wouldn’t be surprised if he had held out until he saw its true form.
Yep. Says it all. He did something evil to escape that Entity and it's back in front of him and the woman with it lied to him to gain access to him just like she lied to that grieving widowed wife. His demeanor says even if he's free of that entity, he'll never be free of that traumatic event.
..... joel was a good man to rose unlike her husband.
a train
A train wtf are you talking bout
That was part of the point of this movie. The demon is sexual and about false sexual liaisons like with a fiancé who couldn't' care less about you or people smiling when they want to kill you. Joel did care, but he ended up dying with her to save her. That really bothered me, but I guess his love wasn't strong enough, more like rekindling an old attraction.
@@TeaCoffee-mc3jt the actor of the husband also plays as a character named a train
@@comradejuxfrom the boys.
God damn that scene was effective
Is it just me or Robert thinks that rose has brought an entity with her
she did
2:16
Joker: I have a fish, do you want it? 🐟
If there's a sequel he better be in it.
@LNRTUBE79it comes out in September or October. I forgot the exact date
@@IamonthepedestalOctober. Trailer just came out.
Hell Naw…he ain’t taking anything back from no one
Maybe in the 3rd movie
Um yeah about that... The flops made a crappy sequel.
That’s pretty much how I reacted back during the covid outbreak when someone was telling me that the were infected…
It's weird. I think of long covid and how it caused these pangs of terror in me from time to time. There is kind of a covid link in this movie.
This was my fave scene, brilliant acting
Honestly, very fair reaction
They desperately need to revisit this storyline, the potential is insane ( more so than whatever bullshit was the ending of 2)
Except, part 2 was a flop
Great acting from him
His acting is so good
This scene has a lot more weight after watching Smile 2.
2:20 I'm not familiar with this mans work. But he needs some rolls in stuff I watch. He brought out of sheer emotion.
2:21 when my kidney stones come back
Drink more water. Way more.
To me he's not telling her to get away from him hes sayings it to something else....
Actually he was so afraid to witness Rose being possessed that moment and killing herself allowing the demon targeting him again. Cannot blame him
Best scene in the movie. Rob Morgan stole the show here.
Such great acting
I get literal CHILLS when he begins to react..... 😩 Just a brilliant performance!!!
Same this scene in the Cinema his reacting made my eyes water up and get chills.
I feel so bad for the guy 😔
Turk Barrett ain't gonna let something like this get him down. Nothing can defeat the amazing world renowned Turk Barrett, Wundercriminal!
This movie is as good as it is because everyone is giving a 110% performance, the affect would be significantly weaker if the actors just phoned it in. But nope, the victims showing their fear, the people portraying the entity, giving that award winning smile, they earned their paycheck.
Props to the actors here! Awesome scene.
that's actually chilling. kudos.
This film is much better then the 2nd one
Agreed
imagine if Smile 2, the next protagonist gets the smile demon. Finds a work around like he/she commits to killing themselves far from civilization where no one can see him so the demon can't transfer to a witness.... Or so they thought
when the end credits scene has this same guy in prison and the smile demon comes back to him as the last guy who had the curse and was still alive.
that’s the thing the demon would most likely inflict delusions to make you think you did before you can
@@leondreamcastyep basically after watching smile 2. Also funny because she responded to a man from an “unknown” number to meet up and actually think she could genuinely get rid of it as well.
Good acting
Who is the actor for the prisoner cuz as a black man I have come to understand that most of my people that come from harsh environments become hardened emotionally so I haven’t really seen that expression of fear on a black man before and it honestly scared me more than a lot of things in general
Rob Morgan
Were you born yesterday?
I literally LMFAO at this scene because i could only imagine how terrified 'ol boy was after Rose hinted him that she has the curse and the fact she can pass it back to him 🤣
It's a suicide demon that makes you see very horrific things before it kills you anyone would be scared
😂😂😂😂
This scene had a bit of twist...he told the cop to leave so the cop wont hear how the curse gets passed on & at the end ....well you know what happen.
The film stands with no ground but that it is an outstandinly horrifying film.
I wonder if a true psychopath could end the cycle. You try to pass it on but he feels no shock or terror from it.
Imagine somehow making that the protagonist of the movie...
Well, I think the Entity would still find some way to scare a psychopath. Even if it's not fear, the Entity will do something to make them uncomfortable.
Here's an example. In Stephen King's story "IT", there was the character Patrick Hockstetter who was a true psychopath. When Pennywise appeared to Patrick, Its face was melting and hardening like wax as if It was having trouble deciding what form to take to scare Patrick. But despite difficulty, Pennywise knew one thing that would make Patrick afraid. It created an illusion of leaches all over his body sucking his blood. Even having one in his mouth sucking on his tongue and one sucking his eyeball. Pennywise did this because when Patrick was a boy, he went swimming in a lake with his parents one time and there were leeches all over him, leaving him traumatized. As Pennywise was about to kill Patrick, Patrick was truly horrified because he believed that he was the only real living person and that everyone else were just figments of his imagination. That when Patrick dies, all of life will end too. This is known as solipsism disorder.
So if the smile entity encounters a psychopath who claims they cannot be scared, the entity will do whatever it can to frighten the person.
Imagine the victim laughing back at the entity with an insane intent to kill with no fear. Lol
A true psychopath will traumatize the entity
@@ryanstauffer119solipsism is not a disorder, it's a metaphysical/ theologian philosophical idea.
She was so good in this film.
After watching both movies I understand why he was so adamant for her to leave and for "The patient" to make it count. The entity is ever creative with its torment
He would rather be in prison than having the smile entity infecting him
2:22, when you see your crazy ex again.
Why did she come? That’s super obvious why she came.
How would he know? Multiple people probably came through there abd asked questions. Probably thought it was just another nosey reporter or doctor
Well, she did put his life in danger to save her's after all. That was selfish.
@@MrHyde-ku5qj She was practically done being nice to people
@@MrHyde-ku5qj If you are scared and desperate finding a way to get rid of that curse, would you call yourself selfish? I wouldn't.
2:21 - 2:41 this scene cracked me up 😂😂
You're so cool and edgy wow!
How mf??
How? It was a very intense and serious situation?
The next movie should be a prequel about one of the previous hosts.
So you want the same movie to be made three times
@ wtf are you talking about?
Let's Hope He wasn't Watching TV during 'Smile 2'...
Did that guy win an Oscar 😂
When you run into your ex in public: 2:28
😂😂😂
Or a coworker
If you think about it, no two victims of the thing ever met so the only chance both of them might have had would have been if they had actually stuck together and tried to fight the thing at once
So you can’t get rid of it you can only pass it on
if you're wondering why this guy looks familiar, he's Officer Powell on Stranger Things
When your mom shows up unannounced 2:24
