The realization that you can't beat the smile demon because it has complete control of your mind and can show you whatever it wants and makes you do whatever it wants was terrifying
The guy in prison in the first movie was able to pass it successfully and Joel was also able to pass it successfully. I thought it was kinda dumb they just killed him off by getting hit by a small truck.
@@suspiciousactivity4266 Yeah but i think there is a timeline like by forth or fifth day it completely takes control also i think mental health plays a big part like the weaker your mental health is the more control it has on you
It is scary but it also feels a bit lazy from a narrative standpoint. There’s been 2 movies now and there appears to be no explanation as to how you can defeat the demon (even if if you can) so as a viewer I don’t feel the urge to be emotionally invested in whoever the third film’s protagonist is because I’m expecting them to ultimately die helplessly like the last two protagonists.
After watching part 2 as well I notice in the beginning of both movies the main character is usually given a choice to do something that would help themselves and made the wrong decision In part one the main character was told to go home and get rest n stop over working herself and she decided to take on one more client which was the possessed client And in this one she was told to go get rest cause she had an early schedule in the morning…. But she left her hotel to get the drugs for her back when she then comes into contact with the possessed drug dealer
To be fair the entity responded for the drug dealer which inevitably made her go, if it didn’t provoke her into coming. He literally says “I don’t remember texting you wtf” lol but he just assumes he was so high he didn’t remember doing that
I was so scared that I covered my eyes for most of the film and at the point where the girl is smiling in the bed and a loud noise happens, I screamed out loud.
Gemma does interact with her mother, but her mother doesn't interact with Gemma at all, so I guess it was real that she was late for rehearsal but Gemma was never there.
I was going to comment this LOL yeah, she was never there and the whole freezer incident also never happened. I'm not entirely sure this fella knows anything that was going on during the movie LMAO
Gemma even says I never stayed the night on the phone when she called her when the smile "gemma" was driving. That's the first time they talked since she left the first voicemail... she was never there until the end
It reminds me of the Boiled One phenomenon. Red demon that ingrained itself into a victims mind after they see it, and both are also HUGE. That being said, I'd much rather die from the Smiler than the Boiled One, because at least the Smiler has the decency to kill you after about a week.
@@kiriseraph9674 what if since we know there’s possibly gonna be another film and so many people watched it in the audience if this entity feeds off of trauma what if it encounter someone with no trauma, would that person be able to fight back against it in a sense ?
@@spanishchristian What I think would be interesting in that regard is what if it was passed on to someone who finds no trauma in death, but instead it’s the opposite; i.e.: a serial killer or a genuine psychopath
The mother never interacts with the BFF after the sleepover, it was when I realized Gemma would never be real. Gemma says something to the mother but the mother doesnt answer and she didnt have anything to say about them reconciling. The mom was the one pushing it just a couple scenes earlier, its weird she wouldnt react to seeing the bff or even say "im really glad to see you reaching out" or anything.
Tbh I didn't even realize this when I saw that part. I just thought the mom didn't say anything cause she was mad that Skye was late but now I see what y'all mean
@@kiriose i’m worried that the smile franchise might just become like final destination. I mean, we all know how the movies are going to end there’s no escaping death. The only thing that’s entertaining is how a person dies. The smile movie that’s entertaining is the jump scares
@@Jay-fw6jo I hope it doesn't become like Final Destination - I think it would feel repetitive and also betray their own storytelling. I feel like some characters should escape the curse while others don't, so that way you keep it fresh and you don't know if the character is going to survive or die in each Smile sequel. Because Smile has dived into the mental health theme, especially with this one, it's lame if every single character never overcomes the entity even if they're super dedicated to understanding and fighting it.
There are so many things that make the Smile franchise unique than just dumbing it down to "Horror movies are about how people die" of course they are. The mythology of the creature I think is the main lure or bait for myself. Parker Finn, the director mentioned that although they will reveal more about the entity in future titles, they'll never give too much away. Which to me sounds like at least 3-5 movies to flesh out an adequate arc or chapters for that world and the entity. So let's not be too hasty to count things out. Lol Solid sequel tho, the scope has broadened taking the home video feel of the first to a slick/sleek interpretation that enhances all the beats from the first. I don't think this one is as good as the first but I'd still give it a 7.5. The first would have to be an 8-8.5.
Gemma does NOT interact with Skye’s mom. She says hello Elizabeth and the mom says nothing. Much like Sixth Sense. Bruce Willis’s character thought he was interacting but when they go back he’s just in the room. No one else sees him. Also. Morris was the best character. We really wanted to see him help her…… 🤪
I agree, I also think that from the moment she hit her head on the piano that nothing was real from then on, she was in a coma from then until the start of the concert itself, that would make the most sense.
@@danielsparks1848 that's actually 90% of the film then. I think that there were a few scenes that made sense (was real) from that point, and nothing made sense from the moment she got deepthroated by hand 😅
@@danielsparks1848why would that be? There is so much stuff after that that could easily have happened. It makes most sense that after she met Morris and went back to her room the entity decided to fully possess her in ward off the chances of her stopping it, we see the creature put its arm in her mouth after she gets chased in her room which we’ve been shown is how it possesses, by entering the victim, so after that point it’s all in her head while the entity possesses her to get ready on stage for her show
The mum never acknowledges Gemma’s existence so I theorise that the phone call was the real Gemma and everytime we saw Gemma was the demon. Plus it was strange how Gemma advised Skye not to report Lewis’ death to the police. That was a major red flag.
On top of the fact that she said not to report it she ALSO said it would ruin your reputation with the drugs and everything which is the same thing she kept replaying in her mind, it preyed on her guilt for the accident too, this film was very very well orchestrated
Wow the main actress did amazing!!! I also loved the soundtrack in this movie. I totally wasn’t expecting that ending. This demon really does play mind games with you. I can’t wait to see a smile apocalypse lol
So rose did tell Joel what the black prisoner told her about getting rid of the demon. Man that beginning with Joel was fucked up. He was a good guy man. I didn’t wanna see him go out.
Nah, Rose didn't tell Joel about the prisoner who told her. Joel is a detective. He most likely figured it out himself or went to Tally, the prisoner, for information.
The smile also has another really interesting meaning because the cursed people smile right before they die. It represents an unfortunately common phenomenon where when people who are really depressed actually decide to end it, they cheer up because they feel like they’ve finally solved the problem. And as a result, the people around them typically think they’ve gotten better when it’s the exact opposite.
I haven't seen anyone else talk about this. People think s**cide is this horrible feeling at the end, but it's comforting. Like the suffering is almost over. That's all I could think about with this film.
The smile demon is stronger right now. Everytime it kills someone it gets stronger. Not sure they could make a third about a prequel and have it as crazy as smile 2 was because the demon wouldn’t be strong at the beginning. I mean will see
Smile 2 is my favorite live action horror film, I had so much anxiety the whole movie, the jump scares weren't cheap, they build up Skyes character so much, you feel just as much paranoia as her, and it was visually stunning. The cinematography really made you feel disoriented, I felt exhausted after watching it. It took a lot of inspiration from Perfect Blue (my all time favorite horror film) in how it frames a lonely pop star slowly losing their grip on reality and in how it confuses the audience with what real and what's not. 10/10 in my book. If you can highly recommend watching it in 4D.
If Smile 3 does happen, the demon needs to be a worldwide phenomenon, everybody has to know about it at this point. The opening scene could be a montage that shows social media talking about Skye's death and then people experiencing the demon themselves. It's just happens way too often to too many people that now everybody has no choice but to believe it. It would be a zombie apocalypse but with a possession demon!
@@joseuribe9601 And that is who our main character should be! Someone who has seen so much crap in their life or is a total psychopath that when the smile demon goes up against them, they have no real impact on them. Someone in the same veins as the Doom Guy or Louis Bloom from Nightcrawler. It be the unstoppable force vs the immovable object.
9:13 personally I believe that everything after the scene in her apartment where she had to throat a whole arm was all fake. Her mom shows up on the side of the concert alive and well, meaning when she woke up in the rehab that was all fake even her driving to morris…
I completely agree with you that is the only outcome that would make sense. what he said in the video is actually very dumb because if she killed her mother how could she appear at the concert after that??? she would surely be wanted for murder because no one but her and her mother was in that room.
Yes you’re right. Everything after her trying to leave her apartment was a hallucination. In this video, the guy believes that Gemma was really there and slept over originally and he states its because she said hello to Riley’s mother, however, we never see Riley’s mom interact back with Gemma so I don’t believe that was a real interaction but really something that Riley was envisioning
Yeah when ever it enters the mouth (I've noticed it's when they're the most stressed/traumatized) that seems to be the point where it's really hard to return
Probably the best thing to happen to the record label. They cash in on the insurance for the tour and they don't have to worry about lawsuits cause the entire audience will be dead in a week
i feel one thing ab this movie that even us the audience don’t know what’s real or what’s messing with skye. it could’ve just been the demon tryna fuck with skye or maybe none of that car scene even happened if the real timeline is her performing in the concert
@@jabarishabazz5928when did that happen? I remember in the first time Gemma went and slept over at Skye’s next morning when the mom came in she didn’t say hi to Gemma

this movie has some absolutely shocking scenes… my jaw dropped at some of them. if anyone was actually thinking about watching this movie. I would say YES, but view discretion is advised because this film will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
8:40 she does interact with the mother but the mother doesn’t acknowledge her presense. Also considering her mother is the one who talked her into contacting the friend I feel like it’s implied that if she was real the mother would have said something to her when she walked in.
The dummest part was how a truck driving down a residential neighborhood while it was snowing was able to completely destroy a human body like that it made me mad it made no sense

@@guerrer02613so you can’t fathom that there was literally a guy shooting at someone in the middle of the street and the truck driver wasn’t panicking and tryna dip out asap
I dunno man you described all the mental health issues but you didn’t properly explain the chronology of the movie and what parts were real and the parts that were in her head.
He was also wrong about her mother's death where he said nothing was real from that moment on, so how would she suddenly show up at a concert if she killed her mother? it doesn't make sense... the police would have taken her from the hospital after that and she would have killed herself in prison.
I genuinely believe this will be the last Smile sequel, at least in that particular universe. I can’t imagine the horrific and tragic chaos the universe of these two movies will have to endure. A freaking cesspool of the Smile curse spread all over the world. That shit is DISTURBING.
@@matthewk4912But if the entity now has more than one host at once to focus on, that actually ups the odds of it being defeated cause with everyone going through the same thing, people will believe each other, address it and will outnumber this entity and eliminate it for good
@@djccombat5530 But we don't know if it can be defeated other than it running out of hosts. And some people will be so terrified that they don't overcome it even if others try to help them.
@@matthewk4912 True but I feel like this entity gains strength when it isolates its victim. Now that it’s got a whole crowd of people at once idk how it will manage to keep its strength. Plus theres not just the crowd of people in the arena theres people watching on TV, theres no way this entity will cause the apocalypse but I could be wrong. I just think with how this movie ended this could lead to the problem solver in a third movie.
I desperately need to know what exactly the entity/curse/demon is. I’d love a prequel film that takes place in Puritan times where we get to see where it came from and what it is and someone FINALLY beating it.
I'll be honest, this movie deserves some awards. Naomi Scott acted her ass off, completely stealing the movie. Not only that, but movie overall is amazing. The jumpscares weren't bad in the slightest, and a few of them came out of nowhere. The cinematography is pretty good, along with the supporting the cast. I'll say this movie is one of the best horror films ever. Even after all of the hype dives down, I think the movie rating will improve greatly. 9/10. I had a few gripes with this movie, like the last 20 mins feeling a bit excessive.
I think that her friend was a hallucination the whole time. Never came to her apartment. Losing her friend through being shitty to her was trauma that the entity could prey on. Yet, the movie has Gemma call Sky in what very well may be a hallucination so she probably never reaches back out in the real world. Just mind games really.
I think the phone call from Gemma was fake, too. The curse just wanted Skye to know that Gemma never came to her apartment, causing her to lose her mind more.
That will make sense to cause that’s why the entity said “Gemma hates you” cause she never got back to her at all and that was the entity way of messing with her once again considering Gemma called right when the entity was driving the car
The sad and f*** up thing about the start is that the ex of rose managed to transfer the curse to someone else just for him then get run over by a car.
@@cadenc_21first movie explained that to free yourself of the curse, you have to kill someone else and have a witness. The demon will now latch onto the witness instead. So Joel at the beginning of the movie tried to transfer it to the scumbag drug dealer by killing the drug dealer's brother infront of him. But because Joel ended up killing both brothers, and Lewis witnessed it, the demon latched onto Lewis instead
As soon as Sky "killed" her mother, I felt that something was off. The PTSD demon Smiley cannot kill anybody else or make his victim kill anybody. Plus the rule from the first movie was that if his victim does indeed kill anybody out of their own free will, the demon will leave them. But I thought that this here was just a continuity error ( I rewatched the first movie before this ). The question is when did the last hallucination start exactly? By the way, it's kinda dumb to let the current victim on the plan to kill the demon. After all the demon is in the victim's head and knows everything they hear. Therefore it can make a counterplan. That old dude should have just secretly murder her. As bad as it sounds, it would have been the only way to destroy the demon.
While I think he wanted to be humane and save her, I can assure you that once the government finds out about the smile demon, the same entity thrives in ISOLATION, they'll find a way to get rid of it.
@@ambusched94 Depending on the fact if the dead cat wasn't also a hallucination ( and it actually ran away, cuz the owner behaved aggressive towards it during her delirium - screaming and flailing her limbs around - and didn't fed it therefore ). Smile 2 was a lot better then the first one. I watched the first Movie but ai think this is one of the movies that is better when you dont watch the first one

Am I the only one who finds it funny that Joel succeeded in passing the demons curse to someone else and then coincidentally getting killed right after because of his terrible peripheral vision? 😂
Okay I have a question then!! Because Joel didn’t actually kill himself, he got hit by a car AND Lewis didn’t see it happen because he was in the house still. So how was it transferred to him? If anything it would’ve been transferred to one of the drug dealers shooting at him.
Lewis witnessed the traumatic event of the two drug dealers being killed so the transfer happened at that point I guess. I also thought it should’ve transferred to one of the drug dealers chasing him tho
@@ChepDotComhis plan was to kill one of the drug dealers in front of the other passing on the curse, however what Joel didn’t consider is that the drug dealer watching his brother get stabbed pulled out a gun and shot at Joel, causing Joel to instinctively shoot back at him and fatally shooting him, so no witness to pass the curse onto, until Joel realized Lewis was watching the whole time and said sorry that wasn’t the plan but it still worked, until he got hit by a car running from the drug dealers friends
I fully believe that the doctor that was trying to help sky was the entity! The entity use the doctor as another form of torture just to make her believe that there was a way out when in reality she’d already lost her mind in her apartment when her “friend” came for the sleep over. There is no way that someone in publicity would have let her step on stage in her condition and I believe the entity knew this! It even let her know that it enjoyed being her the entire time up until the point of the final event!
There was mention on first movie, the creature cant copy a look of person she never seen, it copies people she saw and knew. The first doctor was real second was fake. The monster took her over in her apartament where 50 smily people went into her throat and used her after she woke up in hospital where mother sat.
No, morris was definitely real. Why would the demon throw in real facts about itself and its past. It’s AFTER denying help from Morris that she never actually sees him again. He said this was her last chance and it was.
@@thomasraines1396 which still works in the end. But in the bar that’s a real person. Explaining the demon and how it works and his brother that died to it. Just watched last night and I left the theater initially speechless. My initial thoughts were: 1. WTF did I just watch 2. What a way to raise the bar Solid film! Great review.
One thing I noticed about the movie was at the meet and greet, everyone acknowledged the creepy stalker guy and the little girls presence. Since the smile entity is something only she can see, it leads me to believe that even the meet and greet early on was fake. It makes it really difficult to tell how much of what we saw was the actual timeline, or if any of it was even real at all.
The demon can make you see real people in different ways. a good example is in the first movie when the doctor calls out that the mental patient is 5150ing and they all run in to restrain him but it cuts to reality and he’s asleep in bed
No, the people were real, they just weren't actually Smiling. Poor little girl was probably gushing about her favorite singer, but all she got back was Skye looking at her like she was strange.
Yeah my wife thought it was about the fact that any random person could be cursed no matter their status but it seemed obvious that the writers and entity had larger ambitions which made it more enjoyable imo
I knew the ending but the twist of how it gets there I didn’t guess. I thought it was going to be she died and thought she got rid of it then later it really isn’t gone and you get the same ending. Just thought they show someway to weaken it for a sequel. Instead it’s stronger than ever with multiple victims to pray on hahah
I saw this movie yesterday, and when we look at the first movie and the second movie, combine them together, I think they are complete each other. and also I have opinion about Skye and her mother. they both kinda took a little bit inspiration from Rose and her mother (that their relationship isn't kinda honest, healthy)
@@jeagerjeager9171 if you say that then you missed the point of the movie and what it is about. You should think about it deeper and process the real story of the movie and what it is about
I like to Imagine the Smiler sent Skye to a nightmare and just played the role of a glamorous pop star until it was time for the ending. While she was having her worst days, it was just being a cutey pie diva.
SPOILER ! So really then the movie ends after her first tour performance? (Blue leotard dress) Everything we watched after the mirror scene in the changing room was all in her mind and the entity playing tricks and haunting her… Because her mom and assistant were both alive cheering her on in the crowd ?? Is this the case??
Could have been nothing was real only from the attack in the apartment by her backup dancers. It's possible before that it was just messing with her but she was still partially in control.
Either that, or the scene with the people chasing her in her apartment. At that point it could've just acted as her while messing with her mind and made her change her mind on the dress I guess because of her mothers pressure on everything
Idk, I think Gemma never was with her. There isn't really an 11:08 interaction between Gemma and her mom, Gemma just says "hi Elizabeth" as Skye is walking out of the room. That's not really an interaction. Her mother may not have seen her at all
Yeah that was revealed when the friend calls and says that she got the voicemail and messed up texts. Think the last night of "sane" Skye was the scene with the multiple smiling people going after her
@@ironikz4006 Pretty sure Skye was trapped inside her mind from the time of the multiple attackers until her waking up on stage. So none of that was real. The demon had control of her body but didn't want to kill her until she had a massive audience.
I do love the It Follows parallel there... Since they dropped Morris out of nowhere, maybe they'll show the creature hunting survivors and witnessess that might know how to get a rid of it
The beauty of the way these are done is how the entire movie you root for the main character yet in the end the demon wins and yet the movie still feels balanced. I didn’t feel put off at all at the end of either movie because the protagonist didn’t win as you’d expect from most horror movies. The evolution of the demon was a nice touch with it realizing that with the host that it had, it could reach a lot more people.
I think its fine the protagonist didnt win but there was literally no hope at all thru this entire movie, we were just really waiting for them to die lol it's like how in a movie where the protagonist wins there still needs to be a sense of urgency or doubt, this is like where we shouldve got some more hope that the protagonist would survive but there wasnt any of that they were completely fucked this entire time. Good movie though.
This movie was good, but it violated the unwritten rule.... never present the events you just watched as a dream sequence. It undermines the whole thing.
The way Id taken it was that Gemma had been fake the whole time as had everything beyond the point of the butterfly dress. In this logic, the curse truly manages to only exist in Skye for 12 hours
That actually makes sense. The reason Joel (the guy at the beginning and the new host at the end of the first movie) was still in control even after 6 days was because he was a lot more mentally sound than Skye. What a champ he was...
I think it was doing lots of craziness up until she was attacked in her apartment but it wasn't fully in control. I think from the apartment onwards the demon was completely in control of her.
Gemma was never real. When she hello to the mom, the mom never acknowledge Gemma’s presence. This is why Gemma couldn’t make the tour, because no one else would see her
Now that I think about it it was kinda rude that the mother didn’t say hi back after saying hi Katherine or whatever her name was instead of “hi Sky’s mom” Nice catch
@@ChepDotCom yea morris was nowhere to be seen at the end of the film So he easily could’ve been made up by the demon to give her false hope and be a massive troll to her

man I wish Riley didn't die. she really want to stop this demon. I didn't find anything new with this film except the ending where the demon goes global. I wish we got a proper backstory as to how it started. Naomi was amazing in the role even better than the previous actress.
Gemma said hi to the mom but the mom said nothing back. It was a sixth sense tactic. Gemma was never there. Everything after she got attacked by all the dancers was pretty much entirely in her head. She proceeded to go to the concert and only then did the demon let her see reality when it was too late to do anything about it. That's how I saw it anyways.
I thought everything after the scene where she complained about not wanting to wear the outfit that showed her scar was apart of the hallucination, as she’s wearing it at the end.
I thought everything after the scene where she complained about not wanting to wear the outfit that showed her scar was apart of the hallucination, as she’s wearing it at the end.
I get that explaining origins of beings and demons sometimes ruins its appeal, but i really want a prequel movie explaining exactly where the smile entity came from. Has it always existed? Did somebody manage to defeat it years ago and it was accidentally brought back? I just want to see what the director comes up with when it comes to its origins.
I think it made her do it on stage so the brother can’t figure out who got it and her mom was in the crowd so it couldn’t have been real and her mom didn’t acknowledge Gemma when she saw her even after saying she should reconnect
I remember having the first one, I won't to see that one honestly bc I was bored I decided why not and omg. This movie is honestly one of the greatest I ever seen
The ending proved that it was all in her head/ Fake, in her dressing room before she asked to change clothes she said I’m not going on stage in front of a lot of people wearing something that shows my scar. So from that point on is when it was all in her head to get her to believe it was real so that way when it’s time the entity can strike at the perfect moment
I don't think it happens that early. I think it's the multiple attackers in her house that finally gets her. She never actually talked her team out of the outfit, and if Smiley takes control and plays along until she's onstage, it could have simply chosen the outfit.
Hear me out, I do not like movies that have omnipotent concepts. I can understand the fact that Skye was deeply mentally troubled and that maybe made Smiler stronger and maybe even quicker on the kill timer but... it also makes the plot completely useless. I dont see many people talking about this, but if a movie is 70% "it was all the entity messing with her mind" then it failed. Its meaningless plot. In the first you knew smiler could fuck with you but there were limits. Now he can do whatever he wants, even creating a whole hope plotline depending on the way you look at things . The first one was way more grounded, also the jumpscares and the plot were less predictable. Smile 1 will age like wine, this one... I dunno, its ok I guess.
I feel there’s so much potential for the 3rd movie. Now that the parasite/ smile demon has spread to over thousands, it can explore what it would be like to have a CHILD having this parasite percifically he one that we saw get her poster signed at the meet and greet scene. If the host were to be a child, it could explore the fact that the parents/ guardians would think the child has and hyper imagination or just a lil imaginary friend. It’s more likely they would reach out for help, and even MORE likely the demon just get brushed off. It a cool concept I would LOVE to see them explore in smile 3
I don’t think that’s how the demon works. If that were true then why go through 8 people before going global? Morris says he has tracked multiple people being infected before the demon tries to infect more than one person. Assuming that conversation was real, then the entity had plenty of time to infect millions of people and didn’t. I mean even a non-celebrity can infect hundreds of people at a public place like a rally or airport. I think only 1 person at a time can get infected, he did the concert to throw Morris off his tracks by making it extremely difficult to track and kill the next host. Otherwise, why now and not the first victim? Why not go straight to a crowded place and infect people there? Why one at a time? Hopefully they explain this in Smile 3.
This movie felt so personal for me. I was ran over by a car and broke my leg exactly like it showed in the movie… i still have that scar on my leg and i hate when everyone can see my scar.
Yeah i agree, the second one got more detailed. Scarier. But the ending is just hopeful. I thought she defeated it. Until the last scene, more viewers seen her killed herself.😮
the sound in this movie and long legs has been getting me with chills. like the parts of when the old skye cry’s those r the most eerie parts of the movies
im not big on scary or horror movies but I heard the positive talk about this. Watched the og last week, thought it was fine but lost me a little at the end. Watched 2 and wow I was blown away, improved on the first in just about every way and Naomi’s performance was amazing
I don’t think your breakdown is correct. The real events happened at the end when she is on stage, that’s why she mother is still there. The scene in the hospital never happened.
I still don’t understand, she was in the wellness center, at this point the demon made her think she killed her mother, she ran away with what was revealed to her as her fake friend into Morris’s place to kill herself temporarily. During all this time she was obviously under strong hallucinations, her mother and management were around her. How the hell did they were able to prep her up for a show? She wasn’t with them mentally! She was on the run after killing her mom in her mind! This just doesn’t make sense that in the mean time she was getting ready to go on a big show. Can anyone explain??
From my standpoint, im pretty sure what we saw happening that was an "illusion" was very much real, just replaced by the entity, I saw the comment on why Sky mentioned the thing about "Pizza Hut" being the place was because she was just hungry, and im sure her driving, during that time was her driving in her day-to-day life, not actually going through the whole process of what Morris said. In my opinion the start of everything being an "illusion" and not real, was when she left Morris, It was either the decision of the phone ringing, her other choice or her last chance Morris, who unfortunately was unsuccessful in saving her. The start, most people are guessing was when the many dancers knocked her unconcious, which could very well explain that everything was happening inside her head, because that was when it made her believe she did something to her mother, when in reality she did not.
What a great movie. I'm so happy we get such a wonderful, new horror franchise. Really high quality, with really high intensity and scares. Shout outs to Naomi Scott and Parker Finn. They both leveled up in this film.
Would be funny if the main character already has schizophrenia and is used to hallucinations and the smile entity gets really pissed it cant affect them.
@o-mangaming5042 or it latches onto someone with alzheimers and they're already a mental vegetable and the enity can't do anything and they're trapped with them.
@@TicTacPilgrim Nah, I'd say Smiley would have to go more grounded with its hallucinations rather than amping the unreal factor. But make it feel like other human beings are being more hostile than normal, and tack the hallucinations onto people who are really there. Like you're talking to a family member, for real, and then they suddenly start attacking you and getting in your face.
Scariest part for me was in this video where I kept waiting for a goddamn Better Help sponsored ad to pop up. Thank you for not taking the easy layup Paul.
I very much agree with you. Saw the movie last night. Have not seen the first one, but this was really quite an extraordinary movie - and the central performance was just extraordinarily good. It scared the crap out of me, was extremely difficult to watch at times, but generally was just clever, interesting, incredibly well produced, witty, occasionally very funny, and genuinely disturbing. Very very stressful. Very very good.
I swear at times the actress who played skye look different. Some times she looks like Bianca Censori. Other times she looks like Florence Pugh and sometimes Abella Danger 💀💀
The only thing I’m not the biggest fan of is I have very little idea as to what was actually real, if really any of it. A little more grounding would’ve been the only thing I asked for, but the scares were so great. A fantastic step up and proper progression from the previous movie
I think EVERYTHING was fake all the way to before the wardrobe issue… cause at the end she’s wearing the exact outfit she said she would never wear. None of it happened. She was basically dreaming the whole decent into madness and then thrown back into reality to keep the demon spreading. It’s very possible because the end of the first movie had the main character live out at least a day and a half of activities that never occurred but felt extremely real to the host
I understood it as if Morris was just a concept by the demon that is completely built in her head to create something like hope just to eventually shatter it in pieces.
@@leonwhe253 thats the most accurate theory I’ve heard. I didn’t know if he was real at first and then later used by the demon to lure her and mess with her head even more
A lot of comments saying in the next film they hope they beat it some of the best horror series is where the entity/villain is not defeated it’s good to leave things to our own imagination, cannot wait for the third film was beyond surprised how good this films was, what a year for horror after longlegs and oddity.
longlegs blows this movie out of the water - you actually get an understanding of the unknowns at the end while still having some small questions that you can conclude yourself… this movie has so many unknowns and questions about the plot… very scary & suspenseful, but poorly written in my opinion… I absolutely loved it until the last 10 minutes
I do have a question about the demon. Could it be like Pennywise were if your not scared of it, or don’t fear it the demon will get way weaker? Or will it just kill you no matter what.
I think it shows in both how they tried to conquer it but it was already too deep in their minds that it was basically too late. They “defeated” it but the reality warping and mental toll was already too much
I think it was literally making up situations in their mind to cause more trauma like the mother murder. Literally messes with them until its perfect timing to end them
Remember joel? He survived for 6days.. He was mentally strong but unlucky 😭.. Skye on the other hand died after 12hrs, she was really messed up... That's why is end so fast
I disagree. I don’t believe she killed her mom. Her mom was at the concert, and if she had killed her, she would be in jail by now. I think the entity controlled her after the attack by the smiling people at her apartment, where one puts their hands in her mouth. The entity took over her body until the day of the concert, pretending to be her. This lasted for a day or a couple of days, and during that time, we experienced what Sky saw, so she wouldn’t have realized that her body was being taken over.
I really really was hoping. They were gonna defeat the bastard. I really was wishing that part in the pizza hit was real. I forgot the guys name he seemed like a good dude and I think there exchange was real. How would she know that dying would stop it

@@suspiciousactivity4266 Yeah but i think there is a timeline like by forth or fifth day it completely takes control also i think mental health plays a big part like the weaker your mental health is the more control it has on you
@@M24071that's definitely true. Joel constantly deals with high stress and doesn't have past stress. The entity couldn't control them as easily.

In part one the main character was told to go home and get rest n stop over working herself and she decided to take on one more client which was the possessed client
And in this one she was told to go get rest cause she had an early schedule in the morning…. But she left her hotel to get the drugs for her back when she then comes into contact with the possessed drug dealer

To be fair the entity responded for the drug dealer which inevitably made her go, if it didn’t provoke her into coming.

So rose did tell Joel what the black prisoner told her about getting rid of the demon. Man that beginning with Joel was fucked up. He was a good guy man. I didn’t wanna see him go out.
Still, at least he went out fighting and "mostly" on his own terms. He didn't even see death coming, and that's a blessing considering he was cursed.
I kinda wish that the movie had been able Joel and him dealing with the curse as well as the aftermath of the first movie

@@lerbear15same thing I was thinking, I thought one of the dealers was the one texting her.
@@dancingangel95 I’m also confused on what his plan was going to be, was he going to shot him and make other guy watch?
Lewis witnesses the two deaths.
I thought everything after the scene where she refused to wear the dress that showed her scar, that was all apart of the hallucination.
@@desykee3088 to give her false hope only to take it away at the last second, it’s sadistic.

Once she left the bar it stopped being real. She went home and the dancers shoved their hand down her throat. It’s fairly obvious that Morris was a real person though.
Just watched last night and I left the theater initially speechless. My initial thoughts were:
1. WTF did I just watch
2. What a way to raise the bar
Solid film!
I didn’t even think of this
How I saw it, was that everything after the scene where Skye refused to wear the outfit that showed her scar, was all fake.
Literally called how this was going to end the moment it was announced 😂
Would’ve been a waste to not have the pop star kill herself in front of a crowd of people
Same lol, pretty predictable ending imo
I feel like rose did better against the demon than skye
@@jeagerjeager9171 if you say that then you missed the point of the movie and what it is about. You should think about it deeper and process the real story of the movie and what it is about
I couldn't finish my food because of the first scene. ): And from then on, I was on and off with tension headache. Movie was terrifying.
I like to Imagine the Smiler sent Skye to a nightmare and just played the role of a glamorous pop star until it was time for the ending.
While she was having her worst days, it was just being a cutey pie diva.
Probably that’s what happened. Like if she tried what she did in a dinner or etc, it would’ve put her into some Medical place
SPOILER !
So really then the movie ends after her first tour performance? (Blue leotard dress)
Everything we watched after the mirror scene in the changing room was all in her mind and the entity playing tricks and haunting her…
Because her mom and assistant were both alive cheering her on in the crowd ??
Naomi Scott deserves an Oscar nomination for Smile 2!
Just saw smile 2 in theaters it was so good and terrifying 10/10
This movie was good, but it violated the unwritten rule.... never present the events you just watched as a dream sequence. It undermines the whole thing.
Not really.
This is why Gemma couldn’t make the tour, because no one else would see her
Now that I think about it it was kinda rude that the mother didn’t say hi back after saying hi Katherine or whatever her name was instead of “hi Sky’s mom”
Nice catch
Wonder if Morris was also fake
@@ChepDotCom yea morris was nowhere to be seen at the end of the film
So he easily could’ve been made up by the demon to give her false hope and be a massive troll to her

man I wish Riley didn't die. she really want to stop this demon. I didn't find anything new with this film except the ending where the demon goes global. I wish we got a proper backstory as to how it started. Naomi was amazing in the role even better than the previous actress.
Such a good horror movie and that’s rare. Plenty of scares and good story telling and confusing in the right where. The trauma never truly left you
Gemma said hi to the mom but the mom said nothing back. It was a sixth sense tactic. Gemma was never there. Everything after she got attacked by all the dancers was pretty much entirely in her head. She proceeded to go to the concert and only then did the demon let her see reality when it was too late to do anything about it. That's how I saw it anyways.
I as many others agree with your theory
I loved the smile 2 ! Thank you for the explaination I just finished edging
Smile 2 felt like a completely different movie than the first. I actually liked it more than the first.
This movie felt so personal for me.
I was ran over by a car and broke my leg exactly like it showed in the movie… i still have that scar on my leg and i hate when everyone can see my scar.
wow that is a really difficult story, thanks for sharing im glad you’re alive to tell it you’re strong
Scars are badass, and so are you! ❤
Yeah i agree, the second one got more detailed. Scarier. But the ending is just hopeful. I thought she defeated it. Until the last scene, more viewers seen her killed herself.😮
"Lets put a smile back on that face!"
the sound in this movie and long legs has been getting me with chills. like the parts of when the old skye cry’s those r the most eerie parts of the movies
im not big on scary or horror movies but I heard the positive talk about this.
What i found crazy is the trauma demon had complete control over her very early in the movie she was hallucinating everything around her from day 3
What a great movie. I'm so happy we get such a wonderful, new horror franchise. Really high quality, with really high intensity and scares. Shout outs to Naomi Scott and Parker Finn. They both leveled up in this film.
Thank you for sharing your story on mental health!
Would be funny if the main character already has schizophrenia and is used to hallucinations and the smile entity gets really pissed it cant affect them.
There's still ways to use that. Make the hallucinations more violent so the person's convinced they have to kill one.
@o-mangaming5042 or it latches onto someone with alzheimers and they're already a mental vegetable and the enity can't do anything and they're trapped with them.
@o-mangaming5042 "AND THE WALLS ARE OOZING GREEN SLIME! Oh wait they always do that..."
@@TicTacPilgrim Nah, I'd say Smiley would have to go more grounded with its hallucinations rather than amping the unreal factor. But make it feel like other human beings are being more hostile than normal, and tack the hallucinations onto people who are really there.

Same here. I haven't seen the first movie either which itself was spawned from a short film.
Watch the original short film, then the first Smile
the things you said aren’t wrong .. but the holes and questions in the plot made the ending and rest of the movie almost pointless
Genuinely one of the scariest movies I’ve seen! Just the sense of not knowing what’s real, not being able to find any sort of escape, terrifying.
I swear at times the actress who played skye look different. Some times she looks like Bianca Censori. Other times she looks like Florence Pugh and sometimes Abella Danger 💀💀
Naomi Scott Is A Shapeshifter !
The only thing I’m not the biggest fan of is I have very little idea as to what was actually real, if really any of it. A little more grounding would’ve been the only thing I asked for, but the scares were so great. A fantastic step up and proper progression from the previous movie
It would be cool if in the final film, the entity latches on to someone who is ex military. Those guys have some of the strongest mental out there.
Eh, it depends? PTSD does lead some of them to eventually remove themselves from this earth even without a Smile killer.
we kind of got that in the beginning with the ex cop he walked past a vision of somebody on fire like it was just a normal day.
Good movie was trippy Naomi did a great job!
I think EVERYTHING was fake all the way to before the wardrobe issue… cause at the end she’s wearing the exact outfit she said she would never wear. None of it happened. She was basically dreaming the whole decent into madness and then thrown back into reality to keep the demon spreading. It’s very possible because the end of the first movie had the main character live out at least a day and a half of activities that never occurred but felt extremely real to the host
this makes sense, but then why is Morris even part of the movie and “fake” but at the same time trying to stop the entity?
@ because fear is probably amplified when hope is constantly snatched away
I’m still confused about what happened to morris
I understood it as if Morris was just a concept by the demon that is completely built in her head to create something like hope just to eventually shatter it in pieces.
