large companies do this all the time. Register their company in another state for their benefit. It is our obligation to reduce our tax burden by any legal means.
Check trucking companies who register vehicles in Oklahoma and Idaho to defeat certain inspections. Pride, Cr England, smith, etc etc
So Uhaul can register ALL their vehicles in Arizona and nobody bats an eye, but when a normal person uses that same LEGAL loophole it’s a problem? Got it.
Yes because U-Haul or whatever business has a legitimate business and address in that state but the vast majority of Montana tax cheats do not or have even set foot in Montana. Also what's your insurance say? They ask where the vehicle is domiciled so you would think the plate should match the domicile.
@thud9797 what makes it an “legitimate” business? Whats the guidelines? It has to be a real money making business? Amazon didn’t make a profit for 7 YEARS. Were they not a real business before that because they didn’t make a dime? I’m confused. On where it’s not legit.
@@the_bencredible
Well for most Montana tax cheats their LLC's only purpose is for defrauding their actual home state from tax and registration revenue so I would say their LLC is illegitimate.
I'm from MA and I drive 10 mins to my nearest apple store in NH to buy a MacBook Pro and did not pay sales tax on it. Am I cheating lol?
There are 7 best buy locations in portland oregon, and none in vancouver wa, no one buys electronics in WA, when they can drive across the bridge and get them 7% less.
Out-of-state registration?
PERFECTLY AND COMPLETELY LEGAL.
According to Federal law, if it's registered in ANY state, it's legally valid in ALL states.
its not about being registered or not, its about tax evasion
That is an assumption. Innocent until proven guilty. It’s not chp job to work as irs
@@MRkriegsif you believe people should be paying more taxes, perhaps you should be consuming less oxygen
@@somethingappropriate I do not believe that.
You are splitting hairs. It's legal. Utah needs to change It's laws to make it more favorable for everyone. If we had even more favorable laws than Montana we could bring in tax money from other states too.
Boo hoo, I was a student and my car was impounded because I had out of state tags. Change your laws Utah.
How????
KSL would have to find a way to benefit the citizen, not judge and condemn them. Utahns are paying higher and higher taxes, with retirees, youth and parents with young children bearing the brunt. It would be ideal if they looked for solutions.
could have done many things with the 4661.00 in Taxes I paid on my new car.
I could have bought hookers and cocaine by not paying taxes.
The tax you added to your loan and never would have had in the first place? Yeah only thing you would do is blow it and not invest it in anyway. Buying that expensive of a car to garner that much sale tax just proves how terrible you are with money in the first place 🤡
@@whatjake7898 paid cash for the car. what loan
Average vehicle prices have skyrocketed over the past 5+ years. A 75,000 truck has over 5,400 in sales taxes, that is ridiculous. This is not reasonable! Sales taxes need to be lowered on new vehicle sales & no sales taxes on used vehicles. City, county, state & federal governments need to do more with less.
The price of the truck isnt worth mentioning, since theres few if any cheaper options. I was about to buy a used ford bronco in colorado, its 48,000. 5400 in sales taxes and 3400 in registration fees. $8800 total in taxes for a small suv... thats insane
Tax laws have to be changed so that the people that can afford it the least are given a break. Veterans and
Retirees and young families are being taxed into oblivion on rising home prices and property taxes and sales tax. Government at every level is way too over burdening.
There is great precedence for taxes in Utah set by the 10% salvation tax...
The rich eludes paying taxes, just ask Donald trump and his family, John Gotti never paid taxes and he made millions per year.
Looks like I won't be moving to Utah.
Please do not.
Guess he will never have a nickname like Jonny Tight Lips. Fool just snitched on himself.
The easiest way to enforce this is to look at neighborhoods where lots of out-of-state vehicles are located. If it can be shown that such a vehicle was there for more than 60 days then an enforcement action can be taken.
I have been doing it all my life and never got a problem
Probably depends where you live and if you get pulled over. Ca can get tricky
this went on with Ca and Oregon for years. Eventually it was outlawed.
Hard to know which is the "real" crime bere, them avoiding taxes or paying 125,000 for two vehicles?????😜
if you buy anything in another state and bring that item to a different state thats just how things work not my problem
Just get your driver license in Montana if you can. If your license and plates are the same state you will never be caught
Before re plating your car to another state your license there
Not that easy. MT will notify your CA dmv you’ve been licensed also you have to show a physical address there and so on.
Why do America have to register a car in the 1st place ? Buying a car whirh tax is enough.
If people cheat...then they have to charge those that don't.
Hmmmm......regarding the "registration rules" aspect though, if the vehicle is registered to a company in Montana or any other state, how is the "driver" of that company vehicle responsible for the registration, as long as it is current/valid? The vehicle is not registered to the "driver".
So, some people think the rules only apply to other people
Lol just because you like to feed the state. Screw the state 😂
@@kelbygale7494 So, the rules don’t apply to you. You just want everyone else to pay but you don’t want to. Disgusting. That’s what they call a freeloader.
@@kelbygale7494small brain comment. I know you do not realize you have a small brain on account of you having a small brain….but yeah dude…small brain.
@@whatjake7898 They get their fair share of taxes as it is. Therefore I’m all for tax payers finding loopholes to save money legally or even semi legally on taxes or taxable purchases.
We got our Karen that will report any out of state plates. Maybe you can donate more of your money to pay my taxes on things that shouldn’t be taxed at all !?
Gov always want our money
I'll gladly register my car in Utah verses my current state in Washington State.
Love how they didn’t blur the plates of a guy openly admitting to breaking the law
Yeah no kidding
I did this for a while when I moved here from Montana. Due to the residency rule, I registered in Utah.
Not just a Utah thing. Montana folk would register their vehicles in Oregon.
Property tax on vehicles? Ha! Look at Missouri. Missouri does this, and people drive around without tags, expired tags, temporary (paper) tags, always expired. No insurance... I have never seen seen so many license plate violations until I spent time in Missouri.
Missouri Highway Patrol is a joke! Missouri doesn't pay their state police enough... and yes, I support LE, but LE in Missouri is trash.
Anyone at the governor's office in Missouri look to Idaho and Oaklohoma. Their state police are well funded and don't mess about.
This guy snitched out his whole scene
Been happening for years, others states/ expensive cars even the Canadians partake in this!
Yep they skipped the other scam part of this, some states register vehicles according to their value, some have flat fees
Lol he wants a personal property tax.
and Utah is a Republican state
That’s what’s scares me. I’m in CA
My company paid my vehicle tax and registration fees when I moved to UT in 2013, so I didn't care at the time. But for getting new cars here...great idea.
Why wouldn’t you care since you had to pay income tax on the money your company spent on your behalf? That’s imputed income. Or were you just happy that it didn’t come directly out of your pocket in cash or added to your loan?
@@AFTER_MIDNITE it was grossed up gor taxes
@@AP-ph7hf
Okay. Btw, I didn’t think my comment through. Unless the imputed income put you in a higher tax bracket, it’s cheaper to pay income tax on it rather than paying the sales tax yourself.
Money be the illusion. If 1 ask ill tell the truth. Whoever comments asking will receive answer?
2:27 ok then what about uhaul then you should be applying it to them oh wait you cant
