    Today we install and review the Steadyrack vertical bike storage racks. The Steadyrack bike storage racks store your road, mountain and hybrid bikes vertically on the wall and swivel to save more floor space. How did they handle everything from a kid's 20" mountain bike to my 50 pound, 2.8 tire Trek Rail? Watch the review video to find out.

    We have 4 bikes in our family and limited space to store them. I discovered Steady racks over 3 years ago and purchased 4. Our family absolutely loves these racks. It is easy for everyone to remove and install their bike, and the ability to swing the bikes makes getting extra room to maneuver simple. Hands down the best home storage solution I have ever found and I would highly recommend them!

    Great review mate and thanks. We have been tearing our hair out about storing our 5 bikes and looks like these will be the go. Need easy access for our 10yo daughter and 12yo son, so this looks like a great design for us. Cheers from Sydney - Dave

    Awesome review! I just bought the MTB one and am about to install it now but wanted to see some videos on RUclips before I did it. I've got a Trek Fuel EX 29er on a large frame so this really helped me visualize what it will look like. Thanks!

    I bought theee steady racks one for my road bike one for my mountain bike and one for my fat tire bike. I keep my bikes down my basement in a pretty small room so they were hard to maneuver around without banging into each other but with the steady rack they are well organized and I can just swing two of the bikes out of the way and pull the bike that I want off of the wall. I love these racks.

    • @Bike198

      They do make things a lot more organized and take up less of a footprint.

    This is great because I have an e-bike and it doesn't have a straight horizontal frame to easy put it on, unless i just go for pegs or hooks. Plus the bike with the battery is not exactly light, so this seems to be a great solution. Thanks for the review!

    We really enjoy our Stradyrack. With limited storage options and space eating mountain bikes, this was the best option out there.

    I am mounting the bike racks on a concrete wall. In a 6 ft wide space. Two bikes, Trek +3L and a Trek +2 S frame. I m trying to figure out the best difference between the racks. The folding feature is important to reduce space and get them out of the way. The area is a lanai and decreasing there footprint is the goal. Thanks for putting up this video.

    I wonder how these would work on the wall of my box trailer.
    Im looking to do vertical storage. But in a mobile application. Trying to avoid damaging the bikes from the inevitable bumps in the road & vibrations.
    These are definitely a space saver.

    Good review. Saved my comments until the end as I was going to ask about cheaper hook-type solutions.
    Do you still find the bottom "rear tire stay" to be useful? You seemed to prefer the storage option of pushing the bikes against the wall. At that point, the rear tire isn't sitting in the cups, but more leaning against the outside. Any thoughts on that?
    Thanks for the review. This is exactly what I was looking for the 6-7 bikes my family has.

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  3 года назад

      Thanks! The rear tire ends up resting on the outside of the tire stop at the bottom when they are folded in as well. The bike would want to move more without it and it doesn't touch the wall that way as well. My wife and son really struggled with the hooks because you have to lift the bikes out of them sideways. They also marked up the wall constantly.

    Would a 2.35” tyre fit well in the classic rack? The official website shows that the classical rack can fit up to 2.1” tyre only but you mentions it fits up to 2.4” tyre.
    Thanks you.

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  2 года назад +1

      Yes it would. The thinnest tire we own is a 2.35 and it has plenty of room on that rack.

    We're looking at getting the MTB steady rack for our family of four. Technically some of our bikes could fit the standard rack - and at the moment they are the same price at our bike store. They seem to have a v to hold the tyre in two places in the rack. Have you hung your son's 20inch bike in the MTB rack and were there any problems with doing so?

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  Год назад

      No issues there on my son's bike. Worked out great and then he went up to 26" and we just moved the rack up some.

  • @jmcg2313

    When swiveled over to the side, does the bike stay still and feel steady in that position? I had a Delta hinge wall mount that swiveled to the side like this and found the bike did not want to stay against the wall and would swing outward very easily, which defeated the purpose for me. Thanks.

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  2 года назад

      They do stay still. You just have to make sure that the racks are not crooked when you mount them.

  • @lidarman2
    @lidarman2 2 года назад

    They should have made that rear tire piece with a larger flange so there is no chance the tire will mark the wall when it is angled.

  • @iankilroy2074
    @iankilroy2074 2 года назад

    As your son grows and the bikes get bigger, do you hope to just keep re-installing at a higher point. Also, if you get the larger rack but only have a smaller tyre, will the bike sit into it ok? We only have road bikes now, but might get mountain bikes in the future.

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  2 года назад

      yes that is what I will do. It will be pretty easy to just patch up any holes that show as I move it up. Yes they will stay centered. The road bikes are a lot lighter too so they don’t pull on the racks as much. You are good to go.

  • @honestnewsnet

    Mine seems to fit to snug and pulls out pretty hard. Is yours hard to pull out. I noticed how much your son was pulling to get his bike out. Thanks

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  Год назад

      I typically put my knee under the seat and push up a little bit to get them out. Depending on the weight of the bike and the width of your tires...sometimes a little extra lift really helps.

    How far out from the wall do your handlebars go?

    • @Bike198
      @Bike198  2 года назад

      It will depend on the bike. Add an inch or two to the width. The bars basically got straight to the wall when you swing it over. If it is sticking straight out...inch or two from overall height of the bars from the floor.

  • @789295
    @789295 Год назад

    I just wish the holder for the rear tire would pivot as well. I get marks on the wall because the back tire comes out of the V when you rotate the bike for storage. Ought to be easy to design. It's an oversight in my opinion. I like the rack, but I wouldn't buy another that puts marks on the wall. Maybe a version 2.0 will address that!
