yea me too. Though one of the issues i have with skeletonized watches is when they're not well done, e.g too much exposure of the insides making it very hard to read the numbers and the hands against the moving metallic background (skeletonization needs to be balanced with good design for the face so it continues to be readable). OR, worst of all when the insidey bits aren't well made or polished so it looks super cheap bits of metal. (not doing super polishing and stuff on your insidey bits is more than ok esp for lower priced watches, but if you're exposing it, you need to be aware of that).

I think Fossil watches are fine, generally. I think most watch reviewers undervalue the looks of watches at the entry level price points, they knock [brand] for having a "cheap" divers watch and present other brands as alternatives that usually either don't match the style or don't match the price point of the watches they're criticizing. At the end of the day, people who don't have the money to put into a $3000 watch collection usually want something that looks and feels nice and maybe is safe to walk out in the rain with for around $100. The biggest legitimate fault I find in these entry level watches is when they fake features that more expensive watches have, like having a Chronograph with no second markers (or in some really bad cases, chronograph dials and buttons that don't actually move at all) or when they have diver's watch bezels that are fixed and don't actually move. But unless you're looking for a high quality automatic watch, then why would you care that your Fossil has a quartz movement or a non-bulletproof water resistance rating?
Thanks for stepping outside your box and reviewing Fossil watches. I have noticed a lot of videos from various people on RUclips often talk about really expensive watches like Rolex (which I will never own as I just cannot see paying more than $1,000.00 for a watch and they are way over that). Or if they talk about affordable watches it is always the same brands like Timex, Seiko, Casio, Orient, etc. which is kind of frustrating because there are so many affordable watch brands out there nowadays but only the same handful of cheap heritage brands get mentioned. I do have a Fossil automatic and really love it. It is partially skeleton but not completely open and not one of the bigger ones. I actually enjoy it more than my Seiko 5 which is similar to the one you showed but in green. I am a bigger guy so the 37mm Seiko is just too small, I don't like the canvas band (I know I could change it), I don't like the small crown, and the Seiko 5 seems to have a shorter power reserve than my Fossil automatic (I have not done a scientific comparison and neither have much of a power reserve to be honest which I have no problem with because of the low price point). The Fossil automatic also had a band I was not thrilled with but I changed it out with a cool two-tone blue/gray band. Fossil bands (unlike Seiko) are quick release with a lever so you don't need any equipment to easily change out a band. I grew up on Fossil often going to their mall stores back when people went to malls and have always loved them and bought them for many years. They have tons of styles and way more variety than other more expensive fashion brands. Nowadays I always buy Fossil directly from their website. They have a decent warranty, come in a nice collectible tin (which you can sell separately if you want, and I have as some people collect the tins). The main reason I like Fossil and you touched upon it is that the pricing is very good, they do not gouge you on price and on the website they often have sales. So my automatic cost under $110 (originally priced $195) and the really surprisingly nice looking chronograph I recently bought on sale was just $59 (originally priced $125). So if I can get a nice Fossil watch for $59 that looks and feels nicer than a fashion watch that costs hundreds more I am very happy. Since they are a well known brand they are easy to sell too.
The problem with videos that disrespect certain brands, like Fossil, is that they trigger my contrarian urges. I bought a Fossil chronograph for $40 at a pawn shop. It was apparently somebody's beater watch because it needed a new bracelet and some cleaning up. I did the cosmetic restoration and discovered a very nice watch. The thing is super accurate and is fun to wear when I'm dressed casually. It is now my beater watch, and I like it.

Hi Jory. I recently purchased Seiko 5 55th anniversary limited edition. Waiting for it’s delivery in UAE. What do you think? Is it good buy and will hold its value?
You are right about the options you propose. But I know there are many people who prefer fashion watches brands instead of any other brand. "De gustibus non disputandum est"
This is not a matter of taste, but rather of being not informed or misinformed. "Many people" simply do not know the facts and are poisoned by the fashion industry advertising.
I bought a skeletonized fossil watch not too long ago, and I have to admit I'm pretty happy with it especially since it seemed to sit perfectly on my wrist not too big and not too small but just right... and watching the pieces moving is a good time killer at work lol
I really like Fossil Watches. I don't know why they get more love from watch enthusiasts. I know they aren't Seiko or Citizen or Orient, etc... But it doesn't take from the quality of the products. They have a great design. They're very reliable (my dad has 3 of them for 10+ years and I've owned 5+ years with no issues) The price is excellent, (not full retail). I have 3 automatics that I copped at $65-$80 on Marshalls. I think theyre excellent, just don't pay full price for them, they go on sale at secondary sale stores for real cheap like Marshalls or TJ Max.
Hi Mr. Goodman, what do you think of the new microbrand Sternglas Zeitmesser and their Bauhaus Watch, 38mm 20mm lug width, 8mm thickness of case, Sapphire Crystal, Swiss Ronda Quartz or Miyota Automatic movements. At a reasonable price. What is your opinion? Not another MVMT, Daniel Wellington. I am thinking of buying from them.
Can you please do a video what you think the new skx watch will be? You know like the watch that everyone loves and is a overall daily driver that just suffices everything. Price, style, availability. Since it's discontinued and is over 300$ now.
I owned two fossil watches in high school in the 90's. I didn't know too much about watches then( and I'm still learning) except that I liked them. They were fine for what they were. Used to get compliments on them. Helped me keep learning about watches so that's cool. Great show as always!
Sad thin is. I had the bambino and is took a dump in 2 years. I also had the SNK809, and it fell apart in less than a year. Not thrilled. I’ve got an Orient Sum and Moon, and that seems to be holding up Ok.
I'm not much into their normal watches due to the size, however I've been looking at their smartwatches. Primarily the new Gen 4 explorist hr. I know you know a lot about watches, but can you give me any advise on choosing smartwatches? (I have an android)
I had a Fossil watch and I loved it. Right up till it got waterlogged when I was swimming at the beach after that it just became a memory in a time in my youth. About the Invicta watches I can say that I do like them as I am a collector of their watches and they do hold their value well. By the way that was a funny comment about the "two". HA! Good one.
Jory, I just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying how fair you are in your videos. My thoughts on Fossil: + You can do a lot worse than Fossil with regards to value for money. - However, at certain MSRPs, you can do better elsewhere. + Their retail reach is great. + Their leather straps can quite good off the bat and they are better sized for smaller wrists. + Similarly, they tend to design cases pretty well so that a diner plate actually sits decently on the wrist. - Dinner plate men's watches + They are great entry points especially for women as they offer a ton of variety with regards to sizing and styles (why are there 36-38mm women's models and not for men's models?) - They make some questionable design choices at times and these choices tend to be deal breakers for me. The difference between a Fossil and a similarly priced Seiko is how cohesive the design feels. There is almost always something that looks off on a Fossil watch to me and it's probably because of some cost cutting measure.
To be honest for me it comes down to the movement. If you don't like a style sure that's preference. But if a fossil comes with a nh35, or a miyota 8215 then what's so bad about it?
Vostok....I miss mine. Broke it after a year. Not quite as tough as their reputation, but I break everything so maybe. I'm seeing how long an skx lasts now
I kind of listened to you already before I even watched this episode 😁😁😁 Those 3 recommendations of yours are all part of my humble watch collection! #NailedIt 😁😁😁

Hello I’m new here. My question is in the 80 & 90s I had a fossil watch ( I’m looking for that kind of watch I had) that looked like on the face of the watch looked like an upside down diamond. I don’t remember what those watches were call. Can u help me out…….please
As much as I agree with your points. I was gifted a Fossil watch way back in college. That's more than a decade ago. I forgot this watch on my drawer and just found it again. It still works and it kept good time. Only losing a minute since it was in the drawer for how many unknown years. The reference number is FS4495. I remember the damages it had suffered while owning this watch. The numbers in the dial got knocked out because I dropped it. The leather strap has worn away so I got it replaced. The battery has died before so I also got it replaced. The replacement battery is better in everyway because it still kept the watch ticking while it was hidden in my drawer.
I believe it was in the mid 2000s that Fossil came out with a series of automatics from their Signature series that weren't skeletonized. These were 38mm and had Miyota 8000 movements. If you can still find them they are a great value.
Love your channel mate. I watch it for two reasons: 1) you cover brands I don't know enough about and 2) you're not elitist. It's great you enjoy the Orient Bambino as much as an A. Lange & Sohne of any model. Big respect. I also find your delivery very entertaining and I laugh as much as I learn. Keep doing what you're doing dude. All this said, I couldn't leave without one small criticism, not aimed at you specifically (you are the product of your environment after all and it is this: I am English with a degree in English. I also speak Danish, German and some Spanish and Italian. From this education and background I feel qualified to correct you and your countrypeople on how to pronounce the letter 'A' in all of the languages I have learned. And not in one single of those languages is the standalone letter 'A' (as in 'Alan", "Lange", "Pasta" or "Costa" pronounced as "Ah". It is spoken as in the words 'At', 'Bad', 'Rat' and, even "That's Rad, man". While I am ranting, the same applies for the 'O' vowel. In every language I speak, 'O' in the middle of word (e..g. Costa... Rica) it sounds like the 'o' in 'of' and not as in 'coast'. You're not a conformist, I sense. So just say "NO" to fake English vowel sounds!!
Hey Jory, love your videos. Really enjoy your undoctored opinions good and bad. If I could make one suggestions about your videos though, you should take a look into Lavalier mics. I think thats all your missing to help put your channel above the rest. Keep up the good work. Best wishes!
Hi Jory, Please talk in more detail about the watch in question like what are their movements, glass materials, performance(if possible). Please don't misinterpret. I'm a fan. I love how honest you are with your videos. I guess I'm looking for more objectivity so your viewers can decide for themselves if a watch is actually good or not. Then we can have a good discussion after.
bonjour T3, don't know if they're in your radar, but a new swiss coy is thriving to emerge, its called 88 rue du Rhone and looks interesting to me, could you maybe have a look.
I must be old. My Vostok Amphibia is mechanical. Hahaha I actually love that I have to wind it though. May have to find one of these automatics you speak of.
I agree with all the points you made. However I have to give fossil credit for helping me get into watch (was my first automatic watch). They also made a bulkhead design watch recently, cool to see them using that design.
I had/have one of the skeletonized Fossil automatics (I haven't seen it in over a year, it was lost in a house move - so I may still have it somewhere). It was my first mechanical watch. My take on it: I thought it looked pretty nice - I liked the style. I want to say it was well north of $100 and almost $200. Fossil has a nice warranty, I want to say it was 7 years. The bad: I had to use that warranty a lot. I think that one was sent in 3 times for repair. Also, it was very prone to fogging up inside when it was hot and humid after being serviced a few times (probably lost most of its water resistance). I have another Fossil that had to be sent in for warranty when a hand fell off of it. It still looks nice and I just put a new battery in it and was recently wearing it. I just got a Seiko 5 field watch today and I only paid $75 for it new. I'm pretty confident it's going to be a MUCH better watch, and for less than I've paid for some Fossil fashion watches. I've just gotten turned on to nicer watches, and I highly doubt I'll ever buy another Fossil... though they have served me fairly well in the past.
I think they're fashion watches, yes, but they're also, as you said, real with themselves, they have the right price and (personal experience) they're durable and reliable. Fossil has a place in my heart even tho I own many other watches of different brands. I like your attitude, well done.
Nice video. Just trying to learn a bit about watches. To summarize, seems like Fossil is decent value for a nice, but likely too big and overwrought (but less than Invicta) watch. Skagen is a brand I like just for the style.

Hi Jory. I recently purchased Seiko 5 55th anniversary limited edition. Waiting for it’s delivery in UAE. What do you think? Is it good buy and will hold its value?
But...
Do they scratch at a level 8 with deeper grooves at a level 9?
right now i want to buy the fossil 3110. i like the style of this watch. what other watch would you guys recomend?
so are they good? is it cool if i buy one?
You are right about the options you propose.
But I know there are many people who prefer fashion watches brands instead of any other brand.

Tony Hill Indeed, lol

That moment when you don't know latin, but still understand the phrase, 'cause Spanish. *enthused autistic screeching*
This is not a matter of taste, but rather of being not informed or misinformed. "Many people" simply do not know the facts and are poisoned by the fashion industry advertising.
Please make a video about ingersoll. I want to know much about it. Thank you
I bought a skeletonized fossil watch not too long ago, and I have to admit I'm pretty happy with it especially since it seemed to sit perfectly on my wrist not too big and not too small but just right... and watching the pieces moving is a good time killer at work lol
can you please tell me if battery powered watches are ok
That was a while since you uploaded. Glad to see another one XD
I have over a dozen Invictas , all are eight to twelve years old, I love the brand!
I sold my Rolex YEARS AGO!
Is there such a thing as the Fossil Hand-wound BQ2271 NWT? And if so, are they any good? Thanks for the interesting video!
Hello! Can I ask your opinion about festina watches ?
I really like Fossil Watches. I don't know why they get more love from watch enthusiasts. I know they aren't Seiko or Citizen or Orient, etc... But it doesn't take from the quality of the products.
They have a great design.
They're very reliable (my dad has 3 of them for 10+ years and I've owned 5+ years with no issues)
The price is excellent, (not full retail). I have 3 automatics that I copped at $65-$80 on Marshalls.
I think theyre excellent, just don't pay full price for them, they go on sale at secondary sale stores for real cheap like Marshalls or TJ Max.
In what world are skeletonised watches ugly?!😂😂 IMO they're the prettiest compared to other options for autos.

Since it's discontinued and is over 300$ now.
what do you say about Fossil Men's Utility Chronograph Watch FS4656 With Black Dial And Brown Leather Strap
I owned two fossil watches in high school in the 90's. I didn't know too much about watches then( and I'm still learning) except that I liked them. They were fine for what they were. Used to get compliments on them. Helped me keep learning about watches so that's cool. Great show as always!
I'm stuck on casio and g shocks. I want other brands but when I try I see a edifice or a G I like better.. Help
What is the red watch you wearing this video? Thanks
Sad thin is. I had the bambino and is took a dump in 2 years. I also had the SNK809, and it fell apart in less than a year. Not thrilled. I’ve got an Orient Sum and Moon, and that seems to be holding up Ok.
How about on the parnis datejust? Can you have a review on that watch?
Would you do a review on Louis Vuitton watches? I have been thinking about getting their Kona graph piece because it is Lifetime warrantied.
Where can I find the Vostok Amphibia with the dark blue dial ??
I was looking at automatic Tissots in a Dillards, in Tucson. The sales lead tried to sell me a Fossil automatic. The Fossil had tool marks.
I never knew bare fingers could create gouges in metal.
Fred Calabrese : why would he down sell you?
I'm not much into their normal watches due to the size, however I've been looking at their smartwatches. Primarily the new Gen 4 explorist hr. I know you know a lot about watches, but can you give me any advise on choosing smartwatches? (I have an android)
Lmao when you brought up invicta! That company goes abovre and beyond if you know what I mean when it comes to display haha.
not all automatics are skels from fossil. Whatever, though, I
What watch is he wearing in this video?
I had a Fossil watch and I loved it. Right up till it got waterlogged when I was swimming at the beach after that it just became a memory in a time in my youth. About the Invicta watches I can say that I do like them as I am a collector of their watches and they do hold their value well. By the way that was a funny comment about the "two". HA! Good one.
Please make video about Timex watch
Great video, great integrity Jory
+John Helwig Thank you, sir. I appreciate that.
What do you guys think of the fossil JR1401?
Love the Vario strap there in tweed! so cool just checked out there website u gotta get us a discouunt code
Jory, I just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying how fair you are in your videos. My thoughts on Fossil:
+ You can do a lot worse than Fossil with regards to value for money.
- Dinner plate men's watches
+ They are great entry points especially for women as they offer a ton of variety with regards to sizing and styles (why are there 36-38mm women's models and not for men's models?)
- They make some questionable design choices at times and these choices tend to be deal breakers for me.
I agree
What movements does Fossil use?
Wich brand do you like? On Every brand you have complaints
As far as accessorizing an outfit goes, you cant go wrong with a Fossil. If you want a timeless heirloom that’s something else entirely
What s the brown strap you are wearing on your red watch? :)
Vostok....I miss mine. Broke it after a year. Not quite as tough as their reputation, but I break everything so maybe. I'm seeing how long an skx lasts now
I’m curious on your opinion on pulsar being they’re owned by seiko
I kind of listened to you already before I even watched this episode 😁😁😁
Those 3 recommendations of yours are all part of my humble watch collection! #NailedIt 😁😁😁
Watching that video and got 2 watch in my wrist. On my left seiko snzg15j1 with nato, on my right vostok amphibia scuba dude.
Both are under $100. I love Vostok. They are far more tough then seiko considering that price point.
Can you do a video on Casio Edifice
Have you checked out some of their ARKITEKT pieces??
Hello I’m new here. My question is in the 80 & 90s I had a fossil watch ( I’m looking for that kind of watch I had) that looked like on the face of the watch looked like an upside down diamond. I don’t remember what those watches were call. Can u help me out…….please
I bought two, a skeletonized mechanical one and a chronograph and i love them genuinely
What is your opinion on fromanteel watches?
T3, What's your take on citizen eco drive?
Hi Jory,
Please talk in more detail about the watch in question like what are their movements, glass materials, performance(if possible).
Can you do a video on those Liv watches and tufina watches that keep showing up on my feeds?
I totally love and enjoy their minimalistic watches! Beautiful, elegant, minimal, slim designs for 44mm. You judged only the automatic series.
I agree with all the points you made. However I have to give fossil credit for helping me get into watch (was my first automatic watch). They also made a bulkhead design watch recently, cool to see them using that design.
Man! The dress watch on your wrist is so beautiful but the movement.
Please do a review on HMT automatic watches from India...they are dirt cheap ..they start from $65 in India..
What you think about IWC?
I think they're fashion watches, yes, but they're also, as you said, real with themselves, they have the right price and (personal experience) they're durable and reliable. Fossil has a place in my heart even tho I own many other watches of different brands. I like your attitude, well done.
Nice video. Just trying to learn a bit about watches. To summarize, seems like Fossil is decent value for a nice, but likely too big and overwrought (but less than Invicta) watch. Skagen is a brand I like just for the style.
i love Fossil watches.. the Twists and the Skeltons are great.. and like u said, there are other brands makin a different style.. so let them continue to make their style.
I have 5 of the same Fossil watches in 3 different colors and I just LOVE them. 14 years old and still the best looking.
