@@dparag14 What's worse, their collaboration pieces for fashion brands such as Armani, Michael Kors, Diesel, etc. Are also of as bad of a quality. When I had no idea and dropped my Emporio Armani Meccanico automatic, it broke at the first drop in 2017. Tried bringing it in for a repair after one year but apparently a drop is not covered in warranty. Tried getting it repaired where I bought it and they said the watch isn't even worth it fixing even just after one year. That said a lot to me. Many other brand like a Seiko 5 would have survived a drop from a desk and/or would still hold enough value to be worth it to be repaired. Compared to a Citizen eco-drive that my dad bought me in 2008, the Citizen is still running strong on the original battery (even in 2022). Even at a macro level, you can see citizens have better quality from the dial, alignment, and bezel to the quality of the hands altogether. My second Citizen with sapphire crystal even has 0 scratches on the crystal, just the bangs on the bezel. I could even re-zero the second, minute, hour and all function hands myself so that alignment is perfect (quartz watches suffer from backlash resulting in second hand misalignment). You really get what you pay for and he summed it up real well at 8:30, people just subconsciously trying to convince themselves that they got a good deal and that they got a good investment. I was under that impression until that Emporio Armani watch of mine broke.
A Fossil was my first watch almost 6 years ago and I really enjoyed it. It cost $100 and got me introduced to watches, so I have no complaints with the brand.
Same deal here. Mine was literally the one immediately to the left of the one he picked (the blue chrono with blue lugs.) It still gets a fair amount of wrist time from me.
I have a fossil watch since 2005 (blue edition). When people SEE it they Tell me "That's a great watch, it must have cost You an arm and a leg". I take care My watch since then. I worked so hard to get it. People ask me if I sell it, I Say no way!. It remains me all the hard work and sacrifices that I had to do to Buy it. As the quote says "No pain, no gain".
Most of them are way too big for my wrist and too loud for my style, but Fossil knows how to give many people what they want where others fail. Brands like Seiko and Timex give much better quality for price, yet somehow Fossil still survives. I think it's better to learn from their success than to just mock and dismiss.
@@duckduckboots8382 I'm not mocking them, I'm saying that child labour is an actual possibility with these watches and that people should be aware of this.
Thumbs down... not because I dislike your comment, but for the fact that you're probably right. Child exploitation is definitely not a 'thumbs up' situation. I can only pray that you're wrong. 😟
@@StuntpilootStef something tells me @DuckDuckBoots put their comment in the wrong spot. It seems like that was meant to be a comment on the video itself?
I have had this model since 2010 and it's still working. The battery lasts about 2 years and I replaced the battery about 6 times now. I got the watch's lifetime battery replacement for free at the dealer in my area as it was a part of the deal. Can't deny that I love the design but I agree with the flaws especially the questionable case material but durability is a part of the quality game. And it is durable as a watch, the strap not.
I bought a Fossil Titanium with my first few paychecks when a teen. I don't knock the brand since it ignited my passion for watches. It's still in my collection and has a special place, I guess a symbol of achievement (my 15 year old me).
It is not just about Fossil being an affordable watch it is also about how easy access to service it has. I was gifted a Bulova and jwellery shops are asking 100-150 just to change battery and service it. Whenever something happened to my Fossil watch I just walk into the fossil store and they replace my battery adjust links or clean it for free. It has been quite accurate on time and has worked well.
imo avoid brands that produces different kinds of products and none are well made. IMO Fossil is one of those brands that makes overpriced cheap items.
I have the black version of this watch. It's been with me through thick and thin. I've put multiple watch faces on the band over 3 years. It's held up remarkably well. Gets more comfortable and looks better over time. Tiny amount of discoloration along the crease lines adjacent to the adjustment holes - but nowhere else. Not noticeable or bothersome to me. I wash it gently once a year and it comes out like new. If you like this style of band it's definitely worth the money. That said, Fossil does sell a very similar band without the watch, which might be a better option since the coachman itself is really not that good. My favorite watch with the black version of this band is the Fossil Decker.
Fossil is what got me into watches. I bought a Fossil for $70 in early 2000s thought it was cool until it stopped. It went to get the battery changed but it didn't work. Bought another one, same thing happened. So I decided to spend a little more on a Bulova Marine Star. It got banged up, scratched but it kept working (and still does to this day). I eventually bought a newer model, which I still have, just as tough and dependable.
Sometime around 2002 I bought a Fossil watch and ended up having it for almost twelve years. It was a great watch that never gave me any problems until it just died. I ended up taking it to a jeweler to see if there was any hope, and they told me the cost to fix it wasn't worth it. So, I went out to buy another Fossil hoping for the same quality. It only lasted me a few months before it died and even though the glass was mineral, it became easily scratched. Jump forward to a couple of years ago, and I checked out the watch above. It looked great online, but when I checked it out in the store, it was obvious that it was an inferior product. I consider my Timex Weekender to be a far superior watch. My dad was a landscaper for over forty years and never once had a problem with the Timex watches he owned, and always told me they were a watch that never let anybody down with always plenty of wear and tear.
Sounds like how most things are now, Chinese products or similar to them sold for marked up price not meant to last. I've had a fossil watch for over 15 years and it works great still, only problem was I banged the crystal on something at work pretty hard last year and got a slight crack in the corner. Fossil themselves couldn't replace the front it was so old, but I still wear it.
I’m old enough to remember watching the tv ads with the cliff divers in Mexico, “Timex, takes a licking, keeps on ticking”. Brilliant piece of advertising!
Look online for a old model 👍iv one it’s about 15 years got it on eBay second hand still going just new battery’s but takes two of em it has digital background.
My wife bought me one of those about 10 years ago (so, it's the older model), and I have to say I didn't have such a bad experience from it. It seems to be better quality than this modern one you looked at. She did over pay for it though...
@@travelingfox3621 Just to tell the time? Then why didn't you get a cheap but reliable and durable casio or seiko instead of this overpriced piece of garbage?
Fossil started out as a watch brand. His foray into other leather and jewelry products came later. I have a Fossil Decker for 11 years and it is going well so far and I recently bought another one in brown that I liked because of that color, and I have Casio, Seiko and Orient.
My first watch that I bought 10 years ago was Fossil JR1437. It's still working and I am still wearing it almost every single day and it's very robust. Was thrown multiple times against doors, walls by my brother, but still works like a charm. My next watch is probably going to be Orient Bambino 38mm white dial and Casio A168 or A700
Honestly the design looks really good to me. I wish an actual good manufacturer made it though, because I wouldn’t wear something that badly made if you paid me.
@@Erolanya I doubt he got the bad one. Even so, that's still a bit of a red flag. Vostok Amphibia has better quality control and yet it's cheaper and more complicated than a quartz watch. In my opinion Fossil watches just kinda suck in general.
I must admit, I like the integration of the crystal into the bezel, I don't recall seeing this done on any other watches (sure it is, but I've not seen one), but Fossil are a fashion watch, not one for people who appreciate watches. Still, at least it's not just another Rolex lookalike...
Considering this isn't sapphire I might only wish a good luck with replacing it after awhile. That's the main idea behind why major watchmakers don't usually integrate crystal into bezel/case. I replaced mineral crystal to sapphire on my Orient Ray II for ~A$25 myself (that's the main reason why I think Kamasu is slightly overrated over Ray\Mako). And that's a once in a lifetime modification for this watch, as I believe that servicing mechanical Orient movement will cost you more than a new watch, which makes them disposable in ~10-15 years, and sapphire can easily survive that period with no issues.
@@snowmean1 I think people would happy pay to fix them even if it cost he cost of the watch because you can't buy a lot of these watches again l. I have a Fossil watch I can't replace l. nobody selling them and I love it.
While I don't like this watch, I have a '94 Fossil Chronograph that I love. It was a gift from my Aunt, and along with a Camel Trophy watch gifted to me by my Grandfather, got me interested in watches. It is as special to me as any other watch in my collection.
I own the version with the blue mineral and skeleton hands, it runs perfect on the markers, and the strap is in use on another watch and after 3 years of regular use still looking fine.
I've had experience with this watch 10 years ago. Honestly I thought it was good, and for a moment I thought about buying one again. 10 years ago I wasn't looking at lug to lug sizes or the thickness. Thanks to your video I'll keep my $120.
I worked at fossil for 3 year or so and never understood why this watch was so popular! They have made a lot of very nice watches at reasonable prices. They’re not made for watch fanatics at all. But I can confirm they really stand the test of time. A lot of regular customers came in with watches they’d had for 4-10 years. Which is not bad going for a fashion watch. I still have a few in my collection that I can’t bear to get rid of that don’t have an issue!
True Kieran .. finally a better comment on fossil . Yes it is now a great watch tecnically but obviously will leave the boring crafted watches behind in looks . More than 50 pct of Fossil watches (not this one) have great looks and people do care what watch are you wearing . My first watch which I bought in 2010 was fossil hence lot of emotions are with this brand
@@vedulasrikar I'd say townsman (the smaller model), grant, neutra, sport 54 and decker are the best. sport 54 and decker are very speedmaster inspired (decker was always the most popular but does look a little dated in design now admittedly in my opinion) townsman and grant are as minimalist as a chronograph can be and look really sleek. grant is a classic more timeless design that suits literally everyone.
@@kieranrats94 the Neutra (auto) is a nice looking watch that I’m happy to own👍🏼 .. the Townsman or the Grant will probably come next in my collection .. they’re kind of too big for my wrists but I’ve kind of accepted that the majority of Fossil watches are over-sized .. they’re good looking pieces for the price nonetheless.
@@tomasandreas7939 yeah they often sit around 42mm or more. They rarely go under for their men’s watches though There was a 40mm Chronograph called Buchanan that was stunning but it’s a nightmare to find now. Is be wary of their more recent auto’s. They used to use miyota movement’s which were reliable but have since switched to Chinese movements which I can’t say much about.
I have bought a Casio after watching your round-up on some of their best budget models, and I picked an A158W for my mother, and an AE1200 for myself. Now I'm in the little rabbit hole of watch review content, despite not being interested in collecting. I believe these videos are amazing as educative content, shamefully people profit over customer ignorance, so having a speck of light on the subject helps us, laypeople, to be more aware of what to buy, even something as innocuous as a wristwatch.
I have a number of Fossil watches, and personally Ive only had good experiences. A couple watches that are clearly designed to be more for the sake of durability for things like rock climbing, hiking, ect. that you can really rough up and not worry about them petering out in a couple months. Where as the couple that I have or more so "fashion" watches, for that general price range are really quite nice for casual but sleek wear. It is a brand that I would stand by myself based on my own experiences, though in this instance you have shown what carelessness in construct can produce. I genuinely thought you were showing off a cheap knock off, until you made of a point of it being authentic. If nothing else I thank you for making me see that I will need to be careful in selecting should I ever decide to add more Fossils to my collection. I would say you should consider revisiting this brand in the future, as I do agree in you statement of people convincing themselves that this specific watch is a good one when it is clearly not, but I know that there are much better watches in the brand for a much more fair price that are worth showcasing! Thanks for the videos, it was a good one!
Thats because fossil uses Miyota(Japan) & "Quality" Epson Seiko Movements ( ie those manufactured in Japan as seiko also manufactures in china , Singapore ) , which should normally for 20 years + nonstop.
He didn't say how he confirmed it was authentic. Even authorized dealers have been known to sell fake watches there's so many fake foxes out there sometimes I think there's more fakes than real ones. I mean he literally admitted it had different hands than the one in the photo. Lmao.
This is what happens when you have a prejudice even before using the watch. Negatives always cover the positives. Fossil is my first watch that I have been using from roughly over 6 months, and I have no complaints what so ever. It's bulky feel makes me feel like sporting a premium watch rather than small, lean, light weight cheap watches. It makes you feel its presence on your hand.
What I particularly hate are watches that have a chronograph and a tachymeter, yet don't use a small seconds hand. Like this one. That alone makes it a bad deal in my book.
My first 2 watches were Fossil, back when I first got them I thought they were the best things in the world until around a year ago when I started knowing my stuff on watches, I’ve only had them 3 years and the leather straps are already falling apart, but I still wear them every once and a while for nostalgia.
i’ve owned 3 fossils and have always loved them. my dad had one that lasted 15 years! stinks that you had such a bad experience, but you should give one of their other watches a shot.
Here in the U.S. Fossil is one of those watches that sell for under $80. Normally in the $50-60 range at retail. Their other similar brand, Relic, also go for around the same price. They're not meant to be high end as their customer base are those buying Timex and Casio. The founder who now runs Shinola no longer really has much of a stake in Fossil, but the earlier watches from the 90s-early 2000s had better designs. Some even had Swiss movements. They've gotten lazy over the years...I don't own any but for the price I think it's decent.
FOSSIL, is just an older fashion brand like mvmt and is just a mark up marketing monster. Managed to sell through jewelry shops so people think they buy quality.
Good point. Probably to make it seem like you got more value for your buck. Then again, people who buy Fossil don't care about the functionality of a Watch.
Actually, sometimes Fossil get it right. Some of their designs are great, and usually the construction is very good. I have had no complaints from selling half a dozen other Fossil models. Even Rolex can turn out a horror now and then.
I have a Fossil watch of a similar design to the one in the review but an earlier model from about 12 years ago. It's built reasonably well, certainly better than the one in the review, everything lines up, the second hand hits the marks perfectly etc. It's still going strong with just a battery change and runs consistently at +0.1 a day, the only other analogue quartz watch I have that can manage that accuracy is a Seiko Flighty. The strap gave up on it years ago and I now use it as a beater on a nato. I think it has a no-jewel Japan S11 VD53B movement in it. If I was in the market for something like this now I'd certainly think twice about buying. OK mine was never the best watch in the world but it was a damn sight better than the junk they seem to be making nowadays.
Straight forward and HONEST NO BS review ...... Subscribed. I am just so sick of channels to praise everything that they are trying to sell while throwing constant BS at poorly made products (in lack of a better word. some reviewers wont even truly say the turns are not functional.)
The quality.....I once had a 90 bucks esprit watch and if I dropped it from 2 high it would be still working, cheap watches from brands like this, are quality wise the best you can get

I bought a Fossil Blue back in 1999. It was my first “nice” watch I had ever bought for myself. Wore it for two decades before it finally gave up and the movement broke. I’ve got another Fossil Blue my ex wife( girlfriend at the time) bought me for Christmas, and that one is still going. I think their QC fell apart through the decades and the rise of the Apple Watch forced them to cheap out even more to stay afloat. But that first watch still hold a special place in my heart because it started me on my watch journey and I have a collection of Omegas and Longines now because of it.
My first automatic watch was a Fossil. It got me interested in watches and now I own two Omegas and a Rolex. If it gets you interested in watches it has done it’s part.
Uncool. The biggest detractor for me about this watch is that the chronograph seconds hand is on the subdial, with the running seconds on the main hand. The fact that it also has a tachymeter on the chapter ring makes this choice even more frustrating. One of my biggest pet peeves are additions that look functional but are purely for decoration (e.g. subdials that are printed on but don't do anything). You can get a Timex Weekender Chronograph for less than $50 and it is actually a good quartz chronograph.
This is the similar model they used in the game uncharted. Nathan Drake the main character wear this watch. That's why it got so many rating because of the aesthetic. Not because of the quality of the watch
As a watch enthusiast, I am never looking at the watch to know the time but just to appreciate the dial, the hands moving, the lights bending and making contrasting patterns on the dial. This watch is obv designed for the general public who are looking for compliments not us whom you would find alone in a party staring at a watch from diff angles
My God. For about five years I was a slavish Fossil fanboi. After a somewhat brutal therapy which masqueraded as 'rehab', I sold my Fossil collection and now I have become the successful human being I was always destined to be. Thanks WatchCrunch!
I’m amazed at the low quality. I have an older version of this watch (but the blue version) and it’s clear that the quality has significantly dropped since I got mine. The strap looks so much cheaper than the one on mine (different buckle too). Looking at my watch under macro, the sub dials are definitely inset rather than applied, and I don’t have the misalignment issues on mine. Seems like most of the positive reviews are for the older version; it’s sad when standards are dropped.
I think you are bang on with the perception that people think they're buying an expensive looking watch. For someone who is not into watches, the combination of price, looks and features may trick them into thinking they got a good deal... I see this all around me.
Hey Ben, I'm a proud owner of a strawberry red Fossil Forrester! It's obviously a cheap watch, the level of finish is basically what you described. But I enjoy the smart proportions and the trench watch dial (which is very unique in red). The Forrester I got comes with a silicon strap which is quite comfortable, and won't fall into crumbs like cheap leather. It's a real shame that you reviewed the chunkiest and ugliest Fossil watch. Fossil makes better looking watches on the smaller side. I like the Archival, Forrester, FB-01 and Copeland to name a few.
You're doing good work Ben mate, the part where you go into why this watch might be so highly rated on Amazon is bang on and I have no doubt that your videos have prevented many people from buying cheap tat like this and instead arm them with some knowledge so they can choose a good watch which really doesn't even have to cost more than this.
So... I owned this watch for a long time many years ago. It did stop working after daily wear for several years. However, I liked it so much, I got second one to replace it. The new one was made cheaper, had cheaper leather, stitching, and metal. The leather broke down quickly and the watch stopped working. Needless to say, I stopped buying Fossil after my experience. I believe the amazing reviews you saw may be skewed by the far better original than the newer versions of this same watch. Great work on this video, though!
I have a Fossil watch. The hands hit right on the markers, the glass is decent, it fits me very well, and it is a good watch for me. If you are lucky and know how to choose, you can get a good watch
I bought one from Fossil directly, it arrived and didn't work. I vowed never again to buy a fashion watch and went out and bought a Hamilton Jazzmaster instead. Yeah, much more expensive, but infinitely better quality. Also, it actually worked.
I'm currently repairing a similar Fossil watch for a friend. He likes it for sentimental reasons. I actually don't hate it (different model but same size) just wished it was higher QC. I don't think he realizes it was a chronograph... I don't think many that buy fashion watches know what the other sub dials are for. They just like the look. The build quality and materials are appropriate for a watch half the price.
What's really stupid of the brand is that they include a tachymeter chapter ring on its chronographs but the larger second hand is used for time. This makes absolutely no sense.
I have a friend who has a couple older Fossils and they really do look very nice. I feel like they've just given up lately and just hope people buy their watches because they recognize the brand.
I was given a fossil watch over 19 years ago and I still have and use it. Within the 19 years I have change the battery once and the strap just to update the look from stainless steel to leather straps similar to the straps you are show casing in your video but mine is darker. Thanks for your honest review
For me on Amazon, it's showing 139 USD. My Tissot Quickster cost me 148. Yes, it's probably the cheapest watch they make, but it's a damned Tissot chronograph for nearly the same cost as this toy.
You told the truth...lol! I will never buy another Fossil watch again. The first Fossil watch I paid over $100 for at Dillard's twenty five years ago had a bald faced lie engraved on the back saying all stainless steel. Well the case was just chrome plated pot metal and corroded scratching my wrist till it broke out in a rash! Great review though and I really like your channel very much. Please keep the excellent content coming!👍
I still have my 1994 Fossil watch. Came on a similar bunt strap. It's on a two piece now, still works. 1994 was the last time I saw one that interested me.
I’m going to be annoying here but I believe the cognitive bias you’re looking for is ‘Choice-supportive’ bias or ‘post-purchase rationalization.’ ‘Fallacy of sunk costs’ would perhaps apply to someone who buys a relatively expensive vintage watch then spends more than what its worth servicing it; doubling down bc of an initial poor decision followed by a “i’ve already ‘invested’ in it, so I should see it through.’The difference is slight. Regardless, a very fascinating angle to bring consumer psychology in for a review 👍 i’m starting to expect more than a stat sheet form this channel. very good work
I am a huge fan of Fossil watches and actually own 4 of my own and have never had anything negative to say about the brand as a whole or their products. I mostly just wanted to point out that while it had a 5 star rating on Amazon, on Fossil's actual website (which i think is better to use instead of Amazon), it only had a rating of 3.4. I know Amazon is good for deals, but i feel when it comes to watches it might be best to buy directly from the brand website itself. Not to mention you never know what has happened to that watch while inside of an Amazon warehouse.
LONG TERM REVIEW - i owned 2 FOSSIL watches, both broke before a battery replacement was necessary.... just don´t buy it... i learned from experience... save your money...
What the hell? I’ve had a fossil for well over a decade and just recently got another. What did you do to break it? Lmao The older one was a part of the “Blue” line or some shit.
I have a pre-Fossil Skagen 596XLTXN (bought for me as a gift) and I have to say it's not missed a beat in 12 years. The second hand hits its indices every time (not the case with the only other quartz watch I have.. a Longines Hydroconquest) and the QC is fine. It's not horologically interesting in any way but I can't complain about its build quality or reliability.
@@amberhiggins6327 so your point is that Fossil makes good straps and bracelets? Thank you, notes taken. But they can be bought separately from the watch itself, while you haven't mention their dials, case finishings or movements as selling points for said watches.
@@amberhiggins6327 oh, I see. Yeah, I've clearly misunderstood you, my bad. Thank you for your detailed response! By the way, do you happen to have a Fossil Townsman? Sounds very reasonable for me, considering no need for shipping and stuff. Guess, I'll go for it. I'm quite new to the watch community, so I'm not yet very knowledgeable. As of now, I've learned that pretty renders are of little value thanks to all that fuss over fashion watches here on RUclips. Well, that and also to appreciate my old Orient diver even more. @@javiercantu9271 It really depends on how much they pay. I have a company that started building watches in South Africa. Even though we use quartz Miyota mechanisms for now, I must tell you it aint cheap to build the complete watch. Then again, I designed the whole watch to be quality. I agree with you on the Chinese builds, as those casings and parts are mass produced, that is why all the watches look the same, bar the difference in pad printing designs. Even worse if they use a Chinese quartz movement.. As soon as sales pick up we will move to use Miyota mechanical movements in steel casings, until we can develop our own movement. I am so keen on also trying compliant mechanisms, even the automatic will always give that quality to a good watch.

Why is the main second hand moving, but the sub dial seconds isn't? It appears that the watch doesn't even function like a real tachymeter chronograph.

And so that my friend is why they are so HIGHLY rated by everyone who purchases one.
I have had multiple fossils over the years, as has my dad. Ours have never failed us once! Really disappointed to see you had such a shite experience mate.
I started with a Fossil watch: I recieved one as a gift many years ago for my 18th birthday. The quality and realiability of these watches is pretty bad (or at least this is what I experienced), but some of their designs are nice. I have the Decker, which streaks a nice resemblance with the Speedmaster (I got lucky, since at the time I recieved it I didn't even know what a Speedmaster was), and for 100-120 euros there's not so many chronographs with a cooler design. Still, wouldn't buy one today, with my own money... there's so much better on the market if you look around.
i do have 4 fossil watches. 2 of them a few years old and still nice and usable 1 hybrid that is still great but the quick release on the band is broken. (I do sweat a lot) The hybrid hr died after 4 month but I got it replaced with a brand new one in a matter of minutes from fossil. consider the price these watched where overall better than my citizen that cost 4 times that much and broke after just one year.

Same here. They last a long time. Seems like the only thing needing replacing is the straps and batteries.
Shit quality. Awesome looks.
I have a fossil watch since 2005 (blue edition). When people SEE it they Tell me "That's a great watch, it must have cost You an arm and a leg". I take care My watch since then.

I got a Fossil minimalist on Christmas 2022, i'm 15 as well. It looks really nice to me and it also ignited my passion for watches. Weird
Bulova focuses on automatic movements. If you want good, easy to service, and consistent quartz movements, you can't go wrong with Casio and Citizen.
So if my Fossil battery dies, they will replace it for free at a store location?
So this is one Fossil that wasn't worth digging up then? 😉
Bury it for a million years....

imo avoid brands that produces different kinds of products and none are well made. IMO Fossil is one of those brands that makes overpriced cheap items.
Obviously its a crap watch. I think its a trend that caught on and people just followed without having any good taste.
they make no "bones" about it looking cheap
Damn it what happened at 00:32 ??? Man!! I thought I phone screen broke 😅😅😅
@seanthomxx2694 Marine Star gang. I got a gold plated Marine Star series A. I love it, and its currently my favourite watch.
I love my Timex Weekender as well.
I have an older version of this watch too and I must admit that the quality of the newer ones look really poor compared to what I have.
I have one of the new ones, I believe the old ones look better. I got my just tell the time.

I had a Seiko 250 euro, with exactly the same problems Fossil is good he got just the bad one.

Can you suggest me a nice fossil chronograph model available right now?
@@vedulasrikar I'd say townsman (the smaller model), grant, neutra, sport 54 and decker are the best.
sport 54 and decker are very speedmaster inspired (decker was always the most popular but does look a little dated in design now admittedly in my opinion)
townsman and grant are as minimalist as a chronograph can be and look really sleek.
grant is a classic more timeless design that suits literally everyone.

So happy to see you wearing that Casio A700 in your videos! Makes me even more proud of my choice of watch :)

What I particularly hate are watches that have a chronograph and a tachymeter, yet don't use a small seconds hand. Like this one. That alone makes it a bad deal in my book.
Agree, it renders the tachymeter useless.
I bought this watch when I was in High School. I graduated college 6 years ago.
My first 2 watches were Fossil, back when I first got them I thought they were the best things in the world until around a year ago when I started knowing my stuff on watches, I’ve only had them 3 years and the leather straps are already falling apart, but I still wear them every once and a while for nostalgia.
Any idea why the Amazon screen shots are obscured?
i’ve owned 3 fossils and have always loved them. my dad had one that lasted 15 years! stinks that you had such a bad experience, but you should give one of their other watches a shot.
They used to be good. Now not so much.
@Real Deal this one has better quality than my 250 euro Seiko solar
Managed to sell through jewelry shops so people think they buy quality.
they still look great
Why is there a tachymeter if the real seconds hand is as usual, while the chronograph one is in the subdial?
Good point. Probably to make it seem like you got more value for your buck. Then again, people who buy Fossil don't care about the functionality of a Watch.
@@bubblewrapvillain lol yeah. Fashion brand watches are all about the brand

I was never going to buy a fossil watch but this at least gives me reassures me that I've made the right call! Great video mate!
They're crap.
That's got to be the dumbest fucking reason to wear a watch that I've ever heard.
My God. For about five years I was a slavish Fossil fanboi. After a somewhat brutal therapy which masqueraded as 'rehab', I sold my Fossil collection and now I have become the successful human being I was always destined to be. Thanks WatchCrunch!

Just bought the chronograph sport and I'm extremely happy with it
Had this exact one for years and personally I’ve really liked it. Worn it almost every day.
Sounds like we both have the same version.
How come every time Ben shows an Amazon screen (I'm assuming) it's blurred out?
This was such a violently British critique and this American is loving it 🤣👏🏻
Fossil watches are beautiful and one of the best quality watches, for true gentle man watches
This was actually my first watch. I bought one when I was 13 years old. Although I don't buy fossil anymore it did get me into watches
Never seen a Fossil watch where the second had actually points at the minutes.. always half second.. With my OCD its a no go.
I've never been a fan of the Fossil brand, but this watch was worse then I could've even imagined.
Uncool.
Of all fashion brands, at least, Fossil is trying somewhat with some of its watches.

You told the truth...lol! I will never buy another Fossil watch again. The first Fossil watch I paid over $100 for at Dillard's twenty five years ago had a bald faced lie engraved on the back saying all stainless steel.
Regardless, a very fascinating angle to bring consumer psychology in for a review 👍 i’m starting to expect more than a stat sheet form this channel. very good work
I have a small wrist.do you think i need to poke more holes on the strap?
I ware my fossil watch every day, its about 25 years old!
😲
Why have a tachymeter if the seconds hand is the large one and the chronograph one is on the window?
I am a huge fan of Fossil watches and actually own 4 of my own and have never had anything negative to say about the brand as a whole or their products. I mostly just wanted to point out that while it had a 5 star rating on Amazon, on Fossil's actual website (which i think is better to use instead of Amazon), it only had a rating of 3.4. I know Amazon is good for deals, but i feel when it comes to watches it might be best to buy directly from the brand website itself. Not to mention you never know what has happened to that watch while inside of an Amazon warehouse.
What's with the blurring when showing screenshots from websites and stuff?

Which model Casio are you wearing?
0:28 and see what the fossil was about :)
His comments given his accent are just killing me! How is this guy not more popular?
I heard beyblade, and wanted to smash the like-button a second time.
Big ball of nothingness. Definitely Ice Garbage.
@@amberhiggins6327 Yes but Fossil uses cheap materials everywere, like all 20$ watches and ask for 110$,with no offence, cheers.
And if so, what are your thoughts on it? I like the renders but couldn't find comprehensive reviews as of now. And Ben's one marked the whole brand as rather off-putting, to be honest.
Yes, I wanted to check it in person myself, but all this pandemic situation kind of made me change my mind for time being. :)
@@amberhiggins6327 ok, now I know that there are quite a few of "Townsmen". I thought that was a model's name, I'd better just go with a reference next time. But anyways you picked the one I was talking about. :)
Here in Moscow leather works just fine for at least half a year. Our local aggregators don't have any reviews as of now, and the idea of checking out Amazon hasn't even crossed my mind. I'm not the brightest one, I know. :) Although, it's not like I'm in a great hurry as I'm thinking of buying it just for myself.
It's now on sale for ≈ $90 USD locally.
Anyways, thanks for your advice, you gave me confidence about the brand. Have a great evening and stay safe!
@@amberhiggins6327 great one! Even though magnifying date windows are usually not my cup, this one looks nice.
What's the purpose of a tachymeter if the chronograph's second hand is on the subdial?
Remarkable. Selling these trash fashion watches to the masses must feel like taking candy from a baby to these companies
Not everyone can afford an automatic or expensive brand.
@@yououtuber4176 if they can buy this crap they can get a good Japanese automatic instead of getting ripped off with fossil chinese bs
@@yououtuber4176 a Seiko 5 costs less than this and those fashion brands use rebranded chinese watches that you can buy for a fraction of the cost on Alibaba. They're not neceseraly bad watches, but a bad deal.
@@yououtuber4176 could say the name? I'm curious about it. Real respect
Why is the main second hand moving, but the sub dial seconds isn't? It appears that the watch doesn't even function like a real tachymeter chronograph.
I was once going to review a Fossil. Even made a beautiful thumbnail in Photoshop for it. Got the watch from Amazon two days later. It was such garbage that I gave it to a co-worker I couldn't stand. He then thought that made us friends. I sure showed him.
I don’t no what’s more garbage you or the watch
@@Erolanya Awww... you're triggered.
@@maverickwatchreviews I dont give shit what i dont like to other people
@@Erolanya Ok buddy, keep being angry and nonsensical...lol.
@@maverickwatchreviews I am so angry😁
I think your REALLY nitpicking here. I own the brown Fossil chronograph. And just ordered the black version with the blue face. And my brown one i get compliments on ALL the time. Long lasting battery and VERY comfortable for a leather "cuff watch". Fossil makes excellent watches and have for a long time now. And so that my friend is why they are so HIGHLY rated by everyone who purchases one.
I have had multiple fossils over the years, as has my dad. Ours have never failed us once! Really disappointed to see you had such a shite experience mate.
Why are the Amazon screenshots always blurred?
2 of them a few years old and still nice and usable
1 hybrid that is still great but the quick release on the band is broken. (I do sweat a lot)
The hybrid hr died after 4 month but I got it replaced with a brand new one in a matter of minutes from fossil.
consider the price these watched where overall better than my citizen that cost 4 times that much and broke after just one year.
Thank you. You pointed out why I was worried about. My last FOSSIL fell apart and I should’ve expected this level of quality.
