Hey folks! We've released a full-length video on our trip through Labrador in a pair of Toyota Tundras. Check it out here - ruclips.net/video/e4r5LK0j4Lg/видео.html
Can you guys do a video on the Nissan Titan (post 2020 trans and hp boost) refresh and if possible do the SV trim?? It has some new safety standard and tech too. I get the Pro4x is the off roader but the SV is the trim that most people buy so I would love to see it go through the tests you guys put it through.
Getting ready to retire after 25 years as a park ranger. Drove Ford or Dodges during my career. Owned my 4-runner for 20 years and will gift myself a tundra as a retirement gift as I move to another mountain range with snow. Thanks for the review.
Late congrats. , but congrats all the same. My still new 1794 less than 4k miles). It5 just roasts the competition for the same Price, but much better Equipped. Ps. Sorry about the grammar. I'm falling asleep and itz taking me down... Q
A good friend of mine cross shopped all the half tons and ended up buying this exact Tundra due to interior simplicity and long term reliability of the 5.7L V8. He couldn't be happier.
I went out there fully expecting to get an F150 (having just sold two Mustangs), or a RAM. V8 was a must-have. The 1794 is top of pack, alongside the Platinum. I got mine with a spray-in bedliner and dealer installed TRD Pro exhaust for under $50k USD out the door! The Ford and RAM, were $10-20k more, unless they were stripped. Tundra all day long.
Most likely the best built truck available today. Not the latest gadgets and tech, poor fuel economy but it will never let you down like the domestics. Not to mention the amazing value and resale value.
Probably more domestic than the "domestic" brands. Being built in Texas with most parts made in North America. Toyota was smart to do this to win over the domestic market. I will always drive a Tundra here in Canada.
The Tundra is a tried & true truck. Getting you from point A to point B in a safe & dependable manner. I have had all of the big 3. All of them have started having major problems by 100000-130000 miles. I have never heard of any of the big 3 going a million miles. I finally bought a Tundra. Great so far. I don't know what people think is lacking...America is full of weak pussies that need to be pampered I guess. I feel like I am in luxury with an automatic transmission, A/C, power locks and windows....and RELIABILITY. Fuck all the high tech shit, I want a truck that goes 500000 miles with basic maintenance. None of the big 3 have shown they will do that.
Just picked up a 2021 Tundra. Couldn't be happier! Came from a Chevy diesel and love the feel of driving the Tundra. And always wanted a V8 which might not be available much longer. Nice review.
Count me in for the Tundra video. While behind the times it is probably the truck most likely to still be on the road and running reliably in 20 years.
I would love to see your dad's Tundra footage! I'm on my second Tundra and couldn't be happier. This truck may lack in features, but it's a proven platform that does the job you ask of it.
To be honest they really don't lack. Safety sense with autonomous braking and adaptive cruise is standard. So is navigation. Also has features others don't offer, like the full roll down back glass and the in cab adjustable headlights where you can adjust your headlight level with a thumb wheel on the dash. Toyota has offered this since 2007, the big 3 still don't offer it. It also has a 10.5 inch 4.30 rear end. You can get heated and ventilated seats just like the others as well as a nice JBL system. Only thing the tundra really needs for me is a 360 camera. It may only have a 6 spd but its a bulletproof transmission that will out last the transmissions that the big 3 offer.
Bro I love that you spend time with who really matter, your family and you will now remember that for ever. Plus you’re so positive and happy keep it up
I have had 3 tundras amidst other trucks. Currently own 2 (for business) and they have been the most consistent trucks for me. I have 250k on the one, with only oil changes and brakes done. 120k on the other with only fluids and brake pads done. We tow 8-10k almost every day, they have never let me down. Also great offroad. Dont be afraid of the payload “limitation”. Add a leaf and you will be pleasantly surprised at what they can handle.
This is honestly one of the best videos I have watched on RUclips about the Tundra. I recently purchased a new 2021 Tundra TRD Off Road with a 38 Gallon fuel tank and towing mirrors. Besides the sucky gas mileage, the truck exceeds all my expectations, especially when towing my 28’ Airstream. I looked at the Big 3 pick ups, but too many bells & whistles and technology. Being an old fart, I enjoy a more basic, reliable, strong V-8 pick up. Guess I’m old school. Thanks again for this video, it confirmed my decision on buying my Tundra.
It’s hard working, reliable truck. It’s just ancient. If you’re not worried about gadgets or fuel economy, it’s the perfect buy in my opinion. ( I’m a Toyota guy)

Stop looking at the door stickers. If it fits in the bed, haul it ! 👍😁 Seriously though I think if it says 1000 pounds payload I think that's in the bed not the cab. The gvwr is payload, passengers and truck. If it says 1000 pounds payload then put 1000 pounds in it. Don't think you need to worry about who's in the cab.
As soon as you mentioned your trip to the Atlantic, I pulled up Google Maps to look at your route. Heck yes I'd like to see video footage augmented with maps of the route.
Hey guys ! I’m a new subscriber with a 17’ Tundra 4x4 I bought new and haven’t regretted a single day of ownership...I’m a senior who appreciates the simplicity of the Tundra without all those extra gadgets. It’s a great solid truck that handles perfectly with any road condition. I’d love to see that long winter trip also.. Thanks for sharing 👍
I'm with you. I embrace tech in many ways, but when it comes to my trucks, I want it to be very nice on the inside, yet very rugged and dependable where it matters.
Post the old footage! 2012 Tundra CM 4WD with 189k miles. Drives awesome. Drinks gas but most tundra owners don’t care. Love knowing that it won’t break down on me like others!
Great to hear. I bought a 2012 CM Limited August 2018 with 42,000 miles. Now have 55,000 miles, so hope mine lasts for 189,000 miles or more. Great truck and plan to keep it forever!
I just bought a 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited in that same cement color with the off road package and only 42,000 miles! It’s certified pre owned to boot and I love it!!
Love you guys! You hit all aspects of truck ownership w/ all the models you test and apply real-world parameters! So thorough, so very good; thank you and please keep ‘em coming!👍🏻👍🏻
I bought a 2021 Tundra Nightshade Edition in magnetic gray metallic! I love it! My first Tundra. Really wanted to get the V8 engine and the look of the current version before it was gone
Great video. Honest and real. I drive a 2014 SR5 Toyota Tundra 5.7 V8 2x2 and pull a 25fb Airstream trailer. Weight 6,000 pounds and zero issues. On Toyota I have firestone rear air shocks, flow master exhaust, EZ Stop Z36 brakes. Prodigy electronic braking system. I love the Toyota. My buds are all diesel pushers and they even say this Toyota pulls the Airstream with zero issues in power, control, braking, climbing, smoothness and sway. I swapped the stock brakes and did not like the braking power of the truck without towing. I was able to pull truck and trailer with a 15 gallon Titan Sidekick due to 26 gallon tank and drove 275 miles on 101 southbound and got 13.2 mpg. Decent about 1%. On the way back I got 12.2 mpg. I seldom drive with Tow Haul mode on. Climbs yes, and more important on descents for braking and control but most of the time 75% do not need it. This Toyota is a collector and my friends that own there diesels now are paying the big $$$. There is a saying that everyone loves a Diesel until the warranty has expired. the emission standards are choking the Diesels to death. Gas is the new Diesel. I'm a fan of the Diesel but you need money and if your pulling real weight go with that train. This Toyota pulls better than many 2500's that I have tested out including Dodge and Ford. Dodge best braking power and solid torque on the diesel 2500. The gas is clunky and both of those models have real transmission problems. The Ford has power but damn when something goes wrong it is in the shop for weeks at the dealerships. Toyota is made in Texas!! Dodge & Ford I think Mexico.
I thought I wanted a spray in bed liner, but the drop in has a big advantage. It is a LOT easier getting things in and out with the drop in. Things slide in or out with no problem. Every 2 weeks we do our big grocery shopping and the drop in liner makes getting the groceries in and out so much easier. Dump runs are easier. Furniture moves are easier. I've grown to really appreciate the drop in!
My heavens, what a fantastic video! The honoring between the father and the son and the real world benefits of owning a Tundra. Excellent excellent job gentlemen! May God continue to Bless you guys!
I like the Tundra , I like the V8 , not too concerned about the MPG , I like how smooth and powerful it is , not to mention the most reliable truck in this segment, in my opinion. So I say yes 👍👍 two thumbs up for the Tundra
@@GeorgiaGuy56I could not agree more with you. With all the same thought in mind I got mine 2021 model. Regarding newer Gen Tundra 2022 and up, I have huge doubts those trucks will be as reliable. The have overcomplicated the powertrain by putting more gears in the tranny and dressed up motor with 2 turbochargers. Well, time will tell if I was right.
Holy Im 45 and i just order my 2021 tundra sr5 trd-sport package 4x4 ... It s great to know we think outside the box (ram/chevi/ford) Congrats or your great purchase guys .
I know this an older video and thread but nothing has changed. I bought a 2021 in May of 21. I bought this truck because of the legendary quality, simplicity . A no bullshit approach to a great truck. I have subcontractors that work for me and this is the Only truck they will use. 300k plus miles on most of them where the dodge, chevy and fords struggle to get to. Towing a 5000 pound trailer on my vacations, I need as close to a guarantee as possible. This was it.
I've owned two tundras (2010 & 2016) but now looking at a 4x4. I was looking at other makes because of better gas mileage, but I think I'm sticking with Toyota. This was a great review, probable one of the best...
My old girl, 2007 TRD Off Road SR5 is still going fine. I only have 153.380 KM (95,306 miles). on the 5.7L. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the modern day Tundra but all are still functioning well. I still love driving it!
Great video. One of the best I've seen on the Tundra. I own a 2013 Tundra TRD/SR5 Crewmax, though not 4X4, and recently decided to keep it rather than trade for something with the bells and whistles. It's a beast when pulling and has super comfortable seats and wow, the expansive back seat...great for my kids. I also love the sliding rear seat. I believe that they did away with that feature in 2014. It allows you to recline the back support seat for a more comfortable road trip.
Get it....Don’t wait it’s worth it...I bought a 17’ Tundra brand new and haven’t regretted a single day. My upgrade is gonna be the crew max limited soon....Good Luck to you and I hope you get one 😃
I was on the same boat. When i heard they were getting rid of the v8 i made the jump. Didnt want to rosk not getting the truck exactly as i wanted it especially since covid has hindered production i ordered the platinum. I pick it up in april
Stop teasing and show us that footage. I have an 08’ Tundra 4X4 I just bought and I tow my 20’ Powerlite toy hauler behind it. I love it. Seriously, thank you for an awesome show
This was a great review guys thanks. It is 2024 and I’m on the hunt for a 2021 Tundra with low miles. That new stuff stinks, love the old school trucks!
Love my '20 so far! You ought to do the Labrador run in each of the big 3 trucks to test reliability. My last 2 new rams stranded me in limp mode during excursions.
More Tundra footage please! As far as bed liners go, I would avoid the plastic drop in liner. I've seen what it does to a bed after years of use. Spray in is the way to go.
Great video as usual. Tundra SR5 with TRD Off Road package will carry over 1600 pounds cargo weight no issue with approximately 2" of sag in the rear. Toyota over engineers its vehicles as I had approximately 1300 pounds of cargo in the bed and (2) 200+ pound guys in the crewmax cab and the Tundra drove smooth without any issues. Truck is stock with BFG KO2 tires for snow in Colorado. I have images to DM if you're interested with the load for reference.
Every truck I ever had a drop in bedliner had moisture and rust issues underneath. I only do factory spray-in bedliners now (or no bedliner and get a spray-in from a local shop).
@@C10sRule Sounds pretty badass man! Nice! I'm currently looking for a pickup as well, trying to find the best budget full size I can. Thinking about the ram V6 or the Titan (2021 models).
@@C10sRule Thanks for the information! Which 2.7 combo would you go with, the 6 speed or 10 speed? I don't tow anything and would probably be using the truck to transport family and things in the bed. Mid sized trucks are too small for me. Honestly I want a fairly reliable truck that will do some light truck things and get decent fuel economy. No need for huge amount of power or wasting gas just driving around
There's a few things you guys could have touched on , like the roll down rear window, electronic adjustable headlamps, the fact that the 5.7 is one of, if not the most reliable V8 gas engines in the segment . Plus the transmission is built by Aisin ( known for building reliable tough transmissions) Also the gearing is 4.30 not 4.10. Which is class leading as well .
But the better fuel economy and payload comes with a price. Its called broke down in shop a lot and to much glitchy electronics and bad resale. I stick with toyota for simplicity. My rams and Fords and chevys all been complete disasters in my experience.
@@MrRGiller how many million mile American trucks are there with original drivetrains? How many times has Toyota been bailed out by their government because they made crap?
I have a 2012 double cab with 10 ply tires and airbags in the rear. I’ve put easily 2,900 pounds of material a couple of times and it took it like a champ.
I don’t really know if being 25 years young matters so much about appreciating simple trucks like the Tundra but I want one! I’d rather have a truck that I know will never let me down and will do what it was built for to serve me and my future family. I don’t have one yet but later when I need one
i absolutely love my 2019 platinum tundra, i did alot to it. dropped another 15-20k into it. like it way more than my 2014 z71 or dodge hemi. both were a major let down after being stuck in shitty situations, i decided reliability was the most important thing to me
Taco fan boy here. My fifth and most recent 2017 TRD OR has that composite bed and I love it when hauling around shooting match/contest supplies. I use those black Home Depot milk crates for $5.97 each to carry supplies and they slide in quickly and effortlessly. Around the corners in town, these milk crates do slip a bit, but I should just slow down. Ha ha ha. Be strong and be safe out there!!
I own a 2013 Tundra with the 4.6 , sr5-TRD and I love it. Avg 19 highway which is almost as good as my old 04 tacoma -20 mpg. I like the drop in bedliner. Payloads slide out easier and mulch&loam are easier to clean out of the bed. This was my first visit to your channel and I liked it, will check out more episodes. I also would love to see the 4000 miles Labrador trip. Thanks Guys! Great job! Lauren from Western Massachusetts
Being born and raised in Goose Bay, Labrador, I know that road very well. I've been in Alberta now for 12 years, and would love to see the footage of that trip. I seem to recall seeing it somewhere else, but would enjoy seeing it again. Thanks for the videos.
Tactical Teacher here, 1 PPCLI Calgary veteran. One day I have to share all my 1970’s vintage stories of the Newfies I served with. Without those Newfie buddies, I would be a boring person. Nobody here in Ontario believes my Army stories starring all the Newfies who chose to avoid jail and enlist with the Dirty Patricias. Ha ha ha ha. All the Best!!
Nice! Labrador itself is amazing terrain, but it's the people we met that made our trip so memorable. We'll share some stories in the video. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile I have a 2011 Tundra base truck and I look at the interior of that one and think it is a space ship. I love my great big buttons and not having to hunt for anything in any menu.
Old doesn't bother me, however, there's a few creature comforts I'd like to see added, like a retractable bed step and lighting. I've got a lot of upgrades on my 07 and it's still stupid reliable; I love it like no truck I've had before. Wish it got better mpg's, but comes with the territory. I wasn't expecting miracles with 35s and a 6 inch lift, but I do spend a lot of time at the pump with the 5.7...
I have a 2018 Tundra TRD Off Road. I purchased new and now has 24,000 miles on it. I pull my 32 ft 7000 lbs travel trailer without issue. I take it hunting and been through some tough mud and terrain and have not had an issue. I use my truck as a truck but I do take care of it and maintain it properly. Yes it has less tech and not as good fuel economy but that didn't stop me from buying it. I looked and drove all the different brands and I'm not brand loyal but after driving all the different trucks I came back to the Tundra. All brands have different pro's and con's. Each person needs to look at all brands and figure out what brands fits their needs the most. I am still very happy with my truck and would't go back and change a thing.
Just picked up a 2021 1794 4x4 because I didn't want too much tech. It's really getting out of hand. Been driving Ford's my whole life, and haven't been happier! Thank God no auto start/stop
I picked up a 2018 Canadian Tundra SR5 Crewmax TRD Offroad in 2019, that made its way to Utah with only 30 miles on it for $39k. Brand new truck. The great thing about Canadian Tundras is that they have some options not available to American Tundras in the SR5 package. I have heated cloth seats, a block heater and a sunroof.....all in the SR5 package. Love it.

Yes, let's see that Labrador footage!
I traded a 15 big horn ram for a 20 tundra. I plan to drive the tundra till retirement and I'm 44.
I traded 2016 Ram 1500 for a 2020 Tundra Sport and I also plan to drive my Tundra till retirement and I"m 39 lol
Holy
Im 45 and i just order my 2021 tundra sr5 trd-sport package 4x4 ...
It s great to know we think outside the box (ram/chevi/ford)
Congrats or your great purchase guys .
I purchased a 2006 tundra sr5 and driving till retirement 20 yrs from now lol. 2uz-fe is legendary.
bunch of clowns
@@dannymartel8754 ...Are you writing this while waiting at the Ford dealer for them to clear a CEL?
I know this an older video and thread but nothing has changed. I bought a 2021 in May of 21. I bought this truck because of the legendary quality, simplicity . A no bullshit approach to a great truck.
I have subcontractors that work for me and this is the
Only truck they will use. 300k plus miles on most of them where the dodge, chevy and fords struggle to get to. Towing a 5000 pound trailer on my vacations, I need as close to a guarantee as possible. This was it.
Absolutely wanna see the 4000 mile Tundra journey! 👍🏼
Would love to see that footage as a feature or series! Also really like the Carhartts!
Let's see that trip, boys
I've owned two tundras (2010 & 2016) but now looking at a 4x4. I was looking at other makes because of better gas mileage, but I think I'm sticking with Toyota. This was a great review, probable one of the best...
My 20 Platinum is a fantastic truck. Its got enough tech for my needs, its comfortable, sounds great and I'm sure it will be with us in 15 years.
You guys and your old buddies at TFL have the best constant.Thank you!!!
My old girl, 2007 TRD Off Road SR5 is still going fine. I only have 153.380 KM (95,306 miles). on the 5.7L. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the modern day Tundra but all are still functioning well. I still love driving it!
To me, my Tundra has a hint of old school charm. Port injection. Loud fan at startup. V8 rumble.
i absolutely love the loud fan startup
Great video. One of the best I've seen on the Tundra. I own a 2013 Tundra TRD/SR5 Crewmax, though not 4X4, and recently decided to keep it rather than trade for something with the bells and whistles. It's a beast when pulling and has super comfortable seats and wow, the expansive back seat...great for my kids. I also love the sliding rear seat. I believe that they did away with that feature in 2014. It allows you to recline the back support seat for a more comfortable road trip.
Love to see that NFLD trip
Please....share the old Tundra Footage. Good review on this current Tundra guys...keep on Truck-in (Truck-king)
I’m so close to buying a tundra this year really love your review
I love it.
Seriously, thank you for an awesome show
Show the trip footage! Love winter reviews/tests
I'd love to see the Labrador footage. It's a trip I'd like to make in the future.
I would love to see the footage from that trip across Quebec lol👍
that long continuous shot from 12:12-13:10 was beautiful
Hell yeah! Tundra story video!
Pops calling you out on skirt chasing, classic🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd like to see the Tundra trip footage. I drive a Tundra and love seeing them perform.
More Tundra footage please! As far as bed liners go, I would avoid the plastic drop in liner. I've seen what it does to a bed after years of use. Spray in is the way to go.
Spray in bed liner all the way, they’re tough as hell.
Agreed. Fought that a lot on my 07. Got a spray in on my 2020
@@C10sRule Which truck would you buy today?
Please add that story gents!! I love seeing a NEW truck without a sunroof and 4wd. I love my Toyota’s!!
To think someone would buy an American truck is insane
@@DStabs720 Actually, no, it's not insane when the big 3 offer more payload and towing capacity, along with better fuel mileage.
But the better fuel economy and payload comes with a price. Its called broke down in shop a lot and to much glitchy electronics and bad resale. I stick with toyota for simplicity. My rams and Fords and chevys all been complete disasters in my experience.
@@paulkruger2310 I have actually had good luck with my Chevy and Ford trucks. I have never owned any RAM trucks!!
Definitely want to see that road trip video footage!
I don’t really know if being 25 years young matters so much about appreciating simple trucks like the Tundra but I want one! I’d rather have a truck that I know will never let me down and will do what it was built for to serve me and my future family. I don’t have one yet but later when I need one
I believe the best bed liner is the spray on. The plastic insert one leaves the possibility of water getting between it and the bed causing corrosion.
i got a plastic factory toyota bedliner in an 05 tundra its still in good shape and works
Hell Ya lets see that Trip ..! That Looks Amazing
2013 Toyota tundra crew max rock warriors edition hitting 300k and zero issues plus runs like new. Reliability at its finest.
i absolutely love my 2019 platinum tundra, i did alot to it. dropped another 15-20k into it. like it way more than my 2014 z71 or dodge hemi. both were a major let down after being stuck in shitty situations, i decided reliability was the most important thing to me
Taco fan boy here.
1000% would love to see the video.
Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely, please post a video of your epic road trip!
I bought. 2021 new in November 2021 last tundra made with v8..I added a 1000 dollars trans cooler upgrade
This is my RV tow vehicle
Stay tuned.
I enjoy the detailed, yet conservatiinal manner when discussing the Tundra’s attributes.
Let’s get the footage up of the trip!
In a perfect world, Toyota gave us the 5.7 8speed from the lx570 in the next gen 2022.. great review TK!
Back in 2007, steve was chasing girls in high school 🤣🤣 nice burn Dad
Gotta keep him humble - Dad
Plot twist... Steve was 26 in 2007
Thank you, I’m glad you did a review on the strength of the Toyota tundra. Keep up the great videos!
I totally agree I have a 17 year model1794 edition and I feel that truck has excellent build quality.
Meanwhile I have a 2011 Tundra base truck and I look at the interior of that one and think it is a space ship. I love my great big buttons and not having to hunt for anything in any menu.
I have an old dog 2000 Tundra bought it brand new 22 yrs ago still driving it today. When it ever croaks on me I will get another.
Great job guys Well presented.
I just bought this truck, it’s getting delivered soon. I can’t wait to see it and drive it
Old doesn't bother me, however, there's a few creature comforts I'd like to see added, like a retractable bed step and lighting.
That trip was awesome. I love your video's...thank you so much! I think you guy's got brass balls doing these cool reviews. keep up the great stuff!
Thanks for watching!
That Tundra has a 4.30:1 rear axle ratio. So it’s even more aggressive that the 4.10:1 he said it had.
I would also like to see footage of the tundra trip.
Just picked up a 2021 1794 4x4 because I didn't want too much tech. It's really getting out of hand. Been driving Ford's my whole life, and haven't been happier! Thank God no auto start/stop
Id love to see that Tundra footage
Definitely want to see the Tundra footage! Thanks for the video!
I would love to see your dad trip!
Old doesn’t mean bad. I traded my 17 titan xd diesel for a 2021 tundra TSS package. Love this truck.
PLEASE put the trip video up!!
Love it.
Of course we want to see the trip footage!
I have a 2016 1794 and I would very much enjoy watching that footage of my truck!!
