Yes, the Limited version gets a bit different transfer case, but the Off-Road version, come on. My other point is, If you follow the books how to brake in a new truck/car, TFL did absolutely the opposite what it should be done. This truck is going to be a collectors piece. The last V8 from Toyota. You would be a complete fool to get rid of it for the umpteenth time. When you’re at the proper age of retirement and driving all electric vehicles, you’ll look back in your garage at this, and it will be worth a pretty penny. Lastly, if you haven’t driven a supercharged tundra especially, at your altitude in the mountains, you are missing out. Best modification I’ve ever done.
I have the same truck, I test drove a 24’ pro, it was a nice truck too but it didn’t offer enough of an improvement in any area for we to buy it. In fact, after driving both back to back, I can honestly say I enjoy the 21 more. Much better turn radius, real engine and exhaust sound, and has plenty enough power to do everything I want and some. I haven’t had a single issue with mine in 3 years of ownership. For me it’s very likely this will be my forever truck.
It's November 2024 and I'm here searching RUclips for videos on this Tundra which is, to this day, the best truck to buy. I'm on the market and I refuse to buy the new model.

Very good looking truck 👍🏻
I love this video. No matter how long you keep this one. Your previous videos of this truck were a big part of my deciding to upgrade to this Tundra TRD Pro from my old 4Runner. I was going to place an order, however Toyota stopped production to move to the new V6 and I just happened to luck into a new 21 Lunar Rock TRD Pro (one of only two available in my state) at that time. 10,686 miles later KBB puts the trade in value at 52k with my original options. But I love this truck and plan to keep it. Thank you for your channel and sharing all the information you do.
Thanks brother! 🙏🏼 Appreciate that kind feedback. Glad I was able to help you in your decision to buy this amazing truck. There’s nothing quite like it imo. 👌

I have a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro and I was lucky to get it new in 2021 for 56K. I love driving it. Best truck I've ever owned. I'll be keeping mine for many years to come. 🤠
I imagine these vehicles are going to really hold their value especially if the new 2024 platform doesn’t pass the test of time. That is a beautiful truck 🛻
I just bought a 2021 Tundra SR5 with 28,000 mi on it. I'm so glad you made this purchase, and I really do hope you don't get rid of this one. There is still a lot of content for modifications on these trucks platforms to entertain us lol I am modifying my truck heavily, and would like to talk to you about some of the modifications I am planning on making to mine.
For those that do not know the best year for the Toyota tundra in my opinion is the 2018 year. It has the updated gauge cluster and also has the transmission cooler which was dropped in 2019 and above.
Wrong. 20 it’s the best year as it’s the first year with CarPlay and the large touchscreen plus dual climate control. Much easier to add a proper transmission cooler with radiator then the accouterments in the center consul.
Just glad you and Mrs. Untamed are back on team Toyota/ Lexus. I just traded in my 18 Pro Tacoma for a new Lexus nx300. But just before that I bought a Daihatsu Hijet Kei truck so I thought I didn't need two trucks..If we wanna go offroad my Ms has a 16 4runner. And for Sunday afternoons I have an 18 Yaris with a bunch of Trd junk on it. Low slow and a blast to drive. I started watching your channel for the Toyota content.
I've seen this same truck (same color) for sale with no modifications for the same price you paid with far more miles. So no, you definitely did not overpay. You essentially got a new truck with such low miles!! This is an amazing truck. One of the best ever made and one that I too hope to own very soon. Congratulations!!

Interior is easy to clean and durable. Perfect for a family man. I like that slide out tray from decked. I think it would be cool to pull the decked drawers out and drop the tray to the bed so you could get luggage and dogs back there.
Here's the mod's i'd recommend (cuz this is what i'm doing to my 2020). 35" all terrains. cali raised rock sliders. retrax pro bed cover. bed rug. morimoto led lights front and rear. prinsu rack. Front and rear ironman raid steel bumpers. RCI skid plate full length. method wheels. subwoofer. husky rubber floor liners.
I wouldn’t have done it. But if you’re happy, then I’m happy for you. The traveling to get it is part of the appreciation. The price doesn’t really matter too much here. So don’t sweat it too much.
It’s definitely a keeper Untamed. Hold on to it 👍🏼. I live in ID and hands down the best tires for snow and ice are the Falcon Wild peaks. Designed for severe snow conditions, every A/T3W tire is qualified by USTMA and TRAC for the Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake
I think you should super charge it and then keep it forever. It’s my absolute dream truck. Especially with the canopy. If you EVER get rid of this truck again, you are absolutely batshit crazy.
It's a toss up - I bought a 15 Tundra SR5 Trd Offroad 4x4 Doublecab 2.5 years ago for 30K It had 109K one owner, has ARE Z series bedcap and came with heated/ventilated aftermarket Katzkin leather seats. I've pretty much made it better than a TRD Pro - TRD Pro grill/ 2021 black LED headlight assemblies, Morimoto LED turn signals, full Bedrug with Rago mounts, Rhino Rack Pioneer roof rack, TRD Pro exhaust, Method 706 Beadgrip wheels in Bronze, Ironman4x4 Foam Cell Pro suspension lift, RAGO dash mount with USB ports, AJT blacked out controls, Dashmat (best thing ever, really reduces glare and protects dash) LED interior - so I'm probably in it 36-37K and it's virtually the same truck up to 2021. That's what I did, because I couldn't warrant a 60K truck and still have money to mess with it. Yours has a lot of upgrades too, so 58K with hardly any miles is really not a bad deal. I just wanted to enjoy picking my upgrades and doing a little at a time. Plus, no matter what I do to mine, a TRD Pro associated with the VIN# will always hold their value more than an SR5 TRD Offroad LOL
I have a 2017 TRD Pro Tundra CrewMax in Cement color. Love everything about it but the gas mileage. I do like the next Gen TRD Pro however not enough to trade in my 2017 for one. Mine is paid for, not sure if I wanna finance 70K. lol. Nice video and truck Sir. 👍👊🏼
I just purchased a '21 Toyota Tundra, and I absolutely love it. It's not a TRD Pro, but it's a beast. It had 11,800mi, for $42,00. In what state did you find your Tundra? I'm in Texas, in the Houston area. The truck I had before this one was a '14 f150 super crew, and when ford starts breaking down, there is nothing you can do to stop it, even if you take great care of it.
I love that generation of Tundra’s! I currently own a 2018 Tundra Limited in the cement gray with the TRD off-road package. I would like to have a 2020 1794 in Army Green with the Trd off-road package.
It kills me that you had this brand new once and now you're in a pre-owned 😂. Nothing wrong with that but something about being the first owner of an awesome vehicle. I say this as a 2nd owner for my 19' TRD Sport Tacoma. Love the thing to death but would have been nice to have it brand new 😅
It was because of you that I bought this same truck in October 2021. I love the idea of the topper, but I’m still not 100% sold on the look. Also has a bit of a drawback that I usually use my truck a few times a year to haul wood and I like being able to throw it into the bed. What are your thoughts on the look?
@@UntamedMotors I get the reliability but the new gen is faster, handles way better and the tech is amazing. The 14" screen is worth switching to the new gen...
Great video in the whole scheme of things. No, you did not pay too much I mean seriously for that same truck in a 2024 model. You're paying nearly 80,000 and for what a bucket of plastic and all kinds of problems. And also it doesn't matter how many times you've bought the same model in the past. Good for you. Keep up the good work
I’m over all these new trucks. Every manufacture is having serious issues... Later this year I will also be going back to a 2020 or 2021 Tundra. I miss the V8 and honestly I miss just changing my oil and rotating my tires and that’s it! I’ve own 3 tundra’s and they’ve been great. I feel like you made a great decision 👊🏻
I do not know if you overpaid for the truck or not, but I completely understand why you have circled back and bought the 2nd gen Tundra again (in your case the TRD Pro). I have a 21 Tundra Limited CrewMax TRD-Off Road, and I absolutely love the truck, and I cannot think for any truck right now that is on sale that I would prefer it over the 2nd gen Tundra. Yes, the 1/2 ton trucks from Big 3 have tons of features and the ride comfort and fuel economy is amazing, but the reliability is like a hitting the lottery - you are either lucky or not lucky. I want a reliable, simple and honest truck that does not cost an arm and a leg. The 3rd gen Tundra has a peppier engine and it is still a very solid truck, but I hate the exterior look. I could not get used to it even after 3 years; I simply hate it. The only time I like one is if it is in white color, Platinum or 1794, but those trucks cost a lot. I rather have a Ford F150 Raptor than the 3rd gen Tundra if the money was not the issue.
great truck…great find. 58k is not that much to spend, considering all of your afore mentioned points - - basic/reliable power train, low miles, the 4x4 & mod utility, plus is a civilized family hauler/mall crawler. one question for ya’…what mpg’s are you getting city/ hgwy/combined & does the next gen Tundra & all of its fussy power train tweeks really boost those mpg ratings over your 21’s #’s?

I was going to place an order, however Toyota stopped production to move to the new V6 and I just happened to luck into a new 21 Lunar Rock TRD Pro (one of only two available in my state) at that time. 10,686 miles later KBB puts the trade in value at 52k with my original options. But I love this truck and plan to keep it. Thank you for your channel and sharing all the information you do.
Thanks brother! 🙏🏼
Appreciate that kind feedback. Glad I was able to help you in your decision to buy this amazing truck. There’s nothing quite like it imo. 👌
You are the best youtuber dont forget this not just good i dont get bored never get bored talk about this truck 5.7 lier tundra
Thanks brother. Really appreciate that. =]
I don't see it as long in the tooth at all! This is why we are here! Appreciate your perspective, love these trucks!
Maybe I missed it, but the USBs in the back......aftermarket? Or came from the dealership that way?
@@OfficialAing I believe those are aftermarket too 👍 I’ll confirm.
Thanks brother. Always appreciate your continued support and positivity. =]
@@OfficialAingI think Toyota put those there for 2021 only if I'm not mistaken
@@chrisdrives8204 If you are right that’s crazy! I had no idea, I’m gonna have to do research now!
Your truck looks great and I think you scored on it. You're not gonna find many like that anymore. Congratulations and I hope you keep it for a long time. I have a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro and I was lucky to get it new in 2021 for 56K. I love driving it. Best truck I've ever owned. I'll be keeping mine for many years to come. 🤠
Thanks Chris, I’m definitely super pleased with this truck. Very grateful to have been able to swoop it up. =] No other truck quite like it. 👌
I do the one tone tint on my vehicles as well. Looks so much cleaner. Congrats! Glad to see you back in a Tundra.
Thanks Miguel! Feels good to be back! Feels “right” =]
I imagine these vehicles are going to really hold their value especially if the new 2024 platform doesn’t pass the test of time. That is a beautiful truck 🛻
Thank you! I think so too… new ones are priced to oblivion too.
I just bought a 2021 Tundra SR5 with 28,000 mi on it. I'm so glad you made this purchase, and I really do hope you don't get rid of this one. There is still a lot of content for modifications on these trucks platforms to entertain us lol
I am modifying my truck heavily, and would like to talk to you about some of the modifications I am planning on making to mine.
Nice! Congrats man. I’ll keep putting out content on it. It’s my favorite truck… love to share my adventures with it. =]
I own a 2020 Platinum 110k miles and have never had a hiccup. Tried and true and don’t think I will ever get rid of it.
Thanks for the support, Ryan. Feels good to be back! =]
It's the Truck.. it's the only truck I would consider at this point. I decided to go with a 21 GX460 and I don't regret it.
You bought an amazing suv. A bulletproof platform that shares many similarities to the Tundra here. 👌 💯
I've seen this same truck (same color) for sale with no modifications for the same price you paid with far more miles. So no, you definitely did not overpay. You essentially got a new truck with such low miles!! This is an amazing truck. One of the best ever made and one that I too hope to own very soon. Congratulations!!
Wow that’s great to hear, thanks man! 🙏🏼
I just bought a 2021Tundra TRD OffRoad and I love it. I was definitely influenced by RUclipsrs like you.
Awesome man! Congrats! 🙌
I’m biased too! I have the same truck with 23K on it! It’s a rock solid no worries truck. Good luck with the ‘new’ truck; hope to see it often on your channel!
You Sir, have great taste! 👌 💯
Thank you, I’m very grateful to have been able to swoop this one up. =]
I just got my first Toyota ever, I traded my gladiator in for a 2021 Tundra trd amazing trucks. I’m super stoked for overland camping adventures and the insane amount of room!
I have a 2021 SR5 4x4. Like you, I intend to make it my forever truck. Thank you for the video as it's given me ideas for some tasteful modifications.
Dad life is the best!
Amen to that! 🙏🏼
It's a great looking truck. The topper looks awesome, too. Don't let this one get away!
I’m going to seriously try to keep this one! =]
Welcome back to greatness!
Haha thanks brother 🙏🏼
Feels great to be back!
Just found your channel and love your content so far. I just got my very 1st Toyota product being a 2023 Platinum Tundra, I know that it's not your favorite body style haha. Love this truck and all of the extras that came with it, keep up the great work.
Thanks brother! I appreciate you tuning into some of my videos! 🙏🏼 Congrats on your 23 platinum. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the new Tundra haha.
Absolutely love this truck and miss my 2021 magnetic gray TRD Pro!
There’s no truck quite like this one anymore… love it! You plan on snagging another?
@@UntamedMotors If I can find the right one, I very well might. I traded my last one in for a 2024 AT4X AEV last month. If I can find an Army green TRD Pro, I just might snag it!
Yeah right. I’m surprised it’s lasted even this long.
I would have bought that for $58,000 I got a 21 mgm crew cab with some accessories 2 years ago and it had 6,000 miles on it I paid sticker price. Because this is going to be my forever truck and I wanted this platform and of course that V8 Great choice great choice Love the channel keep it up.
Thanks brother 🙏🏼
No better truck to keep ahold of. Sounds like you got a solid deal on yours -especially during the pandemic price gouging era 👌
With all those accessories and that mileage you got a great buy I forgot to mention mine was a platinum as well with rims tires tonneau cover LED lighting inside keeping it forever Love you channel keep it up fellow vet here Navy and Air Force@@UntamedMotors
Interior is easy to clean and durable. Perfect for a family man. I like that slide out tray from decked. I think it would be cool to pull the decked drawers out and drop the tray to the bed so you could get luggage and dogs back there.
I agree! Love the simplicity in and out. =]
Of all the tires you mentioned, KO2's are the only tires I'll trust wheeling in Death Valley's triple digit summer heat.
KO2s are exceptional. Such a tough, capable tire 👌
That is a sweet truck. Enjoy it... we dont mind the repeat builds because we all love the Yotas.
I challenge you to keep this truck. Let this be the staple in your garage/driveway that your kids grow up to cherish.
I’m seriously going to try hard this time. 👌 I know I won’t find another like it ever again.
Love my 2021 TRD off road. My second one previous was a 2010). Keeping it as long as possible.
13:30 the first Untamed Motors video that I ever watched! Cheers man
Thanks for being an OG Supporter! 🙏🏼
There's about 10k in modifications. Great purchase.
Thanks brother! Super pleased with it. =]
Hi! I know this isn’t a part of your channel brand, but would you ever consider doing a video on your braces and your orthodontic treatment?
Outstanding choice Sir 💪 I have the same Tundra never getting rid of mine got 15k miles I’m still in love with it 👊
Thanks man! 🙏🏼 No other truck quite like it these days. =] love it
The class act of Tundra.
🙌 Agreed. Love how simplistic and raw this platform is. It’s perfect. Now if I could just keep ahold of this one… 🤔
Here's the mod's i'd recommend (cuz this is what i'm doing to my 2020). 35" all terrains. cali raised rock sliders. retrax pro bed cover. bed rug. morimoto led lights front and rear. prinsu rack. Front and rear ironman raid steel bumpers. RCI skid plate full length. method wheels. subwoofer. husky rubber floor liners.
Solid recommendations 👌 💯
I wouldn’t have done it. But if you’re happy, then I’m happy for you. The traveling to get it is part of the appreciation. The price doesn’t really matter too much here. So don’t sweat it too much.
Best truck in the best color aside from the 21 4R Pro lunar Back to the basics. LR brothers!
Amen to that! Super happy to have gotten this. =]
My 18’ cav blue DC payment hurts every month but got it at a good time , only 2 years left. I know what it’s for, keeping a gem long term.
Least you know it’ll never break down on you. 👌
My favorite buy you you have made in years. Nice work. If you ever want to sell it, please let me know.
Thanks brother. 🙏🏼
I’ll definitely keep you in mind.
I would LOVE to own this truck. Keep it forever.
I’m going to seriously try this go around! 🤞🏻
Thanks brother! I’m seriously going to try to keep ahold of this one. I’ve only heard great things about out those Wildpeaks 👌
I think you should super charge it and then keep it forever. It’s my absolute dream truck. Especially with the canopy. If you EVER get rid of this truck again, you are absolutely batshit crazy.
Haha I’m going to do my best to keep ahold of this one. =]
Supercharging it would be awesome! 👌
If I could have afford it. I would have done the same. Some excellent modifications.
I’ll take 2021 over a 2024 any day. I have a 17 and there’s no way I’d trade it for a new one.
Nice truck. Congratulations!
Thanks a ton, Bret! Super grateful to have swooped this one up. =]
It is very beautiful and reliable, the only criticism would be the MPG‘s.
Love this generation of Tundra, same as my 2019, love that color.
Yeah the best type of truck is a paid off truck
Bro you can make a video about the same truck tomorrow and I’ll watch it. Tundras are the best no doubt
Haha thanks brother 🙏🏼 I know a group of us exist out there =]
You could also do a hitch mount for any motorcycle that you would want. Love the truck. I've been looking to sell my 2018 Colorado ZR2 for a Tundra.
I prefer this over the new Tundra. The new Tundra looks nice, but this older generation Tundra looks truly heavy duty, durable, proven and reliable.
I traded my 2017 tundra sr5 for a 2024 limited. Definitely worth the upgrade. Don't miss the old model at all
21 Tundra TRD pro (lunar rock) owner here! I just hit the 11k mile mark (secondary vehicle) 😅. Cheers! 🍻
Nice! Still a ways to go on the break in. =]
Love this truck!
I know you are going for that legendary V8 😂
Haha heck yeah man. There’s nothing quite like this 5.7 now days 👌
Still want the lunar rock 4Runner to match on your channel. Definitely my fav combo. Voodoo blue was good too.
Haha I loved that combo too 👌
I just purchased a '21 Toyota Tundra, and I absolutely love it.
Nice man! Congrats! I bought mine out of SC. It’s the perfect truck all around in my opinion. Sounds like you scored a great deal too! 👍
Love the thing to death but would have been nice to have it brand new 😅
Haha yeah I hear you man. That bothers me a little too… buuuut the $8-10K in mods and low miles helps me justify the decision here.
My forever truck is my 2021 Tundra SR5. I love this truck!
5290 Miles!! nice find.
Thanks brother! Super happy with it. =]
It was because of you that I bought this same truck in October 2021. I love the idea of the topper, but I’m still not 100% sold on the look. Also has a bit of a drawback that I usually use my truck a few times a year to haul wood and I like being able to throw it into the bed. What are your thoughts on the look?
I don’t love the topper look but it’s a nice change and I can see the value in functionality. 👌
Ready to buy ✋
have had three in that gen and will never go back after now owning the new-gen
I’m the opposite, I’ll never go back to that new one. 🤷♂️ different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Keep up the good work
I love your truck…I have been looking for one and so far haven’t find one yet…
Keep searching! You’ll find one. I just shared a solid example on my IG story.
How do you like the topper vs not having one. I’ve always had the tonneau cover. Definitely been considering a topper with a pullout tray.
I can’t give an honest assessment of that yet. I’m used to having an open bed for sure… so this is new to me. But I think I’ll really like it.
Great vid. I have a 2020 Tundra Limited. I love it. I'm not trading that in for the new Tundra, but it still like the new Tundra.
Great review. Now I need to search KSL for one. Would love to trade my 19 Sierra Denali 6.2 to be done with the big 3.
Do it! Just shared a great example on my IG. 👍
This is the best one to buy, the new gen will not last.
Carvana stock is up almost 50% since he said the used market is going to crash (apparently in April). Even his beloved Carmax is up.
