Very interesting. It's true that recent events have affected our nervous systems, but it has been increasing in line with technological advances bringing everything into real time (computers, smartphones, etc.). They should teach yoga and breathing, meditation, and healthy eating at school.
Yes I agree that our lifestyle now has increased stress. It would be amazing if more schools incorporated ways to help children understand their own nervous system and ways to regulate.
Thank you for this. I'm in a constant state of economic trauma, as the corporate oligarchs continue to wage economic warfare on the poor and working class, for their greed is insatiable, and the standard of living will continue to decline for everyone who isn't part of their club. I'm not so sure we should get too comfortable with this situation..but it does get too much at times. The Wim Hof breathing technique really helps me. It stimulates the sympathetic system briefly, which when it's done seems to put one in that ventral vagal tone. But I'm just a practitioner, not an expert. From my understanding, you need BRIEF periods of stress, but not chronic. Connecting with nature (grounding or earthing) helps me a lot. It's hard, though, when you never know how you're going to survive this economic warfare. Don't doubt that's what it is. I'm disabled and on a fixed income, like many, and we're getting killed by this inflation. They raised my rent by $100 a month!! They wanted to raise it by $200 a month!! Ladt year they raised it by $20 a month. So, they wanted to levy a comparative 1000% increase, but settled for only a 500% increase. Wishing all a nice day.
Thank you for your comments. Yes it is true that we want to titrate between stress and regulation. This is how we heal our nervous system! It is a difficult time for so many people right now! I wish you well and great to hear you are doing Wim Hof and using grounding and nature as a way to Nourish and Regulate your Nervous System. Warmly, Melissa
@@melissabrown5816 Ah, that's very sweet of you to take time to reply!! Thank you!! Yes, the grounding and Wim Hof breathing are the two most effective techniques I've discovered for dealing with stress. I do some tapping techniques I learned from Dr. Alan Mandell (motivationaldoc is the channel), some yoga, and sometimes auricular stimulation of the vagus nerve. Polyvagal theory is a subject I find fascinating and would love to learn more. Peace and love to you!! Sincerely, Alan.
As a long-time massage therapist (now retired), I’d say the best way to feel your psoas muscle is to bridge up into a backbend. If it feels intense behind your hip bones / underneath your abs, your psoas is tight.
Fantastic discussion and a great subject. Some years ago I undertook Mentalisation Based (Art) psychotherapy. I see many parallels here. I like the analogy of the guitar strings.
Maybe, instead of trying to adapt to the increasing stresses in this insane society, it´d be wiser to change the underlying causes and creating a society where we can all thrive. It´s about moving away from the "story of separation" to the "story of interconnectedness/Interbeing" as Charles Eisenstein so elaborately talks about.
Yes I agree. That is my Vision as well. To get there though we need to heal our own root causes. I believe that when we heal the world heals as well. Many people are starting to wake up to their nervous system and how their patterns affect their life. Thank you for your reflection!
Thank you, Tami Simon, for constantly sending us fresh, new information that Always sounds true

If only they taught it in schools. Sigh
