Not only are the lions doing well, both the Browns and the Lions have 10+ wins in the same season for the first time since 1953, the same year the Korean war ended
If there's any justice in the world, the Lions and Browns both go deep in the Playoffs! I'm not sure about the Lions, but besides bad luck (two losses to Denver), the Browns have been saddled with bad ownership and management, making a complete circus of the draft and coaching decisions.
I could have told you that before the Lions got him. I've been a Patriots fan since 94 and I knew Quin and Patricia were going to make the Lions worse. Belichicks whole tree is an environmental disaster. Our defense under Patricia sucked. They never got pressure and made every opposing QB look like a pro bowler. What saved us was Brady and his ability to get points in the 2 minute drill and then on the opening drive of the second half orchestrating long sustained scoring drives. It's why we always deferred kickoffs. It caused us to double points on our opponents while resting our own defense, tiring out the opponents defense and keeping the opposing offense off the field for a long time which disrupted their rhythm. Brady was the dynasty. You saw with your own eyes what Belichicks philosophy and coaching looks like without Brady. A disaster.
Exactly! Patricia had no respect for the Lions as an organization! No respect for his job! No respect for the players! And ABSOLUTELY no respect for the fans or the press!!! He was arrogant and self serving and power hungry!! Him and Quinn both!!! I was SO happy in mid 2020 when Sheila sent his sorry ass packing!!!
Jimmy Schwartz! What a G. That Lions team was fun to watch. Thanks to him fixing my Browns defense too. Cheers to you Detroit! Couldnt be happier for you
I remember sitting in front of my tv watching the playoff game against Dallas and when they announced the foul was overturned, my heart sunk. Back then, even with Stafford, you knew that we always lost the game in the second half. Me and my brothers used to make jokes about, “the Lions would be 14-2 if every game ended at the second quarter”. These Lions though, what Dan Campbell has embodied as, “Grit”. These Lions have grit. They play hard and physical. They can beat you in about 5 different ways every play. Hope has returned to Detroit sports and after years of dissatisfaction, hope has returned to the Detroit Lions.
I was born in 93 and it’s still shocking to feel the way I feel, knowing what we’ve endured since I was a sparkle in my dad’s eye. We’re so used to something bad happening with this team, it almost feels unreal. But hey, this is what was destined to be. Congratulations to my Cartier Cats
Born in 94 we been thru it all 😅 even that 08 year . Knowing that they weren't going to make the playoffs just wanting them to win a game at least lol ended up going 0-16 . But we came a long way!!!
I love the Lions and I am not even from there, and never been there. Their road reminds me a lot of the Bengals, and their journey. I live 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and follow the Bengals. I am a Oregon Duck fan always since 99, but love the NFL. The lions and what Dan Campbell have done is incredible and I think the nation just loves them. I have Goff on my fantasy football team so I have a vested interest following them. Great job Lions!
Excellent video showing the fall to the rise of the 2023. i have been a fan of this organization since 1976, when i was 6 yrs old. Seen the good, the bad, and the thoughts of grandeur. This is the only team I can say I believe in to get that next check mark of a playoff victory. Superbowl if they can but damn just a play off victory and a chance to go to the NFC championship again. I was at the Silverdome when Green Bays Sterling Sharp caught that wide open pass from Farve, nothing against them it was an excellent play and execution, but that shit hurt hard. LETS GO LIONS! Dan Campbell being on that 0-16 team he knows the hurt of this franchise, when he was brought in as HC I was like cool an ex-player coach that was here in the bad days he knows this city and how it needs this. I would like to think Im right in that.
Been a fan since BARRY got drafted in 89, been to every home game since, I'm over joyed to see this happen and I'm 35 years old, unfortunately my Dad has passed away and he didn't get to see this history with me, this means a lot to me that he can see it in heaven and in my heart as well
OH GOD, why why why did you post this? I was a season ticket holder from 1998- 2012. Born in 1968, I've been a fan since I was 10 years old! When I turned 30 I said "They will win a Super Bowl before I'm 50..... I'M FIFTY-FIVE NOW! Being a LIONS fan is an endurance test. I just need them to win a SB before I'm too old to enjoy it. Good season this year though.

As a Bills fan I can certainly relate to the prolonged misery you guys endured, but it only makes this so much sweeter. Enjoy every second of having one of the top teams. I'm very happy for the Lions fans. You deserve a winner and now you got one
Winning the NFC North Division means so much to us all! After having the Division in our grasp 4 times in 10 years and 3 times, we failed to get the job done. The 4th time is the charm!!! Now we're reaching for the stars and going for it all!!! GO LIONS ROARRRRR!!!!!!
I was born on January 24th, 1996. I never grew up watching the Barry Sanders era so I can’t really say much about that era other then what I read and watched. The Matt Millen era from 2001-2008, I can’t really say anything much about that era either because my family and I were living in the Middle East at the time. Well technically, I moved back here in the summer of 07 so I technically was here for that 7-9 season in 07 and the 0-16 season in 2008, but I wasn’t really into football at that time. I didn’t really start watching until Matt Staffords rookie year, so the only era’s I really watched were the Stafford era when we had Jim Schwartz/Martin Mayhew, Jim Caldwell/Martin Mayhew and Bob Quinn, and Bob Quinn/Matt Patricia and then this era with Brad Holmes/Dan Campbell. Jim Schwartz, I cut him some slack because that dude had to help rebuild the team from the 0-16 Matt Millen shit show of 2001-2008. Martin Mayhew during Jim Schwartz coaching tenure had to rebuild that team. The roster really didn’t materialize until Jim Caldwell became the head coach. I could probably argue that the lions weren’t patient with Schwartz at all but that’s here nor there. Then you get to Caldwell in which he’s a lions coach for 4 seasons (2014-2017) in which 2 of them we went into the playoffs. 2014: 11-5 and lose to in the Wild card playoffs to the cowboys in a very gut wrenching heart-breaking game. Oh yeah, let me give you a stat on this season. While I’m writing this comment, I looked up the list of seasons for Detroit of when was the last time we won more then 10 games on Wikipedia. Do you know when that was folks. That was in 1991 when we won the division and before that 1962. 2015: 7-9: Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand get fired here in the middle of that season, which is just beyond me. I understand the poor start but you have to have patience here. 2016: 9-7 and lose in the wild card playoffs to the Seahawks. Before that season began, they hired Bob Quinn. 2017: 9-7: Bob Quinn after season said that 9-7 is not good enough but yet instead of adding to the pieces onto the foundation that Martin Mayhew set he instead precedes to tear down the roster while hiring a coach in Matt Patricia that couldn’t get along with the players at all. He and Matt Patricia basically tore down all of the hard work that Jim Schwartz, Jim Caldwell, and Martin Mayhew did. Well we can complain all day but it’s time for a new chapter. Let’s go lions.
Even though the Lions may have fallen short in the NFC Championship game against the 49ers, the 2023 season is just the beginning of more success to come forward for them. They are going to have something to build off of from this season.
So of everything I've learned from this team's history it is mostly the Owners, Front Office, and higher ups that have held Detroit from success, that looks to have shifted in the MCDC era and let us hope this group keeps it together and communicates with each other. The Detroit Lions Tragedy is a cautionary tale of people in power not listening to their people.
Congrats Lions fans from a lifelong Packers fan. You guys deserve it and your players earned the division. We all admire Coach Campbell. Hope we see you in the postseason.
As a Eagles fan I might fuck around and shed a tear my damn self if you win it all....alot of us are pullin for you guys over here big time bro, alot of our fans are really harsh but we're not all like that and with that said I pray that you guys get to experience that feeling bro, you got one HELL of a coach and a damn good roster....GO FUCKIN GET IT DETROIT!!!!....GO GET IT!!!!!!
Once I saw Dan Campbell speech I knew, right then he was right head coach. I'm so proud of my lions. Somethin tellin me we will be playing in the SB 58 even doe it rigged somethin tellin me lions will play best football this comin up Sunday go lions
This video reminded me that it’s always darkest before the dawn. The Quinntricia era specifically made me want to scream and rip my hair out, but I couldn’t be happier with where we are now!
I feel like people get on Calvin Johnson and Berry Sanders for retiring early but that was like 10-20 years before the idea of "mental health" was even a thing. Happy to see both of them around now when the Lions are at the peak of their game. They are legends.
I remember how hyped I was initially listening to MCDCs opening speech and despite some of the crazy things he said, he looked like he was both serious about it and fully believed he would make this team different. Looking back at the speech now hits even harder because we've come to love that fire in him as well as Brad Holmes. They attacked our teams greatest weakness for years which was realizing integrity without 'grit' is just intey which isn't a word. I don't know how the rest of the playoffs will go this postseason for us, but he's given me hope that we have left a culture riddled with despair and quick fixes in the past. Having optimism for the future of this franchise is such an incredible gift to Lions fans. Love these guys, one Pride baby.
The beautiful part of this video is that the Lions won a playoff game and could very well make a run for a Super Bowl. The sad news is we’re in the same exact pit with the Pistons right now.
Great video. Adding the exorcism of the Bobby Lane curse, Shelia Hamp’s comment of “I believe in this leadership.” , and the spoiler game over GB to end Roger’s career at GB would be awesome.
Gen X thinking Lions history begins in 1993, thus forgetting 0-5 to the Cowboys in 1970, Rigid Rick Forzano, Doug English walking off the team, the Silver Rush and Another One Bites the Dust.
I probably could have added the years of 1957-1992 but I feel like it wouldn't make sense for the theme of the video I was going for because the concept is to show what Lions Fans have been through in between Division Titles and not so much the overall history of the team
Oh I get it and having watched it the worst time was the mid aughts. But no Lion retrospective would be complete without Russ Thomas and his players-spiteful approach in the seventies.
@fredbobberts5753 bro you know what sucks? I scoured RUclips for Russ Thomas stuff and there is nothing on him because I know the significance of his effect on the Lions because he was practically Matt Millen but was like the GM for 20 years
Trading Quandre Diggs and Darius slay to Seattle/Philly for peanuts because they called Patricia disgusting ass out was one of the most Egotistical fireable offenses of all time smh
I been a fan for 38 years its been a long time since I seen the lions this good. Got to give a shot out to chris and sheila they both hired dan and brad so im super happy. Let's go lions
Fans loved Stafford because of the fight within him. During the Atlanta game, Caldwell just accepted it. You say it wouldn’t have done anything, but maybe the refs rethink things. Maybe the Lions don’t always get screwed.
Lifelong lions fan here after winning the 2024 divisional round: amazing video that details what went wrong and the frustration, emotion of a lions fan over the past 30 years. Dan. Sheila and Brad have brought this team back!!
The NFC was cursed as shit during those play offs. Lions get a call rescinded against the Cowboys, then Dallas gets screwed over by a catch being overturned in Green Bay, then the Packers blow it against the Seahawks only for Russel Wilson to get his pass at the 1 yard line get picked off to lose the super bowl.
As a Bears fan, I'm happy for the lions. I was born in 2003 and had to wait 20 years of my life to see the lions win the NFC North for the first time in 30 years.
I have been a Lions fan since 1995. I picked them when I was a child and have been one for almost 30 years. My mother said that Matt Millen set the Lions back about 15 years and she was right. But...we are emerging past it and we are a better team. The Lions are America's team!
Been a fan since 1996, I fell in love watching Barry run at the tender age of 7 or 8yrs old..been through it all, I thoroughly enjoy seeing all we've been through to get where we are now. The struggle is what will make a SB even sweeter now..something about failing and failing and failing, but when you finally succeed...oh boy.
I remember the WC loss to the Cowboys. I was working at a Coney Island with my coworkers and it was slow enough to watch the game since we had TVs there. I'm celebrating and losing my mind in the first half and the few customers there were laughing and enjoying the game and me celebrating with my equally excited coworker. She loved football too! Only to be destroyed by such a soul crushing loss! But thats in the rear view mirror now. I realized we needed that to happen in order to get an amazing GM with all of that college scouting talent and an equally amazing HC! Let's kick some Cowgirl ass tmrw to make up for that loss from years ago! LFG Lions!!
It’s crazy to think how high the expectations were for Matt Patricia coming in as coach. Such a disappointing and depressing time to root for this team. So grateful for the new regime today!!
Man, being born in 1977 I’ve been watching Lions football since I was a little kid. Even when I moved to Florida over 20 years ago, I stayed a Lions fan first. I eventually became a fan of the Buccaneers living in Tampa so long time but always rooted for Lions first, in fact, went to all Lions home games in Tampa sporting Lions gear. I tried so hard to just push myself to NOT be a fan of the Lions thru all the heartache shown in this video (man, it’s hard to believe this went on for so long and doesn’t seem like that long cause life just flies by, year after year after year). I just couldn’t stop being a Lions fan, my childhood team would end up always being in the forefront even though I picked up another team fandom, that had some glaring similiartites as an organization as the Lions but also starkly different as the Buccaneers had a been and won a Super Bowl the same year I. Over to Florida than most recently in 2020 with TB12. So amazing to see them seemingly turn the page and my biggest hope is that regardless of the outcome in this playoff run, they turn into a consistent winner and well respected franchise, for the long haul. Even though I tried to jump ship and just couldn’t due to my childhood memories, I’m so glad I have remained true blue, Go Lions!!
I have never been a Lions fan, but I’m thrilled to see them get this far. They need to cross not playing in the Super Bowl off their list this season. 👍🏻
One of my earliest memories is my grandmother telling me to “Be good because Barry’s watching” and pointing to a Barry poster that hung above the Barbie dream house in the playroom. She loved the lions through and through and it breaks my heart knowing she passed before their comeback. She was the embodiment of unconditional love and that’s what you need to be a lions fan.
The way this season has gone i will be able to finally buy a Jersey if we win a home playoff game this year. have not had any lions swag since 1972 when I was 4 years old. Thank you Shelia,Brad and Dan getting rid of my 50 year headache
Be me who fell in love with the team after the 0-16 team in 2008-09. It will hurt if we don't make it to the Super Bowl but on the bright side, we can finally celebrate the title.
Nothing good and worthwhile comes easy. But with patience and perseverance, outcomes are always favorable. Glad I got to witness this in my lifetime. Congratulations. Go Lions!! 🦁
Great video man. Took me through all the feelings living through and remembering all of it. Really like the clip of Kitna talking about the 2007 season because I always was puzzled why the wheels fell off. Man Marinelli was such a bad hire. Should have just turned the keys over to Martz the next season.
I'm a third of the way through this video and so far it's great. I thought I'd make it through 5 min and call it quits, I'm impressed. 30 year fan, go Lions! We gonna take care Dallas tomorrow!
I watched this team for a full season in 2013 and seeing them choke away the division where everything went right for them only to fall short in a situation where they just needed 2 wins out of the last 4,and I honestly thought when the Lions lost against Chicago and Green Bay this year,I thought they would do it again in a situation where they just needed to hit 11 wins. It was gut wrenching during that Minnesota game and saw the team almost choke that game away like all the other Lions teams during the decade I've watched. Thank the lord this team is changing for the better and is pulling through like hell to win the division after so long. Even if we go back to being garbage for another 20 years, I'll at least know they'll rise again somehow someway like they did this year. Also, thank you to my dad for introducing me to this team and thank you to Mike Valenti for basically carrying the Detroit sports media through it's darkest moments whether serious or comedic. Now,can we get that playoff win?
You have a woman for years and years making decisions on how a MANS sport should be coached & conducted. Everyone scratching their heads what went wrong. COME ON NOW.
Being born in 1989, I was too young to really remember all these heartbreaking moments throughout Barry's tenure in the 90s, but I knew 1999 was the last playoff appearance. The Harrington years, the Matt Millen Era, the Quintricia Era, all of it was horrible to live through. But we survived, for the first time in my life I can be proud to be a Lions fan. I am so happy that Sheila took over and isn't like her parents, she actually cares about this team, she hired the right people to run the show, she's put in the work to ensure they got what they need to succeed, and it's finally paying off. It keeps bringing tears to my eyes every time I see the celebration and how much it means to some of our guys like Taylor Decker, to have been involved with this franchise for so long and suffer through it with us, to finally be part of something as special as this. Ford Field will be rocking in a few weeks when we host our first playoff game there, I'm excited to see it and how we build on it next year. To get this far so fast during a rebuild is crazy, I have so much respect for Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell for what they've accomplished already.
I know he wasn’t a good general manager but Bob Quinn gifted me a hat when I was young and helped us go to a game because my cousin used to work with him so I will forever like him. That being said I have never been happier as a Lions fan so thank you Brad, Sheila, MCDC, and everyone else in the organization
As a lifelong Bills fan - all I can say is I know what y'all have been going through. I'm pulling for y'all too. The NFL is a better place when Detroit is relevant. Good luck and I hope you guys give 'em hell.

*penalty
2011 and 2013 vs. the Cowboys, the Lions had to come back in the 2nd half and won both games.
@jessypadgett1846 Don’t be a douche
Actually, the refs missed two calls during the 2015 Cowboys playoff game. Dez Bryant ran onto the field without his helmet. That's a penalty, too.
I love the part, when you said “ if’s only the game could end at the end of the second quarter “ that’s was too…..funny..!!!
Born in 1992 and I feel the same way!
Also born in 93 and feel the same man. Go Lions!!!
Because people outside of Detroit needed to see why this division title was so special after 30 years of darkness
I love this video. Very much a “remember where you came from” every Lions fan should watch this
My exact reason I made it
That flag pickup is unforgettable, it was good to see Stafford get a sb ring, but even better to see my team get the north! IT'S A LOCK
I'll never not have a grudge against the Cowboys after that 2014 playoff game. We were CHEATED!
Robbed on National TV!!
They got their payback the next week dez didn't catch it 😂😂😂
The damn league called in and said wtf are you guys doing letting the lions win we need green Bay vs Dallas next week
How's that grudge stewing right about now?
@@jeffwinter1651
Yeah, the Lions are the gift that just keep on giving...to the rest of the NFL that is. The blown call (can't really call it a blown call, they called it right initially, just BLATANT cheating was all) gifted Dallas, the payback call against them gifted Green Bay, so the cheating refs in our game ultimately benefited our hated rivals also...
Born in 1979, Lions have me crying tears of joy for the 1st time ever. Thank you so much Shella.
One playoff win since 1957. Respect for Lions fans - you’ve earned this!
We’ve had more than one playoff win since 1957

Bob Quinn firing Caldwell and going straight to Matt Patricia is like a kid kicking someone off of their playground team because their best friend wants to play😂
Congratulations to Lions fans everywhere. Yall have a great team and an amazing future.
I’m 26 and from Cali, I Was born into being a Lions fan , I wore a Sanders jersey on my first day of kindergarten . It’s been a long time coming can’t wait for this playoff game baby !!!
As a Bills fan I can certainly relate to the prolonged misery you guys endured, but it only makes this so much sweeter. Enjoy every second of having one of the top teams. I'm very happy for the Lions fans. You deserve a winner and now you got one
It definitely makes winning the division that much sweeter🔥
Winning the NFC North Division means so much to us all! After having the Division in our grasp 4 times in 10 years and 3 times, we failed to get the job done. The 4th time is the charm!!! Now we're reaching for the stars and going for it all!!! GO LIONS ROARRRRR!!!!!!
As bad as Matt Millen was he seemed to be very self aware, honest, and seems to be a pretty cool guy
He was also aware that he was taking advantage of an 80+ year old dry drunk failson. He never mentioned that, however.
This video really needs the end of last season at Lambeau to be included. It set the tone for this season.
Enjoy it Detroit fans, you earned this and deserve it, they will be as good as long the contracts hold up.
That Edinger kick hurt like a son of a bitch, especially seeing the fact that the Lions wouldn't contend for a playoff spot for a decade
I was there - the last game I ever saw them at the Silverdome. Case was a turnover waiting to happen.
@@fredbobberts5753 I lived in Santa Fe when he played for UNM. Was very aware of his track record
Congrats Lions fans from a lifelong Packers fan. You guys deserve it and your players earned the division. We all admire Coach Campbell. Hope we see you in the postseason.
I've been to Detroit Lions fan since 1969 at the age of 9 years old thank you for putting this together
I'm a Lions Fan I'm and so proud of their success 🙌
As a Eagles fan I might fuck around and shed a tear my damn self if you win it all....alot of us are pullin for you guys over here big time bro, alot of our fans are really harsh but we're not all like that and with that said I pray that you guys get to experience that feeling bro, you got one HELL of a coach and a damn good roster....GO FUCKIN GET IT DETROIT!!!!....GO GET IT!!!!!!
I don’t know why I watched this! It pissed me off all over again. But it has me grateful for who we have now
Great video sir. @ 50:56 sorry Jared Goff.. hopefully we can do that to Mathew Stafford when he comes back to Ford-field on wildcard weekend.
0:23 seeing barry like that is so sad bro.
Once I saw Dan Campbell speech I knew, right then he was right head coach. I'm so proud of my lions. Somethin tellin me we will be playing in the SB 58 even doe it rigged somethin tellin me lions will play best football this comin up Sunday go lions
The team is a reflection of the city. And both are improving and seeing the sunshine after a long storm.
This video reminded me that it’s always darkest before the dawn. The Quinntricia era specifically made me want to scream and rip my hair out, but I couldn’t be happier with where we are now!
All real content, no bs filler. Amazing work 10 stars. Go Lions
I agree
Spielman is a smart guy in my opinion, he knew what was best for this franchise.
I scoured RUclips for Russ Thomas stuff and there is nothing on him because I know the significance of his effect on the Lions because he was practically Matt Millen but was like the GM for 20 years
and eddie murray missing the game winning field goal against the Montanta 49ers in the playoffs😢
Wow impressive finding all these old clips!! For a small youtuber this is impressive!
Thanks! It was definitely not easy sometimes but this was a passion project
Best 1hr and 12 minutes this week, thanks dude ❤
Great video been a Lions fan all my life I almost threw my phone having flashbacks from Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia interviews
As Browns fan, I feel you 100%. Great video. Thank you!
Appreciate it!
Unreal video man
Appreciate it man!
LFG Lions!!
How have I lasted as a fan of this organization..... pitiful franchise until Shelia took over.
Matt Millen being hired was the worst thing thing to happen in 2001
Oh come on dude
It’s crazy to think how high the expectations were for Matt Patricia coming in as coach. Such a disappointing and depressing time to root for this team. So grateful for the new regime today!!
Lifetime Contracts for Dan and Brad!!
Born in 1951 been a fan all my life
A lot of time and energy went into this. Wow! Great job!
Thank you so much!
This was so well made. I love the Valenti stuff. Bravo. This video covers my lions life from my late teens til present day perfectly.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have never been a Lions fan, but I’m thrilled to see them get this far. They need to cross not playing in the Super Bowl off their list this season. 👍🏻
Been a fan since 1989. This video brings back so many memories. Alotta heartache too. It's been a wild ride.
As a lifelong Lions fan born in 2001, I loved this video! It gave me the rest of the story on my team's 15-year rise from the ashes.
This needs all the views! Get some history into these folks. Great video broski! 🔥
Thanks Fire!
Firing the two arrogant clowns Patricia and Quinn saved this franchise.
I've been a Lion's fan for 50 years. Yes, we've had some rought decades, but that's changed now!
Nothing good and worthwhile comes easy. But with patience and perseverance, outcomes are always favorable. Glad I got to witness this in my lifetime. Congratulations.
Go Lions!! 🦁
Thanks for the video. It helps me understand the fan base better.
Thanks!
Great video man. Took me through all the feelings living through and remembering all of it. Really like the clip of Kitna talking about the 2007 season because I always was puzzled why the wheels fell off. Man Marinelli was such a bad hire. Should have just turned the keys over to Martz the next season.
Yeah wish there were more of those Kitna clips from other players to add to the video a little more
you just made me remember why i hated patricia so much. thank you for never letting my anger sleep
Looking and hearing Bob Quinn I still can’t believe he convinced people to hire him…Milhouse

I'm a third of the way through this video and so far it's great. I thought I'd make it through 5 min and call it quits, I'm impressed. 30 year fan, go Lions! We gonna take care Dallas tomorrow!
Thanks for putting that awesome video together....GO LIONS!
Packers fan here......Dat-a-boy Lions! Been a long time.....congratulations.
Not a lions fan, but fuck off!

I remember 2013. I think we started 6-3 and ended up 7-9. It was a painful year for me because it was like a repeat of 2007
@@baseballsoffury642 Don't go insulting there fury. Go simmer down and drink some tea next to your blm flag.
Jesus. We defered in OT during the 2000 season? I wish Y2K destroyed the modern world
Matt Millen took complete blame. That takes a real man.
It looks like those Head Coaches were hired from Dollar General.
