You hit it on the nutshell and the N7 helmet piece is from the helmet Shepherd wears in ME3 I think the explosion could have sent femshep there to the planet because in the last part when she’s shooting the device it explode outward not downward if that makes sense?!?

@@MysticFL1-Beth But Alcherra is a long ways from the sol system, if Shepard is alive, he wouldn't have survived drifting in space unconscious until he lands on Alcherra, the helmet piece maybe more possible to drift out to Alcherra, but that would mean Shepard didn't survive, he would've needed enough oxygen to crash land on Earth and survive

The fan base is split pretty squarely on wanting/not wanting to play as Sheppard. The Khet of Andromeda was just a small Legion. The strength of the khet is unknown. They attack in power in the milky way. Fast forward 500 years and Liara and the player are part of a rebel group trying to use the thing in Andromeda to resurrect Sheppard because only he could defeat them. This is them searching for anything of his as his body exploded sending pieces across the galaxy. The last mission is sacrifice yourself to resurrect Sheppard or destroy him. Next Mass effect you could play as your character or shepard. Could go down an army of Sheppard route but don't think it would be as good of a storyline and alot harder to completely change the storyline of the next game.

There certainly needs to be a logical explanation for the N7 helmet piece recovery by Liara in the trailer, and I hope it's an oversight by Bioware that Shepard's helmet just before his dive to the planet did not have it. After all, it's the N7 uniform/enviro kit he was wearing, and would have normally been emblazened with the logos.
I have to say that this oversight by Bioware is forgivable and, to some extent expected, given the depth and complexity of the story (which makes ME one of the best games to become immersed in) and the scrutiny given to it by the ME community as a result.
The question is "Why did Liara go there?" and "How significant is the N7 helmet piece find?". Was she looking for it, or did she just stumble across it? Is Bioware just trying to show that Shepard is going to play a significant role in ME 4/5.
The destroy end, which we probably consider to be canon at this point, has Shepard survive somehow. So for a period of time after that, Shepard would have been part of the galactic recovery effort. So what occured between then and Liara's N7 helmet find? I'm not sure gathering bits of Shepard for a re-clone would be at the top of the agenda given the result of the last clone.

    • @MadGab25
      @MadGab25 2 года назад

@@WJFRudman Very interesting theory, there are so many possibilities as to what happened after the destroy ending and Shepard's survival.
The N7 piece has to be from Shepard's ME3 helmet, because both the helmet and the armor from Mass effect 2 are collected in the game, the helmet by Shepard on Alcherra, and the armor by Liara, you can see Shepard's armor in Liara's apartment on Lair of the Shadow Broker, wich also show's us that Liara has already been on Alcherra, why would she go there again?
Maybe Shepard found a way to travel there, wanting to salvage the wreck of the Normandy SR1, maybe it's just a significant place un the story, maybe Shepard got sent all the way there, but it's not possible, Alcherra is a long ways from Earth, and Shepard's survival scene is on Earth, so what happened, if all the galaxy got disconnected, what happened after?

But if the planet in the trailer IS Alchera, wouldn’t Liara need a helmet or respirator just as Shep needed one in Me2? Granted she’s an Asari but she would still need some sort of oxygen other than not having a helmet at all. I don’t think it’s Alchera but rather say Siberia or some very cold place on earth. I was originally leading towards Its the OG squad (maybe shep next to the ship) picking up some Shepard armor after it was either blown to bits by Harbinger (before our hero marauder shields) or fell down from the citadel after perfect destroy ending.

I think it's the most probable idea I don't think they would be so cruel and stupid to troll us about that piece of helmet not being Shepards. the citadel was in orbit and we know trhat pieces of satellites can fall on earth in any place compatible with the earth rotation. how he/she survived the fall is another story. there is however the issue of the three moons. Is it possible that was something like a Liara dream?

I think the only reason that doesn't make sense is because of 3 moons. The only 2 things to explain that imo, is moons formed out of debris, (very un-likely given their size) or it's a different planet.

Great theory. I think the possibility that the reason the helmets don't match is because Shepard had the newer helmet for 2 games so it's more iconic to the franchise so they went with that.
However, we know Shepard's body wasn't left on that planet and the Reapers know this aswell as Liara. Why return there? We know cloning Shepard isn't the best idea as all of Shepards memories from ME3 wouldn't be there.
My only last ditch explanation is maybe Liara found a way to transmit memories to Shepard because she was allowed to study the memory shard from Javik and SOMEHOW found a way of pulling back some of Shepards memories from people and places he/she's been? Maybe to loosely rebuild Shepard's conscious in a new cloned body? Maybe that's a big theme for the new game?? All massive speculation.

If he/she was wearing the enviro-helmet, the standard ‘boots on the ground’ helmet would still be in Sheps locker or wherever he kept it in his cabin (which he did; ME3 Shep was performing maintenance on his helmet in his cabin when Liara came in to speak to him after Plaven, I believe) I believe you are on to something, amigo. So for me it is possible that Shepard maybe after waking up from the probable crash land he/she had, then found a way to venture to that planet, specially because the Normandy SR1 crashed there, maybe trying to get resources, or somewhere familiar to stay, and like you said, maybe The Inusannon, after realizing the threat of the Reapers has finished, they finally traveled beyond the planet they we're hiding on, with a probability of exploring Alcherra finding Shepard alive and taking him with them.
Maybe there is a probability that Shepard made an alliance with the Inusannon where he/she helps them rebuild in exchange for helping him find the crew, and a way back home
it's an interesting theory, and it might not be to far fetched, it's actually very plausible

Honestly, I'm suprised. The first time I've watched the trailer I recognized Shepard's next-gen N7 helmet piece right away (thought everybody else did also, so don't take this the wrong way). Also; I'm not entirely sure it belongs to Shepard. Remember that Shepard was the N7 Operator, BUT there was a whole lot bunch of badasses (James Vega included) within N7 Spec Ops. Maybe devs are just playing with fans' nostalgia and the next main character is gonna be another N7 agent. And about Alchera: the "breather issue" so I guess maybe it's another planet or maybe the nights require you wearing the helmet because you'd freeze to death, but daylight time is relatively safe.

    2) I looked closely what planet it could be AND the final planet where Joker "lands" the Normandy after running away from the crucible blast - it has also multiple moons; the planet where is the "star gazer" also has multiple moons, its icy in the star gazer scene and Normandy crew lands there. (the only problem there is that if you have enough war assets, Joker will take off again BUT if you dont, Joker starts a colony there which has tales of commander Shepard AND since Liara is really hard to kill, she could be there BUT how Shepard got there ??)

Why does everyone think that Shepard only had one helmet, the one she wore during the Collector attack on the Normandy? Who only has one helmet? I imagine the quartermaster on the Normandy kept several spares for Shepard, as she was always coming back from missions with banged up equipment. Shepard found one of her old helmets intact on Alcherra, and it is highly unlikely that it is the one she was wearing when she landed on Alcherra.
_Assuming she ever did actually land on Alcherra._ There is a lot about the Lazarus Project that is kind of stupid, it was clearly a narrative device used to create a game effect, and they really didn't think it through. They have an opportunity to recontextualize the events surrounding the Lazarus Project to make the whole thing way cooler in retrospect, and I hope they do. I think that it makes more sense that Cerberus had some kind of foreknowledge of the Collector attack, and swooped in and snatched Shepard as she was falling toward Alcherra, after she 'flatlines' but before real brain death could occur.

The biggest issues I have with the theory are we heard a recording or data pad entry that when they were rebuilding Shepard in M2 that the helmet was intact, and protected Shepard brain for whatever good that would do. It was in either M2 the station attack and our awakening or M3 at the Cerberus Headquarters. So the helmet piece might be from the recovered helmet if it's the crash site. Liara wasnt wearing a mask so it had to be a breathable atmosphere, and it wasnt when we visited the crash site. We were on the citadel when we destroyed the reapers, and its confirmed as a dead reaper shes walking up, with indoctrination a thing even when dead I think that leaves out the crash site since they might still have the ability to indoctrinate if they were from an earlier fight, also there were no acknowledged dead reapers at the crash site when we visited. If there were dead Reapers at the crash site we wouldnt have had to go looking for an IFF, or gone to the collector ship. It might be Earth since the majority of the reapers had gone there to protect the Citadel from the Alliance and the device, so dead Reapers in orbit would have rained down on the planet, maybe that massive wave of power shunted thru the relays finally burnt out the Reapers totally, including the indoctrination aspect. Than theres the fact our armor was literally blown off when we fought at the beam in London to get onto the Citadel, and we went up with no helmet at all, and a very crispy under uniform. But I believe that in the area we landed in there was a Keeper sorting parts or bodies that had a N7 helmet held up as we walked by it. I think its Earth not the crash site.

We have no idea how the massive release of the power thru the relays and Citadel affected Earth. We literally wiped out a system by destroying the Batarrian relay. For all we know we plunged Earth into a nuclear winter. Indoctrination was occurring with inert or dead Reapers or artifacts so the Reaper corpses are more likely to be from the final fight and totally inactive because we destroyed them, controlled them and they are hibernating, or now a living hybrid and have a lifecycle from synthesis.

Depending on your endgame choice you could have the reapers help, they are destroyed totally or we are now all a synthetic hybrid. I really think we are coming into the Milkyway galaxy from outside, possibly from Andromeda based on the trailer. The simple fact the radio messages we hear thru out the trailer are the Earths oldest being heard first than more recent and timeline current the closer to your destination. That's the way they would be heard if your traveling towards Earth from outside our system, they even have a scene that looks like we go through the Kuiper belt thats only around 30 au from Earth and than we see the massive battlefield debris field, it even looks like we pass thru the burned out destroyed hulk of the Citadel. I'm starting to think the teaser is a bit of a mess and maybe we shouldn't give it so much importance.

Great theorizing! I too felt Liara was on the planet Alchera. If we do go to Eingana for ME4 I hope Javic is still alive and he and Liara can be on the same exploratory mission. I would give anything for Liara to rib Javic when he finds out his race's biotics were the result of gene manipulation by his Innosannan Gods. I'm going with trailer artists forgot, too.

A Prothean survived, so why not the other races? I'd love if Javik stuck around for the next game and wouldn't mind meeting some other old races. I think that given the reaper's fascination with Shepard (they sent the collectors after all) it makes sense they would send one or 2 to Alchera to see if they could find something in the wreckage to help them stop Shep. I expect the helmet was an oversight, but who knows.

If the Inusannon were ostensibly extirpated in the cycle before the Protheans, then they could easily survive another 100,000 years if they had enough of a viable population that could hunker down on a backwater planet. Whether they could preserve anything of their culture and history is another matter, but I imagine watching the next two Reaper cycles (assuming they had some capacity to know what's happening offworld) would give them incentive to keep hiding out.

But, Shepard could be one of the figures Liara looks at, at the end of the trailer, meaning some time has passed and he has recovered and joined up for a new mission, as you point to.

I don't think we should take the trailer as strictly canonical but rather artistically suggestive. It's a very early work proceeding a TON of dev work that's still ongoing. So just because the N7-logo is missing on Shep's helmet I wouldn't consider that a deal breaker. Liara could still go to Alchera to look up something from Shep's past.

i'd like to think Shepard had multiple helmets. we know the Normandy crash site mission is about finding the dog tags of the members that died and returning them to the family members to give them closure after those two years. but when we find the helmet, Shepard keeps it in their room on the Normandy. if it was another member, they would most likely give it back to the alliance so that it can be given to the family of the person that died
Shepard also was most likely still wearing their helmet when they body was find since it's mentioned in the video log on cerberus that the only reason their brain was able to survive was due to their helmet keeping it intact. maybe that piece liara picks up did come off the helmet. we know she was able to do some digging around for a while and recover shepard's dogtags and give then back at the end of the shadow broker dlc. but not only that she was able able to recover some of their armor and keep it in her apartment. who's to say she didn't do the same for the n7 helmet piece.
i know the shadow broker was the one to find shepard's body but i believe it was never mentioned how or where he found their body (please correct me if i'm wrong and it is actually mentioned somewhere) maybe shepard did land on that planet when they died and the shadow broker just left the stuff belonging to them and he was only interested in the body itself.
regardless of what that planet actually is and why liara is there picking up that bit of n7 helmet piece, i'm still excited to see where it's going in the next game. looking forward to the next n7 day to see what other clues/hits we'll get

Finding an old crashed ship on an icy, deserted planet has cool visuals, so they reused this same general idea twice, independently from each other.
The first planet is not special at all, so it doesn’t make much sense to reuse the exact same location. It would be weird if Liara would focus on finding some old relic from long time ago, which was ignored all along. Rather she looks for the remainings of ship which crashed during the final battle.
It just makes way more sense to connect the story to the final Reaper battle, instead of events from the beginning of ME2.

Recall Legion's explanations as to how he followed Shepard. His last stop was based on discovering that the trail had gone cold. This means that his N7 chunk had to be found there. Yet, Shepard's armor had remained whole throughout (As he lost his air through pincushion penetrations!) and this was why I remain mystified about Legion's equipage. The fact is that his helmet had retained integrity (During his resurrection the one voice says that his helmet had kept his head together, the only reason they had a chance to regenerate him.) voids the destruction into pieces explanations.
    Conundrums abound!

But if the same scene makes it into the next trailer, then I can see it belonging to someone like Sheperd due to the scene being used more than once which puts emphasis on the N7 piece.

That helmet insignia matches perfectly with the helmet on the main menu of the legendary edition launcher.
When you cycle between games the visor on the helmet changes colors but the nothing else does. Perhaps indicating this is maybe canonically what the helmet shepherd carries through all three games looks like.
Might be a stretch, but I am personally under the impression that Alchera has an alright chance to be where Shepherd lost that helmet.
I also believe there is a fairly good chance the cinematic team either didn’t know or didn’t care about the small detail that the insignia wasn’t in the Mass Effect two intro.
The biggest hole to this theory to me is why two reapers would even be on this planet for the reasons you mentioned, especially so close to each other as if the crash site was around a heavily densified area. Which it clearly wasn’t.

Since the last known location of Shepard was Citadel which is by the time of ME3 ending was orbiting EARTH. So if Shep survived and some reaper remnant falling, most likely they will be dropped around Earth Sphere. And from trailer most likely Liara is on Arctic Area. This scenario also making sense with how Shep helmet is having N7 logo as it was the latest Shep helmet on ME3 & not the old non logo one as we already found that in Alchera mission..but the 3 moon though, that's hard to explain

I feel that having survived final battle (it would be cruel if BioWare have just placed that scene where she/he takes breath just to conclude that Shep dies waiting for a rescue), the commander would not be able just to live a normal live and rest for long. Shepard would just throw her/himself into another mission, partially because it was something she/he did her all life, additionally as a way to cope with PTSD (dream in ME3 point on that) and survivor guilt. I love the idea of searching for Shep on a swamp planet, kind of searching for Yoda. Your analysis is great as always, hope that ME4/5 developers would share your love for the games and would also thinks as deeply as you on their content. Hope we will know more from BioWare soon.

I'm currently replaying ME2 for the 1000th time, actually for the first time after release of this trailer...and just as I was walking around the Normandy crash site and picked up the helmet, I got the exactly same idea that you had and immediately stopped everything to go search the internet if someone else came up with this idea...of course the first result was this video :D But to the theory as I see it:
    - After seeing the info you brought up from the planet description, I'm highly convinced that this is indeed Alchera. Your reasoing behing the Reapers going there because of Shepard also does make sense.
    - N7 helmet - the fact that the ME2 helmet didn't had the logo could indeed be just a oversight. Afterall, it is unlikely that it could be a piece of Shepards helmet from ME3 ending, as someone already stated in the comments, his/her armor got completely destroyed during the final run. Also to the N7 logo - I've been toying with a theory idea in my head for some time about how could Shepards N7 helmet get to a different planet than Earth because of what happened at the end of ME3. One of my ideas is that it doesn't have to be right after ME3 ending. Explanation: Shepard somehow survives ME3 ending (insert a lore-friendly story writting element in order to explain that) -> Shepard recovers from injuries -> for some reason (again, insert a story reason for that) he/she goes to Alchera with a NEW ARMOR with the N7 logo -> something goes wrong on Alchera and he/she looses the piece of N7 helmet -> Liara later finds it (again, insert story reason for why she didn't come with Shepard in the first place) -> story goes on from there. I know it's a little far-fetched, but I like playing with these theories in my head all the time, just like you :D
    - Liara breathing - my idea is that she could simply be using biotics in order to shield herself from the enviroment. That could be a simple lore-friendly explanation for it.
    - Reapers coming to Alchera during the war (or to be specific, to the Amada system in the first place) might very well be the facts you brought up about Eingana.

It took a lot just to get the attention of one capital ship reaper to appear somewhere with low population (I.E. the Leviathan of dis). To see 2 capital ship reapers ought to mean this planet was more than just simply a priority planet for the Reapers. So it's possible that a former Apex race was inhabiting Alchera and that could be why two capital ship reapers were there. Would be kind of neat if we are following an investigation from Commander Shepard and those to big reaper ships have been there for more than a few cycles time.

I've always thought that the snowy planet was the one the SR-1 crashed on, and what we are seeing is Liara finding Shep's body before handing it over to Cerberus for the Lazarus project. She tells us she saved Shepard's body from the Shadow Broker but not how, and as she was there she would know exactly which planet to go to to look for it.
If the Innusannon had colonised the system then it makes total sense for dead Reapers to be there, as I am sure that Humans were not the only species to have managed to kill a few during their harvesting cycles. And 100,000 years is peanuts in geological time, so the planet would not have changed much to destroy the corpses.

Very nice catch about the planet. It could also be that this cinematic is not from the start of the game but something that happens at a later point, on that planet. Maybe Shepard survived (i.e. perfect Destroy ending) and for some reason he went to this planet on his way to somewhere else and Liara is following the breadcrumbs, in order to find him? It could be an interesting idea to play both sides of this storyline, if such a theory is true. On the one hand we could be playing Shepard who, for some reason, is searching for something alone in the Milky Way and on the other hand we play the LI and their squad who follows the clues and tries to catch up.

very good and well explained video, 🙂👏💯👍 like you said it might be Shepard's helmet, or might not be, but something that could be is that possibly part of Shepard may be on the ice planet and liara might be looking for part of him to bring him back in a way like Cerberus did, only but this time like a clone because there might be possible problems with the species of the tropical planet.

  • @ActionHank

Thanks for the theory video! I honestly look at this as two options. 1. They're retconning the insignia on the helmet and making it a plausible reason as to why she finds it buried in the snow. Possibly also reconning the fact the planet isn't oxygen supporting as you see 3 other people in the background. Looks like a Human in the middle, Salarian on the left and I think that's Turian armor on the right. Not 100% sure obviously, but the silhouettes match in my eyes haha and it doesn't look like they're not wearing helmets either. Maybe they're searching for some sort of remnants of Shepard for another resurrection like in ME2? Possibly Liara has put this team together to hunt for said Shepard stuff. Wouldn't be completely out of the question tbh. Wouldn't be the most original concept either, but why not?
Option 2? Maybe they're pulling a fast one on us all with this teaser and it has absolutely nothing to do with the next game. They're just showing us the floating debris and Liara for no other reason than to say it's going to be rooted in the original Mass Effect series in the Milky Way Galaxy and not Andromeda LOL. Regardless, I CANNOT WAIT for the next chapter in the Mass Effect saga 🙂
    Thanks again for the video!

I'm wondering if Shepard might've latched onto a reaper during the energy blast, and that's what the debris was in the ending. It would be great if they gave you the option to pick different outcomes at the start of the game like ME2, that way you could still have your trilogy story intact.

If it is in fact Alchera in the trailer, one reason why Liara isn’t wearing a helmet could be simply for cosmetic reasons. Like in the game, she would need a helmet, but maybe they just removed it for the trailer so we could actually see her face and be able to recognize her for the reveal.

There's a new option for mass effect 5 during me3's priority: thessia the prothean vi talks about a pattern but all conflicts, evolutionary paths and so forth happen in Cycles and the reapers are a product of that cycle not its master. So the next mass effect game could have the cycles master as the enemy. If we choose the control or sync paths then the reapers would be the first line of defence and they are holding the line while we find a way to stop them. This is a way for there to be dead reapers in the trailer without forcing that ending on everyone.

Could be a reference to ME2 and Shepard thought to be dead but not . Maybe it broke off and got flung through a mass relay before or during the ending of ME3 as debris in space and landed on the same planet where Shepard died in ME2 or something happen that caused Shepard helmet to broke off or to remove by Shepard while on the planet for some reason between ME3 and ME4/5.

Liara searching for Sheppard who is on some mysterious quest to find more forgotten species such as the Leviathans would be an interesting start to the game. Where we play as Liara, while her friends, & family {maybe a few little blue babies, since she did say Asari can use past encounters to procreate} try to convince her that Sheppard is dead. Yet as the Shadow Broker she tends to knows more of recent events, than anyone else in the galaxy. Therefore, say Sheppard keeps an old promise & sent up a figurative flare for her to see & find him. As for timeline, it would be very interesting to advance it a couple decades at least, & for Sheppard it was a blip in time as being so close to the exploding Catalyst had a temporal effect of flinging him forward in time & space. Because really, how does he go from orbit to breathing again on the ground? 😅

I don't think it's the same planet, because it's stated in the Shadow broker DLC that Liara is the one used shadow broker resources to find his body on Alchera to begin with, then give it over to Cerberus in hopes they could bring Shep back. Furthermore, as per the perfect ending cutscene with the breath. It looks like there is no snow wherever shep is, which could be earth if the citadel crashed down, except the three moons kinda hurts that theory.
I think it's most likely that it's an oversight from people who weren't part of the OG dev team.

It is possible that the entire trailer is a metaphor. Let's be honest, Liara would do just about anything for Shepard. Walking up the side of a dead Reaper in a blinding snow storm, could be a metaphor for that. Finding the N7 would be one for Shepard, of course. Now rewinding to the beginning of the trailer. Watching Andromeda fade into the background is about returning the story to the Milky Way. The sound bites, all having to do with space firsts (Man on the moon, John Glenn and what I think is a reference to First Contact War) could be a metaphor for this being the first chapter of a new story. The planet an its moons could be representative of all the planets Shepard visited in her/his travels or just a red herring.

I'm still convinced Liara is looking over at shepard in the distance when she picks up the N7 armour. I just don't get why she would look at that and smile, sure she could be remembering them and the good times but the broken piece of armour kind of symbolises their death rather than their life at least to me. If they wanted something for her to smile about perhaps an old photo of shepard would suffice.
Also, I still believe that the trailer wasn't meant to do much besides create hype which it has done very well, so the details of the trailer could be meaningless in the end, no one can say for sure until we get more information

Plot to offer: The planet is not Alchera, Destruction was chosen but Shepard did not "live." That is not Liara, but rather the distant offspring of Liara and Shepard who arrives in the Andromeda Galaxy some years after the events of the ME: Andromeda. This would suggest that life continues to be space fairing after the destruction and Liara's romance to be cannon. The presence of the "dead reapers" could suggest they were following the arks and were systematically "killed" as the crucible's matter hit them on the fringes of the milky way galaxy. This could also tie in with what Liam said about his car on its' way to Andromeda. There's much to hypothesize on until more information is attained.

so as you've pointed out Shepard definitely has an N7 helmet with the N7 logos on it. just because she wasn't wearing it in that emergency situation doesn't mean it wasn't on the ship anywhere. also why wouldn't they have multiple suits of armor and as such multiple helmets? can't be grounded because of damage to a helmet... just use another one. I'm convinced this is Alcherra and one of many of Sheps helmets fell on the planet on the ship broke apart and spread out. even if it was an oversight by the cinematic people it can be easily explained away as not a mistake.

Remember that Liara originally found Shepard and brought the body to the Illusive Man. Where do you think she found it?

I think its somewhere else. We dont even know if it is actually Shepards Helmet piece, he wasnt the only N7. I didnt think about the 3 moons, because I previously thought it could be Noveria. But I dont know how many moons Noveria has. It could have been another N7 that was killed fighting the Reapers, but Liara picks it up and remembers.

Conrad Verner is going to be the protagonist of the next Mass Effect. That’s who Liara is looking for. He’s the only hope to save humanity again.

If it is where Shep got spaced and all would this mean that ME 4/5 would be taking place in the 2 years between ME1 and ME2? Story of Liara looking for Shep's body and getting it to Cerberus. Maybee a story about Liara keeping it from the Shadow Broker?

I feel like that the N7 piece might be something just to tell the ME fans that the trilogy will continue, but it doesn’t mean anything in particular in the regards of Shepard.
Well - at least not in that trailer in particular , lol.
