There's never been anything as great as this design for a notebook imho. Except - power jack loose and cables at back - so no good for lap use. Otherwise MAGIC. So sad to have to go to something else.
I got this laptop because of its design. I can take it to work with out it standing out like a sore thumb. Great design that for some crazy reason they abandoned. It had a few flaws like the hinges and you couldn't turn off the rear fan lights but honestly I still have it and love it. Way ahead of its time.

I think this is what makes them unappreciated, the fact that they try so hard to make cool and stereotypical modern Apple-like designs. To me, HP is the one you went to when you wanted a MacBook Pro lookalike without breaking the bank. Now HP is trying to be more original. Nothing is original anymore, though. Everything is a remix of something else. Music, movies, everything...,

I got it for 1000 which you cant go wrong with for the build quality and specs which are on par with a macbook. I think my favorite part is that i can open it with one finger just like a mac.

I was personally looking at this notebook for my university next year, as Im looking for a small form factor, high power notebook. I was thinking this, the razer blade, msi gs60, or the aorus x3. What would you recommend?
if size/form factor is most important to you, I think the razer blade is probably the leanest of the bunch? All strong choices though. Just personal pref for you. Good luck at school!

Many Facts You are wrong bro right now the y50 comes with the 860m. It will get the 960m upgrade in a month or so. I do not know if you are making stuff up but please check the specs. The y50 is much more thinner and much more sexier looking than the square design of the msi cs 60. Yes the y50 comes with a 960m and the msi might come with a 970m. But you fail to mention that the msi that comes with the 970m is the msi gs60 apache pro whcih is about 1700 bucks. The lenovo on the other hand comes with the 960m for 1200 starting price. It will fall off in a month or so to ridiculously low amounts as I have come to know from previous experiences with lenovo products. So the price difference of 400 bucks atleast from 960m to 970m> i do not feel is worth it for me atleast. But if you like the msi then go for it :)

The worst glitch is probably the light setting often forgets all your shit and then sometimes it stops working all together so you have to reinstall drivers. The only bright side to this piece of crap is that I've had numerous people approach me saying how pretty it is.

i finally got HP Omen but with 960m version with pretty much exact same specs as everything else in this following video. can't wait for this notebook. got huge sale on it. $470.00 off for the black friday sale. Came to 1500$ CAN. before tax
I also purchased the HP Omen, one for me and one for the wife. My wife's initial impression was WOW. She loved the packaging and when she removed the laptop she said it felt like a solid piece of metal. I agree, the packaging materials were excellent and the laptop does feel extremely rigid and high quality. It had the usual HP bloat, easily cleaned off, the boot times are in the 3 to 4 second range leading me to believe very little hardware checking is being done at the BIOS level. The PCIe M.2 SSD's are incredibly fast, the system has a very fluid feel to it. The keyboard is slightly skewed to the right because of the gaming hot keys which does cause some typing errors but you get used to it. The keyboard back-light could stand to be brighter but when you look at it, it looks high quality, uniform and even. The ability to change colors per each zone, even the power button is a nice touch. The LED's blinking with audio is distracting and not accurate but I have stopped noticing it. The audio system is anemic and weak, not much output at all and the output you get, isn't worthy of being on a laptop of any kind. This is a thin computer but my iPad has better sound. Graphics are good, we don't play much games, the wife plays a few and it's more than adequate for her gaming needs. For how I use it, it is more than sufficient. Battery life is about as expected for such a machine, a few hours. The track-pad works well. I think most people who buy one now that the price has sufficiently gone down will be getting their monies worth. Compared to the Lenovo Y50 I bought and sent back, the Omen screams quality, the Lenovo Y50 pretends to have it but lacks it. I'd definately buy one again.

Got this for gaming a few years ago and it did the job. Decent FPS on most triple A titles. The issue was that I had high performance on, and the thing would get so hot near the top keys, so hot to where I couldn't touch it because it would burn my fingers. The fans are SUPER LOUD. I even went into the BIOS and changed the fan speeds, still super loud. If you're looking for a laptop for school, get a macbook or a cheaper non-gaming windows laptop.

the whole heat trap design reminds me to the infamous Pavilion dv6000. after about 1.5-2 years the thermal paste dries out under the heat-sink and the gpu overheats ,only re-balling helps or new motherboard. no wonder they advise the extended warranty so much...

The issue was that I had high performance on, and the thing would get so hot near the top keys, so hot to where I couldn't touch it because it would burn my fingers. The fans are SUPER LOUD. I even went into the BIOS and changed the fan speeds, still super loud. If you're looking for a laptop for school, get a macbook or a cheaper non-gaming windows laptop.
Why Why Why this laptop design was abandoned, They could've changed some elements like the rubber feet and sd card slot, this laptop is crazy nice!
So hard to access the inside to upgrade ram and storage, no Ethernet, unpractical ports

I love how you did a gaming laptop review for 10min and 8 min of that was just talking about the design of the laptop (yea that’s important too) but the actual game related stuff you speed through you could even tell he didn’t care lol
No harm in doing relatively old products review if they are worthy. It would be awesome if you do a review of the Asus NX500. Would be nice to hear your thoughts about it compared to other high ends laptops. Again keep up the great work!

the whole heat trap design reminds me to the infamous Pavilion dv6000. after about 1.5-2 years the thermal paste dries out under the heat-sink and the gpu overheats ,only re-balling helps or new motherboard. no wonder they advise the extended warranty so much...

I think the band on the Ethernet adapter is so the dongle doesn't slide off your desk when you unplug it.
Even if the laptop is a bit old now plenty of people still buy older models so I say keep making your awesome reviews even for older models :)
