2015 omen - Expensive but really good
2016/2017 omen - Cheaper but poor thermals
mid 2017 omen - Pricing isn't competitive until you drop $1200+
Thanks for watching!
Dave Lee! are there any other gtx 1060mq gonna release?
Dave Lee love the laptop but dont know if. I should buy it. Which one do you recommend me under $1,400
Dave Lee! Hi there! Sorry to bother you, just needed some help in the laptop purchasing dilemma. I'm planning to get the Asus Zenbook UX530, but I'm afraid that it might not be a good value laptop. I'll mainly be using it to work but I'll most definitely play on it; probably Overwatch most of the time. You think it can handle it? Thanks a lot and sorry again!
Hey Dave, I really want to get your attention I commented on your last video but do you think you can review the Acer Aspire E 15, 7th Gen Intel Core i7, GeForce 940MX, 15.6” Full HD, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, Win 10, E5-575G-75MD I really think it is good for its price is it a laptop to play gaming titles like gta 5 etc. it only cost $700 dollars thinking about getting I would like you to review because I really enjoy watching your laptop reviews. Please like this comment because my dog died... so Dave can see it.
do review on the hp omen 880 desktop with rx 580
I'm one of those people who watch a lot of PC videos but doesn't even own one but really wants one.
i can approve this.
I used to watch videos like these on a crappy intel atom laptop. 1 month ago I finally saved up enough money to build a nice gaming pc: i5 7600k, 16gb ddr4 @3200mhz, gtx 980 strix oc and a m.2 ssd for OS and most used games. Just get a mini or parttime job, there is nothing holding you back!
tueftel im a highschool kid, i would love to do part time jobs, but its illegal here. if i would save up for a pc it wouldve take me 3 years...
Maybe if you live in first world country... On the east, you would have to not eat for 6 months to get enough money for such specs with a part-time job.
tueftel How much did the 980 cost? Also, I'd probably get something similar (although a Ryzen 1600 or 1700 instead of an OC-able i5 or i7, but prices would be about the same), so how much did it cost you?
It looks like a Lenovo gaming color scheme with an alienware style design in my opinion.
Also seems like your product vector renders (whatever they're called) get better every time! Loved it!
Jimmy Tries World more like Lenovo colour scheme with MSI's design language...
the "X" made of red on the lid of the laptop looks alienware. My bad should of clarified.
Jimmy Tries World i reckon it looked more like the old lamboghini inspired asus rogs
Jimmy Tries World Lenovo Y700 or hp omen? Which one should ı choose?
Jimmy tries ...is This laptop suitable for vray renderings.....
I have this laptop and its great!! Never gets hot!! And the keyboard is perfect. The trackpad is very average next to macs. The screen is ok for anyone not very picky.
Ali ASH TV i got one too! Which graphic u got bro!.?
arjun jire nice! 1060 and its great. I dont game at all with it, its only for cad and rendering stuff :D
I got the 8gb 1070 wala varient! Games on the 120hz display look sick! 😍 i get like 250+ fps on csgo and 200+ on dota and over 150+ on pubg.....only 1 word for this laptop....sick!
arjun jire jesus! 200+ fps? Lol
Yea 😂 its crazy
NOTE: frame is metal. Static electrical discharge from yourself to the device will result in sudden system shutdown.
The Omen laptop series design takes a step backwards every year, I still wonder why companies think gamers want laptops to look like this ugly piece of s***
2016 design was the best, 2015 model was just as bad as this one. They take a step forward then a step backwards.
I think the 2015 one looked really cool
Ahmerd Ash gamers are kid at heart.
Seriously, and it's sad because their Spectre and even Envy line looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm so sick of the "gamer" aesthetic
I didn't think they needed to change their idea or the design that drastically on the Omen line-up. My carry around workstation is the 2016 one and I loved it for its not-too aggressive-looking but sleek chassis build out of all the other brands although I'm not getting the best performances and feature-rich laptop. But yes I do have to agree that the new one looks trash.
Someone wake me up when a gaming laptop comes out that doesn't look like Frieza's spaceship.
John Locke 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey wakie wakie, the new legion laptops just arrived :P
Ok
Skyclad Observer
why would you want a reg looking gaming laptop tho? I think they look cool, makes them stand out. you can get a regular looking laptop and just upgrade the insides to gaming specs... but why??
K3NNY O it’s too much no need for all the fancy colors
Don't let that distract you! Don't forget that Mr. Krabs sold SpongeBob's soul for 62 cents!
Aarian Ahsan thanks I have completely forgotten
Put this on pornhub lol
I am absolutely addicted to your videos and I think this was your best review ever. Short, concise, and to the point. As always, looking forward to seeing more of you!
3:08 beast mode with that SMG!
Currently using the early 2017 model (2016 chassis with i7 6700 gtx 1050ti 128gb ssd). Love this laptop, only downside is the screen but it is not very hard to upgrade, and if your like me you probably use a monitor for gaming anyways. Great value for money, wish i could afford a gtx 1060 laptop but 1500 is just a little to much for me to justify. Strongly recommend
Andy Martin you can find GTX 1060 laptops for 1000-1200. You can get a GTX 1070 laptop for 1300.
well the ones available at the time i purchased my omen with a 1060 either had a core i5 or no ssd. or no hard drive and just a 256 ssd. ones with comparable specs to mine except with a 1060 were 1400+
A squirrel could add a hard drive.
i got the early 2017 hp omen 17" with 6700hq, 4k gsync display, gtx 1070 and 512 gb ssd and 16 gigs of ram for 1400
its the $ thats the problem, i know how easy it is to change out the drives on most of these laptops
If there is a black and red color nearby Dave, he'll always..ALWAYS tell us its not his jam. I love you Dave! 😂
Love your vids Dave, if only you uploaded more often!
Quality > Quantity
Poterby Unfortunately, he has a real job so he can't. I think he would get more views and subs if he invested more time into RUclips if he had that luxury
would if i could heh. super busy at work in the summer!
Poterby He is not a Vlogger you know
Dave Lee what's your main job?
Just got the 2018 17.3'' i7-8570H 32GB of RAM 8GB GTX1070 and 144Hz panel. Perfect performance with gaming, multitasking and rendering, absolutely smooth. With its exhaust and overall design, I'd say this is the one for best value. It all depends on the market though, where I got mine, it was majorly less than the U.S. listed online prices, so I suggest checking other markets or waiting on deals. Love your work Dave, keep it up!
Got the 120hz 1060 model, gets hot but not uncomfortable.
I am using a USB keyboard, mouse, so I don't notice it. But for the price now in 2019 it's a really good laptop.
This laptop is so sick. I bought the 1060 Max Q GTX, i5 7300HQ, 120Hz G-Sync model. I love it so far.
Only negatives:
- Battery life is pathetic.
- G-Sync means no Optimus which is a shame, so 1060 is always being used which uses more power when idle.
- Basically almost always hearing the fans, even when idle.
- I don't particularly like the look. Wish they made gaming laptops just look normal instead of this gaudy ass shit they do.
Apart from that though it's great. Loving the 120Hz screen so much. Build quality is also very good and the sound system is surprisingly decent.
Yes very good build quality. Can I have your panel model number?
How is the noise level of your model? I have been looking at that one, but i don't wan't a noisy laptop, even when gaming things like league of legends and fortnite.
Should go with clevo or if you are in the benelux you can opt for BTO aswell
I got the same model as you
How is the laptop doing now
Seeing it on my Hp Omen with 120 hz, 1060 Max Q design.. Amazing best laptop ever!
tell me is this one bettter or ASUS ROG HERO??
I own it too, but i have got ghosting (long reponse times)
Spending that kind of money for a just "good" laptop is insane, there is way better options for way better prices
Kyle Melesky Yeah, why not spend that money for...........a Bad laptop instead right?!!!!
PowerhousePR if you think HP is good you're out of your mind
PowerhousePR I'm sorry, I don't really get the context of your comment, were you defending this laptop? Even he said that this laptop is a piece of shit for its price
Kyle Melesky or just get a custom pc
Unless you are a laptop fanatic just build your own desktop, because they cool better, run quieter, perform better, and are cheaper... etc and even if you added a keyboard and mouse, it would still be less than $1000.
This is my main laptop since it came out, just upgraded the ram to 16gb and it feels like a new computer.
A modern refresh of the Envy 133 to compete in the slim and light gaming notebook space would be a breath of fresh air from HP right now.
The review I was waiting for
Tech Triangle
...
At this point the Omen brand just means a cheap gaming laptop. What a wasted opportunity for HP.
please do the review on mid 2018 version of this thanks
I searched this because im a new gaming laptop user i just want to see the fps gpu etc, so thank so much for this its really cool im very thankful for this laptop
love those little animations you do. little things like that make the video from good to great. excellent stuff as always!
what about the newer models? 2019 2020
this video was made 3 years ago. Go watch his newer videos...he only posts a video on newer models if he thinks they are worth your time
So you dont deserve a decent answer? I have a new omen desktop and it has nothing but problems so my answer is NO. Hope my problems help you out.
@@dawger I have a weird one with a 2018 design but 2019 specs kinda weird only sells in some country's but is pretty good
I was made 3 years ago: READ!!!!
Dude I'm happy with this video. I've been looking at this Laptop for over a month because I need a new one to replace my current Craptop and this video is exactly what I needed.
RPD Llama it’s too late now you shouldn’t have bought I have it the fans are too loud it gets hot that it burns your fingers and if your gaming the FPS will drop to worse than xbox
@@jude7628 I did get the Omen a few months over a year ago. Fans are pretty loud but it's a laptop so I wouldn't expect better. Also, I can usually play Overwatch on Ultra/High settings and still get 120 FPS. I would still recommend this laptop.
For once a gaming review channel with a relaxed intro and relaxed tone of voice. What a relief it is not to be shouted at and blasted with music.
One important note from a guy which has this laptop with i7-7700hq and a gtx1060 maxq. Get that extra 8gb of RAM and also undervolt your CPU. I get so much better performance when using that dual channel RAM and with undervolting i go from 96degrees max to like 88degrees and it is crazy for me that you can boost a laptop so much by just investing 40$ in a new RAM stick and installing a software to undervolt the CPU. I hope some HP Omen owners read this ^^
Im on my Hp Omen 15 i8750h w GTX 1060 max Q 16 gb ddr4 2666mhz still running good
undervolted cpu to -147.5 on core and cache using throttlestop
Runs Overwatch at 97 to 103 fps on ultra
Temps go from 89 moderate load heavy load steady no throttling
Man why are all these gaming laptops junk. No way in hell I'm paying money for that
Mod/Tune uuuuuhhh say what? The dell inspiron is great
I agree. I'm planning on buying an Acer VX 15 or an Inspiron. Those have a much greater bang for your buck.
You can get an Ultrabook with a fairly standard look that can actually run games cheaper. Gaming laptops are just for gaming, honestly.
Yeah, I love my Dell.
Mod/Tune just build one that is better for half the price
I don't get it. Why not make the 120hz panel the default? Who in their right mind would want a piece of shit TN panel when the price for the upgrade is insignificant compared to the price of the laptop. Why risk giving consumers a bad experience when they might not be aware of the upgrade option?
Valentin Zambelli because then those who doesnt know a lot about PCs will buy a new 1 because they think theres something wrong
Valentin Zambelli
That's why you go to the HP website it will tell you every upgrade option avail for any of their pc's/laptops. you simply pick out what you want. By the way this year 2018 the 120hz is the default now. My 17.3" is actually 144hz as the larger display default.
Which Gtx you choose 1050ti or 1060??
john sellan
if you are talking to me, it came with the 1060 -it was just set, not an option.
and also the 1070 was an option, but the only noticable diff is the 1060 has 6 gb dedicated and the 1070 8gb, not much of a noticeable diff at all, but the 1070 is $250.00 more. not worth it to me.
@@k3nnyo411 I hope so on the default, I was giving one of these as a gift. Was just told it's a 17" i7-8750H OMEN.
Receive it in about 9hrs from now ,can't wait! 🙊🙉🙈
Hey Dave,
what is the purpose of the tv in the background?
Erik Nelson that's a monitor fr his macontosh
enticus macintosh
Tech Era macintosh
Purpose of TV is watching TV.
Nice video Dave! One suggestion: you mention all the specs for the laptop in your final closing for each of the laptop parts: if you could indicate the key travel for the keyboard, it'll be really useful
Looking forward to your best laptop(ultrabooks, budget and premium gaming laptop) videos
i have the model with the 1070, 32g ram, 1t hdd, and 256 sdd.... it's been a monster at running all my programs. I'm able to play 2-3 games at a time (i afk on 2 and play on one of course via life skills or afk skill). I love it, but i did not drop the $1900 for this laptop. I dropped $835 + tax and i even have a lower quality one with a 1060 in it still preforms great. HP has actually shocked me this time around with quality, customer service. 10/10 for sure.
This really helped me! I’m saving up! (Just a side note GET SOME LOTION OR SOMETHING FOR UR HANDS)
Ooey Gooey 😂
that probably came out wrong 😂😂😂
It's FIRST design was mind-blowing, this one is even worse than the second generic one :/ Too gamey / plasticky / blocky.
.ENGLISH PROFICIENCY I recently purchased this Laptop, and there was almost little to no plastic literally only on the vents. I'm not sure if HP have changed how they construct the laptop
.ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
pretty much all gaming laptops look like this anymore tho.
Can you do the 2018 one?
Dave Lee, thank you for this great review. I see that reviewing tech seems to be your niche, and it looks like a sweet gig. This review is exactly what I needed to see before attempting to purchase an HP Omen 17t, so I'll look around a bit more.
-MML
Digital Foundry has done an analysis on the MaxQ 1060, concluded that you could Overclock the gpu without it overheating and increase fan noise.
I got the Omen with an RX 580 from best buy. The RX 580 model is cheaper than the one with a 1060. It runs games good. Did not come with an ssd though.
Red Five I also bought the exact same one, i got mine for 1,100 and I really love it. I know it's not the most powerful computer ever but it's a damn laptop, not a desk top. But I can run all my new pc games on at least ultra settings with at least 60fps so it's been a really positive first step to getting more comfortable with pc gaming.
bootylicker69 does it heat much
not really, it has pretty good heat distribution and ventilation. i'd say warm is the worst it gets, playing wolfenstein 2
bootylicker69 idk man....I'm getting this for 950$ and there is a Asus laptop with 1060 at the same price....I'm unable to decide which to go for.....omen looks good but I'm worried if it gets throttled while playing games as I'm hearing about those issues...please be genuine and help a fellow gamer out!!
no throttling, is the asus gl502 the one you are looking at? asus doesn't have as good thermal performance but build quality is better, tbh i would go for the asus
bought the wrong one.
dark cheeto same. I heard we could change the display though so we just gotta figure that out lol
may i know which product you bought mate? is this omen ce-086tx or ce-085tx?
lol wdym i got a better spec one
dark cheeto which one did you get?
1060 3 gb
All HAIL another Spaceship plasticy looking laptop......🙄
I've had the 1070 variant of this laptop for the past 6 months now and it's performed amazingly outside of this massive CPU overheating issue that forced me to downclock the CPU to 2.3GHz. Even with that downclock I still see CPU temperatures @80C+
So you know better deals can you show me the better deal which has the similar specs as this w/ 120hz cause I'm pretty sure in description that one isn't 120hz
I can't believe HP would go with this design ,it looks like a MSI,Asus rog combo ,what shite! I thought HP new design would start to look like more and more like the Razer blade pro ,
g dylan c The 2015 HP Omen is the best looking laptop ive ever seen
Hp power pavilion 15 with a 1050 review please
PARVATHI SUBHASH NAMBIAR it has only 1 gpu (1050) so u can't exhange it in the future

I just bought the gtx 1060 max-q model with a i7-7700HQ processor and a 120hz screen, got a dead pixel after 3 days. I now ordered the dc model (15dc0804)as a replacement that has a much faster processor and a 144hz screen. Im really looking forward to it. With that said the build quality seems really nice, it feels ridgid and the screen looks nice. Im used to shitty cheap laptops so this has been quite a journey for me :)

Let us just appreciate all the hardwork on that intro logo design.
I wish you reviewed the 120hz 16gb ram gtx 1060 6gb version💔💔💔
ME TOO I THINK IM GOING TO BUY AND WOULD LOVE HIM TO REVIEW IT
Ordered it. 16gb ram variant, on the way.
Oral health Hi, how's the battery life? Any feedback about that laptop?

Will it run Club penguin tho?
Cant even run minesweeper m8
Hi Dave! It's been nice :)
I got my HP Omen today :) i7, gtx1060 and 16gb of ram and I am really enjoying it! Thank you for this video, it gave a good insight to this laptop and helped me make my decision from other laptops I was looking at.
Jamie Andrews hey dude , how is the laptop because i am planning to get it , how does the battery life goes with the 120 hz panel is it good or bad ? and how is the thermals on gaming ?
Sorry for the late reply I have been busy with Christmas. Well over all the build quality is very good and the one thing that surprised me the most is the speaker are very loud for a laptop. They are Bang & Olufsen and I am told they are a posh make of speaker/head phones. I have not ran in to any problems yet with games and only issue is it can become a little loud when playing Triple A games. I don't tend to notice while playing only when I turn the game off and the laptop is cooling down. Do you live in the UK? If so you can save £150 on the i7 GTX1060 model. Do you know somebody that has a "Blue Light Card", they would have to work in a Hospital, Police Armed forces or Prison service.
Hey im planning to buy the same variant as you are, can you give some details about your experience with the thermals on this laptop while playing AAA titles, like how fast the temps reach high, how high, any throttling etc.
I have had no issues with both of these, I play a lot of H1Z1, Spacehulk deathwing and Killing floor 2. I played for are 4 hours the other evening with my laptop hooked up to the tv. When I finished and went to move the laptop I was surprised how cool the table surface was. With my last laptop it would of been red hot to touch and as time has gone on I am more and more impressed with this machine, Plus it looks really cool :D
Jamie Andrews what about the battery life
i love how he gives the link to everything but the actual laptop
Anyone has this laptop with 120Hz screen ? If u do, can u tell me what is the model number & model ID of the screen pls ? Tqvm
AbdulRahman Z so far we see two panels model number for this omen 15
HP 15-ce019na is the 120hz one.
Dweller1987 urs is 1050ti right, can u tell me the the panel model number pls.
Same as the Zephyrus just Google it
Any chance of reviewing the HP Omen 17-an012dx ?? It's the one with the RX580 8gb. It's 999 at best buy right now, just wondering if this would make the HP a more compelling deal or not?
Just got one, open box at Best Buy. Great deal price wise (755) so I don't expect to be disappointed.
onlye marketing man I got this one at Best Buy too but guess what after 1 month and a half I sent it back for a repair service because it freezes during gaming and the bsod(blue screen of death) turn up multiple times a day with different error codes! It seems that the memory problem caused by either the ram or motherboard faulty....this laptop really drives me crazy and I am still waiting for my laptop to get back from the service center !!!! So should you buy it?
Its ok... I'll have my Apple Pro Stand trade-in for this... lol
I have omen 15 2016/2017. It has many cons:
- poor screen (color) and low brightness
-always cooling also while idleing
-poor battery life.
I hope this new model has solved most of these problems.
Dude this is why i love you. For example your thumbnails they are so classic and basic and there is no cringy stupid faces. And your speaking is very nice. I hate youtubers that screams, but the silence and calm voices bore me but you dont. You are my favourite youtuber. Thx for everything.
1:07,
Hey now please quit your job and focus on RUclips pls need more of your videos
Late to the party, but I just (April 2019) got a 17-inch Omen 17an120nr with 144 Hz 1080 screen, i7-8750H, GTX1060 6GB (not Max-Q), and 16GB DDR4. Overall, I'm very happy with it, but it has some issues with heat. I forgot about Afterburner and Throttlestop before I wrote my impressions on it. Users will probably want to download these too if you do much gaming with this.
I've posted this to a few other channels, because I wanted to share my experience with the gaming community at large. I don't mean to seem spammy, and I'm not trying to sell anything except my own personal opinion on this laptop. So....
The official Thunderbolt spec isn't included with all models of this machine. It's an upgrade. As you noted, even if the chassis shows the Thunderbolt logo on the USB 3.1 Type C port, it doesn't necessarily mean your own machine has Thunderbolt functionality. You'll need to get your exact model name and version number and Google it to see if you have Thunderbolt or not.
As I understand it, only USB 3.1 Type C gen 2 and above is officially Thunderbolt. The 17-an120nr I got has USB 3.1 Type C gen 1. Hopefully, at this level, the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 is more of a marketing label than a hardcore architectural/performance difference, and the port still might work with random Thunderbolt devices (example, maybe the Thunderbolt spec got redefined with some tiny changes at the last minute, and manufacturers weren't allowed to call their USB 3.1 Type C gen 1 ports Thunderbolt anymore).
I did see an HP Support person stating on a Best Buy forum that the USB 3.1 C port on the 17-an120nr is NOT Thunderbolt.
I also noted that the ad copy for the machine I bought did NOT say anything about Thunderbolt, which they definitely would have if it were present on the machine.
There are a few shady vendors out there claiming that the 17-an120nr does have Thunderbolt, so be careful of who you deal with, and make it a point to know exactly what you're getting.
In my case the Thunderbolt issue matters because in future I might want to use a higher-grade graphics card in an enclosure with this laptop. It wasn't a factor in my purchasing the machine, but obviously it would be a nice feature to have. Without it, you have no graphics upgradeability.
One recurrent problem Omen laptops have in general seems to be degradation and dropping of WiFi connectivity. I've experienced this myself. I can have my four-year-old Venom laptop sitting right next to this one on the same table, both connected to 2.4 Ghz WiFi, and the old machine will be downloading at its usual 2 Mbps+ rate while this one won't even reach 1 Mbps. It's aggravating, because WiFi is such a basic, important feature that you wouldn't think you'd still have to worry about on a brand-new laptop. I currently have no access to a LAN/Ethernet connection, and I wouldn't even have considered this laptop if I knew there were going to be WiFi issues of any kind. I realize "real gamers" don't use WiFi, but 1. I disagree and 2. It depends on the game and the quality of the WiFi.
After trying many different fixes and looking through tons of documentation, I believe the real cause of this machine's WiFi issues is thermal throttling due to WiFi card placement and general internal architecture.
In my own case, the only fix that worked was, oddly, to reset the battery power management slider from the Windows Task Bar at the middle point between "Battery saving" and "Performance" (despite the fact that I never run the machine from the battery - I didn't buy it for the battery and could care less about its battery characteristics), reboot using the default BIOS setup, and then walk around on eggshells afterwards. Any attempt to change or modify the WiFi connection after that will immediately cause the WiFi download speed to plunge to around 800 Mbps and stay there.
There seems to be a common theme in the approaches people take to fix the WiFi issue that involve turning off the machine or reducing workload at some point (like many others, I've also noticed that it usually downloads over WiFi fine for the first few minutes, and then the connection slows down massively). And then the issue comes back after the machine has been running for a while, regardless of what the user did, be it tweaking network settings in Windows Device Manager, updating/reinstalling drivers from HP or the card vendor, using HP help tools, doing BIOS tweaks, and so on. Around half of the people I've seen on forums never get the problem fixed.
All of this, and my own experiences, is why I suspect that the real issue lies with the Omen's internal architecture, in that the heat it puts out is causing thermal throttling of the WiFi card.
I'm getting a good cooling pad ASAP and will hope for the best.
I wonder how many more years it will take before you can just buy a computer and have it do what you bought it for. PCs have been around for 30+ years and the internet for 25 years, but you still can't even do something as simple as connecting to the internet without serious issues every time you buy a new computer or upgrade something.
I just bought this today after the purchase and now using it. im using the 120hz panel one.
screen is pretty okay in my opinion, since I draw, edit and play as well. I have no regrets.
omg thanks for the CHN subtitle Dave, nice one!!
BTW he said he didn't like the color scheme however it has a built in program so you can change the colors to anything you want, blue, green, orange, yellow, pink... whatever. you can even change the lighted X on the cover to any color, separate from the keyboard so you can have a blue X green keyboard etc...
That's only on the 2018 model but not for this late one
I got the HP Omen 2016 and its absolutely amazing for me. I dont understand why people are having problems with it. I love it!
I sometimes just watch your videos on products I'm not even interested in just because I like your content and quality haha, keep it up man
I've purchased an Omen with an i7-8750H and a GTX1060, and the only drawback imo is the display. However, I only use it by itself while traveling or during classes, and my dorm has all the extra peripherals including an Acer display, so it still works wonders.
I just bought this laptop 1.5 months ago. The old version I guess. I only paid $1,300. When I price the same features on the mid 2017 model it runs up to $1,700. What's the difference? Here are my specs:
HP OMEN - 15t Laptop

Just got the 120hz model with gtx 1060 6gb and its absolutely amazing. Runs pretty much anything
Thx, this is all I need. I would not have found out about how much better the 120Hrtz panel is than the regular one. I guess it's a little bit expensive
I just got the 2018 version,17.3" diagonal FHD 144 Hz display, NVIDIA ® GeForce® GTX 1060 (6GB dedicated) video card, 16 GB memory; 1 TB HDD; 16 GB Intel® Optane™ Memory for storage acceleration, 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor which runs at normal speed of 2.2 ghz, but as fast as 4.1 ghz!!! ( as needed depending on what game your playing. ) I paid $1,200.00 for it and worth every penny! I love my now HP OMEN!!!
i have the 1060 variant for 17 inch with 120 hz monitor way more stable than alienware and damn powerful worth the buy and heat management is decent overall . A purchase I will never regret
Just bought the 2016-look 7700HQ, 1050Ti, and 4k screen model for €1299. I prefer the old desigh and the 4k screen is really amazing with great color and quick responding speed.
I have the 15" 1060 version with the 120hz panel. The only complaint that I have is the fans kicking in a little too often as Dave pointed out, but apart from that, I am satisfied with it. I don't know why some people here are complaining about it being bulky since it is almost exactly the same size as the Lenovo y520, but has better internals and display.
I should add that i got it with a student discount, which made the price quite competitive
Hey any comments about the battery life and temps?
I have had the basic laptop for about 2 days and this is what I have to say about it:
its great for running open world games at high graphics. ive been playing:nether, h1z1, gmod and a little bit of mc. all games except nether played well at max settings.
the laptop was heating up pretty good after 2 hours of gaming king of the kill.
the resolution isnt bad at all. and would i recommend it? yes. its really good. better than a 700$ build that a family member has and he can play lots of games.
You can get the HP Omen 17t (I know that's large but if size isn't extremely important bear with me) with a 1060 6GB, 7700HQ, 1080p IPS 120Hz screen, and 86 Wh battery for $1139.99!!!!! GREAT PRICE!!!
got mine with the 1050ti for $950 new. Ive never owned a gaming laptop before, so so far i love it
I'm going to buy the one with 4k screen and gtx 1060 max q. I really like the design and in love with the keyboard.
Right now, I'm setting up my ideal config for this and with the 120hz screen, 16gb of RAM, the i7-7700 & 1050 Ti w/ 4 GB of GDDR5, and the 256 GB SSD, it's only about $1,180 which seems like a pretty decent deal imo. Idk if they've cut the price but atm it seems priced well.
I kinda like your reviews, you're quite good at what you do and you have an enjoyable voice.
please dont give up those vector presentations, they look awesome :)
I can buy 60Hz FHD for 755€, it is not so many options here in Slovakia. HP Omen 15-ce005nc cost 785€ but high chance to get one with TN panel. parameters on both are almost the same, HP have 256SSD+1T classic disc, DELL, only 256SSD.
I bought the one with 16gb ram, i7, 1050ti and 120hz screen.
*ABSOLUTELY AMAZING*
HP has a sell on the 17" 120hz Omen with a GTX 1070 for only $1349. Cheapest 1070 I have found with a 120hz screen!
Ronald Regan pffff where dude? I think u mean 2349....
Love the sophisticated design and visuals are always important for players.
Dude for me you are the best youtuber for tech . If anyone asks me about tech i whould tell them about you
RX580 model worked for 3 days. Now it keeps crashing about 15 to 20 minutes into a game. Forces restart
its way better now that it is way cheaper for the base model (870$ on newegg) and the 1080p panel is WAY better then before.i'd recommend this for late 2017/early to mid 2018.
Friends of the model Ce002La, problem with the battery drainning that only lasts 2 hours 20 minutes with the minimum brightness and reduced the processor, if you see this and have this problem, try to calibrate the battery and unfortunately only use it when you do not have it connected to current because otherwise the battery will last very shortly, but if they try to play connected to the current they can do it but they will have to do a calibration and continue avoiding using it while it is connected to power, an HP technician told me that it is normal to last 2 hours 1/2 for this model, as it explains that the battery lasts for 6 hours, of normal use when I do not have it connected to the power, but THAT, once I connect it to power and use it at the same time, it lasts again 2 hours 1/2 indefinitely until you apply a calibration to the battery that consists of completely discharging and charging while it is off.
Iv had my omen laptop for a while (2 years+) and I have loved it all the way through. Only problems I had was a recent dent in the cooling fans protective casing that stopped the fan from moving and that was caused by a hard fall and was easy enough to fix.
I loved the way of presenting things Dave.Keep it up.
I got myself a 15.6" version of the 2017 HP omen, it looks like this one only that the battery is crap, it's my first game laptop so I can cut it some slack though I use it for graphics production. It's a gtx1060 6gb with max-q and some 16gbs of ram with 128 ssd and 2tb HDD. I love even even though I wanted a 17"
Finally they fixed those small arrow keys.
Thanks for the video.
I never could get warm with the design of HP's laptops, even the spectre which looks more like jewelry than a modern sleek laptop.
Thick and moderate fan noise sure, but what about thermals? Surely that's something to keep in mind too
i love the change in intros so cool
I think I saw Dave Lee at Marché two days ago in Toronto with his family
Finally!
Been waiting for this laptop for you to review.
Thank You Dave ;)
This guy always does really thorough reviews
