I must admit that I was getting obsessed about getting a palm branch for this Sunday. But this video reminded me that what matters the most is what is in my heart.
Three years ago my husband and I celebrated Palm Sunday mass in Sorrento, Italy. The people at mass had these beautiful decorated olive branches. The families took such pride in their decorated branches. The procession was one of the most moving thing I had ever experienced, I felt so close to God and His Son. Thank you for your wonderful messages.
Few years back I use olive and conifer & conifer branches in Melbourne Australia. We do use palm too. Thank you Father Meyer God bless you. You are in my prayer.
Dear father Thank you, palm or evergreen branch, Almighty God knows our heart. I will present myself with an evergreen branch and I know the Good Lord will smile. Peace
Thank you Father. My neighbor has a PALM TREE ! I'm asking for a branch from it to affix to my front door. Hopefully it will serve as a silent witness to other neighbors as they walk dogs past my home. A way to telegraph that THIS HOUSE SHALL SERVE THE LORD. 🌴🌿🌴🌿🌴🌿🌴🌿🌴🌿🌴🌿🌴 HOSANNA !
Thank you Father for this lovely idea, and helping me to participate at a deeper level in this weekend's mass. I'm in Los Angeles and listen to your messages regularly.
I found a spruce tree branch that blew off from my neighbors tree on my lawn a few days ago, and now it has found a new a purpose! Thank you for your wisdom and inspiration.
Due to your video, which I sent to my parish via email, it caused me to pause and do some serious soul pondering which made me write the following as a preface to sharing your video. You have opened the windows to let the Spirit and fresh air in as Pope St. John the XXIII did with the Second Vatican Council. Thank you! This is my preface. Take a listen! For those who will be watching Mass from St. Dorothy Catholic Community tomorrow at 11:10am this is for you. Yes, I will be blessing Palm Crosses but you can get a branch and they will be blessed as well. When we start saying oh no the priest has to do it or we have to be in church are we not putting limitations on the power of God or saying that God/Jesus has to do it this way? The same holds true for the Eucharist/Communion. When watching have bread and wine/grape juice there so that when that part of the Mass comes and the words of institution are said who are we to say that through your belief that the elements in front of you do not become the Body and Blood of Jesus. During these times as Father reminds us we are to be creative/outside of the box to be ambassadors of our faith. As we say every Sunday we take it “out there”. We now have to be creative on how we take it “out there”. We have to take a new look at what faith and belief means right now and what sacrament truly means. Hope to see you tomorrow at Mass and on Thursday and Friday at 7pm. Pax et Bonum!
Great idea Father! You are amazing thanks ! Let’s celebrate especially this year! Let’s welcome our lord back in our lives eventually in the churches but most of all in the hearts who have been dull and senses supressed in our society!
Thank you Fr. Meyer. It's true, no palm branch, no problem! In my region we never had palms trees. We had some other nice green branches. Even olive ones came recently. So thank you for reminding us what is really important. God bless!
We don’t have palms because our church’s closed down. I have been to church’s where pews are taped off to keep proper distance from each other. We can have mass and be safe: distance, gloves and masks, but our shepherds say no. I hope soon they will be willing to come out of “the upper room”. God Bless us all.
Isn't part of the beauty of the branch is it is blessed? The type of branch doesn't matter but it will be sad that it will not have the special blessing from a priest!🥺
I have some white pine trees that need cut down. Lol you bet we’ll be using them. I think it will be sweet as it will make a connection to the coming of Christ at Christmas as well.
My friend brought me some tips of palm branches and tied them to my door handle. Later on I taped them further up my door so that they would be better seen. (I live in a sub-tropical area so palms are everywhere)
Thank you Father for this. Father Covid -19 is first and foremost a disease of the throat. It is where it gathers first and it is how it spreads. Can you give us a prayer we can offer to St. Blaise asking for protection for us and healing for those infected?
I'm glad i found your RUclips channel Father being able to see Mass LIVE, Traditional vs Novus Ordo. I had been listening on SiriusXM channel 130 provided by Eternal World Network in Alabama. You also give the best Homilies; I told my Sister about this channel
I am Eastern Orthodox in the Russian church they do not use palms they use pussy willow branches. In Romania they also do not use palms they use basil. My Palm Sunday is next week so I will go to the park and see if there are any pussy willows, if not my lilac bush is starting to sprout leaves.
Funny story, a few days ago I asked a nun what must I do to be saved and get to heaven just to see her answer. She said all I have to do is be good, and do good works. I said oh really, what if I'm a muslim and dont believe in Jesus can I still go to heaven. She said yes. I quickly asked the Holy Spirit in my mind what I should respond to her. So I revealed to her that I was actually a former catholic and why i left. I mentioned John 14:6 to her, that jesus is the way the truth and the life, and is the only way to heaven. I also told her the bible says, he who hath the son hath life he who hath not the son hath not life. She heard what I said but ignored it, and said "it's not about Jesus". We talked more and ended on a good note, but my point was to show her how far removed catholics have become from the simple gospel. ITS ALL ABOUT JESUS! Jesus died for our sins so that we can go to heaven. We have to believe on him. Praise the Lord
I think we have to be careful that we do not become like the Scribes and Pharisees. I do not like that the Churches are closed, but just like the time when Mary found her son preaching in the temple...she did not understand, but accepted it. We need to sometimes accept what we don't understand. Like Mary, we need to trust Jesus even when we don't like it. The most important thing is not to let our faith weaken...that is what Satan is waiting for. We shall overcome!🙏💕
This palmless Sunday's strikes at the very core of Catholic sentiment, yes we dont need palm, but it's so much a part of our identity, not recieving them will cause much spiritual pain to the faith of the people. This will cause great harm to the health of our church
All Saints Parish - Sunday Homilies I understand. Leave them outside on a table like my church is doing. Diocese never said this. It’s up to the priest what he wants to do.
You are such a help to me during this time, Fr. Jonathan. Thank you & God bless you!!
Thank you Father Jonathan.
Thank you Father for thinking outside the box!

I live in Southern Arizona we don't have any leafy branches.
I was thinking of cutting up sage brush...just seems wrong.
Thank you Father for this. Father Covid -19 is first and foremost a disease of the throat. It is where it gathers first and it is how it spreads. Can you give us a prayer we can offer to St. Blaise asking for protection for us and healing for those infected?
Thank you Father, just a day late...lol

Where can I get olive branches Fr Jonathan? 🤣 God bless 🌴 Palm 🍃 Sunday
It’s missing out on a Sacramental. Ironically, this will be the first year I get a blessed palm in five years.
We love you
I am terrified of dying
Be not afraid.....GOD LOVES YOU
Father, aren’t the branches have to be blessed?... or it’s ok to use them without been blessed?
Bless you father! 🙏
Lolis Ramirez I have some Holy Water, but I think I’d better save that in case we get sick and need a blessing.
Can I bless the branches with holy water, even if I am not a priest?
@@josephsand363 sort of but not the same as a priest's blessing
Joseph Sand no b

What’s that skull? Is that a relic?
They sale palm crosses at my grocery store price rite I got one but I understand the message.
We do need the Palm Sunday Mass. No bishop or priest should denied us the sacraments.
I think we have to be careful that we do not become like the Scribes and Pharisees. Unfortunately, more will be upset about no palm than no Holy Communion or being together under one roof for Mass.
I will be using a pine branch from a pine tree next to my house 🌲 ...I will look like a weirdo in my family...
I went to cut a branch from my geraniums, if they're good enough for E.T. then they're good enough for me!
No poison ivy though. Lol
Now you tell me. Used to be you don't need to read the bible by yourself.
This palmless Sunday's strikes at the very core of Catholic sentiment, yes we dont need palm, but it's so much a part of our identity, not recieving them will cause much spiritual pain to the faith of the people. This will cause great harm to the health of our church
Shrubbery!
Well they are being left in my church and we do need them. So please stop appeasing us. Please stop watering down the faith. I will get mine. Pax.
Many diocese are not allowing them to be passed out ... blessings
