I was born and raised Lutheran and the more I dive into the bible the more it looks like the Catholic church has all the right answers. I long to be Catholic and be part of a world wide church, that honors life and has options for women to have a vocation within the church. I long for leadership that oversees the churches and keeps them on the right track. I want to hear about the Saints back through history and all the great miracles that have happened. I as a Lutheran only hear about Martin Luther and quite frankly I'm not so proud of that anymore. I wish he never broke away and I was back within the Catholic church. I am currently starting the process to become Catholic. I want to follow Jesus to the Lord's supper in a real way! My faith is leading me back to the Catholic church!

You don’t want a reply. Your borage or rapid firing questions would require a a theological thesis. It’s evident that you aren’t posing sincere questions but firing your pre-programmed accusations fed to you by your Catholic hating pastor. The tactic is the same old tired tactic posed to Catholics for years. If you were being truthful and seeking answers or a dialogue that would be one thing but that’s not what you’re doing and every Catholic knows it and simply refuse to waste time with someone whose mission is to attack our faith and refuse to hear a word we say because you have no intention to understand. Awesome sermon! I personally am not Catholic but I admire the boldness that Father Meyer has in his faith and I wish more of my fellow protestants understood that Catholics are not idolatrous pagans. To anyone who reads this, I hope you have a wonderful day, and God Bless.

The RC church idolises dead bodies. Exhumes them removes their hearts so that they can be worshipped on altars in churches. If they do want to make them saints then ok but let their bodies rest in peace. Stop putting them in glass cases just to bring people to view them.

Well I just saw you on the catholic answers stream if you remember, I myself am currently a protestant, but this sect is starting to seem wrong to me, and I have been studying catholic and orthodox a lot lately. For V2... clearly that was a big turning point. However, some catholics insist it isn't a doctrinal problem, but rather what the council has been used for. Ie; it can be easily twisted. And perhaps that was the reason for its invention in the first place. For me the V2 does indeed seem a but sinister itself, but I imagine this would be the catholic defence. Anybody denying it has been used to create a nightmare is delusional or a liar. Why don't you join the Eastern Orthodox (this is not me making a suggestion, I am actually just fishing for your reason for my own information and study purpose. Apart from a few remaining doctrinal problems, it is starting to seem like I should join one or the other. Maybe you can assist)?
@@johnjames1590 The Orthodox embrace the teachings of Palamas (divine energies which are different from the substance [ουσια] and his definition of theosis) and I therefore would not join them. There was a time when I was more Orthodox-leaning, especially when reading the Greek church fatheea defending the Deity of Christ during the Arian crisis. There even was a short time when I was more Protestant-leaning. And I actually do think that the Bible is all you/a Christian needs. However, if you study the first Protestants (Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Melanchthon) you really start to see how they perverted the gospel. Let me make one thing clear though. The average Protestant who doesn't know better and trusts in Christ is a sister/brother in Christ for me. That's one of the reasons I'm not a convinced Catholic. I don't like the idea of extra ecclesiam nulla salus (and the idea of a Pope in the Catholic sense too). So what I'm looking for is a church that just follows the Bible, period. Without anathematizing other Christians. Without Luther's sola fide and justification doctrine. And since most/almost all non-denominational churches/communities are Protestant, I stay in the Roman-Catholic Church. I at least agree with the Catholics on the 2 most important doctrines of Christianity: the Trinity and the gospel/salvation/justification. There's one channel I'd like to recommend you: vaticancatholic I disagree with the Sedevacantist position (extra ecclesiam nulla salus), but they have good videos on pure Catholicism and Vat2.

U.S. really needs a Priest who can preaches with the bible to all the protestants and all the other religions, likes padre Luis Toro is preaching in central and south America.
I'd say the U.S. really needs God and is beginning to more collectively reject God. We have many good priests with varying gifts; many of those with an extraordinary ability to preach. But their abilities aren't going to matter if they are in a field by themselves preaching to trees (unless they are St. Anthony). Only the Lord can penetrate through hardened hearts.

As a "protestant" (not sure if the word really defines me) I have to acknowledge that father Meyer was definitely inspired by the Holy Spirit when writing this sermon. And it's true we are filled with misconceptions, and we do share a lot of common ground. I believe we should work together more often, be tolerant, respectful, and above all praise God as one.
If you're not Roman catholic then they consider you a heretic. In times past they would have persecuted you and killed you for your current beliefs. Its the opposite of the genuine church described in the New Testament.

A person cannot call herself a Christian if doubts Jesus words in the Last Super and does not believe that the Eucharist is the Living God. Jesus is present in the Eucharist and that is the Christianity's core.
Christ be with you I find most Protestants do no understand what we are told in 1 Cor 10:16-18. It reveals the Mass is a sacrifice,. To partake of this sacrifice we eat that which is sacrificed. The only way we can do that is if it is actually his body and blood we receive. At the last supper Jesus turned his execution into a sacrifice for our sins. God bless you

Good Jesus was talking literally during the last supper should we still cut our hand off to make sure we get to have because if the hand cause you to sin than cut it off? But the hand doesn't not sin alone. The mind tells it to sin. So with the mind helping the hand sins should we take our own life? Of course not!!! You forgot a very important one (which was the most convicting ti me as a protestant), which is "Where is that in the Bible?" . the question Catholics can ask protestants is "Where did you get your bible?" That was the most eye-opening for me.

Clearly, as Abraham was the progenitor of the Jewish faith, and Jesus was Himself a Jew (in the line of Judah), His statement had no relevance regarding a priest in a church. No one is reported to have called Peter father except, we can suppose, his biological children. Calling a priest “father” doesn’t trouble me, a non-Catholic, but it does many who read Scripture as they believe it’s written. I can’t blame them for following what they believe to be true, any more than I can dislike Catholics for following church tradition.
Actually, Jesus was referring to Abraham in the way Jews of his time did, calling Abraham 'our Father' as they traditionally also refer to Rachel as 'mother of the Jewish people'. Rather, Christ is re-identifying for all that God is Father, the true 'Our Father' after whom his ministry is fashioned, and out of that, through the Holy Spirit, he introduces us to Mary as mother, in lieu of Rachel and of Eve. Remember that he was speaking then to a strictly Jewish audience who would understand what he says in the context of Jewish and rabbinical traditions. Avinu Abraham is the actual Hebrew used which Christ teaches that Elohim is Avinu.

I don’t understand why Evangelicals, who supposedly take the Bible literally, don’t believe Jesus was speaking literally when He says, “This is my body” and “This is my blood” and “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” Protestants claim that Jesus was speaking symbolically, not literally when He said that. But that doesn’t jive with their practice of interpreting the Bible literally. I recently saw a RUclips video of a speech given by Protestant pastors. Someone asked them if Roman Catholicism is a cult. (???) The pastor hemmed and hawed around. You could tell that he wanted to say that yes, it is a cult, but he was too cautious to open that can of worms. So he said that his definition of a cult is a group of people being led by one person who has authority over the group and the group is to believe everything that this person says and everybody is supposed to believe the same thing or words to that effect. To get his answer, you have to read between the lines and understand that the so-called cult leader that everyone is supposed to believe is the Pope.
Actually, from what I've seen, the pastor's would rather say no, but then he'd loose his congregation. Pastors accept whatever teachings that their congregation wants to hear in order to keep their job.
Mark Duett - That sounds plausible. These two pastors give lots of speeches about all kinds of things in front of a large audience. Then the videos go on RUclips. I don’t know if they’re wealthy or not or whether or not they get paid for these speeches, but I’m pretty sure that they’re telling the people what they want to hear. This isn’t the first video of theirs in which they’ve dodged a question and are dancing around it instead of giving a straight answer.
Travis Mull - For one thing, it is not necessary to be rude. I may have taken your last sentence the wrong way, but it sounded rude to me and I don’t want to have an ugly argument. For another thing, I don’t know which denomination of Protestant you are and there’s absolutely no way for me to know all the specific beliefs of every religion or of every denomination of Protestantism. And, for yet another thing, in my first sentence, I said “Evangelicals”, such as Baptists and Church of Christ. I don’t know if you’re an Evangelical or not. Not all Protestants, like Episcopalians and Lutherans, for example, are Evangelicals. I’ve known lots of Evangelicals, like Baptists. And there are several Church of Christ members in my family. My uncle was a Church of Christ preacher and so is my cousin’s husband. My niece’s father-in-law is a Christian Church preacher. I know for a fact that none of those three preachers believe that the bread and wine, or the crackers and grape juice as the case may be, turns into Jesus’ body and blood. For them, it’s symbolic and not literal. And that was my question.

After the reformation (I call revolt), the churches split and split until everyone was almost their own church. He had a good graphic. As a protestant i find this very interesting. We do take communion and the lord is clear the wine is his blood and the bread his body broken for us, but hebrews is also clear christ was offered once for sin. I think the whole mary thing was skipped over , we honor mary, the word says blessed is she among women im yet to meet a fellow believer who despises Mary. And how can you be more honoured than to carry and raise the saviour of the world. But it ends there with honor. Only two days ago a man claiming to be a Protestant Pastor came to talk the right Church with me ofcourse as all protestants, he had his points to accuse the Catholics. As you know how the Protestants first go on babling about idol worshipping and Mother Mary, I reminded him of the last wish of Jesus in Jn.19:25-27. And that we in the Eastern world respect mother and father of our best friend or wife/husband. So if Jesus considered us as His FRIENDS then we should respect the Mother of Jesus especially when Jesus Himself specifically said 'Mother here is your son and to His favourite disciple Jesus said here is your MOTHER'. The Church of Jesus established on the Rock Foundation of (Simion now changed to Peter = Rock) But they interprete that the Rock is Jesus Himself and I asked him how he would enter his own house if he did not have the KEY, he stumbled to give the correct answer. Then I told him if the rock was Jesus Himself then how is it that Jesus gave the KEY OF HEAVEN to Peter. And without being a believer of Jesus through His own Church taken care of by His appointed Earthly Leader Peter how will the Protestants enter the Heaven, is it through the window like a thief ,? So he could not answer and walked away. I have to give you a friendly reminder that Catholics are Christian. I think you need to put more of an emphasis on that in your homilies. I live in South Carolina, a lot of people think the word Christian means Protestant. I also know my Bible fairly well, this is why I can go toe-to-toe with Protestants in debate, and it's not an arrogant thing, it's just part of the culture of where I live. He is wrong when he says we memorize wanted to scriptures. You must take the whole Bible in context. Know where in the Bible it says that Peter was the pope. Nowhere does it venerate Mary in the Bible. In fact Jesus takes the focus off Mary and puts it on the father. When the apostles asked how should we pray he said our father not hail Mary. There is no such place as purgatory.when Jesus spoke to the thief on the cross he said this day you shall be with me in Paradise. It did not say someday after purgatory. For Christ died on to send once and once and for all. There are no good works you need to do on top of the grace to have eternal life. To add to what Christ did at Calvary is to disgrace Christ work and atoning blood.
Mistake #1 The word father never appears in the book of Philemon. And when Jesus said call no man father, in context, it is a spiritual reference. It does not apply to your biological father. You can see this all throughout the Bible. Whenever the word father is used in a spiritual reference, it is always referencing God. So to call your priest or pastor father is wrong. Mistake #2 The Eucharist, when Jesus said that the bread was His body and the wine was His blood, He spoke symbolically, if it was meant to be literal, then Jesus would have broken God's law because the law states that consuming blood is a sin ( Leviticus 17:11-14). As far as Mary goes, there is a difference between honor and worship. In the book of Esther, it says that to bow before something is to worship it, and you see that reiterated in the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abendago. So yes Catholics, according to the Bible do worship Mary. Now on to confessions. The Bible says to confess your sins to God, nowhere does it say to confess them to the church or to a man. A good example of this would be when King David committed fornication with Bathsheba. Now baptism, it is reserved for those who have made a profession of faith in Christ. Infants are not capable of this. You can see a good example of this in Acts 8.

I was born and raised Lutheran and the more I dive into the bible the more it looks like the Catholic church has all the right answers. I long to be Catholic and be part of a world wide church, that honors life and has options for women to have a vocation within the church. I long for leadership that oversees the churches and keeps them on the right track. I want to hear about the Saints back through history and all the great miracles that have happened. I as a Lutheran only hear about Martin Luther and quite frankly I'm not so proud of that anymore. I wish he never broke away and I was back within the Catholic church. I am currently starting the process to become Catholic. I want to follow Jesus to the Lord's supper in a real way! My faith is leading me back to the Catholic church!

For V2... clearly that was a big turning point. However, some catholics insist it isn't a doctrinal problem, but rather what the council has been used for. Ie; it can be easily twisted. And perhaps that was the reason for its invention in the first place. For me the V2 does indeed seem a but sinister itself, but I imagine this would be the catholic defence. Anybody denying it has been used to create a nightmare is delusional or a liar.
Why don't you join the Eastern Orthodox (this is not me making a suggestion, I am actually just fishing for your reason for my own information and study purpose. Apart from a few remaining doctrinal problems, it is starting to seem like I should join one or the other. Maybe you can assist)?

There was a time when I was more Orthodox-leaning, especially when reading the Greek church fatheea defending the Deity of Christ during the Arian crisis.
There even was a short time when I was more Protestant-leaning. And I actually do think that the Bible is all you/a Christian needs.
However, if you study the first Protestants (Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Melanchthon) you really start to see how they perverted the gospel. Let me make one thing clear though. The average Protestant who doesn't know better and trusts in Christ is a sister/brother in Christ for me. That's one of the reasons I'm not a convinced Catholic. I don't like the idea of extra ecclesiam nulla salus (and the idea of a Pope in the Catholic sense too).
So what I'm looking for is a church that just follows the Bible, period. Without anathematizing other Christians. Without Luther's sola fide and justification doctrine. And since most/almost all non-denominational churches/communities are Protestant, I stay in the Roman-Catholic Church. I at least agree with the Catholics on the 2 most important doctrines of Christianity: the Trinity and the gospel/salvation/justification.

I'd say the U.S. really needs God and is beginning to more collectively reject God. We have many good priests with varying gifts; many of those with an extraordinary ability to preach. But their abilities aren't going to matter if they are in a field by themselves preaching to trees (unless they are St. Anthony). Only the Lord can penetrate through hardened hearts.

As a "protestant" (not sure if the word really defines me) I have to acknowledge that father Meyer was definitely inspired by the Holy Spirit when writing this sermon. And it's true we are filled with misconceptions, and we do share a lot of common ground. I believe we should work together more often, be tolerant, respectful, and above all praise God as one.
If you're not Roman catholic then they consider you a heretic. In times past they would have persecuted you and killed you for your current beliefs. Its the opposite of the genuine church described in the New Testament.

If so then church gave you the truth, the church Christ established and promises the "gates of hell shall not overcome it" (Matthew 16:18) so it would be calling christ a liar the Catholic church that is founded by Christ to have lost it's authority. Moreover the beautiful inspired word of God, complied in the bible, was possible to be known and avaible by sacred tradition of the Catholic Church. As it I written in 1 Timothy 3:15 " if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth." How are you supposed to "test all things" and "test the Spirits" if certain things (the pope and church) are off limits for being wrong? How can you test them if you aren't allowed to believe they are in error? Even Peter needed rebuke after Pentecost and Paul said "even if we" when warning of false gospels.

Being saved by Grace does NOT mean that we are saved by God giving us enough grace to work enough to get to heaven, being saved by grace is opposed to being saved by works. It's is the opposite of works being involved. IT IS THE OPPOSITE OF MERIT.

Ok, its obvious Fr Johnathan Meyer cleverly dodged the real critical questions. For example, the first question, do you have a personal relationship with Jesus. Well do you? Take the apostles, for example, each had a direct relationship with Jesus. Its what Jesus wants from each and everyone of us. Its *NOT* about doing good works as a means to earn your salvation. Jesus wants you to believe in Him (read John 3 or John 6). Why is it that Catholics believe the bread and wine actually transform into the literal body and blood of Jesus? Jesus was not talking in a literal sense, it was figurative. Its exactly like in John 15. Jesus says he is the true vine, God the Father is the gardener, you and I are the branches. Are we REALLY ought to believe we should go up to a vine next time and call it Jesus? Go to a gardener and call him “father” or think we are literal branches??? NOOOO! So why are you eating the literal BODY and BLOOD of Jesus? Are you cannibals? NOOOOOO!!!! The body is nourishment, and in Jewish tradition, they understood that life is in the blood. What Jesus was saying is I will SPIRITUALLY feed you and give you life. Jesus often spoke in parables as analogies, so he can teach people simply while simultaneously make foolish the proud.

And Jesus himself called Abraham 'Father Abraham' in his own parable about the poor man Lazarus.
Clearly, as Abraham was the progenitor of the Jewish faith, and Jesus was Himself a Jew (in the line of Judah), His statement had no relevance regarding a priest in a church. No one is reported to have called Peter father except, we can suppose, his biological children. Calling a priest “father” doesn’t trouble me, a non-Catholic, but it does many who read Scripture as they believe it’s written. I can’t blame them for following what they believe to be true, any more than I can dislike Catholics for following church tradition.

Actually, Jesus was referring to Abraham in the way Jews of his time did, calling Abraham 'our Father' as they traditionally also refer to Rachel as 'mother of the Jewish people'. Rather, Christ is re-identifying for all that God is Father, the true 'Our Father' after whom his ministry is fashioned, and out of that, through the Holy Spirit, he introduces us to Mary as mother, in lieu of Rachel and of Eve. Remember that he was speaking then to a strictly Jewish audience who would understand what he says in the context of Jewish and rabbinical traditions. Avinu Abraham is the actual Hebrew used which Christ teaches that Elohim is Avinu.

I don’t understand why Evangelicals, who supposedly take the Bible literally, don’t believe Jesus was speaking literally when He says, “This is my body” and “This is my blood” and “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” Protestants claim that Jesus was speaking symbolically, not literally when He said that. But that doesn’t jive with their practice of interpreting the Bible literally.
I recently saw a RUclips video of a speech given by Protestant pastors. Someone asked them if Roman Catholicism is a cult. (???) The pastor hemmed and hawed around. You could tell that he wanted to say that yes, it is a cult, but he was too cautious to open that can of worms. So he said that his definition of a cult is a group of people being led by one person who has authority over the group and the group is to believe everything that this person says and everybody is supposed to believe the same thing or words to that effect. To get his answer, you have to read between the lines
and understand that the so-called cult leader that everyone is supposed to believe is the Pope.
Actually, from what I've seen, the pastor's would rather say no, but then he'd loose his congregation. Pastors accept whatever teachings that their congregation wants to hear in order to keep their job.

I don’t know if they’re wealthy or not or whether or not they get paid for these speeches, but I’m pretty sure that they’re telling the people what they want to hear. This isn’t the first video of theirs in which they’ve dodged a question and are dancing around it instead of giving a straight answer.

For another thing, I don’t know which denomination of Protestant you are and there’s absolutely no way for me to know all the specific beliefs of every religion or of every denomination of Protestantism.
And, for yet another thing, in my first sentence, I said “Evangelicals”, such as Baptists and Church of Christ. I don’t know if you’re an Evangelical or not. Not all Protestants, like Episcopalians and Lutherans, for example, are Evangelicals. I’ve known lots of Evangelicals, like Baptists. And there are several Church of Christ members in my family. My uncle was a Church of Christ preacher and so is my cousin’s husband. My niece’s father-in-law is a Christian Church preacher. I know for a fact that none of those three preachers believe that the bread and wine, or the crackers and grape juice as the case may be, turns into Jesus’ body and blood. For them, it’s symbolic and not literal. And that was my question.

Jordan Peterson describe the Christian religion this way. He said that there was originally one church. After the reformation (I call revolt), the churches split and split until everyone was almost their own church. He had a good graphic. Interestingly enough, if you are not familiar with Jordan Peterson he is a youtube contributor, Not a professed Christian and is a clinical Psychologist. He did an extensive study of the old testament and packed auditoriums with audiences to hear them. They put many 'biblical scholars" to shame.

As a protestant i find this very interesting. We do take communion and the lord is clear the wine is his blood and the bread his body broken for us, but hebrews is also clear christ was offered once for sin. I think the whole mary thing was skipped over , we honor mary, the word says blessed is she among women im yet to meet a fellow believer who despises Mary. And how can you be more honoured than to carry and raise the saviour of the world. But it ends there with honor. The bible doesnt make her queen of heaven and there is one mediator between God and man Jesus christ.. God hasnt appointed a pope He has given His word and it says christ is the head of the church. I love that we have a choice to participate in our salvation. I don't believe that all you have to believe. I believe that Christ's death and resurrection is enough but I also believe that we can join Christ in that salvation.

Only two days ago a man claiming to be a Protestant Pastor came to talk the right Church with me ofcourse as all protestants, he had his points to accuse the Catholics. As you know how the Protestants first go on babling about idol worshipping and Mother Mary, I reminded him of the last wish of Jesus in Jn.19:25-27. And that we in the Eastern world respect mother and father of our best friend or wife/husband. So if Jesus considered us as His FRIENDS then we should respect the Mother of Jesus especially when Jesus Himself specifically said 'Mother here is your son and to His favourite disciple Jesus said here is your MOTHER'. The Church of Jesus established on the Rock Foundation of (Simion now changed to Peter = Rock) But they interprete that the Rock is Jesus Himself and I asked him how he would enter his own house if he did not have the KEY, he stumbled to give the correct answer. Then I told him if the rock was Jesus Himself then how is it that Jesus gave the KEY OF HEAVEN to Peter. And without being a believer of Jesus through His own Church taken care of by His appointed Earthly Leader Peter how will the Protestants enter the Heaven, is it through the window like a thief ,? So he could not answer and walked away. Then I told him that the the purpose of becoming Christian is to have EVERLASTING LIFE IN HEAVEN,BUT ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE THE HEAVEN HAS A DOOR AND A VERY NARROW DOOR OF WHICH THE KEEPER OF THE KEY IS PETER BY AUTHORITY OF JESUS. He just could not answer and walked away.

I have to give you a friendly reminder that Catholics are Christian. I think you need to put more of an emphasis on that in your homilies. I live in South Carolina, a lot of people think the word Christian means Protestant. I also know my Bible fairly well, this is why I can go toe-to-toe with Protestants in debate, and it's not an arrogant thing, it's just part of the culture of where I live. Catholics need to know their Bible, a lot more than they do. Keep in mind, I am Catholic so I'm just giving you advice that I've learnt. God bless!

He is wrong when he says we memorize wanted to scriptures. You must take the whole Bible in context. Know where in the Bible it says that Peter was the pope. Nowhere does it venerate Mary in the Bible. In fact Jesus takes the focus off Mary and puts it on the father. When the apostles asked how should we pray he said our father not hail Mary. There is no such place as purgatory.when Jesus spoke to the thief on the cross he said this day you shall be with me in Paradise. It did not say someday after purgatory. For Christ died on to send once and once and for all. There are no good works you need to do on top of the grace to have eternal life. To add to what Christ did at Calvary is to disgrace Christ work and atoning blood.
Mistake #1 The word father never appears in the book of Philemon. And when Jesus said call no man father, in context, it is a spiritual reference. It does not apply to your biological father. You can see this all throughout the Bible. Whenever the word father is used in a spiritual reference, it is always referencing God. So to call your priest or pastor father is wrong.
Mistake #2 The Eucharist, when Jesus said that the bread was His body and the wine was His blood, He spoke symbolically, if it was meant to be literal, then Jesus would have broken God's law because the law states that consuming blood is a sin ( Leviticus 17:11-14). As far as Mary goes, there is a difference between honor and worship. In the book of Esther, it says that to bow before something is to worship it, and you see that reiterated in the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abendago. So yes Catholics, according to the Bible do worship Mary.
Now on to confessions. The Bible says to confess your sins to God, nowhere does it say to confess them to the church or to a man. A good example of this would be when King David committed fornication with Bathsheba.
Now baptism, it is reserved for those who have made a profession of faith in Christ. Infants are not capable of this. You can see a good example of this in Acts 8.
