Confession always make me feel anxious and vulnerable. But afterwards, you feel so much freedom and peace from Christ. It is truly divine remedy for the soul.
The urge to confess my sins has never been so strong. This Saturday I will go to confession well prepared. I live in Auburn California. My priest is named father innocent. He spent several years in prison and Africa. This particular priest is full of kindness, compassion and he is all around awesome. He learns thru example.
Sometimes it helps me to go to Confession at another parish, one with a reputation for traditional norms like this priest. I also know a couple of Catholics who have made it a point to ALWAYS go to confession at other parishes than their own, to avoid the remote possibility of being "found out" by their voices, etc. Usually very active parishioners who don't want the possibility of any kind of revelation of identity during confession to interfere with personal relationships with the priests in their own parish. I can understand that position and sometimes do the same myself. The important thing is to just be sure to go.
This was a wonderful homily! One of the best instructions on Confession that I have ever heard! Thank you, Fr. Jonathan Meyer and may God bless you always!
"Doctor of your soul...I wanna know where you're wounded and bring Christ to that". Wow Excellent! Extremely helpful and clearly explained!!! Sharing this for sure. I took notes! Thank you Father! 🙏😊🙏
I like your message. I was going for 8 years . And I returned to the church. Did 3 Confessions Even though I was gone 8 years I did not do a good confession for 40 years I put everything on my phone so I won't forget. And I'm going to mass regularly And I've been going taking Holy communion I've been back for 4 weeks now going to Sunday mass. Now I'm a practicing Catholic I am Perfect If I make a mistake I go to confession and I'm I can keep the list short I'll go once a month.

I am on the path to hell, I am weak against temptation. I don't want to be however. Please please pray for me, I want to stop failing and crucifying God and I want to cooperate with the graces he provides me.
Go to confession as much as you can, brother. And with you act of contrition say you promise to sin no more. And have that firm decision. Even if you fall again that will more rare until you can win over temptation. God gives you the grace, brother, just open your heart to it. God bless you 🙏

I think explaining why you did it would be somewhat different for every person. A sin is a sin is a sin, but why we sin can also be show us certain voids we need to fill up with virtues. After 35 years, just drag yourself in with a notecard, let it all hang out and once you see you've survived, you will understand why you will feel like David dancing with abandon in front of the ark of the covenant!

@Tom Jenkins yeah, but our path to holiness will be much longer and we are told to confess our sins to others. John 20:23 and James 5:16.
@Tom Jenkins imagine how will a person struggle not to sin when they realize they have to say that to someone. We don't really have a fear of God.
@Tom Jenkins you got that one right.
