Yes, but something must be wrong with your GoPro if you can't pull data off using the USB-C on the media mod (I can), also GoPro offers as wrist bound remote similar to the DJI

Nice review. I've been eyeing an action cam for a while, but was hesitant to pull the trigger on GOPRO after seeing so many people complain about the various issues they seem to have. DJI seems to be a much better option for the money. I'm not too worried about audio.....

One of the biggest things I'm in total agreement with is when you said, "The less I have to move all these setting around in the camera, the better." Amen to that. It's such a HUGE pain in the ass. Many times I've just left my stupid helmet cam at home because of having to deal with settings. After watching the entire video, I think it's abundantly clear that the Osmo is superior almost across the board. How long has a single battery lasted for you when recording? That's always been a weak spot with other cameras I've tried.

Just a fun comment for you, when you did the side by side on motorcycle comparisons of the audio quality, I noticed that the DJI camera has a slimming affect on your helmet. This may really mean that the GoPro lens style broadens your helmet, while the DJI delivers a more true to life view from its lens.

Great comparison! DJI has been killing it. That might be my next camera. I'm currently using a GoPro Hero 7 and an Insta360.
I’ve been testing the DJI wireless mic inside my helmet for a bit as a standalone recorder and syncing it in post. I haven't completely worked it out yet, but so far so good.
I like the idea of keeping my cameras waterproof. Still testing…

    Good review. Thanks!
I have had so many problems with both of my GoPro 11’s. Both of them failed (replaced on warranty), and one battery failed (also replaced on warranty). Then, reliability with an external mic into the media mod is maddening. I’m also a moto vlogger, and I’ve collected many videos with unusable audio. And, while riding and filming, one can’t know this until back home reviewing footage. On the other hand, my DJI Osmo action camera (first generation, old camera) has never failed. (Although I’ve never used it for audio.)

  • @glidewithaze

I was drawn between the two and after watching this Vlog I think I am going with DJI Osmo 4 now.... I like how the video looked and like you said at the end you can adjust the audio to your needs sooooo it's a no brainer. I am glad you put this out before I made my purchase with GoPro again

Hi Jess, Thanks for the comparisons on these cameras. There is a huge positive quality difference in the video on the DGI vs GoPro. As for the audio, I think the quality will be enhanced on the DGI once you have a chance to check the other mike that comes with it. If it doesn't improve, the GoPro audio was better here. Wth. Lol.

I just purchased the GoPro 12 and Sena mesh port RED. Which has Bluetooth capability so now the mesh port red connects to the GoPro 12 and records the conversation between all the riders and records the audio directly on to the GoPro 12 footage.

I have to say, the remote would be a HUGE benefit for those of us that are not pros at editing, but just turn on and off for making those spots you want on your ride. Thanks again

I have heard numerous people complain about the wasted time recording with Go Pro cameras because either the camera did not record, the video recording was corrupted or there was no or poor audio. that alone would sour me on purchasing a Go Pro in the future. However, after seeing the comparison you made, I feel that the DJI video quality and overall reliability has me sold on future purchases of The DJI.

I went with the Hero 12. I have 5 GoPros, including that one [and I've put them all on my bike at the same time, fun times!], and I wasn't impressed with the out-of-camera image quality from the DJI. The GoPro also works with their remote, and you can control 5 cameras at once... which I need for my workflow.
I went the other way, though - I have each camera set up for its usual use case, and I have a couple of mirrorless cameras I mix in too. Having a camera for each purpose makes it more of a set-and-forget setup, even if it's more expensive.

Interesting comparison. I do think the DJI sounded better when you talked and the image looked more clear compared to the GoPro. But while riding the GoPro did sounded better if I am not mistaken. I know there's a mic you can connect to the Osmo and that should be super good quality sound as well.
Edit: you are filming with DJI in your videos if I am not mistaken instead of the GoPro, so that audio is super!

  • @twisted_rides

IMO, the DJI Osmo Action 4 is the winner of the side-by-side comparison when riding your motorcycle - coloration, sharpness, and audio. Agree that you need to fine tune the audio gain and perhaps use a wireless mic when the situation necessitates. The Osmo Action 4 was the HANDS-DOWN winner of the low-light video.
Have to get one in my equipment bag! :)

As a matter of fact, I just published my first motovlog and my rode mic connected to my GoPro 11 wasn’t turned on due to my gloved hands. I had to voice over the entire video which worked out ok in the end but im ready to just move on to something else and use my GoPros for recording my Slotcar races which is what I intended the 11’s for anyway and yes, wind noise was a problem without the rode. Also the extra weight on the front of my helmet is a pain.

I've decided to start recording my rides and see what happens. I bought the DJI Mic 2 which connects to the action 4 through Bluetooth, then plugged the sena into the 3.5mm jack (with a splitter) on the mic 2 so I don't have to have the USB door open/off and so it stays waterproof. Also means I should be able to record the audio on the Mic 2 so I have a backup.
Also with the DJI battery case you can use it as a power bank to charge things externally.

  • @Ride_0n

There's a new contender with the insta360 Ace Pro. While a bit large, might be good for moto use. Not sure about external mic use, though. I'm not in the market, so I haven't investigated that heavily. I'm still using a GP Hero7 and a Hero 10.
I record in 4k. It looks better and if I want to crop or zoom in, I have the resolution to keep it from going fuzzy unless do that to the extreme.
Every once in a while, I finish a day's ride at night and the GP's are lagging behind on low light currently. I've little doubt next years Hero 13 will even the playing field in that area, but both DJI and Insta360 outperform the GP12 in low light hands down.
IIRC, you edit in Premiere. I use FCP, so I'm not familiar with what you use, but in FCP, there's a voice isolation option that reduces road/wind noise and makes my onboard voice much better. My GP10 is always loud enough. I have to boost the gain on my DJI Wireless mics to get good levels, though when I use them. For in studio use, I have an UA Apollo Twin X interface and an SM7b mic. I usually have to compress it for my narration and bump the level some, but it sounds great as you'd expect from an SM7b, which is a legendary mic ($400, not cheap, but for a quality mic, that's actually inexpensive).
For your gopro... you should check out the ZGCINE PS-G10 GoPro Charging case for Gopro Hero 10 Hero 9/8/7/6/5 Battery. It's a little large, but it's a powerbank. I cycle through a pair of batteries all day long. It uses an adaptor for GP7 and 8 batteries, but not for 9/10 (I think the 11 and 12 use the same batteries?). I love it. I still carry a 3rd battery as a spare just in case, but it's really rare I need to do more than just rotate a pair of batteries between each camera. When one runs out, the one in the ZGCine is charged up.
I love my DJI drone and I just got the Pocket 3, which is a wierd form factor, but I love it. They seem like a great company to deal with too. I prefer GoPros picture, but they need to be more stable and move to a more easily detachable mount. And I hate having to use the media mod. But using a big dongle for my mic would suck, too.
Good video (as always) and a nice, objective comparison of the two.

  • @icebrakernh
    @icebrakernh 10 месяцев назад

DJI may be the winner for the price and image having the ability to adjust the audio is a plus. Also less corruption is the better option. Having the charger being able to charge via lighter plug on the touring model bikes is the best option. The watch remote is awesome. A big win for DJI.

Unfortunately, it seemed that they were all about getting the initial sale, but as soon as you have any problems, or they put out a newer model, you're left on your own for any service. I for one will never buy another DJI product. For those that do, I wish you good luck. I hope you don't get stuck with a bunch of DJI products that they no longer support.

@@HerTwoWheels My issue, which isn't THAT frequent, but a little too frequent is the camera freezing. Not due to cold, but basically crashing. Won't turn on. Only way to clear it is to pull it out of the media mod (PITA), and pull and reinsert the battery. I will often just start recording while riding and this freezing means I don't know I wasn't recording or I have to find some place to pull over and deal with the problem child, which isn't always an option.

You also forgot to mention AT ALL the Go Pro's advantage of using your Sena or Cardo and using Bluetooth for audio DJI doesn't do that at all... This is a HUGE feature for motorcycle Vloggers..... And you didn't mention it at all..... and it records to your Go Pro without the need of extra hardware and while not perfect it is better than the audio you recorded...... Also there is an adapter that lets you use the DJI's Magnetic mount for your Go Pro..... Go Pro has a Remote as well......
You didn't really think this video out properly did you..... There is a lot of inconsistencies in this video... I know you can do better than this.....

I have never and will never use the bluetooth to record my audio. Hence why it was not mentioned.

Sorry love. I was talking about Mr Nintendo Fanboy here. Keep up the good work, and just ignore the dork comments you get.

@@philread5179 No need to worry about me any more. I unsubscribed and blocked the channel from popping up in my feed. As soon as she said she wasnt interested in providing all the information because she doesn't use it I removed myself. As for the dork comment aimed at me.... Well done on your total maturity.....

@@TheNintendoFanBoy01 LOL! Glad to hear you blocked me. Wish more people would do the same instead of wasting my time posting unnecessary comments. But honestly, I am baffled to hear that you are legitimately upset that someone, who never uses the features you mentioned, did not speak about the features she doesn't use. Do you actually want to hear uneducated information? Or practical uses and experience? Seems like you need to go drool on the tech channels a bit more. This is a motorcycle channel who happens to use tech.
      Bye.
