LEXUS NX350H VS TOYOTA RAV4 HYBRID PROS/CONS COMPARISON

- Both the Lexus NX350h and the Toyota Rav4 Hybrid are really top-selling SUVs. There are lots of similarities and differences between the two. You can say the Lexus is a luxury relative to the Rav4 but both are the TNGA-K platform for the midsize crossover segment.
Today, let's focus our attention on some key differences if you are shopping for one of these. One item that I didn't talk about is the price. The Toyota RAV4 hybrid definitely lower starting base price and that depends on what options are priced out on both vehicles. The comparable would be the RAV4 hybrid XSE or Limited model to the NX 350h model. Both hybrids are listed as AWD models.
A few other observations to note in the comparison:
Fuel Types:
- The Lexus NX350h prefers premium fuel but can use regular and the Toyota Rav4 hybrid lists regular is fine. The price difference is around $10K difference for the Lexus if prefer a quiet interior, better driver-centric layout driving position with the infotainment angled towards the driver. The Toyota Rav4 hybrid is more of an ordinary layout where the infotainment is right in the center (nothing special or wrong with that layout).
Road Noise:
- Road noise is more isolated but nowhere completely quiet in the Lexus NX350h but the Toyota Rav4 hybrid yields more road noise intrusion into the passenger cabin.
Tires:
- The Lexus NX uses the Bridgestone Run-flat tires (no spare) but can run without air for 50 or more miles to the destination without air in most cases
- The Toyota Rav4 Hybrid has conventional tires and a spare under the cargo area.
Sound Systems:
- The NX350h base radio 10 speaker Pioneer appears weak esp for bass. If you want a better sound system, you will need to step up to the Mark Levinson system (mostly in the Luxury package) which can bring the price to around $58K.
- The Toyota Rav4 Hybrid JBL (in XSE and Limited) is really better than the base NX350h sound system and is listed with 11 speakers but not as good as the ML high-end Lexus sound system.

Lesux for sure …. Once you drive a Lesux is very hard to go to anything less than a Lesux . I had a Es300 and have a RX350 they are amazing. My next car will be a Lesux ❤❤❤❤❤

It’s crazy to know that the NX is longer than the RAV4. But the RAV4 looks longer than the NX due to the RAV4’s design.
Rav4 is a little more square so that gives it more space.
Lexus definitely has the luxury feel over the RAV4. I have a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE and just couldn't justify the difference in price for the Lexus with the options I wanted. These may be off the same platform but the styles are so different. I really like the rugged look of the RAV4 but wish there was a trim level where you could get everything on it. The XSE lacks a few things the Limited has but the Limited also lacks the sport-tuned suspension and painted cladding. Too bad Toyota doesn't sell a Limited version where you can get EVERYTHING (including the sport tuned suspension and cladding that is paint matched to the rest of the color of the vehicle. I doubt it would really cost much more to make those changes... if they added more sound dampening I bet Lexus might even lose some sales... and I'm sure they don't want that. 😁
I also have a hard time justify the Lexus and was looking at the Rav4 XSE and Limited. I'm leaning towards the NX350h given it's more comfortable ride and the space didn't matter so much given we have another SUV. NX has a slightly better sound insulation including more hp at 240 compared to 219.

Does the NX have a 12v outlet in back cargo area like RAV4 has?
Yes, the 12v battery is in the back like the Rav4 hybrid. If non-hybrid it’s in the front also like the RAV4.
When it comes down to the dealership experience, Lexus is the winner.

The absence of a spare and run flat tires rules out the Lexus for me... shame they ruined an otherwise good car.
I think they want people to get the RX with the spare tire.
