@Okie Foodie King if you have a cargocover to cover your cargo on the back, so nobody can see it. It can be removed and stored where the spare tire is. Lift up were the spare tire is an you can see the fittings where it goes and clips it. Put the cover back over spare tire and all it good. Three automatic adaptive cruise control settings are likely based on seconds. With all three bars, the car in front of you is 4 seconds ahead of you. Two bars is three seconds. One bar, a good setting for rush hour, is two seconds behind the car in front. Btw, two seconds is the amount of distance I was taught in 1970 to leave between cars. With the auto main beam dipping, on the Yaris you don't need to turn the light control to main beam. It does that automatically when you press the switch. Thanks a bunch. Great video here. It is almost Halloween of 2024 and I just bought a RAV4 LE and have no idea what all the buttons are. This helped tremendously.
Did you know that by holding down the cruise button on your steering wheel, you can turn adaptive cruise off, and run with normal cruise control. Never would have known that had the sales rep not shown me. 2019 RAV4 LE.
THANK YOU, I JUST GOT A XLE A WEEK AGO. WORRIED BECAUSE I HAD A LE AWD FROM2019 UNTIL JULY 23.2024. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND IT WAS TOTAL. SO YOUR VIDEO WILL BE SO HELPFUL.

Far better fuel economy and no noise at slow speeds. Bought mine new..the extra $3K cost for the hybrid paid for itself in 6 months of driving.@@okiefoodieking
Just got a new rav 4 hybrid and getting ready to try it on a road trip, thank you for that video, it was really helpful. BTW, I’m also in OK and impatiently waiting for the cooler months to come, this heat is unbelievable
Hello my fello Okie ! Congrats on the new RAV4 Hybrid ! You are going to love it ! I just got new All Terrain tires and slapping them on Saturday! Can’t wait !
This is such a helpful video. I’m looking into getting a RAV4 XSE and was worried I wouldn’t understand the new features. Automatic cruise control looks like the best one.
@@okiefoodiekingI’ve had my Rav hybrid since 2022 I still don’t trust the adaptive cruise control and have my foot resting on the brake 😂. But to be fair I haven’t done much long freeway driving.
I was recovering from a right knee injury when I got my 2020 Rav4. I could only drive for 15 minutes before getting cramps, the adaptive cruise control allowed me to drive for an hour without issue. It works down to 20 mph in town too.
Just got a 2021 Rav4 xle and didn't know about these features. Great video! I just started receiving the communication module activation failed message and can't find anything to tell me why this is happening.
The automatic hi-beams also dims your headlights when you get within a certain distance of the vehicle ahead of you to prevent blinding them through their mirrors.
Loving my RAV4 XLE 2019 its a pleasure to drive. I was stuck in very slow moving traffic and it just kept moving forward and stopping by itlsef. Amazing tech
Great info...love it.. Its lot easier than flipping through the manual 😃 Thank you BTW I really love that smart Cruise control.. man I was able to drive all the way to the beach which was like a couple of hours without using the break/gas paddle too often.
Great Video. I think the bars on the adaptive cruise control represent how many seconds will pass before you will be where the vehicle in front of you currently is. 1-3 seconds.
@@okiefoodieking Then the dealership didn't read the manual. It is stated there (at least in my language version), that at the speed of 80 km/h the distance with 3 bars is about 50 m, with 2 bars about 40 m and with 1 bar about 30 m. The distance will change in relation to the speed. E.g. with double the speed the distance will double too.
I have 2019 RAV4 XSE. The automatic headlights are not ideal on deeply curvy mountain roads here in the Sierra Nevada. Sometimes they never turn the brights off. Other times they switch back and forth so much that the cars in front of me think I'm flashing them! Lol! Generally they are awesome. LTA not recommended here either! On gentle highway curves it's great though! Love my Rav!
The 2019 didn't have the added noise insulation and it is a noisy car. All Rav4s made after 2019 have it and are much quieter. The noise you are hearing is the direct injectors.
Super helpful instructions! I recently purchased a new Camry. First new car in 10 years. Massive tech changes to learn😮. The dang owners manual is like a college textbook so watching your video jump started me to dig into the details and enjoy my car.
First off I'm 70 and have had my 2021 rav4 prime XLE , and know exactly your feelings, the sales man showed me one thing "how to turn it on". the book with it reads like gobbledi-gook, too much. so i've been watching a lot of these vids. like how to preset open height for tailgate. any way i call it a "Rolling Computer" i believe there is at least 7of them.
Hey thank you so much for this man! You answered a number of questions I had. NOTE TO ANYONE: Currently deciding between this vehicle shown and a 2018 XLE. ...decision time in a few days. If anyone has feedback either direction pros/cons key differences between the two I'd really REALLY appreciate it! :)
One disagreement: I don’t know of anyone who likes the on off engine feature. It is horrible! Thank goodness there’s an on off button. But you have to remember to push it every time the car is started.
I'm glad my 2006 doesn't have most of this stuff. More to go wrong! Two changes I wish I had - the defroster setting right beside general heat on the dial. I often use these so it means you have to turn it all the way. Also, more cup holders!! Who designed this to have only 4??! My Yaris had 6 iirc
I had no idea about the 3 bars on the cruise control! I'm always frustrated because it leaves such a large gap and people cut in front of me causing my 2018 Rav4 Hybrid to quickly slow down. Thanks!
One more thing about the back part of the car, we have the rubber piece like in the video, $100 extra bucks, but what I have noticed is that you have to be careful how you load the back up, what I mean is that if you put heavier items in the middle of the back, it has a tendency to have the piece under the rubber mat to spread the area where the carpeted piece sits. So my plan is to use the rubber mat as a template and cut out a 1/2” piece of plywood and sandwich it between the carpeted piece and the rubber mat. I’m hoping this will fix the issue. I have ask the dealer about this and showed them what it does and they have no clue what to do
I agree with guy who talked about the stop/start button, I absolutely can not stand it. I’m glad there is the option to turn it off. It has become routine after I start the car I turn it off. And as far as the gas mileage saving of 0.000000 gallons of gas is BS. Not mention where and tear on your starter and let’s not forget the wear on the battery. I bought my wife a 2020 XLE Premium new and love our car. In our almost 45 years of marriage I have wanted to by her a nice car, preferably a new one since we only ever had one other new vehicle. It fits us both just perfect.
Do you know that if you use Lane Assist and Cruise control at the same time, and stick plastic cola bottle through steering wheel, you need not have to have your hands on the wheel at all. Works wonders on free ways....
Cruise control is so important in Australia because speed limit is strictly enforced. If the road said 60kph and you go 66, the well warned but numerous speed cameras will help you to correct your driving habits with some steep fine. I basically keep the cruise control on all time as long as I am above 40kph so I do not have to glance at the speedo every few seconds.
@@okiefoodieking dont worry. by law they will tell you where exactly the cameras are... you don't have to worry about an undercover police car pulling you over. all you have to do is to pay super careful for the speed camera signs, which are everywhere, if you really really want to speed.
I just bought a 2921 RAV4 but I can’t find a compass anywhere. Can you tell me if there’s a hidden one somewhere in the car? On my old Subaru Forester it was in the rear view mirror.
I have a '24 Rav LE. Do you have any clue how to turn off the hatch door buzzer while driving? Haul kayaks and paddleboards and they hang out the back. Thanks!
❤I have a question? ECO doesn’t allow me to put in Normal! Can you show me please❤thank🙏You so much for excellent educational features I had No clue my new 2022 Rav4 had until I watched your video!
You can only put it in one mode at a time. You cannot put it in Eco mode and a normal mode at the same time. You have to choose one I hope that helps. So glad my video helped you out ! 🎉
Just bought a RAV4 Hybrid XLE, didn't know about varing the car lengths on the adaptive cruise control, gonna reduce to maybe 1 or 2 bars, mine was set at 3 by default.
the steering is not desinged for "auto pilot", it is just for driving assist, the system does not allow the driver to hand free for a bit of time, lane tracking is a safty just in case
I know this and don’t drive like that. I was just showing u the safety feature if u have it on and have a distracted moment for a second it will help u out
Possibly not. I love that feature. That is weird it doesn’t have it. I have it in mine is a basic LE all-wheel-drive RAV4 you should have that on yours.
@@okiefoodieking it will be my 1st new car I've ever had. I'm very thankful & humbled to be able to purchase a new car. It will start being built on the 26th. Supposed to be done next month. Guess what color I chose?
I was scared to use the radar cruise control along with the lane adjustment in the beginning when i bought my new RAV4. Till I had a 3000 mile road trip, I tested these functions with my foot near the brake paddle for 3 hours, then I trusted these functions. It worked great. But still..... I feel comfortable putting my foot on acceleration pedal and hands on steering wheel.
Lane assist is not self steering. Its there to nudge you as a warning. Your job of steering and watching for traffic is still your job, these are assisting devices. Taking your hands off the wheel is nuts. PS: I am on number 3 RAV4 trail. 2020, 2019, and 2023.
@@daveroberts7295The lane centering allows you to take your hands off the wheel. It’s designed for situations where you may need those extra couple seconds to use your hands for something else like grabbing something that dropped or something. It’s not for completely letting go but for slightly longer intervals than without it. It is especially useful in straight roads where instead of having to nudge back and forth you can just let it do it’s thing for a few seconds
@@HaiRune Nonsense. The job of driving a car is to be completely in control of the vehicle at all times, letting go of the wheel is not part of complete control. Dropping what, your cell phone, that's illegal. There are only a couple of things yu should be doing while driving, control of the car and looking out for hazards. Looking out through that bit of glass in front of your nose. Letting go of the wheel for a few seconds is a ticket to hell, loss of situational awareness, loss of life. Tell you insurance company that you think that is normal and see what they say.
So I have a 2023 rav4 xle and I'm curious if it's a good idea to use the ACC going down hill? It seems like it uses engine breaking as well as the breaks but I don't know if I should trust the system fully to not just ride the brakes. It's hard to tell, might just be better to manually downshift the car to use more engine breaking then breaks and if needed manually break
I have a 23 Rav4 Trail and I use the ACC uphill and down while towing a boat, or not and it works just fine. I had a 2020 and a 2019 before this, no newbie to the vehicle. PS. Where I live you are either going uphill or downhill.
Do you know if there is a way to leave your heat on or AC on when you turn the vehicle off? So when you do a remote start those options are automatically going to come on as well.
@@dont_talk2me when I drove from PA to Canada. Over the highway speeds, basically go with the traffic I was getting 27 and sometimes 29 between fuel stops. Here where I live with a lot of stop signs I can get low 19mpg just a couple mile drives.

Did you know that by holding down the cruise button on your steering wheel, you can turn adaptive cruise off, and run with normal cruise control. Never would have known that had the sales rep not shown me. 2019 RAV4 LE.
Nope I didn’t know that! Thank u for the tip :). Glad to see I am not the only other LE person. I love my LE AWD
That would explain my car not slowing down for the car stopped in front of me

It’s probably my favorite feature as well! It’s awesome for road trips. My foot hardly ever touched the gas
One more think I don't know about my Rav4: My pick up date.

Oh wow is that in adaptive cruise control mode ? How is it doing that?
Great info...love it.. Its lot easier than flipping through the manual 😃 Thank you BTW I really love that smart Cruise control.. man I was able to drive all the way to the beach which was like a couple of hours without using the break/gas paddle too often.
Man isn’t that a great feeling ?!? It’s awesome !
Thank you Pete. The info was very helpful. Peace, and love !
@@rakeshthawale7570 you bet Michael !
Great Video. I think the bars on the adaptive cruise control represent how many seconds will pass before you will be where the vehicle in front of you currently is. 1-3 seconds.
I never heard of that. That’s interesting. I was just going by what the dealership said about it
@@okiefoodieking Then the dealership didn't read the manual. It is stated there (at least in my language version), that at the speed of 80 km/h the distance with 3 bars is about 50 m, with 2 bars about 40 m and with 1 bar about 30 m. The distance will change in relation to the speed. E.g. with double the speed the distance will double too.
The dealer told me I represents car lengths. It’ll keep, 1,2 or 3 car lengths from the person infront of you it’s a very cool feature I love it
I was told it was car lengths as well. I've never adjusted mine. Three bars works totally fine on the highway.
Yeah LTA is great for straighter roads for sure. I usually only use it when I am on a road trip
I love my 2019 Rav 4 safety features for the win!
Absolutely! I love my 2020 Rav4
Does your 2019 make a knocking noise 25 seconds after a cold start?
The 2019 didn't have the added noise insulation and it is a noisy car. All Rav4s made after 2019 have it and are much quieter. The noise you are hearing is the direct injectors.
My wife has a 2019 Rav4 XLE and I have a 2021 Rav4 Prime. There is a night and day difference in cabin noise
@@pbear216 didn't bother me, If I want a quieter car id buy an EV

Super helpful instructions! I recently purchased a new Camry. First new car in 10 years. Massive tech changes to learn😮. The dang owners manual is like a college textbook so watching your video jump started me to dig into the details and enjoy my car.
Glad u found this helpful! U are going to love your RAV4 and it’s much easier the. U think! :)

@@okiefoodieking Thanks for the feedback. Just so I understand you, you'd chose the 2018 XLE over the 2020 LE if you were me then?
One disagreement: I don’t know of anyone who likes the on off engine feature. It is horrible! Thank goodness there’s an on off button. But you have to remember to push it every time the car is started.
Hahaha m my wife hates this feature !!! Lol. I think one u turn it in ur stats on and once u turn it off it stays off at least for me

@@munyankore good deal
I'm glad my 2006 doesn't have most of this stuff. More to go wrong! Two changes I wish I had - the defroster setting right beside general heat on the dial. I often use these so it means you have to turn it all the way. Also, more cup holders!! Who designed this to have only 4??! My Yaris had 6 iirc
I had no idea about the 3 bars on the cruise control! I'm always frustrated because it leaves such a large gap and people cut in front of me causing my 2018 Rav4 Hybrid to quickly slow down. Thanks!
You bet ! It will make a difference !
When this happens, do the brake lights come on?
I'm looking to buy a used 2020 or 2021 Rav. This was very informative.
Good deal ! U will love it.
Getting Rave4 today. Glad for the lesson.
I have ask the dealer about this and showed them what it does and they have no clue what to do
God bless you! Heated fellowship! Never heard that before!
Hahaha it can happen ! :)
My brand new 2024 hybrid rav4 speedometer is not calibrated and two dealers refuse to calibrate / repair it. Any Thoughts?
I have a video about that. I show you how to do that. Look for that video on my videos :)
Yeah not sure if it saves gas or not. Seems like it’s bad on the car for sure though
Do you know that if you use Lane Assist and Cruise control at the same time, and stick plastic cola bottle through steering wheel, you need not have to have your hands on the wheel at all. Works wonders on free ways....
I did not know how to engage these features but I had them and used them on my 2018 Highlander.

Oh man that sounds like it is super strict over there. I don’t like that they have cameras everywhere and fine you. 😮

Thanks I appreciate it! It’s amazing on road trips as is the adaptive cruise control
Lane keep assist is a death trap! Don't use it unless you want to die!
It was one of my favorite features and saves my calf muscle from always putting my break on when I needed but don’t have to now bc it does it for me
Lane assist is not self steering. Its there to nudge you as a warning. Your job of steering and watching for traffic is still your job, these are assisting devices. Taking your hands off the wheel is nuts. PS: I am on number 3 RAV4 trail. 2020, 2019, and 2023.
@@daveroberts7295this
@@daveroberts7295The lane centering allows you to take your hands off the wheel.

Cool, but maybe get your passenger to film next time you do 65 on the highway
I have not heard of that. But I do not have remote start either
If you use the app and start "climate" the car will start with the temp going up or down to whatever it was set to when left.
