This song featured Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac on background vocals. Buckingham and Richard Dashut, who produced many Fleetwood Mac albums including "Rumours", co-produced this song as well.
Had them in the song, but they got no credit. They were helping him out because I think Lindsay produced his album. This was lip synced because that was Stevie's voice but not her singing (lip-syncing) in the video.
Serious awesome back up vocals!
That doesn't sound like Stevie Nicks voice.
@@patticrichton1135 "Magnet and Steel" is a hit single written and performed by Walter Egan, released in March 1978. It was the first and biggest hit on Egan's second solo LP, Not Shy. It reached number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number nine in Canada. It spent 22 weeks on the American charts.
Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, members of Fleetwood Mac, sang background vocals along with several others; Buckingham was also one of the song's producers, along with Egan and Richard Dashut. Nicks was also Egan's inspiration for the song.[2]
Personnel
Walter Egan - lead vocals, guitar
Lindsey Buckingham - guitars, background vocals
Stevie Nicks, Annie McLoone - background vocals

Not only is it, but the song is about her. He was trying to date her, LOL, asking her out but getting a no or a lunch date only, thats why the song says she was "Lost in her song"
I can't hope that I'll hold you for long
You're a woman who's lost to your song
But the love that I feel is so strong
And it can't be wrong
Its a bad lyrical song tbh, that's why he's a one hit wonder, the songs production is what made it a hit.
Love these fun facts!
This a GREAT SONG that's highly UNDER RATED or liked or whatever! This really is a primo song.
No doubt brother
You guys great
I think Walter was a one hit wonder..this was a great song and his voice is honey!!!!
He had a couple hits, maybe 4-5
love this song...so 70s...the lead singer had a thing for Stevie Nicks...I think she sang background vocals
Stevie Nicks and Lyndsey Buckingham both sang backup, and helped in the production.
She is.
🎸💯 NOW! Somebody say we didn't have THE BEST MUSIC back in the 60's, 70's & early 80's! All kinds of musical talent! I'm so grateful to have lived in those times! 🔥🤯
FACTS!!!!!!!!
Absolutely!!
Yes, this song was in the 70's. It was so fun watching your reaction. This song is so beautiful, the harmonies are exquisite. Gives me chills every time I hear it. For some reason when I hear this song today, I associate it with summer evenings when I was a teenager, the sounds of my Mom and Dad watching tv in the other room, a cool breeze blowing through the bed room window, and the amber glow of my old stereo in the dark. Hearing the calm voice of the late evening DJ's as they introduce the songs. I miss hearing really talented DJ's. They were really a part of the music experience for me.
Bueturful times summer was 1st time hearing
I was young but Flash backs
The Beckoning Memories Are Truly Only One Very Special Song Away! I Couldn't Agree More With Every Word You Mentioned- I'm Incredibly Grateful For Growing Up In The 70's and 80's-
Very well said.
This is a great old soft rock song from 1977!! I remember listening to this on my radio. Brings back memories!!
This was my favorite song when it first came out. What a summer that was ☺️
Walter Egan was a one hit wonder I saw them open up Tom Petty first tour and it was a good concert.
1978, a lot of great music came out that year. Songs like these were radio regulars, this one was often requested at high school dances.
I love they're doing the stroll to this song in the video. It's perfect for that dance!
Great great bass playing and backing vocals.
This is when music was good, this is when people knew how to sing, this is when you could understand the message that was being sent!
This is a popular slow dance song back in the 80s Stevie Nicks sang the backups on album. Glad you all got the feels like we did with this gem back in the day...a lot of couples played this for there weddings
This song was my teenage years. The minute I heard it, I knew it was gonna be a lifelong love. It’s never changed. The 70’s were a time of great music 👍 and teenage innocence ❤️😁😉🤭. What I wouldn’t do to go back, and do a do-over. Well, ya can’t do that, but there’s always next time around. Here’s to next time around people 😁👍!!!
Walter Egan wrote this song for Stevie, he was in love with her ❤️ but unfortunately the relationship didn't last. Personally I love this song as old as it is it still gives me goosebumps! 🥰💕
One of my all time favs….😍😍
WOW, I NEVER thought I would see ANYONE react to THIS song!!! It is one of my favorite songs from the late '70s. I still have the single for it and I LOVED singing along with it.
Ohhhhhh...ahhhhhhhhh.... Melt her little heart ♥ Walter ....
A very nice one-hit wonder in the US!

I don't think you can get anymore from Walter Egan because I do believe "Magnet And Steel" is a 1 hit wonder for him. This song came out in 1977, I use to sing with the radio every time it came on, but I never heard any other songs by him.
The pureness of the song will live on forever. Expression of Deeply Felt Love. Nothing to prove to the world after Walter Egan has given this love offering 🙏🏼💝🥰
One of my favorites!!
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Walter Egan is a Jeopardy Champion.
I STILL have my 45 of this song! One of my favorites , ever!
I remember this from high school lol!! Thanks for the memories!!!!
That's Stevie Nicks on vocals and Lindsey Buckingham's guitar on this track - Stevie did lots of great duets
Beautiful beautiful song....!!!
This is great, I remember hearing this song in the back of a station wagon on the way to California as a kid..
I spent some time in Atlanta during the summer of 1978, this song was on the radio alot. It's a great one. Carly Simon's cover of Michael McDonald's You Belong to Me was also on the radio during that time. Another great song. When I think of either of these songs, I always think of the other. The two songs go together like peas and carrots!
Awesome tune! Remember this one very well! Some mighty fine memories! Glad I grew up in the 70s, best of times!😀🥰
Songs like this are so much more powerful by just seeing the way you two look at each other.
Oh my gosh, I haven't heard this song in decades! I used to love this song, now it's going to be stuck in my brain again after all these years!
God I loved this song as a kid.
Love this song , thank you ♥️
Love this song! Always have. I was a little kid when it came out. The harmonies are fire!
Thank you again for another hit!!!😎
Lindsey Buckingham's production can be heard all over this song & picking out Stevie Nicks voice in the background harmonies is easy to do . I'll always remember this song because when it was a hit , Walter was the opening act for Heart on my 1st show in a venue other than an arena in '78 🙂
Younger people finding treasures from my past is so beautiful!
Many of the comments refer to a One Hit Wonder. If you're going to have a one hit winder, this would be the song to do it with.
I'll be humming this tune all night long.
Thanks for this video
This song was released in 1977. Great song! Thank you! ;-)
Yesss I was in my twenties when this song came out. I was immediately hooked!👵🏿👍🏾🔥💜

Great track from my youth
Just another example of why I think the 70s was music's best decade. Songs like this one are found throughout the 70s from beginning to end.
LOVE this song sooooo much!!! Thanks for sharing! It's nostalgia when I hear this song!
I was 21 or 22 when I first heard this song. My boyfriend was the light man for his band! They played at a biker party, ((Third Annual Mud Run)) in Priest Valley, CA.. Thanks for the great music 🎶🎶🎶

Old school music...the BEST! 👏💞
OH my gosh what beautiful memories
One of those great romantic 70's songs
OMG! I was just transported back to a youthful Summer day piling into a neighbor's car heading out to our City Pool. The year was 1974 or 75 & I was 10 or 11. I unconsciously sang the Alto part until I realized everyone had stopped talking. I just laughed & said I liked this song. I was new to the neighborhood & they all thought I was weird already.
Although not in the video that's none other than Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac on backing vocals
She was in the video, one of the girls dancing.
Back in 1980 I had my first kiss at the roller rink.. This song was playing . I am 59 yrs old and will never forget that.
Yes I love this song. So smooth. Every time I make a new playlist for work or whatever I throw this song on there.
That's a song a boy could shine his belt buckle to. If you know what I mean. That song came out when I was in high school. 🦚

Stevie Nicks as a back up singer=perfection.
so WHO is the girl in the video, that is DEFINATELY NOT Stevie, and none of the other guys is Lindsay Buckingham
@@patticrichton1135 I was wondering the same thing. Hmm… It seems that the video is the usual 1970s type. Actual recoded song dubbed over a live performance video?
Great vocal!!!!! Fave tune from way back!!
Slow dancing love making song! One of my favorites from when I was very young.
Songs like this classic and all the other great music of the 70s and 80s is the reason why people were just happier to be around others in life. Great music, great message, great emotions and great times
