F.P. Journe is one of those cases where "if it ain't broke don't fix it" meets a man that's like "I'mma try and fix it anyway". That among his charity, motivation to be involved in everything he does, and the way the Journe boutique's treat their employee's and customers all like family is why I will always love F.P. Journe.
@@Lillith_sv I'm no quartz snob. I have and wear grand seiko and longines quartz watches. But I feel dirty thinking about a fpj quartz.. Imagine buying an als, with a quartz movement. How could you!
I had the privilege to see this watch in person and handle it two weeks ago. All I can say is that it is absolutely spectacular. Sure, I'd have to sell my car over 30 times to get one, but it would definitely be worth it.
I've been buying & selling watches for decades privately without knowing much about there history & inner workings. Your videos give such detail & insight at 77 I am now able to appreciate their history & complexity. So perhaps you can teach an old dog new tricks ? Best and clearest explanation of a tourbillon yet. I almost got it this time! It’s both amazing and brilliant - but not sure I’d want to pay that much for a watch that people would look at and say “Oh, it’s a quartz fake - second hands on mechanical watches don’t tick like that”! 😳🤣
Please make sure you have the highest quality when watching the video... also the information you get about horology is great. A lange has something similiar with reseting the secconds hand
As usual, another fabulous video and this time about my favorite brand. I have had the pleasure to meet FP in person and even have dinner with him. He was extremely pleasant but the language barrier did not allow for real communication and perhaps that is why he seems distant. Next time, I am bringing my French speaking friend to help me communicate!
What "heritage" does is establish a baseline of expectations, which is occasionally useful for consumers. When the watch speaks for itself, and exceeds any possible expectation, heritage is superfluous.
I understand your point but can’t say I agree. With heritage comes expectation as well as ‘fit’ in terms of what that brand and its heritage stands for. It means that where a brand with heritage does something different, it is forgiven if not quite the best. Like how BMWs heritage centres around compact sports saloons, but people will buy the 7 series and forgive it for not being the best limo all round (the S-Class). Lexus tried to muscle in and scientifically did all the limo things - quietness, comfyness, etc - better than both 7 and S-Class but it’s lack of heritage was its downfall.
Great video explaining how this watch works and the different technologies that make it the tour de force that it is. FP Journe should use this as a marketing video. Well done!
Got sucked into the watch captivated a third of the way of the video, and only realised I was no longer listening actively to the voice-over when the video ended. Illustrious magnificence.
I've loved these watches for a long time time now. I feel like Journe doesn't get enough credit for his innovations and the sheer elegance of his watch faces.
@@CJ-rb3do They are rumors, so maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. Still love his philosophy in watchmaking, inspiring from old watchmakers problems and trying to solve them in an elegant way. Also I love his watches' style, simple but remarquable.
Mesmerizing video as always. I walked by one of your locations in Canary Wharf not so long ago. I can't wait to walk in there to purchase something special, hopefully in the not so distant future. Ever since I started following your channel, I know where I'm going to shop for timepieces. Thanks again, great content! :)
Brother, your every word gave justice to Sir. F. P. Journe obsession. Also, not only you showed me some great and affordable watches but also taught me some beautiful English.
I love this channel, i don't have the money to buy these watches but i am more about the technology and not the brand and the way this channel parts information to the viewer, i love it. Nice to see someone share the same passion for tech.
Hey can you do a video on A. Lange & Söhne Datograph up/down lumen , i cant find any other videos on that beautiful watch! Thanks man , love your videos.

As always, an exceptional video. Even watch manufacturers can't market the features of a watch as you do. Please compare it with Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Grand Voyage II
Ok. 1: excellent explanation of why a tourbillon is useless in a wristwatch (honey jar). 2: now I have to take back my insistence that there is no wristwatch with a useful tourbillon in it. What an amazing creation! Great video as usual.
Can I ask you to make your videos available in 1440p? Currently 1080p is the maximum you offer. You camera work is so amazing, so detailed, so incredible that you'd really make my day if you offered higher definition. That and 1440p (2560x1440) resolution monitors are becoming very common these days.
Fabulous craftsmanship, unrivalled engineering and engrossing history. These vignettes are a joy to watch (no pun intended). Do you write your own copy and perform the necessary research? On a technical note, how does the accuracy compare with a 'normal' watch such as a Zenith?
There are many great watches to choose from but history will prove how important FP Journe was to horologyI, If there are people that still love watches in the future Journe's will be the equal of the finest Patek's , what a incredible gift he truly is.
I did not get this watch at all when it was released. But when I saw it in Geneva, that angled mirror blew my mind 🤯 If I could own a tourbillon, or just one FP Journe, this would be it.
What a beautiful watch and what a great narration on how it works. I had no idea so much thought when into that piece. I figured all tourbillions were useless complications. FP Journe literally made a problem so he could fix it. Reminds me of when I eat a 3 pound burrito so I could feel the bliss of emptying my bowels.
We know you want more watches…. click here: linktr.ee/watchfinder
That honey metaphor for the tourbillon was brilliant. I love it.
Minute?
Imagine people actually pay more for a Richard Mille smh 😅
😂
Richard Mille..a plastic watch.
So what? Two completely different watches you can’t compare them
RM, its a cosmetic.
When that yellow or green color catches someone's eyes, you can brag to them how much the watch costs.

F.P.J. is definitely one of my grails, but REAL grails, meaning it's unattainable 😂
Would love for you to review an FPJ. Any chance this can happen soon?

“Heritage” is overrated. I’ll take a special watch from a special watchmaker over heritage any day.
Totally agreed💯👌
this is probably why richard mille is so popular lmao
What "heritage" does is establish a baseline of expectations, which is occasionally useful for consumers.
When the watch speaks for itself, and exceeds any possible expectation, heritage is superfluous.
I mean yeah, but reputation isn't. You would not pay 100k for a no name watch brand
