  • Ever done the pick-n-mix at your local cinema? You’re presented with row after row of chewy, crunchy, chocolatey, gummy treats, strawberry, raspberry, aniseed, bubble gum-whatever your heart desires. You cram as much as possible into the little bag, hoping the whole gummy stodge doesn’t explode, eager to get your hands sticky and your belly full of gummy deliciousness (Will you stop saying gummy so much?). If A. Lange & Söhne is eight-year-old you and complications are the sweets, well, then I’ll be darned if that doesn’t end up in the limited edition Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. With thanks to A. Lange & Söhne for the loan of this exceptional piece, here are five reasons why it’s going to give you the sugar rush of a lifetime.

As an overall watchmaker lange doesn’t come close to patek . The history , heritage , wide catalogue , innovations and brand equity of patek philippe are unrivalled . I love lange , their watches are unreal but comparing it to patek as an overall brand is futile .

But instead of having a Zeitwerk or a Grande Complication with all the other functions of this Datograph on top, I'd like to have it in a simple watch, like a self- winding Saxonia, maybe a Saxonia Moonphase, but nothing else.. . Two guys standing in front of me, one wearing an ALS and one wearing a patek. I know they are both successful, I know the guy wearing the a langhe sohne knows about watches and I can’t say the same for the patek wearer. Plenty of patek people who are interested in the hobby, but there are a lot who aren’t and simply want a piece to flex. I don’t think anyone buys als to flex, because no one really knows the brand outside of watch circles.

On this watch, for the owner - and for anyone lucky enough to be privileged a look - the back is even more outrageously fabulous than a 'normal' (if I can use that word) DataGraph. A Michelangelo on the front, and wait.... a De Vinci on the back!

This watch probably the pinnacle of watchmaking
Still in my opinion the tourbillon is a bit wasted imo I would rather take a automatic version other the tourbillon

This video is what I'm going to direct people to if they're ever curious about why I'm interested in mechanical watches.

Watchfinder, I have a Christmas wish from us all to you guys, that only you can deliver.
Please just make a long long long video of intricate B-roll of A.lange and Söhne watches, no voice-over (as much as I love your narration and voice) and I bet that'll be the best Christmas gift many of us will get when it comes to watches

Nice!! And altough I will never be able to buy this watch you do light a delicate subject. With 167 parts, the Saxonia thin is just over 90 euros per part!! That is a steal!

This is an incredible piece of engineering! Absolute overkill but 100% worth it’s price! *looking at the likes of Richard Mille*

A stunning wonder both of art and engineering. The guys at ALS are not watchmakers. They are architects...

The best thing about this is that the uninitiated will glance at the watch and think nothing of it but it takes a real connoisseur to know how special that piece is. Very understated
