Wrist Watch Revival is a major reason why I became fascinated with watches. To be able to see beyond the case back was mind blowing. One of the greatest watch channels on RUclips.
WWR is simultaneously therapeutic, educational and entertaining. I just wish he’d take outside repair work. Who wouldn’t want to see their vintage watch being refurbished on his show!
not a Disembodied finger. but an entity without shape that take care of Watch around the world.....ngl i got that kinda feeling lmao. since imho we got ourself comfy listen to his explaning things while watching small annoyin gear got worked on, damn dude got talent
The comment about doing the voice over after the video is where Marshall is above the rest. When you listen to his voice it sounds like he is commenting it live as he is working on the watch, it never feels like this is a post prod edit. Thank you for inviting this guest into your channel, I hope more people learn about him and the great content he puts out there.
So cool to see Marshall in the flesh..and not just a voice behind his work. Love his channel and his work. I don't think he can call himself a 'novice' any longer. Kudos to you and your journey. Love the fact that you hail from the PNW. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
This was the first watch channel I got into. The quality of his videos is outstanding and super clear, and his explanations are fabulous. Best watch repair channel by far.
Marshall is one of the nicest watchguys in the world - and that voice.....wouv. Always relevant, always doing nice work, nice speaks, finding wonderfull watches, and on top he is very very skilled - generally just very nice company.
So cool to see the face behind the smoothest voice in watch restoration not to mention the most enthusiastic and one of the most talented Great to see this interview!
I have always loved old clocks and watching Wristwatch Revival got me fascinated about the inner workings of mechanical watches. Marshall is the reason that I am now the proud owner of a vintage Enicar watch. I love his content!
Wow Marshall's face not just his cotted fingers. I will never again wear or own a watch but I do like them and I love watching Marshall work. His post production narration is pefect.
There's a girl at work who knows of my love for watches but isn't into the hobby herself. She was like 'oh, I watched a video..' and started describing Marshall's old water damaged Explorer vid that a daughter hoped someone could fix. And I said I know that video! And pulled it up and she was like 'Yes! That one! That was so cool and a really nice story.' Marshall's vids can just get anyone watching. She wasn't even sure how she stumbled upon it.
She stumbled upon it because Google and/or Apple noticed that your phones spend a lot of time close to each other (when you are at work) that there is a possibility that you might share the same interests. So they promoted some of your favourite videos to her and some of her favourite videos to you. Can you figure out what is it she enjoys watching online by your "unusual" recommendations from RUclips? ;-)
That was a great interview. Thanks. I almost asked if he did voice over, or not, right when that topic came up. I think his tone of enthusiasm that comes through the screen is so genuine, because it is. I understand this this so much with my own passions. I can hear it.. I think that's why he has such an appeal, or part of it anyway. Honest enthusiasm and passion makes great content
I randomly landed on his channel and was fascinated and now I'm putting together a very modest collection. I dug my old watch out of the drawer it w hiding and started wearing it. I lovethis guy and his passion. Thanks for the interview
Marshall is the watch repair guru - He has a fantastic show. He has the perfect announcer voice and very friendly and humble - really enjoy his shows 👍
There is a very interesting segment at about 16:00. They get right to the edge of a discussion about emotional availability and sense memory. That emotional availability is what makes his voice-overs so engrossing. I like Marshall's channel and appreciate this interview.
I can't give enough praise towards Marshall because he has the right stuff for RUclips and is very personable and isn't afraid to laugh at himself when working on watches. I am just getting started with watch repair and I'm pretty sure I have watched most of his videos.
Great review. The term overengineered for a old school Rolex movement reminds me of appliances like stoves with porcelain finishes back in the 50s. We now live in a throwaway society. I have a model A roadster and when I see a Tesla I think of a a future door stop 😊
I didn't know people were calling him Bob Ross! And few months ago when I started seeing his videos, it instantly clicked with me that he is the Bob Ross of watches. They give the same energy; calm, relaxed tone, enjoying what they are doing and most importantly down to earth.
I’ve been following Marshall for a couple of years and I’m now starting to get a little more serious about watch repair. I’m a picker and eBay reseller as well as a vintage. watch collector (which I got into after finding a couple of really nice vintage watches, One a 40’s Rolex and the other a Cartier tank which were both in lots of everyday watches which the estate sale thought were fakes ). A local auction house that I frequent recently had a watchmakers lot with a table top desk and a bunch of Bergeon tools. There was no way I wasn’t winning the lot! Anyway, great interview! Thank you both!
I love his channel! If you are into guns and reloading ammo, Johnny’s Reloading Bench is a great channel to check out too. Similar style and voice. Great to put a name to the voice as well!
A view from the UK. Hi from this rocky outcrop in the north east Atlantic. Just thought i'd post to let you know i am a regular viewer of Marshall's channel. Like probably many viewers of specific interest channels i went to many to find one i was empathetic to and WR suited the way i like to relax and watch a subject that has a beginning, middle and an end and forgive the cliché but that is the "revival" of a non functioning watch. What adds to the enjoyment is Marshalls voice is so relaxing and non aggressive and does not dominate the overall product but enhances it. He is not afraid to tell you his failures or mistakes, confident that we "fixers" know it's all part of the way any repair goes. His love of the subject comes shining through. What i want to know is where the Sam Hill does he get his parts from. They are all not on ebay surely? Great interview by the way. Nice to put a face to a voice. Just as an aside, i avoid the sales type videos like "Luxury Bazaar" or "Pride and Pinion". I see them as vacuous ripoff merchants just using youtube as a shop front. Also video channels of watch "Fanboys" that have no grounding in horology yet want to convince you they have a valid opinion on any and every watch that you should listen to. I paraphrase Marshal when he said the best way to know a watch is to repair it. All fanboys go on about is the dial. I have one last question to you. Why would i buy a mechanical watch, beautifully crafted by Patek Phillippe at $100k and cannot see the workmanship, when i can buy a quartz analogue for $200 that keeps better time AND stays under my cuff most of the day as i only look at the time no more than 5/6 times a day.?
For a watchmaking hobbyist, Marshall is an absolute pro! And I know he said he’s not an actor, but (as I am one) how he described his process of voicing over the video- you know… storing up the reactions and emotions and then bringing them back out to genuinely react to the video… umm- that’s what acting is! At the very least, he should take his extensive knowledge and soothing velvety voice to Antiques Roadshow!
Love you, Marshall! I remember when RUclips recommended Wristwatch Revival I thought, this is going to be boring but I’ll give it a try I guess… I was hooked after five seconds 😂 been in love ever since. 🌟💫
Marshall is so much younger than i thought he would be...!! he has such a mature voice, love his channel and yours @watchcrunch.. this interview is such a pleasant surprise..! All the best from London, England
OMG! So crazy to see you 2 in the same room. Huge fans of both of your work. Marshall is the reason I sit in my office at night tinkering away on watches with my watchmaking setup that he inspired me to establish
I am not into watches, but I stumbled across Marshal's channel, and I watch him all of the time because his voice is so calming. I didn't realize people called him the Bob Ross of watches.
Thanks for the video. I regularly watch Wrist Watch Revival when I am either tinkering with my own watches, or, more likely, hand sewing (yet) another leather strap for one of them. I love your gentle style, knowledge and ability to explain the intricacies of these lovely movements. Keep up the great work both of you, and keep well :-)
Two of my favorites! Thanks for bringing Marshall on to the channel. His videos have helped my wife get more interested in mechanical watches too. You both are great.
I enjoy Watch Revival channel and it's impressive and fascinating to see how Marshall amazingly restores many messed up watches. Has done great work to help many people who have a broken or otherwise non-functional watch and bring it back to life for continued enjoyment and pass down the family line for many more years. I've never been brave enough to completely disassemble and reassemble any movement. But, through my watch modding experience, I not only gained confidence to regulate my own watch. But, also, one time I had a non-functional Seiko with a 7s36 movement.. yes, it's just like the 7s26, but with an extra jewel and maybe one component or two different. Long story short, I discovered the magic lever system was the problem area. Compared it to what it should look like with a functional one and how it operates. Then took the broken movement apart and reassembled it to be working.. basically, somehow, one of the parts had slipped out of place and wasn't winding the mainspring correctly.. not at all. I just moved the part that was off into where it seems to be in correct place, tested it, it worked,.and put the whole thing back together again.
Nice interview 🙂 I recognized that voice, but only had seen the hands. Great channel Marshall, watch it pretty much each time you repair a new (old, or used) watch. Thank you WatchCrunch for this interview. 🙂
Awesome interview! Marshall was one of my biggest influences in my decision to start my own watch making channel. You hit many of the subjects that I was wondering about, too. Great job, and I look forward to learning more about your channel!
Isn’t it strange how your mind works. I’ve been watching Marshall and his restoration’s for quite awhile now, and I’ve built a mental picture of how he looks. I guess, not unsurprisingly It was nothing like he actually is. Marshall is such a talented and likeable guy, who has drawn so many folk to watches- long May he continue!!
After hearing Marshall on his first video (loved the Super Shipmate), I was certain he was in radio, or media of some sort. Glad to find out that there IS some of that! And an explanation of "Magic, the Gathering", as that pad caused me some head scratching. So nice to learn more about his journey into watches! Max, a great interview!
Good to see Marshal on a great show like this, thanks for having a great personality and the guy that got me started in the hobby of watchmaking/repair.😊👍👏👏👏
Thanks Max to introducing me to another awesome channel. Watching Marshall work on watches (just watched a video on a rusted Rolex restoration) it’s absolutely amazing. Thanks!
I've watched every one of Marshall's vids but never really seen the man! So interesting to finally "meet" him. I'll add this: I'm not the type of person that would even wear a watch but I LOVE intricate machinery so I'm forever hooked on Wristwatch Revial.
Finally! I got to see the face with the voice! LOL, I've been curious for a long time. Been a subscriber for two years now. And I have always wondered. To equate you with Bob Ross is spot on!
Awesome video…. Love your context videos Max and love that you had Marshall on the show. He is a big part of why I have the courage and knowledge to take watches apart…. Keep it up Max👍🏽
This was actually a nice video to watch. I’m bored of vids, people telling me which watch is good or bad, what size I should be wearing, what brand I shouldn’t be wearing. This was an enjoyable video about people that like watches and appreciate the mechanics, very enjoyable, hope to see more like this. 👍

Same here!
I have not even bothered To watch other channels.
Yep me too, hobby started 😅
OMG... Marshall is a real person! and here I thought he was just disembodied fingers.
🤣
love your channel! gotta poke a little fun though.
not a Disembodied finger.
but an entity without shape that take care of Watch around the world.....ngl i got that kinda feeling lmao. since imho we got ourself comfy listen to his explaning things while watching small annoyin gear got worked on, damn dude got talent
Really cool to see Marshal as a person and not just his fingers. His channel is like therapy and so talented.
it's so nice to finally put a face with the hands on Marshall's channel.

Marshall's love for this hobby is indeed on the Bob Ross level. Excellent content!
Man, his voice so great, his outlook is so uplifting. I get it.
His voice is so distinctive.
Marshall is one of the nicest watchguys in the world - and that voice.....wouv. Always relevant, always doing nice work, nice speaks, finding wonderfull watches, and on top he is very very skilled - generally just very nice company.

Great to see this interview!
I love watching Marshall disassemble, clean/repair and reassemble watches! His voice is very soothing.
I have always loved old clocks and watching Wristwatch Revival got me fascinated about the inner workings of mechanical watches. Marshall is the reason that I am now the proud owner of a vintage Enicar watch. I love his content!
Wrist Watch Revival is one of the best watch channels. His videos are so interesting and calming at same time.
I don't give 2 shits about watches, but Marshall's channel is completely absorbing.
Marshall is such a likeable and talented guy. I wonder how many people he's inspired to work on watches?
I've been wanting to buy a cheap movement to practice on ever since I started watching his channel.
@claymore9359 he has a beginner set you can buy that includes a movement.
He's the reason I went out and bought tools and started learning myself.
Wow Marshall's face not just his cotted fingers. I will never again wear or own a watch but I do like them and I love watching Marshall work. His post production narration is pefect.
Marshall is the man….my favorite watch repair/resto channel
Meticulous attention to detail with personality! Marshall is awesome. Very good episode!
I need his patience 🙏
Great to finally put a face to the fingers and voice. His voice is perfect for what he does, so soothing to listen to
Watch Crunch, Thank you so very much for the Marshall Sutcliffe interview, it was great! 👍👍

I could listen to you guys for days
This is great! When I met Max at Windup, we talked about Seattle and Marshall. And now to see this, this is great!
Prophecy
I think videoing the process is the genius of the whole thing- not only is it a guide to reassembling your watch, but you can also post it on RUclips.
Love wristwatch revivial!!!! Thanks for bringing Marshall on. Enjoying the watchcrunch app!
That was a great interview. Thanks.
I almost asked if he did voice over, or not, right when that topic came up.

Always fascinating to watch Marshall at work. Great insight and appreciate all the hard work that goes into his videos.
Ear to ear grin watching this! Marshall is such a good dude.

A wonderful episode and Marshall comes across as humble, knowledgeable and trustworthy
Marshall is absolutely the best watch repair channel RUclipsr out there. Thanks for bringing this great content.
Amazing guest! WWR was the first RUclips channel that got me into hobby restoration. Thanks Marshal!
I love his channel! If you are into guns and reloading ammo, Johnny’s Reloading Bench is a great channel to check out too. Similar style and voice. Great to put a name to the voice as well!
Fantastic video! Not at all what I imagined he looked like. Thanks for bringing this awesome talent to the other side of the lens.
Thanks Mark, I was surprised he's 6'5" 😳
This was an awesome video! I watched several of his videos and loves how he brings us through the restoration process with his soothing voice.
Started binge watching his videos about 2weeks ago! He really is the Bob Ross of watch restoration! (I’m also a huge Bob Ross fan)

Marshall is truly a gift to the world of watches... would love to hear more car talk as well! we need a MGT Arena discord with Marshall as well!
For a watchmaking hobbyist, Marshall is an absolute pro! What a treat...two of my favorite guys. I've literally seen all of Marshall's videos, and Max, I'm 90% the way through yours. "Date at Six!"

Great to finally put a face to the name. I love his repair videos.
Marshall makes watch repair look so easy, that this entire time I thought he was a professional.
I am not into watches, but I stumbled across Marshal's channel, and I watch him all of the time because his voice is so calming. I didn't realize people called him the Bob Ross of watches.
I love Marshall's channel.... Great interview Max!

That polerouter is the nicest watch I have seen on Max's wrist yet. OK, call be a boomer.
Some boomers have taste

Love watching Wrist Watch Revival's channel find it very relaxing and great to watch to help sleep

I'll add this: I'm not the type of person that would even wear a watch but I LOVE intricate machinery so I'm forever hooked on Wristwatch Revial.
Incredible! Two of my most favorite watch guys (repairs & reviews) caught with one stone 😂😂. Amazing interview!! Regards from Italy!!
What a treat to see Marshall being interviewed.
I happened to see this after watching one of Marshall's podcast. Great interview. Great to know more about the person, Marshall.
WristWatchRevival is definitely a totem pole of the watch community. Love his videos and happy to see him on the podcast
Finally! I got to see the face with the voice! LOL, I've been curious for a long time. Been a subscriber for two years now. And I have always wondered. To equate you with Bob Ross is spot on!
I have been a fan of WR for awhile now, great work marshal does
Marshall is the man. Love his content, i haven’t seen a video of his that wasn’t interesting
Great show awesome to see Marshall talk about something other than watches too.
Can we appreciate that small intro compilation, that's fire as hell!
good interview, i dont even have a watch but i follow this guy, to see how he makes a working thing from something broken, also cool style and voice!

Guy has no idea that he is inspiring sooooo many people. So down to earth and cool.
Loved this episode. I love Marshall and Wristwatch Revival.
