Love your latest Ranunculus. Great yarn color! Side note, Saw Dr Abraham Verghese speak this past Wednesday. He did not disappoint. He talked about his personal history that led him to becoming a doctor and writer. No surprise, he was a voracious reader as a child. It is wonderful to add that intimate layer of understanding to the work of a writer you love. He also talked about his early work as a doctor with AIDS patients. He wrote a book My Own Country about that experience. It is now on my to read list. What a compasionate man!
I have had to learn to surrender my worries and concerns also. For me I surrender to God and since I have been able to do that life has been so much easier in the sense that I don’t worry about things that are out of my control. God’s got this! It has been a gift!
Wow. The ability to surrender after doing whatever work were talking about, hit home to me when you talked about it. When it comes to my kids, who are grown!, I don’t allow myself to rest. That really hit home. Thank you. 🥰 think you’ve talked this newish knitter into making a Ranunculus and out of that yarn. I’m obsessed!
Thank you for this really enjoyable video, I love your energy! Your knitting is exquisite and your color selections are delicious! Happy weekend & happy knitting ❤
I always enjoy your reading and watching recommendations and share similar tastes in both. I'm in the mode of finishing projects I started last winter and enjoying it. I tend to put away the wool knits when it gets warm - and here in CA - that's for several months of the year! The epiphany of needing to learn to let go of control is the wisdom that comes with age. There are so many wonderful things that we finally realize when we age that helps to offset the physical losses. It's like our mind and our worldliness grow stronger while we have to learn to accept and decrease our focus on and strength of the physical body. When I was younger, I know I heard so many older/wiser women say this - but I didn't/couldn't hear and truly internalize what they were telling me.
You made me smile so often 😀. Like you I love bright colours and sometimes feel as I were ten years old. And then I knit classic pieces in tan and grey and love them too. It‘s a kind of freedom to live both sides of myself and I enjoy it a lot. By the way - you inspired me to also knit the lace and fade Boxy. Mine is hot pink - definitely was in my „ten-year-old-phase“ when I made it 😂
Another great podcast! Thank you for sharing your words about surrender and work. I struggle with surrender and I needed to hear this. I am in transition right now with life and I worry alot and it is so true, it does rob you of life. This was the reminder I needed to let go and flow. Life always comes through for me. Also, yes! I want t make many things! Take care!
OMG the miniature things are unbearably cute!!! ....(if I can say so in English) . They could go into a Xmas gift to double the joy, they could be hung on a key ring or they could become a great collection for future grandkids as you said! I'm obsessed!!!
Omg, I love Schitts creek 🤩 It’s my all time favourite! The Calla Shawl is so beautiful. You have made so many wonderful shawls, would love to see a round up video about them 😃
I am SO GLAD RUclips recommended me your channel (and I don't often thank algorithms!). Do the work and surrender is a beautiful reminder. And yes to mini things! I am working on one of Anna Hrachovec's free patterns (the mini hearts) as I watch this 🥰
Last year for Christmas I knit several of the mini mochi patterns for my grand kittens - the cat in the bag, the cat in the box and the cat in a corset and stuffed them with fluff and catnip. They were a huge hit. Now to decide how to top them this year ;). They are great patterns - go for it!
What lovely fibers to spin-can’t wait to see the final product. Love Natasha Hornby designs-I’ve made a couple of her shawls (the mosaic knitting ones). Schitt’s Creek got us through the first four years…thinking I’m going to need more of it for the next four years. I am extremely worried about the next four years-not sure I will be able to release anything but will be holding my family and friends close.
Dear Leena, i love your Lace and Fade Boxy Sweater . The whole video i was watching it and thought how wonderful the color is. I would have never guessed you age right and i think it makes you fresh and youthfull instead of juvenile. But im looking forward to your next sweater. lots of love
I left a comment a couple of hours ago but for some reason it has disappeared. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. Your projects are an inspiration to me as I try to break out of a knitting slump. I watched your latest video and finally picked up my needles!! Also, for your reading slump - I recommend a book I just finished that I found delightful. Perhaps you might enjoy it too - it's titled "The Wedding People". I hope you like it.
I knitted the Calla Shawl for a close friend’s 70th B ‘day in her favourite colour - Torquoise…… she has a precious IVF Grand daughter called Calla so that was perfect! Coincidentally today is her 72nd birthday. (Love love Schitts Creek but it took me until about the 4th episode to really get into it)
I had to laugh when you said you’re not a big lace person, but you made a ranunculus and a shawl with lace and you’re wearing the lace and fade top….im thinking you are lololol. All of which are very beautiful btw. ❤
First....love the snoring 😴 😅. Also love the Mochi Mochi stuff...my grandkids would love it, just not sure where to look for patterns?...Ravelry? Stress!!....I'm starting to strongly believe that stress is so much worse for our health than we can realise. I was just talking about this with my sister today, who has been going through truly horrible health problems the last couple of years 😔. By the way, not sure if you'll see this in time, but I've sent you a message to enable you to buy some yarn! ❤
Have you tried reading The Mighty Red? That was one I just finished and I loved it. It's a well-written and good story about young women and men coming to terms with life. It's thoughtful and funny and honest. Fast read.

I think the fun colour balances out the granny type association for lace! It’s so beautiful on you, such a great colour!

I can’t even hear the snoring!😂

this is so funny - I had to turn up the volume to hear you because MY dog was snoring SO loudly!! 🤣 Thanks for another great episode!!
I have knit the Calla shawl twice- once in teal merino and another in light pink mohair. Great choice.

I am so tempted to cast on a Ranunculus for my daughter! Yours looks great! Also, I agree 100%, the shortest cord possible makes me speed knit!

Thanks for your views about ... Do the work and then surrender. It was just what I needed to hear. And, of course, love the knitting content too...

Me too, having trouble focusing to read. The Diplomat is great. Big people only.

Your spinning will even out with practice before you know it. I have trouble trying to spin art yarn or even thicker yarns now.
