I like the implication that Thor is so insanely powerful, that even if Heimdall knew exactly what Thor was going to do, he'd be completely powerless to stop it.

I wanna know exactly what Thor was thinking that disgusted Heimdall so much. He looked him in the eyes, looked down (I'm assuming at the arrow Heimdall was holding), and then back into his eyes. What thing was he planning there?

a detail i like is that odin absolutely knew heimdall moved. hes the king of the gods, no way his senses are that of a mortal man. but he used the opportunity to seem incompetent to atreus. that whole scene with them walking is loaded with manipulations if you look closely.

I’m sure the little move of “missing” Heimdall was mostly theater for Atreus, but I like to think it was for Heimdall as well. Heimdall is clearly all about pride, the moment anything remotely threatens that pride he goes ballistic, so Odin “missing” Heimdall could easily be a pacification tactic to keep him in line. It’s like the opposite of how he berates and belittles Thor so he doesn’t see his potential, he lets Heimdall believe he has more potential than he actually has so he doesn’t break rank.

Not gonna lie Odin is funny in this joke part, but of course he's being less annoying than Heimdal like 98% of the moment 🙄. The guy likes to talk and likes to watch the suspicious get in trouble with Odin so yeah his desperate look turned to disappointment truly fabulous. That may also be the only time Heimdal is not that annoying.

Notice that Richard Schiff's lines of dialogue do not match his tone.
The line is, "This young man, WHO IS MY GUEST, is covered in mud."
What Richard Schiff actually said was, "This young man, who is my guest, is covered in MUD!"
    Care to explain?
