Canadian here, I love butter tarts, but had to give them up since I became diabetic. Now I can return to my favourite treat. Carolyn, thank you so much.
Oh my goodness!!! Can't wait to try these butter tarts. Keto is the way for me to stay on top of my insulin resistance. Thank you for this recipe! You are hands down my favorite keto cook out there.
I just finished a batch, my husband missed his butter tarts and absolutely loved the keto version. Absolutely love these!!!!!! I will definitely be making these again and again and again 😂. From your fellow Canuck 🇨🇦
Hate to tell you, but this is the exact RUclips channel you’re watching for this video. All day I dream about food 🤣🤣 I have Carolyn’s cookbook, and get her recipes in my inbox weekly.
CLASSIC CANADIAN IS RIGHT!!!! My mom was famous(okay maybe not famous) but was known for her delicious butter tarts!!! They were beyond delicious but were loaded with calories! God bless! ❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁
@@Clarky1951 have you seen the recipe for keto butter tarts on the RUclips channel called all day I dream of food (I think that’s what it’s called anyway might be something to check out, my hubby is type 2 and I’m going to make them for him)
It sure would be appreciated if you would post the macros to your recipes! (Your website has so many pop-up ads that I avoid going to it.) But I love your RUclips channel!
I'm going to make these ... I'm thinking with a little more pecans and mix them in with the butter mixture, they would be like mini pecan pies. FYI, I did made your No Bake Keto Peach Cheesecakes last night and they are EXCELLENT!!!! The recipe made 8 of them for me and I have eaten 2 already ... but froze the other 6.
If you can find a recipe for condensed milk sweetened by monk fruit( pure ?) that sweetened condensed milk is sometimes used as a pecan pie filling base( when chefs or cooks want to avoid corn syrup). I’ve only seen condensed milk made from Allulose and a dairy( heavy whipping cream ,etc) on YT. I would definitely avoid the two alcohol sugars until more research Is done. Only concern with Allulose might be its potential source of fuel for pathogenic bacteria that could possibly multiply and cause problems in other parts of human body; even multiply in blood stream can be fatal. Perhaps u have to be really immune compromised( some ppl with T2 diabetes) or consume a lot of this simple sugar? Moderation seems key for Allulose and traditional sugars.
@@susancollins9074 You're welcome. I would think in this recipe that you could just slowly sprinkle in the gelatin in lieu of actually creating an "egg".
The butter tart filling is easy to replicate in keto. I’ve tried to like an almond flour pastry crust. But just don’t. I’ve going to try and experiment with coconut flour based pastry. I sure do miss a good butter tart as a 🇨🇦 lady.
Coconut powder( close to coconut flour, but with the fat and sugar content Intact) might work. Seen someone make Vietnamese Crepes with it. Maybe it’s different enough to be close to almond flour? Coconut ZMilk Powder not the same as Coconut Powder. CMP is dried coconut milk and both are sometimes sold at the same time at Asian grocers.
@ That substitution won’t work. Coconut powder can be rehydrated to create a liquid. But you can’t bake with it. Properties are not the same. I’ve baked many things with coconut flour and been quite successful.
Well I didn't notice till I started making them but the ingredients for the filling that are said in the video don't match the amounts that are written below the video so it is a bit confusing! I just followed what was said instead of what was written and they turned out good.
Looks delish! I’m so worried, however, about the news release regarding the dangers of erythritol & xylitol! Even small amounts are said to increase heart attack & stroke risk by a massive amount. Any thoughts?
It is hard to copy recipe because. I live in Germany and everything for me is in millilitres and grams, and now somehow cuted how you make dough, and this gorgeous looking caramel. Would be nice to try it but missing information, maybe in description write it in grams? It is just my wish. Thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
As a Canadian I can give you some easy advice. As long as you use all metric or all imperial measuring spoons and cups you are fine with any recipe going either way. Just do not mix and match. Eg 1/4 cup is 60ml, a cup is 236ml, a table spoon is 15 ml, a teaspoon about 4 to 5 ml. Just use what you own which is closest to the American recipe and it will work.

My Mom too. 🇨🇦 The pastry was to die for, and gooey filling. I made her recipe for years!!! Type 2 now…so no can eat that way anymore.

@leannekenyoung that's who this channel is...
Keto doesn’t mean low calorie! These tarts are still quite calorie dense! For a special treat maybe!
@@Essemm52, 1 tart is 191 calories, 17 g fat, carbs 5.2 g, protein 4.4g, fiber1.8g
I hope that helps
Mmmm looks so decadent😍😋can't wait to try it!

I have never had one, so this is definitely on my list😊
OH MY GOSH!!! Hubby just told me to get in the kitchen NOW!
These look fabulous!
Oh my gosh! You are absolutely AMAZING! Thank you!
these look so good!
They look AMAZBALLS hi from the UK 👋🏻
Allulose had been removed from Canada's grocery store shelfs and Amazon Canada, so there are no Oowi gooey butter tarts but tough crystallized ones.
Wow looks great, what can I use instead of swerve 😊
I only use monk fruit or trim healthy mama sweeteners so how would I adapt this recipe to using my sweeteners?

Omg...tuning in shortly 🤤🤤
Sounds wonderful. A question though, will this recipe work if you completely eliminate the egg?
You could try a gelatin egg
@@ericasimonson8737. Thank you so much for your reply. I had to research what a gelatin egg is but I will definitely try it.

Try FatHead dough. Add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Chill about an hour before rolling.
I always preferred butter tart squares with a shortbread crust. I wasn’t a big fan of pastry.
@@dawnelder9046 I’ve never had any luck with fat head dough. I don’t know what I do wrong, but it always turns into a messy glob I can’t work with 😫

Hi- looking for amounts to blend ERYTHRITOL, ALLULOSE AND STEVIA LEAF EXTRACT for a 1:1 Replacement with Sugar used in baking. Can you help?

one little problem though, Allulouse isn't available in Canada :(
Ah! This is why I can’t find it! Do you know if it can be skipped and the filling will still be ok?
Yes what can us 🇨🇦 use instead of Allulose?
@@piakozaris1432 I've been waiting a month for an answer.
Maybe a substitute doesn’t work as well? Or maybe Allulose sponsors her so she
can’t recommend a substitute!
Thank you
How many carbs and calories

Google is your friend. Also you can order Canadian/USA measuring cups and measuring spoons.
