Why am I watching this and why was this recommended to me? I just started a 3-day waterfast and today is day 1. 😫 This looks so delicious. 🤤 After I break my fast, it's hot chocolate time.
@monasoliz6972 haha, the universe keeps throwing challenges on our path. I don't think I made the hot chocolate after the fast, but went straight to the chocolate bars instead.
I bought Scharffenberger and Guittard cocoa powder and baking bars when they were in the stores this christmas to experiment with making a drinking chocolate. Will need to make up four batches-one all Scharffenberger, one all Guittard, one all Ghirardelli, and one with Hershey’s cocoa matched with Baker’s chocolate-and run some taste tests. What I’ve learned so far from just using 1T cocoa powder and 1T allulose in my cup to make hot cocoa is that a plant milk just isn’t necessary. I mix the powders in my mug, hydrate them and mix into a paste with 1T heavy cream, then add boiling water from the kettle and use my milk frother to make it all creamy. The Hershey’s powder needs some help with a couple nuggets of cocoa butter thrown in, but it has just half the fat that the premium cocoa powders do so that isn’t surprising. Sometimes anise extract is a nice add-in.
I add 1TB cocoa powder and 1 TB Truvia (any sweetener you prefer) to 1/2 mug water and microwave till it is all dissolved. Fill mug with heavy whipping cream and heat to preference. 😋
I made this - without the collagen. I used Half & Half for the milk. OMG! It was so good! It was sweeter than I would prefer, but that is easy to fix. I used powdered vanilla, which might have contributed to the extra sweetness. I’ve been in the mood for hot chocolate lately, so this was timely.
I make a simple cacoa drink in morning . 1 tablespoon of organic baking cacoa with 1 tablespoon of Monkfruit sweetener and 2 tablespoons of coconut cream . Blend with coffee frother . Simple and easy and all products from Costco . I would use Allulose but not easily available in Canada . The online price for the small amount of Allulose is way too much .
I make my own blend of hot cocoa slightly different. I use hot water about 1/2 c to blend the dry ingredients and then I add HWC to top off the cup and then microwave for 30 seconds to warm everything thoroughly. It works wonderfully.
Because I'm diabetic I limit any sugar. Chocolate is a big no-no for me. But I made some of this, and I was in heaven. After not having chocolate for so long, this was definitely a super treat for me. Thank you so much for this recipe.
I make something very similar, but add the spoonfuls of cocoa etc to a mug as the milk is heating..add a tiny bit of cold milk to the mug to make a paste then the hot milk..or half milk half water..but if your organised..this way is probably better.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was shopping at Amazon for some sugar free/keto hot cocoa and I actually saw one for like $48! Thank you again. That's looks so good.
This is delish. I use my electric milk frother to mix it comes out really foamy but use an extra tall container or it will whip it out of a cup. YUM thank you!
This hot cocoa was AMAZING! I only had coconut milk, which is very creamy, but I will make Hemp milk bc of dairy and almond allergies. Highly recommend! 🎉
I have some grandkids who are really trying hard to reduce their sugar. I plan to make this for them for Christmas. Thanks for sharing and all your hard work making great recipes.
This turned out very well, I used Jay Rob Egg white powder in place of the collagen & only 1/4c of monkfruit powdered sweetener, no salt of course. Thank you, very good recipe & with added cream may not even need the protein powder. I am in UK
I use a pure unsweetened chocolate block from Willies Cacao (I’m in the uk, not sure if it’s available in the us) and when I put it in chilli I use a fine grater…I’d do that with this mix, then just stir well with a balloon whisk. Save all the processor dust 😄 I like the flavour variations with this too!
This is absolutely delicious... so glad I found you. I have tried so many keto recipes, that are horrible. You are batting 1000 in my book, thank you ❤
I’m so happy to find your channel😊 I am a type 2 diabetic & I love hot chocolate so this recipe is one I will definitely make. I have made several of your recipes & they are absolutely delicious. Thank you so much Carolyn, for all of the time & effort you’ve taken to create these wonderful recipes oh & by the way my name is Carolyn too. 😀 Have a lovely day 😀
I used a blend of brown erythitol and swerve, organic cacoa powder, and frothed coconut milk. It is the best so far, I just desire a more robust chocolate flavor. I will try the Dutch Processed cocoa powder next time, I just used what I had, lol.

Yum! I saw someone making non keto creamer and she added a bit (t ?) coconut oil at the end. It blended in and settled all the powder together rather than having all the dust... 🤔
Dear Carolyn, You look fabulous, Your hair looks really good and what an amazing color on you. A big fan here, We met 7 years ago in SF, on your book tour. Your recipes are a permenant part of low carb style.
Hi Carolyn, this mix was much tastier than the low carb hot chocolate powder mix I bought, I had a fine sugar free chocolate of 90% cocoa that worked amazingly in this hot chocolate powder mix. This recipe is also good for me because I have lactose intolerance ! I made it once with lactose-free milk and once with almond milk, both hot drinks were so delicious. You made me happy, thank you . By the way, your videos are also ..fantastic, so I'm subscribe To this channel .. ❤️😋!
The great part about this is that you can even adjust it after the fact. Too sweet? Add a bit more of the other ingredients. Not sweet enough? Stir more sweetener into the mix.
Hot chocolate is so quickly drank by me that I gave up putting all this work into it 😞 but by all means If you love hot chocolate and you don't drink it that fast put the effort in! I still say Carolyn's is great! For me, I'm easily entertained by two heaping scoops of vital proteins chocolate collagen with stevia top off with two to four tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and two drops of trader Joe's organic stevia. I'm in heaven lol
Love all your recipes, Carolyn!!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I have spent so much money on so many different sugar free hot chocolate mixes and they just are horrible. Excited to mix this up today before the below zero temps hit tomorrow.
Thank you for this recipe! I love, love, love it. I have made two batches; the first one has unflavored collagen protein and I use it with HWC & water (coffee), and the second batch I substituted my favorite chocolate protein powder (Equip) for the collagen. Both batches are great with a little HWC and water/coffee. Also, I found if I finely grated my chocolate bar, I could mix the batch with a hand whisk - less messy for me. Love your recipes and appreciate your time and effort to bring us great recipes and videos!!!
You read my mind. Hot cocoa was my daily treat at bedtime. But the options available are awful. I attempted to do the copycat swiss miss recipe. It was better than everything I tried and helped me realize I was overshooting the amount of cocoa required. Making it keto left it lacking big time in creaminess. I can't wait to try your version and maybe get my nightly treat back. 😊
Great tip and recipe. I have from Perfect Keto some mint chocolate and salted caramel collagen; going to make couple different flavors. Thank you. Finally a better hot drink.

Yummmm! Love your recipes and used many or variations according to Australian equivalent ingredients. While I am nearly always happy with my efforts I live alone. They are all very good quality ingredients, I think you could easily just make the mix and be happy with it.
I'm guessing you don't need milk because you add heavy cream.
WOW! Never thought to add anise to hot cocoa! Can’t wait to try it! 😋
@AllDayIDreamAboutFood I have organic cacao powder, would this work with the same measurements?
I always have heavy cream on hand for coffee so thank you for this tip!.
I boil water and after using whipping cream about 1/3 c, add the water, I love it and no dirty pots!
Great tip!
I use half heavy cream and water.
Me too. I skip any sweeteners
I make decaf for the liquid then add cocoa powder, monkfruit drops, salt, vanilla and cream.
Mocha Cocoa!
Yumolicious!! ❤

It would work great and my puppy would like a puppachino please@@grainiac7824
Thanks for the share! I will try this.
So the monkfruit, if powdered, must be actually erythritol with monkfruit
Monkfruit itself, u need very little of.
@@grainiac7824I would use cream
I just make hot water , teaspoon cocoa powder, one pkg stevia. Then a teaspoon butter and a slash of half and half
