I probably watched this multiple times over a 3 hour period, pausing and replaying.. it was really hard. ! I hadn't used my camera to do any of this.. after 2 years. Now, I recorded a video walking through my experience doing this as a metaphor for doing hard things!! Thank you!!
OMG, this is the best Sony ZV-1 video I've seen till this date, I originally bought the camera because of your recommendations so it always makes me really happy to see it in action in your videos 😊 I sure hope Sony is watching and sponsoring your content creation journey 🤭 Well done Philip 👏
I don't know how to explain how helpful this was! I know NOTHING about cameras/videography, but this was easy to follow and made all the difference in what I was trying to record. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You're the Jedi Master of the video world, and I'm just here trying not to trip over my own feet. Keep up the amazing work, and thanks for making us mere mortals believe we can do it too!
Yooo. I’ve had the ZV-1 for 9 months now, but I’ve learnt so much more from this video than any other video on Manual Video Shooting, on this baby !! I knew that I was underutizing my camera, and now I feel so much more confident to use manual mode on the ZV1. Thank you so much !!!
Oh wow!!! I’ve been saving up for one of these, and next week is THE week!! I used to work in a camera shop, so I know my way around a camera, but this information is SO valuable. Your videos have been on point for me lately, bud. I can’t even believe it!! Thank you!!! 🙏
You gave a complete description of the correct settings and the considerations in the settings. I am very open minded after watching this video about zv-1. Thank you so much
dude, this video has been a life saver for me. i can't even imagine how long it would have taken me to achieve this successful set up without your amazing tutorial. thank you kindly!!
very helpful for a beginner like me. thank you. but after doing the adjustments, playing around with it. I was almost satisfied with how it looks on the screen with only problem: flickering light from my lamp. why is that? how to solve it on ZV1 Thak you.
I am expecting my ZV-1 to arrive this week or maybe next week and seeing this kind of videos being uploaded lately is such an awesome help. Thank you, friend!
Fantastic job! I do have a question. If my camera does not have a c2 button nor pages like yours does, do you have another video with this updated camera? I am at the point in the video where you are explaining how to use the camera like a phone. Thanks again!
I love the video, thanks for putting it together. I've seen a few different videos on how to set up the ZV-1 and I feel yours is the best. You explained why you did what you were doing, which was helpful. Now I just have to get those other instructions out of my head and focus on what I've learned from your video. Don't get me wrong the other videos were very instrumental in getting me to learn the camera. I just believe your was a little more in-depth.
I think I finally know my way around this camera. And, I can relax and concentrate on other things than stressing over my camera. BTW, the picture quality is quite awesome compared to my smart phone. So glad I got it.
YO THANK YOU omg i hated this camera for so long because it cropped but turns out i was just in steadymode the WHOLE TIME LOL. I just wish the battery life was better! loved this tutorial.
Just got my new camera and taken it out of the box. I have only ever used my iPhone and my DJI Osmo Pocket for taking video for You Tube so all the terminology is new to me. Your video starts to explain in simple terms and shows lots of examples. I'm interested in any other videos you have for outside recording, which others should I watch? Thanks and love the simple clear instructions. :)
Very nice tutorial and thank you for it. But it has one big mistake! This camera is mainly used for vlogging videos. I will not buy the ZV-1 for studio videos. A setting for moving videos would be more useful. Full auto mode is not very good. If you have automatic shutter speed. In closed spaces under light, the image flickers. The big problem with this camera is vlogging.
I don't use my SV1 for food unless it's vlog style, but this was super helpful! I've definitely learned some useful bits from this video, thanks, Philip!
Hey bad skin guy I just coming back to your Video to say thank you much on this I've had my Sony ZV-1 for almost 2 years Im a travel vlogger currently in Malaysia and to this day rarely used it because the quality or the exposure were just F"n annoying to deal with and i gave up and just used my Gopro 10 or iphone... This video seriously got things on point and that "iPhone option" is overly amazing, ether way recorded my first video today with these new settings and 1000000% better, its like i got a new Freak'n camera... Much respect my guy
Dude I had my ZV-1 on Responsive and it would very quickly snap to focus on the palm of my hand then back to my face when holding the camera at arms length. I changed it to 'standard' as you suggested and it wouldn't even refocus on my face when I removed my hand from its view.
Thank you for this most informative video. I walk about when vlogging but I don't find the stabilisation with the ZV-1 as good as my Go-Pro and DJI cameras. Is that because it is not designed for that purpose or am I possibly using the wrong settings.
This was great! Do you have anything about external mic settings? Im having a HORRIBLE time getting external mic to work properly and its just not recognizing it.
I've been using this camera for 3 years and it's a constant nightmare. You get the setting right than it always seem to change it, I've filmed 1000s of videos and still can't use it properly. Doing this video for the 10th time as again the camera when stupid. I don't recommend it. I actually nearly smashed it against the floor before. If you've got 100s of hours to waste then this is the camera for you. For example: - Started filming really dark suddenly inexplicably - had to reset - Video quality became grainy - had to reset
Thanks for this thorough video, do you have a recommended setting you like to use for strictly outdoor settings where you can not control the lighting?
Thank you so much! This is one of the best in-depth & highly informative videos. Thank God I came across this channel 🙌🏾🙌🏾 could you please do an in-depth zv1 with crane m2s gimbal as I'm still struggling to use it?
what is the small hand held you have attached to small rig? I like it .. but dont see it listed?? thanks.. nice video. Love the camera, but frustrated as it is impossible to get the software updated no matter how I try..
Hey Philip, thanks for making this video, really helpful. Im in the UK so probably slightly different settings on the camera. However just 1 question (sorry), on your record settings you mentioned you record in 24P 100M. However when I go to that menu I only have 2 options which are 25p 100M or 25p 60M, ive set it as 25/100 as that is the nearest to what you mentioned, wondering if it is common to have different menu options like this? Thakns
@@pandahot586 Ahhhhhh. I had been wondering about this myself. However to change it to NTSC it says it needs to shutdown and reformat so I'm worried about losing all the data on my memory can ard or worse, corrupting the card. I best read up a bit more about this before jumping the gun. Thank you!
This video is so helpful thank you! I just got this camera maybe 6 mo ago and honestly haven’t used it to it’s potential, (personal use) and so far I am not loving it… I’m a canon girl. I wanna sell it. However after your video maybe I’ll give it another shot!!
This was is helpful, such great information w/ the movie mode & resolution choices section if this video. Question, do you have any information about the utilization of an external mic. I was having trouble w/ the 3.5 inch cord for a RODE Lav microphone. I wonder if this is a settings issue that needs to be adjusted to manual, and/or does it have anything to do with the 3.5 inch TRRS cord? Do you have any recommendations on how to properly use an external Lav mic (with cord).
Love all the settings tips you are absolutely amazing. I do have some questions tho… i went to my kitchen to record but had those dark black horizontal shutter speed lines in the frame. How do you fix those? Another thing with these settings i have to get a uhs i u3 sd card.
Wow you are great. Thanks so much u helped me tons. I need to go over it again, I ve learned a lot. Just got this camera 😅 and want to use it for my channel. Greetings from Munich ❤
Do it, friend! I’ve been saving here and there for awhile, but made a sincere effort recently because I really miss having a camera haha. Every dollar is one that wasn’t there before, and that much closer. Good luck!🍀
I bought the zv1 after seeing one of your videos but I returned it because I couldn't figure it out and it was overheating, may be I got a bad one. I have ordered one again because of this video, hopefully it works for me this time. Also, it would be nice to know what software you use for editing your videos and settings you use to export them to Instagram? I was shocked when I saw how IG compressed my videos even though they mention 4GB is the maximum upload size on IG. So i reduce all my 4k to 1080 × 1920 before uploading and there was some improvement. Also, do you prefer shooting in 16:9 or 9:16 on cameras? I think 4k in 16:9 on cameras might be better since you can adjust the frame in pro (if using pro).

Thank you so much for making this! I learned so much and was able to easily follow along with you!

Excellent video! Great explaining (and love the little reality check ... "this is not an f'n Avengers movie. It a cooking video on the internet").
thank you so much, I had no idea really how to use my new camera to vlog, but this has helped me tremendously

Best video ever about sony zv1

I’ve had my camera for over a year and still haven’t mastered my settings😐 thank you for being so informative 🙏🏽 will be watching more ❤
Thank you for the video!! Where did you get the camera desk tripod in your talking clips? Love to get that for my desk set up
you mentioned having video on how to shoot in manual focus, any luck on that?
Legendary video, you are a ZV-1 hero. We might not be filming Avengers movies but you'd make the team and would be a sound recruit 😆 Thank you!
Simply outstanding 🎉 this is the best video I’ve seen in years. A true in depth and perfectly explained tutorial 🤩. Thank you sir

Hi, thank you! Question - how to avoid light flickering?
