  • One of the most terrifying attractions ever conceived was the scad tower. An attraction that wasn't common to most amusement parks. Essentially it was a structure where you fall at the speed of gravity before landing on a net. However, over time locations for scad diving have been decreasing across the world. What is the reason? Well, let's find out.

I believe the 12 year old girl survived if that gives people peace of mind. There are articles about her relearning to walk.

Just hearing him describe it there's no way, imh, I just can't rationalize how somebody could survive that

@@bjtgaming if you google "extreme world 12 year old fall" you can see she survived but with major injuries

I AM THE 13 YEARS OLD GUY!!!! The Orange County Convention Center and IAAPA erase everything from internet and media, they didn’t even pay the hospital account. How and where did you find the info about my accident? I need that info 🙏🏻 I broke my left femur, my hips, my spine, couldn’t walk for 2 years and all because they never set the net I fell directly to the ground!

You were only 13 but God damn its America you should've been taken care of, I don't know how far your parents pursued this but liability laws have been around the longest.

I was fortunate enough to get to do the tower in Dallas in 2020. It was a ton of fun. Shame to see it gone.

Minor off topic nit pick, 7:32, if construction on the plant began in 1935 World War 1 wouldn't have delayed the construction. World War 1 began in late June/July 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, and lasted until Nov. 11th 1918. America's involvement didn't begin until 1917. Though during the 30's you did have the Great Depression, rearmament of Germany, and military build ups around the world. World War 2 began on Sept 1st 1939 when Germany invaded Poland, if your talking about the European perspective, for the American perspective America didn't fully involve itself until Dec.7th 1941 with the attack on Pearl Harbour, and Dec. 11th 1941 when Germany declared war on America. Though you could make a valid argument for putting the start of WW2 in 1937 when the Second Sino-Japanese War began, which was on of the bloodies, brutalist, and longest campaign of the Second World War.

Three human error accidents in 25 years (are 3 too much) but still a good safety record compared to many other extreme rides. However there are new towers for far less investment and even TANDEM SCAD coming up for the US in 2024!
