    You've done some of the best product reviews anywhere. Very helpful and insightful. Please keep them coming. How about one on track boots? P.S. A 1:31 and change is moving pretty darn good at Barber. I've only had the opportunity to get on track there once as it always seems to fill up so quickly, especially in the advanced group. Maybe we'll be able to snag a spot this year.

    I bought a set of Q4's from STG for my 2021 Kawasaki ZX-14. I may have bought "too much tire" but they are AWESOME. We'll see how they wear. I got 4,200 miles out of the stock Bridgestones, and had plenty left on the front. Keep it up guys!

    got them on my aprilia tuono factory,like to ride fast from time to time on the street mixed with some sooth ride just for the pleasure.I bought the bike with 5000km on it and now 11 500km at the end of summer and amaizingly all thread is still there and seems good for lot more..wow! I'm in canada so mornings and late drive are often in mid to cold temperature below 15 degrees and the tire always feel safe for the ride and grip to the ground even with brutal accelerations and without having to warm them a lot. i will buy those tire again for sure.highly recommanded!

    Had chance to use these tires on my r6 at my local trackday yesterday and loved them the front end feel is amazing under heavy braking and the rear felt very planted and there really do come up to temp quickly started the day at 32psi front and rear put at the end of the day i found that my drive out the corner felt better at 32psi front and 30psi rear i laughed under my helmet cause thats the same pressure talyor nap found that worked best for him

    One thing that is very very important in tire comparison is tire profile.Every tire I try I use a paper cutout of the tire profile to compare with some of my other tire profiles.There is quite a bit of difference.If you look closely,you can see the difference between the Q3 profile and Q4 profile when flat on counter.The shoulder of the Q4 is more flat and the profile of the Q3 is rounder.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад

      The Q4 is designed for track use more than street riding. While every bike reacts a little differently a rounder profile will steer a little slower than one that is more of a peak with the sides being flatter. When you are leaned over the carcass of the tire will deform increasing size of the contact patch. Construction of the carcass as well as air pressure will influence how much the tire changes shape when loaded up.
      Riding on the street you want the bike to be stable, have reasonable levels of grip and transition from upright to leaned over smoothly. On the track having the steer faster is a plus, a front tire with more of a v shape usually gets that done. End of the day there are a lot of variables involved so a tire may feel one way on bike X and a little different on bike Y. For this reason the only way to truly understand a tire is to ride it. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      Both tires have excellent grip so they will be fun to ride on. The Pirelli typically last longer than the Q3+ and the Q3+ has a $50 mail in rebate on sets currently. The only complaint we hear on the Q3+ is they do not last long enough, everyone loves the grip they offer. - Brian Van

      Taylor used 32 front and 30 rear COLD pressures with no warmers at the Barber tire test. The rear is not a low pressure tire like most of the race rubber today. - Brian Van

    Brian,
    I wanted to get back to yo about this tire. 1st have you had any track day experience with it? What did you think? I am currently using a Q3+ on a 959 and am over powering the tires on exit. I was thinking of using this tire next. I primarily ride track vs road, 15 track days this season and still counting .

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +1

      I have not ridden this tire personally, Corey (one of our staffers here at STG) has used them on his S1000RR and he likes them. He said the grip was awesome, everything he expected and then some. With his 1000 he went through the rear tire in 2 days on the race track. He is bringing in the old one so I can take a look at it. I will add Corey is running a fast advanced pace at the track and is not using tire warmers. - Van

      Sportbike Track Gear Brian , thanks for the prompt response . He is an advanced track day rider or racer? Two days is fast to burn up s tire. I run tire warmers to decrease heat cycles , I was hoping for 4 days a set. Sounds like high hopes. Thanks for your feedback.

    I have always been a fan of Dunlop street tires ( Qualifier IIs etc) until I bought some Metzeler M7 RRs. Absolutely night and day better. Check out the results from last weekends NW200, all but one winner on the German rubber, a few Dunlop pilots pulled out with tire issues.

      Metzeler and Pirelli are the same company selling under 2 brands. While their tires are similar often times the Metzeler slicks are different than the Pirelli's. I ride Pirelli slicks on the track and feel they are the best available today (far better than I am a rider for sure). The Q3+ has a very solid reputation, tons of grip with the biggest complaint being they wear fast (the more grip the faster they wear). The Q4 is capable of much faster lap times than the Q3+, completely different tire, built for the track more than the street. - Brian Van

    Just had some Q4s put on yesterday as a resort to be the ONLY option left, MYYY O MY, I just don’t think I will go back.
    I’m not a pro or have been on track yet but I had Parelli 2s prior to the Q4s and it’s just hitting different. Real different.

  • @Soysaucemoto
    @Soysaucemoto 6 лет назад

    So is it safe to say that the Q4 won't last as long as the Q3 plus? The Q3 plus rear only lasted 8 canyon sessions (5 Malibu, 1 ACH and 2 SCV) before the sides got down the wire. I don't go by miles bc the center lasts a long time like the original Q3 and old Q2.

    I’m thinking of running these on my 2015 CBR1000RR. I can’t stand the 190/50 tire that’s on it currently. The bike feels heavy and lazy when I go to lay it over into a turn with such a flat tire. I’m looking at the 190/55 to help ease leaning the bike over and quicken the flip from side to side. But, would There be any added benefit in going to a 200/55? Or is it an unnecessary size for my bike?

    • @sportbiketrackgear

    6:15 those q3's with the tread groves that far into the edge, so they're implying that a bike can seriously lean that far over on wet roads. Sunny no way i can see that without low siding

      Sportbike Track Gear I have not. Dunlop rep is saying it’s a one way directional tire. Also, when the edges get completely worn out they slip and slide in dramatic fashion lol. Just a compound that is super sticky but very low lifespan if you’re going a fast pace. I’m thinking I may save money at this point by going to slicks.
      For reference I’m doing 1:59’s at Chuckwalla.

      These are really more of a track day tire than they are a high mileage street tire. You can run them on the street, they just won't last very long. - Van

    That tire will not last on the street. I got maybe 1700 miles, and that's only if your not always riding hard and really pushing the tire b4 I had to swap. I love that Q4 tire but my current tire is the perelli Angle GT. So I could get more miles per $ cause I don't always push the bike to its potential. But the Q4 is a damn solid tire. Never had 1 slip on that tire. After about 400 miles I had ZERO doubts in the tire and that's a good feeling one I can't say about the Angel GT. My next tire will be another Q4 despite the mileage. It's worth every penny. Try it and you'll love it, if your one that loves laying the bike down in the curves with confidence.

      Thanks for the info I don’t ride allot maybe 1000 miles a year cause of the winters in NY but when I ride I like to take the back roads and want a dot track day tire to give me more confidence and dial in the suspension better. Small price to pay if I only have to change them yearly

    I had my q3 plus at 27 hot in rear and 36 hot upfront , i had tons of grip. Can you run lower psi on the q4? I feel a peace of mind knowing its gripping more

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +1

      For the Q4 I would stick with the pressures we note in the video, remember we got them from Taylor Knapp direct so they are the same pressures he ran on the track in testing. - Van

    • @King88_8
      @King88_8 5 лет назад

      Theres a workable window, less pressure might give more grip for a lap, but then the tyre overheats and you lose grip. Its all in your mind....Stick with the recommendation...

    Is pilot power 2ct good?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +1

      The Pilot Power 2ct is more of a street tire where the Q4's are designed to be used on the track more than the street. We have used the 2ct's on the track in the past and feel they are a good tire for a street rider that wants to get a good mix of performance and life. On the track the 2ct is not a bad tire for novice or early intermediate riders. - Van

      Sportbike Track Gear ok, bought a bike with a new rear 2ct and front 2ct needs to be replaced. I don’t know if I should get a new 2ct front or replace both with q3+. I usually corner as hard as I can on highway ramps and curvy roads.

      We are using Michelin Power RS Tires on the STG R3, solid without warmers. I have used that tire on the 17 SV during the Roadracing World Middleweight Bike Shootout and really liked them a lot. We did not use warmers on the bikes and I felt confident enough to drag knee in less than a lap. Check out the Power RS: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/michelin-power-rs-tire-set/
