HUGE Gains with Stand Alone ECU on V8 Swap

- I can't believe how much better the 1UZ runs with the stand alone. The factory 92 LS400 ECU was making the engine run so poor that the aftermarket stand alone ECU and harness from Spitronics made a HUUUGE difference.

For everyone asking, I've linked the exact harness and ECU kit I purchased from ebay in the video description. Not sponsored! But I do like the kit!
What year are the r8 coils you used from?
@@Scottydoing 2008, I just got cheap ones from rock auto
How much did it all cost at the end of the day for the StandAlone ECU?
@@schmitty_luv $1400CAD ish
@@DirtGarage what’s included in that? Are individual coil packs included in that price?
Love the UZ swap! These motors (1uz, 2uz, 3uz) are very underrated in my opinion. I just 300k on my 2uz and it runs super smooth, checked valve clearance when I did timing belt at 270k and all valves were right in the middle of factory spec still. I’ve had great luck with reliability, and those 1UZ’s can make some good power on stock internals
Happy to see my canadian peeps doing such great videos on RUclips
GOD bless you for making this video. Something I needed help with
Your engine sounds WAY healthier! Great work! :) Keep building and wheeling!
Thanks! Will do!
Love your 1uz videos. The first vehicle I learned to drive, 3.slow w/ r150 needs a 1uz to replace its dead 3.slow
I did the 3.4 swap and am now looking at the 1uz...used to have the 3.0. At least with the 3.4 I don't get passed by school buses going up the pass anymore. Lol
Curious to get a rough MPG estimate with a healthy engine! I'm getting about 19-20 in my early 1uz SC400
Thank you for your time making this video.
Of course!
@@DirtGaragequick question. How do you wired the oil pressure gauge on the dash? I still kinda confused
Thanks for this video. My car constantly gives me issues. Time to do a standalone and it dosent look that bad to do (megasquirt) or expensive PNP (Link Ecu).
Awesome, hoping to get my turbo pickup running a stand-alone ECU soon!
Sweet! I don't think I'd ever do forced induction, has alot of power as is!
Link of the spitronics is not working . Please
Great content and I am glad the Spitronics is treating you well.
Me too!
I may do this swap in lieu of a 22rte..
I like your content man, this video is great keep up the good work, what a build!!
I appreciate it!
Wow she sounds much smoother now. Amazing what a new ecu can do! Crazy that it simplifies the wiring so much. I wonder if it will get better mpg as well. Should be interesting to see the next video.
Yeah I am certainly going to see what it does as far as fuel economy! I'd imagine it will be better for sure, I am using alot less throttle input to get better power now.
As an engine gets more efficient the power increases and mpg increases ...if u can keep ur foot outta it
Have u tuned it yet to get all the mixture and afrs right?
Much much better now and simplified! those old flapper intake sensors were terrible. By chance did you upgrade that anemic air filter? that thing was soo small.
Waiting on parts to arrive, but going to stock air box for a 1UZ
@@DirtGarage Get some cleaner air that way too!
@@curtism7203 Yup, keep out snow and water. I hate the pod filter I was running
I got a 2uz I’m thinking about putting it in my 87 carburetor truck an I got motor harness no ecu yet what would you recommend? An great job on that truck man looking good
Do it! I have a 2uz 4Runner and love it so much I want to do a UZ swap into something in the future and I plan on using a Haltech ECU
Very Nice! Where did u get that stand Alone ecu ? How much it cost?? Came with all the wires required??
It came from eBay. About $1200 CAD, and extra $200ish for those Audi R8 coils. Came with everything all plug and play.
Whats your front axle buold and how often do you break while running 37s?
Another great video thanks. very nice build and awesome that you have done it all yourself. great channel 👍
Thanks 👍
Good stuff bro love this channel. Your truck is amazing. Sending greetings all the way from Hawaii.
Thanks for watching
Welp. I think this seals the deal for a 1uz over a 5vz. Fantastic vid
I just noticed this unit doesn’t have knock sensing unit , are u using anything other support for that or are you just not running them at all and if so how
That red interior is rad!
Thank you!
worked perfectly thanks!
did u have to do any tuning for the coil pack conversion?
I now have a full float rv axle with disc brakes and an e-locker
From what year? I would love a setup like that
Do you still have that auxbeam switch module in your truck if so how do you like it?
Yeah I do, it's awesome!
What mpg do you get? You mentioned this thing gets better mpg than the original motor? Also will you be doing more videos on this build?
thats one cool truck
Nice work man👍
Thanks ✌
What front fenders are those?
www.toyotafiberglass.com
How did you get the v8 badge in the grill?
I bought the badge on Amazon and stuck it on
Is there a way you can email me your tune, I can’t seem to get mine to run correctly
is there a current link for the spitronics setup?
did you have to do anything to the charge system?
Nope. That's on the body harness.
Which model of stand alone hardness are you using? 🙏
Spitronics, link in description!
Sounds awesome.
Thanks!
Hey man I wanted to order the stand alone but the link isn’t available do you know how I can get a hold of one of? Thank you !
Check out spitronics website and send them a email! Their customer service is awesome.
@@DirtGarage thank you so much man 😎
How difficult would this be on an older Toyota, say my 1984 w/ the 22R?
Pretty much much exact same process
@@DirtGarage awesome… I’d like to keep it Toyota so that gives me an awesome option.
Where does the fuel pump 12v+ output hook into? The body harness as well?
I did not bother with this, I just kept my previous fuel pump wiring. But if you want the pump to be ECU controlled the 12v goes into the COR plug. Builds not Projects has a video with his Spitronics install going over that
Where did u get the harness for the starter and for temperature gauges? Thanks
I made them myself. Starter is 2 wires, main cable to battery and trigger to ignition, temp is a single wire, oil pressure is a single wire.
@@DirtGarage do u have diagram by chance or I can pay for one
@@DirtGarage I would like to buy one if. Possible
@@DirtGarage is it possible to get one please
@@DirtGarage i can pay for one to be made really need it for my swap
Tuned? Or running on stock Map?
Exactly how it came from the box. Never felt need for tune.
Cute thumbnail!!!!!
“Smooth”
And no knock sensor??
Nope! Simple
What happend to the idle control sensor?
Deleted and blocked off
Did the ecu do that? Thinking on getting on like that
Which transmission are you using?
R150
@@DirtGarage Thanks, I have a 85 FJ60, I want to upgrade but it costs, so I am thinking bring it back to zero, AKA stock with slight mods.
👍👊
