Very informative and to the point videos! Couldn't find the info on the bell housing/adapter for the r150 to uz engines you used. I've swapped a 1kz diesel in my truck but looking to do a v8 in my 4runner.
I know it's a little late, but you were complaining about your idle being different every time you start the engine. Thats probably because of how it was wired up. On the original 1uz wiring harness, the IAC valve (and a few other components) is powered by the main relay circuit. On your truck, the main relay is controlled by the ignition switch, but on the Lexus, the ECU had control of it through the MREL output from the ECU. The ECU would keep the main relay on for a few seconds after the engine was turned off to reset the IAC valve to a starting position. You probably did not Wire that properly, so your IAC would be left in a random position every time you turned off your engine.(Your IAC valve could also be sticky... you could try servicing it.) There is no way to plug and play the 1uz and have it properly wired, in a pickup/4runner of that generation. You have to make some small adjustments to the stock chassis wiring for it to be correct. 1) disconnect the ignition switch from the main relay wire and connect the ignition switch to the ignition power terminal on the ecu, 2) connect the MREL terminal on the ECU to the main relay to activate it. 3) wire the Circuit Opening Relay through a safety device. (Unrelated to the idle problem... this is for safety. This is usually hard wired on 1uz swaps, which poses significant risk in the event of a crash. This circuit is supposed to shut off the fuel pump if the engine stalls. This prevents fule being pumped out of the tank if the fule line is severed after a crash. Normally this is controlled by a switch in the Vane Airflow Meter, which, of course, the 1uz doesn't have. At very least, this should be wired through an inertia switch. Better yet, a module that looks for tach or ignition signals and turns off the COR when the signal stops.)
DG, I plan on buying a 96 LS400 tomorrow. I take it that this kit will work on it? Or is there a different kit for an automatic transmission? I'll do some more research as well.
Very nice. I also use Spitronics ecu on my 1uz, Saturn Advanced. Great power and good fuel consumption. Not sure if your ecu is wired through the narrow band sensor. Mine was wired through a wideband afr gauge, using the analog output. Can not remember what value I put in for target afrs and lambda control but it makes it sip fuel and you can monitor your afr values while driving. Also adjusting the maps makes it a breeze. I wired in an intake air temp sender to pull timing on hotter days. As Spitronics does not have a knock sensor, the iat sensor pulls a bit of timing on hotter days to avaid pinging. I run the old dizzy cap setup. Also going to do a CoilOnPlug conversion in the future. It was my understanding 1 of the cam position sensors was needed. Good luck and keep it up

@@DirtGarage I thought so. Is this from the seller out of South Africa? I’ve been very tempted to go with that kit but I wanted to see an example first.
Your idle control was functioning correctly. You wired the swap wrong. In factory form the idle control stays on after shutdown and moves in a full sweep so it can reset and be in the correct position for the next startup. Your must have been off on shutdown making the next startup wherever it picked up from.

My whole dash is functioning just like stock. And speedo still uses stock cable. Stock transmission and my transfer cases are same as before the V8
