      @@Red_Beard_Builds Engine is in, found the right transmission and driveshaft combination since mine was automatic and I want this one to be a manual. Air intake and battery are moved. Crossover pipe and exhaust done. Now I'm finishing some non-swap related things while I wait for some parts. Then its wiring time.

      @@matthieucorbeilwalsh Greetings from Venezuela. I am doing this swap right now.
      My 4runner is a 1992 5 speed and the donor engine comes from a 2001 runner automatic.
      I am not a mechanic by profession, I just love cars and I am passionate about mechanics.
      At this time I already installed the motor and all the mechanical part, now I am going to start with the electrical part.
      But I'm needing the combination meter diagrams, I can't find them online and as you know here in Venezuela it's a bit difficult to find them.
      Some of you will have them by chance, I appreciate your help.
      I have seen this video like 10 times or more, and I need the diagrams to be able to put the cluster, rpm, speed, to work.

    Good on yous replacing the old engine to drop in the FAMOUS TOYOTA 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINE & they are a Brilliant Engine & I have a 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4V6 5VZFE Engine & it has done 265,000 Kilometers & my son Regan brought the 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4V6 5VZFE Engine when it had done 117,000 Kilometers & when it had done around a 119,000 Kilometers I replaced the Spark Plugs with the HGK Iridium Spark Plugs & it's the best that I could have done & & when my son Regan Sold to me when it had done roughly around 125,000 Kilometers & I had kept up with the service & do the oil & filter changers & when it had got around 140,000 Kilometers & decided to check the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs & when I got the Spark Plugs out I wiped them with a clean rag & they looked really good these NGK Iridium Spark Plugs & I just screwed them back & just nipped them up tight & I never ever torque these down & you don't need to tighten tighten these plugs too tight as I just nip up tight & when the Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4V6 5VZFE Engine had done roughly around 185,000 Kilometers I took the HGK Iridium Spark Plugs out & check them again I just gave the a wipe with a clean rag & they looked fine & this time I put some PBC Copper Coat Grease on the threads of the Spark Plugs & at roughly the same time I did the Timing Cambelt, water pump,Tensioner & Idler pulley & I had to buy a new crankshaft pulley as the other was rust around the crankshaft itself & even though I was using a puller it actually broke the crankshaft pulley & I a terrible way way of getting the pulley off & in the end I had to use heat getting the pulley off & finally I got it off & I sanded the entire end of the crankshaft & with fine wet & dry sandpaper & came up really good & I priced a New crankshaft pulley at the Mount Shop in New Zealand as I live in New Zealand & the Mount Shop wanted $850.00 plus 15% GST stands for Goods Service Tax & I wasn't going to pay for that amount of money & that was way too expensive & I got a new one from Australia site for $336.00 & the first one didn't arrive & Aimee my Daughter-in law got back to him to say we never received it & he said he did send it & I told him we haven't received at all & I don't what happened to it & he sent another one & later down the track I had received it & got in touch with the guy to say we had received it & I don't know what happened to the first one he sent to me & never ever showed up otherwise I would have sent it back to him Bugger & must have gone missing in the post well anyway before I had put the new crankshaft pulley back on I put PBC Antiseize Copper Coat Grease onto the crankshaft & some on to the crankshaft pulley slid on easily tightened the crankshaft with a impact gun & put everything back together & sweet as & I noticed when I took the old cambelt off the timing was one tooth out & having the New cambelt on it spot on the dot & running really & I will be doing the cambelt change & water pump tensioner Ideller pulley & I will do the Camshafts seals & crankshaft seal & replaced the crankshaft seal last time around to when it is due & short time later on in a couple of weeks or so I will checkout the HGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & if they still look & will just wipe them with a clean rag & put them back in & just nip them back in & if they need to be replaced I will replace the Spark Plugs but at the moment the engine is running Sweet & no sign the 3.4V6 engine has a miss fire at all & you Sir will over the moon now that you have a Toyota 3.4V6 5VZFE ENGINEin your vehicle & if I had the money I & built this 3.4V6 5vzfe Engine up & so it would reboot 30 over sized & put 6 to 7 to one Venolia forged pistons steel crankshaft & Excellent Quality after market conrods & good camshafts to go with a Supercharger that got on these 3.4V6 engines & have a slightly smaller drive pulley to go on the Supercharger & able to pull more boost pressure & run lake pipes under the side skirts & have 2 oxygen sensors both sides of the exhaust system & I dont know if can get slightly bigger headers made up to fit the 3.4 V6 engines as that would even make a better improve ment & there is a Lovely Beautiful Blonde Lady on Utube & her Tacoma only has one Turbo on the 3.4V6 Engine & it pulling 11.11 seconds 1/4 mile & speed 121 miles per hour down the 1/4 mile & could be 122 mph pretty impressive in the USA at the drags & I wish you Sir all the best with your 3.4 V6 5VZFE ENGINE & have great fun with it Kind Regards Peter

    I’ve done everything on my 1990 4runner, rebuilt gas tank, fuel pump etc, plugs, wires and she’s overheating, tore the front off the engine replaced water pump and thermostat, no difference still overheating. This vehicle is so solid no rust great interior, no way I am scrapping it, there is a fresh rebuilt transmission and clutch. I found a donor vehicle with 180,000 miles is complete, if I park them side by side it should be easier than this vid because all the needed parts are there, hopefully can just switch it all over. I have a mechanic who will help me your vid is a great heads up to what is in store so thanks for that, hope I finally windup with an awesome 4Runner🤞

      @dirkfrazier9779 5 месяцев назад

      @@duddleypiercejr. I do! 84! Long bed, and sorry, No it is not for sale. But, out of curiosity, every thing has a price! I have a 1984 Toyota long bed, 85k or less miles, on a 2.4 carbureted motor. I bought brand new in October of 83' and unfortunately, even with Rust Proofing, it's first 4 years in Wisconsin's (Salted not Plowed) Winters quickly took its toll. It has rust, nothing that can't be fixed and I do have front end damage on front passenger side that a hood, fender bumper, grill, headlight assembly, I have blinker and headlight, body work to align what bolts the body pieces bolt to down to the frame which is straight, won't fix and after that will need a paint job to have a primo completely stock truck. All original with bed cap included, less than 85,000 miles (I have to look) it's like 84k or something. Inside is clean with buckets, wing windows, slider rear window, cap too, tachometer, SR5, 5 speed manual, 95% on tread of tires, oh, has a cracked windshield that worked fine (still does) the State I moved to (WA) said I would have to replace to transfer registration which they wanted me to pay sales tax on since I was out of State even though I bought it in this State! (Go figure). I drove her here for over 2 years before being cited for expired tags and so I didn't have the cash to do the body work or pay the coffers here for their precious money they felt I owed them. I parked it having another rig, I didn't pursue the injustice, however, I did drive it for a number of years every Winter after a good snow fall because it's 4×4 and they don't have plows here just like the police won't venture out in inclement weather unless they are called and have to. They are sworn to serve, but that might require getting their hands dirty having to push someone to get them moving (the same in every state!). So, I have no intention on selling it, but money talks and some amount might persuade me, if your offer doesn't swing me then maybe someone out there has an offer that will. this comment will be here forever so someone might make an offer that does swing me before I get started on my project after I take care of a couple of wrinkles before I start on my project. Also, I quit driving it when the voltage regulator went out and someone stole the new one between moves, so it will need one of those too. Happy Hunting! 0:04 0:04 0:04

    Hey, Currently working on a 3.0 to 3.4 swap… is there any harm with using the baffle from the 3.0?
    On the right side where the ac compressor mount interfaces with the engine mount, there’s a gap.Did you use a shim to compensate for the gap? 3.0 mount seems to be thicker than 3.4 where it bolts to the block.

    I don't know if you mentioned this in the video earlier I might have missed it but you need to put a body lift on your truck after you do the swap otherwise the engine will hit the hood because it's taller than the 3.0. That means you have to use different cooling hoses too for the radiator because they need to be a little longer

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  11 месяцев назад +3

      Nope! Didn't mention it because it wasn't required. In some cases you have to cut a bit of hood bracing out, but 3.4s fit nicely in others without cutting.

    Get a new cherry picker.....
    Use old (lightweight) to make a light rack. With a couple of old batteries (for power and recharging) placed on back of cherry picker (for counter weight). A new slide in bar for lights (12 volt LEDs). Should be plenty of light for work and filming. Depending on how you make your extendable light bar, it could be adjusted to fit just under hoods and be far enough to not interfere while working on engine. And to come in from both sides of vehicle .
    Just a thought!

    • @DirtGarage

      Probably not. Not because it's a automatic, but because it's a 2000 model, I always try and tell people to stay away from 99+ because they commonly have immobilizers. If your lucky it won't, usually base model trucks won't, but limiteds have generally all have immobilizers, but also some SR5s 😅. Either way if it doesn't have one your set, the motor, harness and ecu we used in this was from a auto and we attached it to a manual.

    Put some AT-205 in that engine hoist and it will stop bleeding down.
    The 3.0 must go, like you said the 3.4l is so much better. No comparison to the 4cyl which is what I originally had.
    You don't have to cut the fuel line if you are not in a hurry. On a 4cyl truck there is a threaded coupler you can use to connect the two. That couple is located near the fuel tank or towards the engine along the hard line. From 4cyl to 3.4l you want the fuel line from 3.0engine flip it 90* and couple that to the fuel line on the pass side. As with Toyota brake lines the thread pitch is the same, longer brake lines needed just add a stock brake line, and that is the same with fuel line hoses.
    I did this same swap just not to long ago into my 84-04 SR5/TRD pickup, and yes that's is all the years/generations of Toyota's my rig is built with. When I did the 3.4l swap I took it one step further by rewiring the complete truck from fuse box harness, battery harness, dash harness, fuel pump, all the way back to the tails lights. Moved the battery to left hand side and also installed a complete dash and HVAC system out of a first gen Tacoma. The 04 e-locker works as Toyota intended with the stock switch and the speedometer is driven by my 84 RF1A transfer case. Everything under the hood is out of the a first gen Tacoma and in the same location as well, right down to the opening in the firewall for the engine harness. You would never tell that my rig didn't come like this from the factory. Next engine swap may just in fact be the V8, that job will get a 3.4l to 4.7l adapter harness when I locate one.
