this episode is absolutely tragic...Eloise pushed Daniel away from his passion his entire life and into physics knowing it would lead him to the island, where he would die at her hands! AHHHHHHHHHHHH Lost is so deep
This death is the most tragic of the whole tv show n even more than Locke. Faraday understood in his last seconds of existence why he exist, that he was a tool for his mother and that he was a tool because of him, because he went back. Because he's in a loop. Because he's the one that triggered the oceanic 815 crash. With the journal, Eloise and Charles will now they will have a son, that DESMOND is his constant , etc...they will know many stuff about the future. That's why Charles wanted to stay on the island as the leader.
I think Eloise has to be the saddest character... knowing you're going to kill your son. Knowing exactly when and how he's going to die and by your hand. In her scenes you can see how pained she is maintaining this destiny for him. Hence why she wanted the bomb to go off, she wants the timeline where she doesn't kill her son, where she can nurture his love of music.
She was preggers at the time because later when she guides Jack and Sayid into Dharmaville thru the underground tunnels, Richard says about the radiation from the nuclear device...you're pregnant! So this exposure to radiation is what makes Faraday the way he is.
@@darthvader9735 He was despeate that there would be no time until the hatch explode Faraday didn't understood he was the one that create the chain event of the whole tv show
OHHHH! So now we know that Dan got shot because "Jacob's touch" was stopping anything from killing Richard, like with Jack and Richard with the dynamite on the Black Rock.
dan was like my 2nd or 3rd favorite character but i thought his death was great. When you think about it, he lived his whole life wanting to become a musician, but his mother knew he was going to die, so she put him on the right path and eventually sacrificed him for the sake of the island. Also, the island was done with him so it "took care of him" just like it did with IIana and several other characters
I don't think so at all. It informed a lot about why Eloise does what she does going forward. She knows she needs to set all these events in motion because they already happened. It's heartbreaking--she needs to send her son to her death because she already killed him.
@Sankaranarayanan B ce18b051 Yeah but if "whatever happened happened" then she has no agency. So she can just sit back and do nothing, and it will "happen". Why not test the theory, and, like, NOT get your son killed? If it's going to happen anyway, what's the downside?
@@terracottapie If she doesn't push him to pursue physics and send him to the island, then he wouldn't be able to go to the past and tell Richard how to get rid of the hydrogen bomb and so on. If you think about it more deeply you can understand that everything had to have happen exactly how it happened else the island will be destroyed/MiB leaves the island
Well for one it had been 23 years so it probably took a few minutes to clue into where he recognized him from and he was dead in a few seconds of seeing him. But Richard says "he wasn't gonna shoot me eloise" so maybe he did remember him.
RA: Do we know each other? DF: It doesn't matter. This shows exactly Dan doesn't want to explain the whole plot with time travel shit caused by the Island.
Oh my gawd 😫 no wonder she was coaching Desmond on how to be prepared for someone you love to die in front of you, inevitable, warning Desmond, about Charlie 🥺
When desmond called penny on the boat he activated his « constant », which gives him the possibility to help his relatives to remember in the afterlife. When Eloise killed her son she also activated her « constant » (her son), but instead of helping her relatives to remember she decides to spend more Time with her son in the afterlife because of the remorse. They both gain the capacity to foresee the future because « rules doesn’t apply on them » and their role is to help their relatives in the afterlife to « move on »
Best explanation I can think of is that Dan was aware that they had very little time to try the fix and was absolutely desperate to try and save Charlotte. He probably thought if he could get Richard on his side again asap everything would go fine.
My theory is that Faraday had a query to inquire, which, required an insurgency of urgency. Gun in hand, prepared for an emergency, Daniel did emerge upon scene.... or so it seems
Daniels gonna leave his notebook here in the 70s where Eloise learns everything about the future, but one phrase sticks out from the rest. “Desmond Hume is my constant.” She will go to great lengths to ensure that man fulfills his destiny.
This was so stupid. Why would Daniel go alone with a gun drawn while surrounded by armed hostiles and think he will be okay and these people will do what he requests
This reminds me of how screwed up the whole time travel thing was in season 5. Wacko, tho the individual episodes themselves were nevertheless interesting.
Daniel meant the older eloise who sent him to the island knew. Daniel knew she would remember what he said years later and was talking to her older self.
Lemme just run up into a camp aiming a pistol and shooting at the ground. Cmon, he had death written all over his face. Couldn't believe they killed him off like that
Love Lost. I appreciate the broad strokes of Daniel's and Eloise's arcs. But I didn't quite buy or like the details of HOW they got there. I think they probably could've made the journey to get to this ending work a little better.
@@user-hu9vi7nk1lOne thing that doesn’t make sense is that she was already pregnant at the time, and that the swan explosion which caused the pregnant women dying would happen soon after, so there would have been no way for them to have known that pregnant women were in danger
I think she was reasonable. And killing Daniel was self-defense in her eyes (She was just protecting Richard). I think in general the others are not evil. Only under Ben's leadership did they become like this. However, Jacob did not want to intervene because he believed that people should make their own decisions. It was important to him that they had a choice. And Ben failed at it. That's why Jacob was disappointed in Ben.

Jacob or you could even say the island itself sets up a series of events that lead to “the incident” by the darma initiative, one of which is Eloise discovering daniels journal describing time travel and the importance of Desmond ‘ this leads to the creation of the swan station, this leads to the crash of oceanic 815, when the hatch button is failed to be pushed. Prior to this event realizing the smoke monster/mib plans to kill Jacob he selects 7 candidates to replace him as protector of the island, which he designates when he touches them in some point in their life before they came to the island. This series of events ensures the candidates get to the island. Meanwhile mib/Smokey orchestrates his own plan by deceiving Ben into thinking he was communicating and following orders from Jacob, to make him evil he instructs him to kill the darma initiative members. This leads Ben down a destructive path. Along the way Ben develops bitterness and resentment towards Jacob ; losing his adoptive daughter for one, which causes him to kill him (mibs loophole). Mib orchestrated this whole thing with Ben to ensure he chooses to kill Jacob. Then MIB disguised as John Locke tricks Richard into believing John Locke is supposed to die so that he can take his form in the future. The show is in a nutshell about the self preservation of the island/heart of the island containing the life essence (The source), Stopping the smoke monster from leaving and destroying the island. The predestined paths of jacobs candidates and their Destiny, redemption, love, friendship, acceptance, human experiences. Life, death. And a purgatorial victory that tries to tie all religions into one. Jack becoming the new protector to defeat MIb and then Hurley replacing him.
