When triple clicking on the object, you select the hidden/softened lines and that's why weld will not work. You can do a selection box around the ENTIRE object and use weld... you don't have to select parts of the object at a time.
Entirely correct Don, thanks for pointing this out. I feel silly that I missed that, but you caught it right away. To re-iterate. With the NATIVE WELD tool, using Triple-click for your selection method does not work (as it also selects hidden geometry), however a large window selection around your whole object should work with native weld. Native weld will still weld edges into a curve, Eneroth's extension will weld possible circles into true circles.
Nice one Ty. I wondering what happens when you select the whole thing in the bowl example. Perhaps the hidden edges are also being welded and in doing so the hidden edges “break” the circular edges around the bowl.

I noticed a very interesting way of you using follow me tool. I would love to see a video where you cover more advanced ways of using follow me. Not the basics but more of the ways that you used it in this video.

You can click again after triple click to unselect hidden edges. I think it can help
