If you're not sure what to say during your unity ceremony at your wedding (or where to put it in your ceremony/how long it should be), I wrote a HUGE post on my blog with 16 free scripts for 16 different kinds of unity ceremonies: wayfaringweddings.com/unity-ceremony-pdf-scripts-you-can-steal/ I HOPE THIS HELPS!!

My wife and I did a salt covenant. We asked the pastor to read a piece I had written about the covenant of salt from Scripture. We each had a glass of salt and we poured them together into another decorative glass. The symbol is, once the salt is combined, you can never separate it. It was extremely meaningful to us.

I’m really interested in doing the plant ceremony. I saw it on Four Weddings they incorporated their Moms into the ceremony and it was like passing along their fruitfulness (or something like that?). It was really emotional and I like the idea of having my Mom more in the ceremony.

We have a metal sign with our "new" family name and hooks..as he is adopting my son. We are going to have locks with everyone's initials.and put them on the sign. We even had extr books installed so as our kids get married they could add their partners, grandkids.
During this We will have our families light candles as a sign of being our village

I'm surprised you didn't mention the jumping broom ceremony it's cool because you could design the room anywhere you want and it's still very popular today after your ceremony you jump over the broom and it's supposed to be in a clean sweep in your new life

The rose ceremony is a little too much like what happens at a lot of funerals for me personally. Jumping the broom is also a cool ceremony. If I recall correctly it comes from English Romani weddings!

Jumping the broom is a historic African American tradition that goes back to slavery

@@rm7165 It goes back to slavery because, sadly, all their traditions were stripped from them. They were then handed the Pagan traditions of their overseers and owners (who were of Irish and British descent). It goes back in the British isles for thousands of years.

Handfasting tends to be a pagan tradition and that’s why we’re doing it. I’m pagan and it’s so meaningful to us ❤
