Im Scottish Scandinavian and my fiance is German, i have always loved this part of my heritage i am going to the courthouse and and having a jp wedding with eing exchange. i am 55 now, i got married at 25, we dated for 2 yrs, engaged, were married 13.5 yrs, together 17. we have been divorced 7 yrs. first of all another person has to agree to marry you/me. looking back my ex and i were far too co-dependent, had many personal issues, for me sexual abuse by a female from age 2-5, i didn't remember til age 30, a father who never personally identified as an alcoholic but his drinking affected our family, mom, i had 2 older bros, 1 younger sis. All 4 children were born between august 65 and december 70. A lot of love in the family, but a lot of disfunction too. Part of getting married at 25 was a need, want to leave the family home. I feel getting married in my 30s would have likely been a better move for both me and my ex. We are 2 yrs apart, i am older. My depression would have been very difficult to leave with for my now ex wife. We didn't have healthy relationships with same gender friends outside our marriage. Mostly grew up with another couple, her high school friend and i call her Laura's mate Paul. My ex wanted me to apply at her work place which i thought was ridiculous as we spent every waking hour outside work and sleeping at our respective parents homes for most of 3 yrs. We have 2 wonderful daughters 16 and 21. My ex married a man 17 years her senior. He is a good man and has been a good step dad to our 2 daughters and they have a beautiful 15 yr old of their own i love who had a heart transplant at age one and has beaten cancer twice. I certainly wouldn't advise someone else when they should get married. For me i was a very poor communicator in my 20s and wanted non sexual physical touch but wasn't able to communicate that. I gave my wife a lot of non sexual physical touch, playing with her beautiful hair at bedtime to where she fell asleep comfortably, safely, lovingly. I figured in my brain b/c i do these things she should want to do them back. Expecting her to read my mind without verbalizing my needs, wants was sort of insane. I think it is difficult for young adults in teens or 20s to show affection that nourishes another physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually if there parents, weren't able to show the desired amount of affection one may crave. Going back further generations to those who experienced the 1929 great economic depression, ww1, ww2, so many factors i think effected parents abilities to be as loving as they may have wanted to be simply by their own experiences, besides the pressure of having a job to have some sort of home, food on the table. I certainly don't have the answer to when is the best age to get married. In the present day of August 2024 i feel blessed to have had all the experiences i had whether tramautic or joyful. I feel very fortunate that i still have 2 parents alive at ages 84, 85 and i am in a position to be the best son i can be. Romantic love i think has as many definitions as there are humans. "Mistakes" can be looked back upon years later as gifts. My ex wife is probably my best friend and i love her husband too.

You can get married at 50 and divorced at 60. There’s no divorce age. It’s all about the people involved and their willingness to be in the relationship for the long haul

Remember the US slowly adjusted size numbers, I guess to make Americans not feel bad about their weight. Any online clothing I order that I think is from another country I size up two sizes. A UK person that says they wear a 12 would be about an 8 in the US. It's even better if you can get your actual measurements in cm and order based on that.

This was really helpful, thanks! I'm getting married next year and we're having a handfasting ceremony but still need to work out the logistics of it. I have found that where I live (in the UK) there are a few celebrants who can do handfasting ceremonies so I'll be looking to use one of those! Getting married is a little more complicated here as you can't just have a friend or family member get officiated, and weddings have to take place in specific licensed venues. So what a lot of people do is have a licensed wedding in a registry office, then have a celebrant come to their actual venue and do an "unofficial" ceremony which is more personal and customised!
