Morning my little coffee connoisseurs...just a quick tip...I've had one of these machines for about 4 years now and sometimes (as I've found out) when descaling the machine sometimes just refuses to come out of descaling mode😡 what I've found to work is first REMOVE the canister after the descaling solution has gone through the machine then put at least 800 ml of water to rinse! if it still blinks orange once all the water has rinsed through press down on the lever and hold the power button for 3 seconds (to come out of descaling mode) and you should have a steady green light... Good luck!
Doesn’t this video have you do that? I’ll have to go back & watch. It doesn’t tell you to take it out of descaling mode until after it’s rinsed I believe.

Hi Maureen, we're sorry to hear you've had trouble descaling. If you'll give us a call at 1-800-562-1465 our machine experts will be happy to assist you.
You can rinse it first and I recommend doing so. But you can just do the descaling without rinsing if you want. But obviously you do need to run a rinse cycle after descaling.
That is right. The instruction shouldn't say it will stop automatically because it won't. Makes me think if the one who design this machine really use the machine like owns one and try to clean it, and descale it, because if they do, they will figure out that the instructions is not accurate.
My Vertuo plus won't start the cleaning or descaling process.. the orange light starts to blink, then it just goes to a Red light. I've tried factory resetting and it still does the same.
Hicimos todo el proceso al pie de la letra y después de naranja la luz núnca cambió a verde, se puso rojo, que puedo hacer, ahora ya no puedo preparar mi café 😢
I could not get the machine out of descaling mode!! Very Annoying! So I called customer service and they sent me a video chat link via text immediately and were very helpful! Not like usually with most companies where you sit on hold for an hour…. you will need your particular machine #, which is the last # on the bottom of the machine if you can’t find it anywhere else! You can also chat from their website. 😊
The video say approx 20 mins for descaling, mine has stopped after less than 10 mins, and there is still plenty of the solution left in the tank. The green light has come on so i guess it thinks its finished. Not sure what to do next, any ideas please anyone?
Thank you for your comment! In this case you need to repeat, to descaling process, with clean water. Please fill the water tank full, at every step of the process. This way the machine should exit automatically from the descaling program. Sincerely: Nespresso
This video is confusing. First it shows you how to rinse, then it shows you how to descale. I followed the directions for rinsing thinking I was descaling. I suggest you divide this into 2 videos.
Nespresso claims that it's best to first run a rinse cycle to prep the machine for descaling. Then run the descaling cycle, which includes another rinse cycle for rinsing out the descaling solution. 🤷♂️
@@toddausmus7639honestly I believe it is best. When you rinse it first, all the loose gunk comes out and anything that isn’t loose is softened. Then the descaler can work its magic.
The lactic acid used in our descaling product is food grade. This type of lactic acid is also used as a food additive and antioxidant in the food industry (E270) and thus is not carcinogenic. However, our descaling agent contains a concentrated amount of lactic acid, and therefore it is highly recommended to avoid contact with the skin or other parts of the body. The lactic acid contained in the Nespresso descaling solution is obtained by fermenting carbohydrates from vegetables. Therefore, there is no risk of cross contamination with lactose or milk proteins.
@nespresso, it should not take a mechanical engineering degree to descale a freaking coffee machine. If you take more than 2 minutes to empty and clean before rinsing, the whole process aborts and you have to start over. This is crazy AF.
We certainly understand your frustration, and we hope you know that we're always here to help. Please give us a call to speak with a machine expert. We are available 24/7 at 800-562-1465.
Even if I do this annually and live until 200 I'll still need to refer to this video each time 😅
Dude same lol. I’ve only had the light come on twice in a year of use, so I’m not going to remember.

That’s happened to me as well! I’ve had the same machine for about 5 years and it’s still going strong! Thanks for the advice!
Me too
This worked! Thank you for taking the time to explain it.

I don't know what I would have done without this instructional video.
Thanks Nespresso
😀😀😀
Savor your well-deserved coffee paradise! ☕️🙌
If you're here, while descaling & rinsing you HAVE to let the tank empty & machine run dry for each. You don't need to keep filling the water back up
I’m in the process of descaling my machine. The first time was a breeze. Somehow it’s been a nightmare this time. Nespresso support is dicey.
We are very sorry about the inconvenience. For further support please reach your local customer service center through this site: nespres.so/a/cxhk4c
Great video. Easy to follow. Works perfectly.
This works well but you need something bigger than a little for the descaling
Does it need to run out of water to stop or is it a timed thing
The machine will run the entire tank of water during the rinse cycle.
The rinse cycle is never ending. It continues on and the light never becomes solid green.

@@coheelinkhi I've just left a tip regarding that very issue.....
TRÈS COMPLIQUÉ VIDEO EN ANGLAIS SEULEMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm already confused. Look like I skipped the earlier stage. Went straight to descaler mode. It's absolutely ridiculous. The whole process

Rinsing process is a loop. I wait for the green light forever.

When you watch this 3 times and still have a red/green light and have to find the actual method on Reddit that’s pretty sad.

I don’t think you had it on descaling mode. If it turns green that’s just rinse mode. I think.
Descaling instructions start at 1:56 The first part of the video is rinsing (they call it cleaning in some parts) only.
I’m trying to descale this machine which it says it has done, but now trying to rinse and I can’t get it to work…HELP

Contacted through 800# and all is well. Thx
Its stuck in descaling mode! It went through the rinse process and is still orange. I keep adding water to rinse but it wont come off descaling mode.

Can you tell me what is the solution to this problem? The green light is not coming.
You can just hold both buttons down to turn it off if you’ve rinsed after the descaling process. That happened to me as well.
I did the descaling process, but by machine still has the yellow/red light.
Thank you for your comment!

Can I use vinegar instead of the descaling solution? I don’t want to use something that is harmful to me or the environment.

Or you could just do the regular rinsing (cleaning, like at the beginning of the video) over again. It’s not that deep.
Is this mf Kurzgesagt?
