    Just some quick tips. It’s slow. Give it time. The descaling process takes over 20mins. When it’s done the light still stop flashing. Don’t add more water. Don’t press any buttons. Just let it figure out it’s done. Takes annoyingly long. Once it’s done blinking all you do is rinse the water container and fill it once it’s been cleaned. Then place it back and press the start button and it will be orange then press the start button one more time. I’d rinse it a few times to make sure the descale stuff is out.

    Ok mine eventually after an eternity stopped blinking but then just shut off. I then filled the tank with water to attempt a rinse and I think it’s just descaling again. As someone who has owned a descaled very nice espresso machines this is a confusing and difficult process. If you would like to workshop user experience and design please reach out.

      Excited to get my new Vertuo plus but it is stuck in rinse mode. Ive done it three times now and still blinking orange. It wont open.

    Does the flashing orange stop when it’s done descaling or just keep flashing like mine is? The water/solution is pumped through but it’s still flashing orange and doing nothing. I expected a green light to indicate it’s done

      Utah, USA. I went through the entire descaling and rinsing process and it’s still showing a red and yellow light.

      @@nespresso Do the machines use the same light/indication to identify different problems in different geographical locations? It's great that you gave the support phone number, but surely the machine problem is identical regardless of location?

      Location should not affect your machine unless you're using a machine purchased in another country. We do not suggest this as it will void your warranty and could damage your machine and home.

    Is it best to clean after descaling since it needs to be rinsed after?

    My Vertuo plus won't start the cleaning or descaling process.. the orange light starts to blink, then it just goes to a Red light. I've tried factory resetting and it still does the same.

    How long does it blink for during descaling process? Mine won’t stop blinking but doesn’t do anything after that.

      Hi, Marleni. Once rinsing is complete the button will be blinking orange every 2 seconds. To take the machine out of descaling mode, hold the button and lever down simultaneously until the light either starts blinking green or becomes steady green.       Mine is doing the same thing and I keep adding water and never stops blinking orange - does it just take one container of water through?

    Is there a specific capsule for descaling ?

      Over time and usage, the hardness of water may cause mineral build up in your machine which can affect the temperature, the flow and overall performance of your machine. Furthermore, mineral build up can also negatively impact the taste of your coffee, often making it more pungent. It's not recommended to use other solutions as Nespresso Descaling kits are specifically designed to work with our machines for the best results. Other descaling methods or competitive products haven’t been tested so we’re unable to advise their effectiveness or effect they may have on your machine.

    My machine stays in the orange blinking mode too. I've followed the video 3 times and also tried not refilling the watertank, but my machine just turnsoff after a while and when i turn it on agian, it is still in the orange blinking mode..
    When i leave the rinsing/descaling program, the machine still shows the half red and half orange sign..
    can anyone help?

    If you call Nespresso they will actually walk you through the process through a video call and watch it the whole time to make sure it is not a machine issue.

      Same thing happened to me the first time I did it. What the video doesn’t tell you is that the cycle will continue as long as there’s water in the tank. I kept adding water!😂. Fill the tank, but don’t add any more water, as soon as the machine gets to the bottom it should stop. Then press the lever down and the button for 3 seconds and it should go back to green light. Hope that helps.

    These machines are the sh*ttest! I've had mine replaced three times. Just descaled following these ridiculously convoluted instructions and now it's lit up red and won't work.

      The four minute instruction video is confusing to say the least. During the process, he keeps talking about removing the capsule when it had already been removed twice before. Essentially, this is a very poor set of instructions and perhaps they need to have an Internet connection to the machine and let the Nespresso people do the cleanse remotely.
