The good old harvest assist motor. Ice o matic has had a lot of issues with this. A bunch of revises and now a complete rewire of the harvest assist. Good catch. Any time I come to an Ice o matic frozen up, I look to see if the pin is still sticking through the ice plate.
Yea, Definately the Weak Link in the ice o matic ice machine.
Seems like a good call to replace, since it’s older and all the things that need replacing or will in the future.
We shall see. I hate to see My Customers Throw Good Money Down a Rusty Drain. It Needs Harvest motor & Cond. Fan mtr , Minimum & Labor to do it all Right now. Machine rusting out , water valve leaking / seeping right now & needs replaced soon. 13 yr old machine. Smart Money says Put a New Hoshi in its Place.

Thank you for your video of ice o matic ice machine, I got the problem of iceo 400, and it doing just mode of difrost hot gas no power coming to the seloniod valve could be harvest motor or the switch or replace the whole assembly harvest motor and switch

Ouch , from Resi installer to ice machine tech. Boy, someone threw u in the deep end. So, only difference between a ice machine and a airconditioner is the technology. Make sure u sign up for ALL THE ice machine schools Right away. it's a Must !!! Hoshizaki school , ice o matic & manitowoc schools. Without it YOU WILL BE LOST !!!
--- Similarities ---
Recovery = Same as A\c.
Evacuation = Same. Under 500 microns a must.
Welding = same
Pressure testing for Leaks = Same.
Finding Refrigerant Leaks = Same
Adding refrigerant = same.
Refrigeration theory = same. Know your Pt chart. Pressure vs temperature for different refrigerants.
Condenser fan motors = same. Just smaller
--- Differences ---
Circuit boards, electronics, hot gas defrost , Curtain switches , micro processors , water pumps, Water distribution tubes plugging up with crap. Corrosion , water leaks , harvest assist motors on ice o matics, No Evaporator fan = a Water pump is Now Your evap fan creating load on Your Evaporator Plate. Water inlet Solenoids , Liquid line solenoids ,
1) Allways make sure Condenser is Clean First !
2) Biggest Problem -Plugged water filters. It needs water to function. Make sure it has a decent water supply entering.
3) 2ndbiggest problem - Plugged water distribution tubes with junk , slime , bacteria.
4) 3rd --- Water Pump Plugged up with slime. Poor water flow. Clean spray bars allways.
5) 4 th biggest problem - Loss of Refrigerant. Not common. Don't alkways assume a Refrigeration. More often than not. Ice machines DO NOT LEAK REFRIGERANT. RARELY. 9 times out of ten its a Machine is Dirty issue. Condenser plugged with Lint & Slime inside Evaporator area / Poor water flow.

Hi ,I have an Ice o matic 1406fo2 (220v) it use to fill the bin in a few hours now on average it produces about 10 bags per day . I've noticed on the left side it takes a long time to release the ice and by that time it becomes deformed .... I'm in Trinidad, I've had technicians look at it , serviced it said it's working fine ,but it's not ,please help

Some of icematice design I wander what are they thinking. Example on pressure switches why don't they use shader valves that way you wouldn't have to recover freon to replace them and why do they put dryers on bottom of unit .They sure didn't think of service tech on design of unit

Are you sure that machine was going into harvest? It looks like the low pressure delay timer was out , or the evaporator was bad , I did not see hook your gauges up to see the pressure on your harvest cycle

Buy a Ge-H10G Leak detector to find leaks accurately.
Allways Clean Your Condenser First ! Can u see Through the Condenser with a Flashlight ?
Make sure evaporator is Clean and free of all ice first.
Make Sure All your Fan motors are Turning in the right direction , i find fan blades installed backwards ALL the time.
Looks like its time for replacement, if they had maintained it better then it would have been worth fixing. BER it, beyond economic repair!

I have a ice0400ha4 my question is does the harvest assist motor should it move while in freeze mode or should it stay still then move when in harvest?? Any help would be appreciated
in freeze - motor will spin to notch on brass wheel and stop. no more moving in freeze. in harvest - motor tries to move / slips on clutch till ice is pushed off then rotates to stop / notch position.

I have two 2013 iceomatic machines with small leaks around the compressor that I just can't see with bubbles yet
Buy yourself a Ge-H10 G Leak detector. It will make your life alot easier.
Turn ice maker off. Let system balance off for 30 minutes. No ice on the Plate. Go around with a leak detector. Check for cracked 90's from vibration. If u still can't find leak. Remove all rubber insulation from all piping and dry off tubing. Check for leaks. Check anything that contacts the floor of ice machine. Under drier ?
If u think leaks are somewhere sometimes they can be blowing from another direction. Leaks can be sneaky. Leaking Pressure switches ?
its probably leaking from the bottom of the filter drier and just blowing around the compressor. .

Iceomatic ice machines seem to have serious problems for 3-4 year old machines I have seen many leaks and evaporator failers working for C-store chain
Its Hit or Miss. I Have 3 Clients That i installed 3 New ice o matics in thier restaurants 10 Years Ago. All Good ! 1 Just starting to fail. compressor weak. 12 years old. still makes ice though. 1 Unit nickel playing coming off evap. 10 yrs old. 1 other iceomatic I did not install. ice 1406ha5 its a Lemon 🍋 Never ending problems. refrigerant leak / corroded out liquid drier at 4 years old. water pump failed at 6 years.

Harvest probe motor assembly Loose at back of evaporator area. Harvest assembly needs replaced.

@@OcRefrig thank you again my friend and also I wanted to mention that when I found the machine I found with that contactor burn out and obviously I replace it but it came out with this problem freezing up
it could also be the water pump stopping or getting a piece of scale sticking in the water pump impeller. clean machine real good before replacing probe motor. remove water pump and make sure its clean. no scale.
wash out water trough real good.
remove water pump.
check that water pump turns freely.
That Machine Is Nasty ,Sell Them A New One ,Youll Be Doing Them A Favor

Hello sir, I'd like to ask a question. I have an Ice o matic that won't harvest at a little homeless mission I help with. It had the harvest assist probe motor replaced but still no harvest. I checked resistance at coil and its 140, doesnt seem horrible... I hooked up voltmeter and watched for voltage but no voltage ever showed up long past harvest being frozen. What would be next point of diagnosis?
just Follow wires back from solenoid to find power if no power at solenoid.
usually there are a few parts in circuit, as soon as suction pressure pulls down to approx 28-30 psig low pressure switch should be closed and power coming out of it to timer block( black square thing) it times down and power comes out of that to solenoid usually. there might also be a Yellow cube relay in circuit. remove / inspect cube relay / swap yellow cube relay if u have 2 , they are same.

140 ohms is prob ok. you can put power directly to solenoid coil by making a little cord with 2 push ons on the end and plug into a extension cord to test solenoid coil and solenoid valve operation. remove wires to coil then hook your test cord to it. run ice machine, let it make ice when grid is full of ice. plug your test cord into a extension cord and power up hot gas defrost coil. slab of ice should heat up and drop within 2 minutes on the clock. unplug coil after ice drop to re initiate freeze cycle.
there is a Temperature switch on some machines that is a common problem, it is buried under the insulation with 2 black wires coming out of it. it is strapped to a copper refrigeration pipe under the top cover right in front of you.
