    Quick tip no need to adjust the low pressure control , just bypass it and flip all the switches on the timer to ON . Ice cube 🧊 size might be a bit thin but She should be fine 🤷🏻‍♂️😅

      Most likely you will need to replace the probe motor assembly. It is most likely the culprit.
      Turn off the power to the machine and check the probe motor assembly to see if its loose , a wire has come loose , motor will not turn , or probe tip does not move smoothly through the hole / maybe bent. Probe motor assembly should not be loose. Motor should turn smoothly by hand.

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig  Месяц назад

      1) unplug the ice machine from the wall or turn off the circuit breaker / Disconnect All Power from this ice machine !!! DO NOT JUST TURN IT OFF AT THE ice MACHINE SWITCH.
      2) Remove all the ice from the ice bin. clean out a big trash can , put 2 trash bag liners in it & put the ice in there. then roll trash can into the freezer while u clean the ice machine.
      3) Clean the Condenser with a Hot water garden hose. ( the big aluminum & copper radiator thing at the back of the machine )
      you should be able to see through it with a flashlight 🔦. wipe up any water than has got into ice bin.
      4) put ice back in ice bin
      5) turn on machine power at circuit breaker and plug machine back into the wall.
      6) turn ice machine switch to ice position.

    Phil, I have a 700lb a day Koolaire by Manitowoc machine that also makes a huge slab of ice once in awhile, happened twice in the last month. One of the newer style with an LG rotary compressor on 410A. Ran the machine thru a cycle, harvest time about exactly 2 minutes. Ice bridge thickness is a little thicker than I'd like, but everything else looks normal. Performance is good, quick freeze time etc. I cleaned the machine with ice machine cleaner (again). First time this happened I took everything out, cleaned and ran thru their dish machine. Machine was pretty clean, I installed this machine and bin was new in 2018.
    Any ideas?

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig  5 месяцев назад

      Hey Brian,
      sorry , i've never worked on a koolair yet.
      1) 1st thing i'd do is call tech support & see what they say.
      since its manitowoc it should have good tech. support.
      2) what initiates harvest on that machine ? i'd be looking there.
      maybe you could tell me the cycle of operation.
      2 minutes seems like a Long harvest cycle , most machines i see harvest in 1 minute and change if in good condition.
      Good Luck & how's the Electric van 🚐 working out ?

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@OcRefrig Electric van is great so far. These machines are identical to the pre-Indigo machines. The harvest is a little long, but this is a 700lb per day machine, doesn't look like it has that harvest assist air pump, plus it's a water cooled machine, not air cooled. There is two float switches in these machines. One is a high level, one is low level. High level switch cuts off the water fill valve. The lower level one initiates the harvest. On a typical freeze cycle after a sheet of ice triggers the ice curtain switch. The hot gas valve closes, the water fills until both float switches are closed, water pump is started after a 50 second pre-chill delay. Then the water level usually drops enough to drop out the high level float. After a few minutes of freeze, the machine ignores the high level switch. The low level one you can screw up or down to adjust ice thickness. I like these machines better than Indigo for the simplicity in that the ice thickness system is pretty foolproof and there's no silly microphone or troublesome ice thickness plate probe like on the older Manitowoc's. Freeze cycle is 7-10 minutes, I think it's a model KY0700W K for Koolaire, Y for half dice, 700 is #/day, and W is water cooled. The first time this happened, the slab of ice was so thick it had even encased the ice curtain, there was frost growing on the back of it! One of the status lights indicated water loss on the chart on the machine door. This made sense because the call I get was the icemachine was leaking water. This was true but that was because the water pump was dumping water into the bin because of the ice machine.
      The only thing I can think of was the evap might have had a thin layer of lime or something on it, and that was causing the ice not to harvest? But I thought after like a few long harvests the machine would shut down? Or maybe it just goes into safe mode. That's the downside of a simple control board with only LED's there's no diagnostic screen like on the Indigo machines. Only 2 error LED's.
      Went back today, machine seems to be running ok. I'll pop the cover off later and check the evaporator plate, I found a few other RUclips videos showing where some of the horizontal plates had popped loose and causing long harvests?

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig  5 месяцев назад

      @@brnmcc01 thanks for the info. glad van is working good.
      1) id call tech support.ask for if they are seeing this issue on other machines.
      2) i'd definitely look for defective evap welds , tubing separating from evap. , bent or loose evap metal.
      3) My bet is --- maybe water cooling is too cold. not getting hot enough in defrost is my bet. check head pressure in defrost. 2 min defrost during the day when your there. might be 3 or 4 min at coldest part of the night. faulty water pressure regulator , stuck open too cold 🥶? not modulating. check that inlet & outlet water lines to water cooled condenser have not been swapped over the years that they are correct.
      4) cooling tower water of city water for water cooled condenser ?
      Good luck 🤞.

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@OcRefrig Went back today, and checked it out. Evap plates all look good, ice curtain, water trough etc all spotless. Flipped machine off then back on to check for stored codes. Nothing. Let the machine make a couple batches of ice, 8:34-9:50 freeze time, 1:33-1:45 harvest time. Noticed ice thickness a little thicker than I'd like so I backed off the ice thickness water float about 3/4 of a turn, Now it's a little less than 1/8" bridge, and freeze time just under 8 minutes and 80 seconds harvest time. Those float switches aren't a consistent amount of water due to the refill at 3 minutes into the freeze cycle. Other than that, seems to be good, I think the first time it happened it was -3 degrees outside, and the ice machine is right by the double back doors from the kitchen. Perhaps it got too cold back there when delivery trucks or beer truck showed up to deliver kegs etc, they tend to prop open the door while bringing in beer kegs would be my guess.

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig  5 месяцев назад

      @@brnmcc01 i'd look at pressures in Harvest on a Cold day & see if they are below spec / evap plate not getting warm enough in Harvest. is head pressure staying up / not getting too low ? how's water pressure regulator ? is it a cooling tower or city water ? i'm still thinking it's related to water cooled condenser. i'd make sure head pressure never drops below 200 psig in Freeze or Harvest. you said 410a - so i'm basing pressures off that.
      if the problem goes away in the summer - you will know it's probably condenser water temperature related / water pressure regulator settings etc.
      good luck. 🤞

    Hey bro, just want to ask where is the adjustment of ice thickness of this machine? Thanks

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig  4 месяца назад

      it's the dip switches. add more time for thicker. off position is less time. on position of switches adds time. ie: 60 dip switch on = 60 seconds until harvest after Low pressure control makes at either 32 or 40 psig.
      60 on & 30 on = 90 seconds till machine harvests / drops ice.
      All switches off = When low pressure control closes machine goes into harvest right away.
      turn more dip switches " on " for thicker ice. off for thinner ice. Remember to allways clean condenser before adjusting stuff. machine pulls down quicker with a clean condenser. it affects ice thickness.
