John Elway had 95 career interceptions by the time he threw his 100th touchdown pass. Patrick had 19. They're not the same. The game was different back then, but that's staggering... and TD/INT DOES translate between era's. You can't tell me otherwise. I get total passing touchdowns and total passing yards being a moot topic because they didn't throw like they do now, but you can't just intentionally leave out quarterback win %, QBR/Rating, TD/INT ratio, completion %, and on down the line. Those are all metrics that translate. Through 5 years starting, it's not close who the GOAT is. It's his to lose.

Love Montana as one of the top QB's all time and the point about how hard it was to play in that time is valid. However it wasn't until near end of his era the league started the salary cap, revenue share and free agency to make the league more competitive. This had a huge effect on smeller market teams as they could now have a chance to build a roster and compete with teams who before could just spend whatever they wanted to buy their way into championships. Mahomes and other QB's from this era must do more with a lesser roster against better teams than times of old as the overall talent is spread out across the league.

@thehoot79 The defenses were much better back then. The off seasons were better, the pre seasons were better, players were prepared for week 1. Now it's takes teams until week 6 to adjust..
The schemes in general were better, player wise teams were deeper and could run 3-4, and run 4-3. QB's, in order to be elite had to study and read protections and coverages. Patrick is doing that, but not on a level that Troy Aikman, Steve Young could do at this point. Patrick usually reads on 1, then tries to make a play. That works today, and he's the best at it. The college Qb is way more successful in this era...
Patrick would still be successful in any era. But he'd have more turnovers for sure, he'd have the success Bret Favre had. Brett Favre would kill every record if he played in this era.

Peyton, Drew and Brady played over a decade and a half when QBs were smashed under a pile of big defensive LBs as well as salary cap. Now QBs are not only protected but they also get advantage from big penalties and they extend their plays and wins. What about Unitas and Staubach and others from that era? Unitas was Joe Montana before Joe Montana. Staubach was Mahomes like ability wise. They both played in eras where DB's could man-handle WR's down the field and Defensive lineman could destroy QB's. Let's be patient and see what happens with the rest of Mahomes career. Well 2 were just those QB sneaks where the team carries him across lol.
Still, who's defense was better? The Eagles had the better defense and Mahomes was still flawless against them. The Cheifs defense is average at best.
Also, the yardage is misleading because KC got the defensive td and the long punt return.
KC out coached the Eagles but as far as the QB battle, I thought it was even especially considering the Cheifs started the second half 21-3 with 3 straight td drives to start the 2nd half.

Also if you mention Hurts RBs, then you have to talk about Mahomes' WRs. Other than Kelce who is throwing to?
AJ Brown and Devonte Smith are WAY better than any other KC WR, yet Mahomes still only had 1 incomplete pass in the 2nd half.

The Eagles defense did not show up. They could not stop the run, they could not pressure the QB and Mahommes threw 50% of his passes to wide open receivers. Mahommes is great, but this was not a case of him carrying the team

Couldn’t stop the run, couldn’t contain the edge, and couldn’t rush the passer. Mahommes played well, but he really just did what he was supposed to do. A lot of revisionist history going around, I don’t remember the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being favourites Vs KC as they are saying they just saying that to make Mahomes look better. KC was the 3 point favourite going into the game in what was a “home Super Bowl” . Plus all I heard was Mahomes and the chiefs have more A+ level players and the coaching advantage while the Bucs had more B+ level players and in a game like this the stars are more important than the depth. That roughing call MaHomes got at the end of the Cincinnati game would NOT have been called when Montana played. The holding call at the end of the Superbowl, also would not have been called. WR's in today's game can run routes with little touching, in the 80's/90's they got hand checked and bullied all down the field, it's hard to compare the era's, back in the day QB's got pummeled and WR's got hand-checked and held with no flags.
