I see this as a step in the right direction for Pioneer. Hopefully more of their products will come out for both softwares.
I know most people wanted the DDJ-1000 but weren't willing to switch from Serato to Rekordbox DJ.
So instead of making products for Rekordbox only, it's better to have them work Serato as well and get more products off the shelf.
Then need to make xdj1000 mk2 Serato comp.

I think one thing to explore is whether the NXS2 Players or the XDJ1000MK2 Players support this as just an add on controller when plugged directly into them, like the SP1 or the XP1.
I wasn’t able to fully go into stuff like that yet (hence a First Look not a Review) but reading the manual, it certainly seems like that function is in the XP2 also. I’ll test it this weekend and post on my IG @mojaxx
From what I know it’s compatible with xdj1000mk2. Reason why people with those decks get the xpd2 not xpd1
great review, Yes I love my xp1. And i did map it to Serato a while ago. but if i did not have it, I will 100 percent pick this up . It is a no brainier for my DVS homies !! I use Silent cue alot in my djing. it is something you think you don't need until you use it and be like man where has this been all my life. I would like for a official mapping to come for us people who use both software like me . or Serato to open up more Midi functions.
is ‘silent cue’ coming to SDJPro as a full feature so I can just midi map it?

Rekordbox only users... transport mode is mappable via pad editor on a user page on the XP1

It works for the cdj 2000 nxs2 and xdj 1000 mk2 for sure

So pad mode 8 (transport mode) effectively turns the XP2 into a traktor X1 for serato? Am i getting this right? And if so does that also work for rekordbox in the same way? Would love to have similar functionality and transportability as a traktor X1 but with Rekordbox
Do you think the DDJ-XP2 unit is a very useful compliment to the DJM-S11 battle mixer and/or the XDJ-XZ controller, or do you think there is significant functional redundancy with these particular DJ mixers? Via your demo, I can see if you have an older technology DJ mixer that does not have any of the capabilities the DDJ-XP2 has, the value proposition would be much bigger.

Having to add this to the latest Serato controller from PIONEER, the SRT, is a joke! Mixars Primo has my thumbs up this year.

I think it's a totally over use of plastic today ( not needed )
The unit is completely the same hardware man
Xp1 , could easily of been mapped ( updated ) to work on Serato DJ pro
either a paid expansion or free update .
I think it's a waste of plastic , to bring out midi unit the exact same
When there was simple solution maybe
Bung it in the sea with the rest of mass produced plastic , hopefully the dolphins will have a better taste for it
if you think about it, the 56 mixer had the kill switch similar to mute

i feel the xp1 is much better atleast for the labling on the pads. and i think it easy to map for serato and traktor and vdj too

Does it work with DJay Pro? I swapped from rekordbox due to them changing it to monthly subscription.
I use DVS in RB and was wondering if this can be used to scroll/select/load tracks, and take the track back to the start instead of doing that on the laptop all the time.
And will this be picked up alongside my DJM250MK2 in RB so I can control the mixing side of things or will it try and use one or the other.??
That's the very thing I wanted to do. Did you end up trying it How did it work What do you like What do you not like? I was also kind of thinking about the Pioneer 750 Mk2 Recordbox? Do you know if Recordbox DVS works well with the 750 Mk2
It's A Shame It doesn't work with serato play (like it works with rekordbox)
Even if it won't unlock serato, it would be more useful to use it with Serato Play Mode as to prep and play around with flip mode without hurting ur computer keyboard

I have the ddj sx2 and i want this extra is this a waste of time or my way of thinking an extra on the fly big sample pads and can you do music production with it?

I get the practicality of the 16 pads and the flexible work flow but silent cue is not a massive shortcut at all...at least for me. Adding £299 to the price of an SRT though?

I did the video a while back saying I’m not going back to OSX for DJing now. Still need to review the Schenker laptop itself, that’s coming soon.
@@Mojaxx I love your rational and measured review. I'm just about to have to swap out of the apple fleet (2mbp's and an imac) due to its insane expense to reprocure a similar spec dongles and all. I can't even justify it for work as I replaced pc's with the some of the last multi ported machines from apple the mbp 2013 and they have not been able to justify the extra bs that comes with the dongles either. I want something that works relatively easily and PC do have it. The shencker looks good. I'm also thinking of a ruggised dell which seems like a good deal second hand. Anyway keep up the great reviews my man.
Hi. Why I cannot activate Pad Mode no 5 for pitch play mode? When i hold Shift and press Pad Mode 1 nothing happens. But if I hold Shift and press twice the Pad Mode 1 the 16 pads becomes all white and when I press the pads nothing happens. Is there something wrong with the device or? Please help. Thank you.

DJ Antenna xp1 has everything xp2 has except serato. so if you are a rekordbox user no need to upgrade unless you want to use with serato

Can you use the XP2 to activate the slicer mode on Rekordbox? I am getting a ddj 1000 which does not have the slicer feature. I like this and it is on the Rekordbox software, just not available on the ddj 1000, so I was hoping I could use the XP2 to get to use this feature
you can change one of the options on top i.e. Beat Jump to Slicer in Pad editor. Then every time you select Beat Jump you will have slicer mode on your pads

To me, it looks like Pioneer Dj is trying to pacify Serato users. Also trying to dig into that Serato money. I, personally, deleted Serato while ago and currently using Rekordbox. Mainly because of Rekordbox's Library management....
i stop using serato because rekordbox library too, but Serato DVS is way better.
@@JaxJazer You're absolutely right. Serato is better for turntable use... But Rekordbox isn't bad...

We need an SP2. I wouldn't buy this being a club and bar DJ. The SP1 is already hard enough to fit in a booth. 8 pads had worked perfectly. I see this for battle DJs only so they have quicker access to controls or for a home set up.
THIS! Literally if all they did were include RGB pads to make an SP2 it would be perfect
So now PioneerDJ is all about Serato. When will they worry about adding missing features to Rekordbox. How about adding "Flip Mode" and "Date Mode" to Rekordbox.

Still can’t get it to run properly
This is the same trick Pioneer did when they tried to pass off the DJM2000nexus as a upgrade for the DJM2000 when all they did was swap the 3 black FX frequency knobs for silver ones plus a firmware patch. Shame on you Pioneer! I bet the DDJ-XP2 is identical to the XP1 under the hood so why not just let XP1 owners have the Serato MIDI mapping?
I feel this is a waste of money. If you own the DDJ 1000, why spend an extra $250? Thanks but no thanks. I enjoy the review.
It’s really aimed more at DJs who are playing out on regular club gear like the 900NXS2, and similar mixers, which have audio interfaces but don’t have any dedicated software controls.
Would certainly be a bit more redundant used alongside a well-featured controller.

I was sold with the new transport-mapping. ATM I am using traktor, a generic mixer and a x1mk2. No Joggs, TTs or anything. With the new transport-mapping-options I can finally ditch the x1mk2 and traktor and switch to Rekordbox.
Too much talk about comparing this to the xp1 make a separate video for that and we could have cut this down to 4 minutes
No individual effects control...lol...you have to be kidding!! The SRT is pooped!
