- In this Signal Colors: Primer, I'm taking a look at the Collision Devices Black Hole Symmetry LTD Edition Mirror Polished paired up with the Elektron Analog Four MKII. When I REFLECT on it, this pedal really SHINES (lol had to). It's got a really fun blend of reverb, delay, and fuzz, and it's a whole trifecta of sound shaping options. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Thank you ♥ loved the explanations
Thank you! Super cool version of a super cool pedal! 🙌
Brilliant video!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! =)
Soooo, my sub 37 is mono, love that, my ms20 is mono, love that,my xoxbox is mono, love that.... shall i continue? Its a beautiful pedal. Kudos to you Michael. 👍
Yes! Lots to miss out on if you don't embrace mono haha. PS sounds like you have everything you need for some killer acid tracks!
@@Duskmos indeed my good man. 👍
Yo Duskmos I love your page so much I'm ready to pull the trigger on a couple of pedals. I've just purchased the hydrasynth. Even though I love the onboard effects I love fiddling around with something more tactile. Can you guide me in the right way. I need a reverb pedal, a delay, and deep modulation pedal.
Thanks so much for the compliment and we can hash it out for sure! Message me on Instagram @duskmos - much easier to chat there. 🙌
It's mono? For 399 € and with synths, that's a dealbreaker 😭
It is mono…but it is 3 effects in one so that’s something to consider at least. Also, most pedals are mono, as are a lot of synths! But I hear you. Price is always a factor and whether or not you can use it in your setup is totally unique to you. Thanks for checking it out though! :)
It is crazy. It seems like almost all the interesting reverb and delay pedals, the ones with the most character, end up being mono, and I would really expect stereo. It’s like you are SO close guys. So close.
@@michaelkonomos we know... currently trying to improve that with a new DSP but it takes soooo much time to dev
@@collisiondevices great to hear! I can’t even imagine. It seems really common though. It’s not just you all. Chase Bliss and others as well. Is it just the expense of the second jack? Something else with the programming?
@@michaelkonomos I think each company has its own reasons but for us it was, 1st, the fact that the chip we used and its memory was limited - then that we had to duplicate the circuit of the 2 other analog effects in the pedal to make it really stereo and not do a fake stereo. So we're trying to find program the new DSP to solve this! :)
If you had to choose between the OTO Bam and the Black Hole for reverb, which would you prefer?
That’s a tough call! I like the vibe and multi-purpose-use of the BHS, but for me personally I’d have to go BAM if only for stereo and presets. The BHS isn’t going anywhere though, I do really like it and will definitely use it where it makes sense. It’s actually used pretty heavily on a few tracks of my next album! I know this doesn’t do much to help your either/or scenario lol, but I say if you have a mono setup and don’t already have some delay and fuzz, BHS is a great buy. 👌
@@Duskmos Thanx!
@@Duskmos Oi... it´s my bad I didn´t know the Collsion Devices Black Hole Symmetry is Mono. Sorry mate.
No prob at all! Haha always happy to talk shop 😎
@@Duskmos The Bam really does good 80s rooms. I think I will buy it.
Mono is a dealbreaker.
It really shouldn't be, and it isn't for a lot of us as most pedals are mono. Plenty of synths are mono too. My A4MKII that I demo with, each track is mono but it has a stereo output, so this is great in that signal flow, going back into the A4 input to either blend in or completely replace the track it's on works out really well. Same goes for anything you sample, you can apply a panning LFO or a ping pong delay and you get lots of stereo back. Honestly mono gets a bad wrap haha. I hear you though, I used to feel that way until I learned what you can do with mono signals if you get creative. Thanks for watching the vid!
Mono not stereo....deal breaker for me.
Aw man it shouldn't be. SO many great pedals are mono. You're missing out on a whole world of great stuff if you avoid mono. You can always buy two! Lol ;)
