I experienced a wonderful feeling, while going through the different forests, and driving on the country roads (taking me home). I'm glad you did but honestly, the whole Europe is precisely that. Anywhere you go there, you'll find a hamlet, a village, a city, a land, a region, a province, a small state or a big one which has a tremendous source of history to be learned then discovered on-site. This is what Europe is : a paradise for historian aficionados. And you get even luckier when the common heritage has survived to ages, wars or this stupid fashion from late XIXth, early XXth that made a lot of country "modernise" their buildings by demolishing them in order to build new ones because the old heritage was considered as old-fashioned and ungainly.

The streets and scales are not respected but the restitution of buildings is very accurate. There is not only KDC that provides that kind of experience. Ain't that the truth. About a year ago, before I bought KCD, I knew very little of the history of my own country (Wales). KCD inspired me to learn more, especially around the same time period in which KCD is set. At that time, Owain Glyndwr was in full swing in his uprising against Henry IV. I've since learned that medieval Welsh history is absolutely fascinating stuff and I would love to see a KCD-type game based around something in that setting.

Fun Fact: The reason some of the areas from KDC seem bigger and more grand is due to them actually being bigger than they were in real life.
In Shadiversity's video going through the historical accuracy of the buildings in KDC, he had made a comment about it, and Warhorse replied. They stated that they had to make all the buildings and certain areas a bit bigger than real life, as the NPC navmesh was otherwise going to be a problem (not enough room for NPC's to properly navigate without creating odd glitches and bugs).

@G G The area depicted in the game is fairly backwards and unimportant. There are castles in Czech Rep in every town and 2-3 historical buildings in pretty much every village, it's an immense expense. A lot of those castles were used for their original purpose (defence, military barracks) well until the late 18th century and a lot of them were deliberately ruined by whoever managed to conquer them. A castle in a village (a village, not a town) I've been born and raised was destroyed by enemies during Napoleonic wars and then again shortly afterwards. Another castle (again near a village, not a town) is about 15km away, in very good condition and visited by tourists. But it was impossible to save both.

One of the things I love about this game is that this is the first AAA game (if I am not wrong) that uses massively photogrammetry and computer vision methods for its graphics.
I'm land surveyor and G.I.S. engineer myself, I use photogrammetry for my job in some cases that its needed. The church was the best example here to show to the people that don't know about this technology that this is the future. The power of making 3D models just from photos (well taken with a certain way photos actually) its huge. They were forced to "downscale" some models I guess just to not make the game more heavy that it is, but guys, this is the future, if the average person had better computers we could see magnificent graphics. I really look forward to see games using real monuments or places with very accurate and detailed representation using photogrammetry. Or even better, open world games that everything inside is made like that. I just love it

Some interest to mention: 2:46 no you cannor enter the old castle :( 3:56 two interesting things on real photo: the white building on the right, right behind the black car is a taver called “U Jindřicha” which is Henry in English - best tavern in Ratay! Building in the middel, with small tower on the roof, look at the chimney on lefr of the tower, you will see a small thing on the top of the chimney - thas is a head of nun made od stone. The legends says she was burried in the chimney alive with only her head kept outside and which turned to stone after some time later. (Better photo on 4:23 - the castle was teared down and a building on the real photo was build). Neuhof is today the right end of the Ratay village - there are no stables anymore, only cattle farm. The suroundings around Ledecz are the most accurate I have ever seen. We were biking all around Ratay, Talmberk, mostly Sasau (it is more far away in real life) so when I was playing, I barely opened the map to find some place.

10:00 I think that’s the most amazing one. It’s pretty amazing if that’s the same stone and has stood there for 600 years! Can’t wait to visit Czechia myself sometime

Hey, our country has come trough a lot. For example, main church in Sasau monastery was never finished, becose of wars and changes through 15th century. But, yeah. Thanks, mr. Vávra and Warhorse studio.

Love your KCD videos in general, of course, but this one was particularly fascinating. The side by side shots are amazing comparisons and testaments to the attention to detail on part of WH studio (love that they commented here on your video) and convery all our thanks to Jakub for taking the snaps and sending you. Keep making lovely KCD videos. We are all waiting for the sequel, of course.

Just one of the reasons why this game was successful, attention to historical accuracy. Sad thing is, Warhorse was attacked by SJWs because apparently SJWs want to change history to their own liking. Thank you Warhorse for not bowing the knee to these idiots like some other well known game studios, who already have.

I freaking LOVE this game and it’s creators. They did way to much work for what they ultimately got out of it. Kinda sad but still thank you for this Warhorse. This is definitely gonna be one of my main stays for life
